This concert launched TMBG's world tour this summer and it was a great show. The set was super long and the energy never failed. Intra-band conversations created an intimate atmosphere, even if the mics didn't carry half of what was said to the back of the room. My biggest problems were with concertgoers elbowing through the throng mid-song spilling beer all over the place. The venue itself (Chameleon Club) has a great layout for a club, but not the best for enjoying a band.

This show was lively, funny, and virtuosic, but one can expect no less from the Johns and the band! From their newest album I Like Fun back to their classics, every song was crisp and fresh, and the banter relaxed and genuinely amusing. Can t wait for their return!

Take 2 friends, add two beers. Mix with a healthy portion of the They Might Be Giants show. Dance. Fun. Repeat if you can! Oh, I don't know. You must be thinking of some other band.

I've wanted to see They Might Be Giants for years now and they didn't disappoint. Celebrating their album Flood playing it straight through was the concert experience everyone talks about and never gets. I was surprised how hard they rock with some off the chart drumming, but not surprised by the humor and great music.

They Might Be Giants put on a fantastic show at Berklee, with a great retelling of Flood and some of their more recent (and no less awesome) work. We sat in the front row of the balcony at the Berklee Performing Arts Center and felt like we were on top of the band, great seats. From where we sat, it felt like a really small and intimate venue though, looking over our shoulders, the seats went up and back a long way.

After 30 + years listening to their musical genius via CD's, my husband, 17 yr. old daughter and I ventured forth to witness them perform live. The Beaumont Club in Westport was a perfect venue. Lots of space, very friendly staff, excellent sound. The John's high energy level and sense of fun engaged us all throughout the performance. Completely enjoyed the show and hope they return soon to Kansas City.

The opening act was really, really bad. I turned to two fisted drinking to self medicate to make it through it. This was the first time I had ever seen They Might Be Giants and I had to say it was a very good show! I did not know their music but you could defiantly tell they are two very accomplished singers/songwriters. They engaged the crowd very well and played for just under two hours. I will defiantly catch their show again the next time they are in town.

Excellent show! Their "mistakes" increased the intimacy of their performance and showed that TMBG are truly a band "of the people, for the people." They did play "Twisting" out of sequence, but no one seemed to mind (except me, but just for a moment).

I have attended several They Might Be Giants concerts and they have never delivered a disappointing show, despite the narrative they joking encourage via Instagram. They are very engaged with their audience and pepper their performance with the trademark humor that has endeared them to their fans for decades. Whether it is their most beloved classics or a track from their newest album, every song is an absolute delight. I highly recommend this show to all!

It had been maybe 12 years or so since I'd seen the Giants and there was no disappointment at all! TMBG are still quite relevant in 2018, as evidenced by the packed house and age span of the crowd. College kids sang along to oldies and rarities and older folks who hooked into these guys in the '80s recognized the newer stuff. John & John were their usual amusing selves, and the band they've assembled is absolutely fantastic. This show also featured horn player Curt Ramm, whose trumpet nearly stole the night. Fan-freaking-tastic! Not even a water bottle accident on John F.'s gear could detour things, although you could tell he was pretty pissed about it. Note: This show is for ages 14+ and we were able to take our kids, who recognized enough of the songs to have a great time. Even the younger one who isn't quite into them dug it enough to say, "I love that kind of band." The set list covered a lot of ground, and while there were certainly songs I'd hoped to hear but didn't, I can't blame them. They touched on most of the 20 albums they've released in this 2-set show, played seemingly all of whatever folks might consider their "hits," introduced cool new arrangements on some, and had a nice little video spoof (someone else's) to open the 2nd set. No spoiler here, but if you're old enough to remember the original you'll get the joke.

They Might Be Giants are the best band I've ever seen in concert! They played their new stuff, their old stuff, and their only kinda old stuff. They played their well known hits like Birdhouse in Your Soul, as well as totally obscure stuff like their cover of Bills, Bills, Bills. I told my wife that they never play Rhythm Section Want Ad in concert. Then a little while later they surprise us by playing that very song! It was like they were eavesdropping and wanted to delight us out of spite. These guys totally rock in concert. They have great presence, and they put on a hell of a show. My only regret is that I have no idea when I'll get to see them in concert again. No one does it better!

You can tell They Might Be Giants have been at this for a while and for the best reasons. The duo of Johns play off of each other expertly with originally funny and seemingly organic material. Their music is energetic and just genuinely fun, as well, and they played two full sets with an intermission. This is definitely a worthwhile show that I would highly recommend.

I've been a TMBG fan for 30 years and somehow I've always missed their shows. Finally, I got to seem them live! There was no opening act for the show, they went straight into it. They took a brief intermission but all together played for nearly 3 hours. Great mix of old songs and new as well as some story telling and goofing off. It was awesome to see different people get hyped for all their songs, showing their fan-base spreads over several decades. I definitely plan to see them again as soon as I get a chance.

Have seen TMBG in concerts for a quarter of a century in venues across the world. This concert was like going out to a friends place and hanging out and having a laugh. It's always been a place where music and comedy mix. Love the Ponte Vedra concert hall as a venue. The mix of sarcasm, science and wit was by devoured by the mellow fans. I now have their two newest albums on rotation in the car. Great way to celebrate my sons 16th bday at his first concert with a band he has known since before he was born.

Started out a bit worried that the show began at 11 pm. But then when the band took the stage and performed their hearts out and rocked the audience for 2 sets and 3 encores, the late hour was unimportant. Fun, intimate venue. The band just reeks of charm and wit. This, on top of hours of beloved music knocked out so easy like they're just ringing a bell, but with most of the trademark TMBG harmony and interplay intact. These guys surely earn the fan love that pours out to them.

They Might Be Giants put on a special show, and my whole family had a wonderful time. The venue was magnificent, the band was incredible, and the Johns (especially Flansy) were on as usual. They hung around afterward to personally hand out free band stickers to EVERYONE who came up to the stage (we were seated in the balcony, but were allowed to queue up to get stickers) and Flansy gave me a stack of them (at least 10). It's the only sticker on my car. They played all the songs we wanted to hear (I am a Paleontologist, Birdhouse in your Soul, Older) and many other great tunes off of their children's albums. They even did a special puppet performance, even though I had 'warned' my 4-year-old that the guys were real people and not the puppets she saw on their podcast. It was great. And Flansy also invited everyone to get out their cameras and take pictures of the band: a must for parents taking kids out to a cool concert like this. It was wonderful.

Terminal 5 is an awesome venue. My strategy was to find a good balcony location, rather than to join the crowd on the floor. We got a nice vantage point on the third floor, not too crowded either. Jonathan Coulton opened up sounding awesome with a full band. He played favorites like Code Monkey and Re: Your Brains. Suzanne Vega joined him for Now I Am An Arsonist. Beautiful. They Might Be Giants opened with Birdhouse In Your Soul. I was happy to see Mark Pender was joining them on trumpet. They sounded amazing! No complaints about sound quality at this venue, which I had read was a problem for other people in reviews. They played a mix of songs mainly from their newest album Join Us, and Lincoln. I was glad to hear some unexpected songs like Cow Town and Where Your Eyes Don't Go. They covered Paranoid by Black Sabbath with sock puppets. Didn't see that coming. They used a handheld camera and lights to interact with the audience. They played Spy, a favorite of mine and also Lie Still Little Bottle with Linnell on Bass Clarinet. Had a discussion about sleestacks and YouTube after Cloisonne. Closed with Dr. Worm, but came out for two encores finally ending with Instanbul. The music was amazing, the Johns were hilarious. I couldn't imagine anyone not having a good time at this show!

Energy waxed and waned as the Johns covered nearly every era of their incredible careers. Their facebook page advertised this as huge dance party, implying a high energy level, but it was more like This Is Your Life, They Might Be Giants. The songs were great, but the silence and bantering between the songs killed the energy. And the Avatars of They (puppets on screen with the Johns' voices) went extremely long and seemed to create a sense of wonder amongst the crowd about whether there would be actual rocking lasting longer than 2 minutes any time in the near future. The sound was hit and miss depending on where you stand at Terminal 5. There are sweet spots.

If you don't know TMBG, study up. John Linnell and John Flansburgh have been skewering pop tropes and forging indelible hooks for thirty years and show no signs of slowing down. They are eternally young, eternally hip without being cynical or post-ironic, and put on a helluva show. This particular gig was opened by Jonathan Coulter: how cool is that?! Audience interaction, sock puppets, sing-alongs and three encores with a standing ovation. If you don't yet know what you're missing, you should find out!

Coulton's set was fairly short, but still excellent. They Might Be Giants were outstanding - the trumpet player in particular was stellar. The only downsides to the show were the mixing - sometimes the music obscured the lyrics, etc (a common problem with live shows), and the seating at the venue (the rows of seats were so close together that one barely had room for one's knees). Overall, I highly recommend. It was a triumph! I cannot overstate my satisfaction.

1st time for me to visit the Pageant Theatre and first time to see the Giants live. I missed them by just a bad decision in 1990 in London.... Anyway, nice to see all of the old material and people mouthing all of the words, great people watching, lots of interpretive dancing in the balconies! The band rocks from the 1st song and energetic performance of "Elements" to the much awaited (by me) "Fingertips". All of the album "Flood" was covered and enjoyed by the audience. I always preferred Apollo 18 and they performed some tasty tunes from that album, too! I purchased the "Science" cd/dvd for my kids to watch and I am enjoying the new songs as much as I did the old. I thought the concert was a great idea and very affordable entertainment. I would do it again and recommend it to a friend. Thanks for the free bumper stickers!! The band- seemed to enjoy the music and the crowd, they were a pleasure to watch and very friendly with the crowd. Stayed around to let us see them after the show. Watch out for puppets and clarinets, which were probably the biggest suprise that I enjoyed the most!! I say more puppets and more clarinets... The sound/lighting-was perfect. Just loud enough to lose yourself in the moment and not so showy to enjoy the music. Vocals could be mixed clearer to project over the bass and other instruments, or perhaps just where I sat. The venue-was nice. Easy to get to and not a bad seat in the house. Refreshments were available and easy to access. Don't take a camera, a lady in the line ahead of me had a hassle with hers!

My wife and I have been Hugh fans since mid 80's. they only played two songs from first half of their career, " the good stuff". Everything else was more recent releases, which is not good. The crowd erupted when they played their earlier stuff and was quiet and bored the ret of the show, just like us, unfortunate. Also, they talked between each song, an additional waste of time. Other than They might be giants, the venue was nice. We are Hugh fans, but will not waste time seeing their shows any longer, sad.

The band was tight, Flansy and Linnell were hilarious, the set list was awesome, and the venue was pretty nice. I've seen TMBG about 10 times but this was one of the best.

The guys haven't lost it after all these years, although their sound hasn't evolved. But that's great news for the real fans, and I was glad to see they've found an audience among younger generations. They'll never play the big rooms, but that's okay.

I loved that they played their first album! It's something that very few bands would do, especially since it isn't their biggest album by any stretch. Also they released an album this year, so it would have been easier for them do a full album show off of that. My major complaint is that they only played for 95 minutes. They have several show staples that they didn't play in order to play the first album that would have made for an incredible encore set. Great show, just not enough of it.

I've seen They Might Be Giants at least 10 times now, including the first times they ever played in both Raleigh and Chapel Hill, but this was a rare opportunity to see them in LA! Couldn't pass it up, especially with them playing their entire first album, which was the album that introduced me to the band way back in 1986. A fabulous show, great sound (I highly recommend Royce Theater); a truly memorable evening. My daughter, who went to see the Apollo 18 tour as her first ever rock show, loved it, and her husband, a TMBG virgin, left very impressed.

Best show ever. The band was amazing, fun, totally personable. The band had us come to the front of the auditorium where we could dance and sing and interact with them. My kids loved it and so did I!

I LOVE TMBG, and have seen them several times over the years. Last year we went to the family show which I highly recommend if you have kids; several people brought children to the evening show, and I spotted them leaving early and not looking too happy about it. This year TMBG did all 19 songs from their first album, from most to least favorite, so after that the show was much more energetic. Moon hooch was fine for a few songs, but once they started singing my husband and I went to the bar. The lighting designer for this show should be taken out to the woodshed!! I hope he just did Royce hall and not the whole tour. Many times we were accosted by brights lights shining directly in our faces, sometimes even flashing, I'm surprised no one literally went into seizures. The lighting design and opening band are what take a great show down to 3 stars for me.

If you have kids this is an awesome show to take them to. John and John of They might be giants are so amazing and fun! But by far the rain down or should i say shower of confetti was the most amazing thing i have ever experienced! We brought home a bag full and my daughter played in it for hours! SUPER FUN SHOW!

Great time had by all! TMBG played songs for the parents and songs for the kids too. Got us all up and moving and held our attention the entire time. Clean grooves and in sync. tight. We absolutely loved it. I want to see them again!!!

Our party loved Moon Hooch. Heard influences of Coltrane, Ornette Coleman, and Philip Glass in their music, which was exciting to watch and listen to. After waiting over half an hour for They Might Be Giants to set up their instruments, we left after three numbers. Their anti-music, cocky stage manner, and glaring lighting was a turn off. We walked out muttering, "Then again, they might not be giants."

My son hurt himself just before the show and didn't want to go. I convinced him, and he was so glad he went! He and his sister know a lot of their music, so they danced and sang themselves silly. And the confetti was ridiculous. The floor was carpeted with scraps of paper...people were getting lost in the avalanche of paper. But they absolutely loved it. Truth be told, so did I. How often can you have such a free-spirited good time throwing stuff (without snow), and not have to worry about clean up? We only wish they had played more music from the science album, but still had a great time. We hope to go again next year!!

First album show. Did all the songs off the first album in the first part of the show ("bifurcated" Flansy said) then some favorites in the second part. It was fun, it was rockin'. These guys always do a great show, but this one had an extra unidentifiable something that made it one of the best ever.

TMBG, as always, rock the house. Moon Hooch was surprisingly good, considering their lack of a huge fan base: I loved them and they definitely worked with the tone of the night. Overall, great songs by great bands at a great venue.

They Might Be Giants know how to entertain. They are a solid, tight band and the set list for the show was varied and highly energetic. They have a new album out and played a few songs from that, but made sure they played their fan favorites as well. The band members clearly still enjoy what they do. The crowd was highly engaged throughout the entire show. And- it is the Stone Pony- which rarely disappoints.

They Might Be Giants always put on a great show and Saturday's show was no exception. They are so much fun to watch. The sound was excellent. The venue was fantastic. I love the House of Blues location right in the middle of Downtown Disney. Moon Hooch was a great band. Their style was very unexpected but extremely engaging. The only part I did not like is that Flansburgh's language was sometimes foul. The minimum age was 14 and I had my 15 year old son with me.

The show was great. I have seen a Flood show before, but this one was even more fun. The audience seemed really into it, and the band was really interactive. They played some new songs too.

I went to both shows at the Variety Playhouse April 13 & 14. The April 13 show was a good mx of the new release Nanobots and all of the old favorites. It's amazing the band has progressed so that what used to be a standard encore song (Don't Let's Start - still one of my favorites) was played as the second song. The April 14 show was a special Flood show. They opened with about a 45 minute non-Flood set because as Flansburgh said Flood is only 45 minutes long and they are contractually obligated to play more than two times longer than 45 minutes. They then played Flood in reverse order. The last few songs (first few from the album) are a great ending! The band still has their great wit and entertain throughout the show plus the Avatars of they were present and witty as well.

This show was fun. They played the entire Flood album in reverse order and put new twists on some of the most popular songs to keep things interesting. They also played a lot of songs from the new album.

This was a splendid concert. Moon Hooch gave a good (and very LOUD) start as the opening act, and when TMBG took the stage, they did a wonderful job of making us laugh, playing favorite songs, and introducing us to new ones - I left the show knowing I'll be buying "Nanobots" soon. It was wonderful.
