Ministry

MINISTRY IN CONCERT:Legendary industrial metal outfit Ministry has been shaking fans to the core with their bone-crushing live shows for more than three decades, and their upcoming tour dates may be the final chance to see them in action. Longtime Ministry guitarist Mike Scaccia died of a heart attack in 2012, prompting frontman  Al Jourgensen to declare that the band's 2013 album From Beer to Eternity and accompanying tour would be their last. It's a bittersweet moment for fans -- they get to see the Jourgensen and company let it all hang out on their historic farewell tour dates, but it's also the end of an era. The bland plans to honor their legacy and Scaccia's life by doing what they do best -- delivering ferocious, decibel-shattering performances packed with industrial metal classics like "Stigmata" and "Jesus Built My Hotrod".

The God Bombs should have been 2nd just before Ministry. Chelsa Wolfe was barely audible and so melodic it basically killed the upbeat mood set by The God Bombs. She didn't fit the line up at all. Ministry was an awesome stage show and between the visual and guitar riffs it was impossible to not get ramped up. The voices were perfect over the fast paced music which was impressive. Sometimes the music drowns out the mic. Great show!

This was the 3rd time I had seen Ministry, with the first two being in 1999 and 2003, respectively. It was the right mix of newer songs and older songs, and they were really on top of their game. Al seemed glad to be there and even came down to the area between the barricade and the stage to thank fans before going in after the main set. I am really glad that I made the decision to travel up from Houston for this show.

It's been about 10 years since I last saw Ministry (Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas). I am really glad I didn't miss this opportunity. The band did not disappoint and I was reminded why I have liked Ministry since the 80's. Every song was great and they could have played all night I think everyone would have stayed until they ran out of songs to play. When Al came down to the floor to shake all our hands in the front you could see the gratitude in his eyes. IF YOU GET THE OPPORTUNITY DO NOT MISS THE NEXT MINISTRY SHOW! The world could use a little more Ministry.

If you missed the going away tour this is the one and only chance to catch ministry again. This is really for the people that liked them for a very long time and have been influence by the music. There were some technical issues but nothing that ruins the show.

Uncle Al is back with an extremely tight and high tech sonic assault. The new LP Relapse is packed with new tracks that combine the heavyness of Filth Pig and the mathmatical guitar riffs of N.W.O. Al's stage presence is humble and gracious to the audience of life long fans. He played old was tracks and a range of hits from each album. The band is super tight and precise with an speed metal flair. Visuals and sound production is top notch. Sound quality at Club Nokia was awesome allowing the audience to hear all the layers with precision and clarity. My ears are still ringing though two days later. Optik

Never thought I would get to see them, so when Death Grips was coming to Philly I immediately bought tickets. There are far superior venues in the city, but you take what you can get. A little looping around and parking was free. Death Grips did not disappoint. It was everything I wanted from a show. The energy was amazing. Ministry was also very satisfying. About 30% of the crowd left after Death Grips so we had room. Great show.

Event was a memorable one, unfortunately for the wrong reasons. Event only sold 300 tix. The event venue was so empty. Very disappointed no on came out to see "one of the founding bands of Industrial Rock. They have such a history you'd think more locals would be interested. Plus one My Life with Thrill Kill Kult did not play for whatever reason. This was another disappointment. Ministry was good and loud and raw as ever. Played a lot of new stuff which is expected for support of album. but was disappointed in the fact they did not play a good part of their old stuff.

Love Love Love Ministry, but this tour won't add many fond memories for me. Al vaguely lip-synched his way through 90% of the show, and really only seemed to remember the old hits. The band put in a respectable effort, but realizing that the frontman was pulling an Ashley Simpson SNL appearance took most of the life out of the show.

When I heard that Ministry was putting out a new album in 2012. I was stoked. Al putting in the last word before the Apocalypse of 2012. It was just a coincidence that the LA show was on June 21, 2012 exactly six months before December 21, 2012. I had to go. The last time I saw Ministry was in 1999 with the Psalm 69. I have to say. AL IS A INDUSTRIAL METAL GOD!!!!!

Expected more from the great one. Al's new music was boring and sound quality was bad. The endless political messaging was tedious and the crowd was clearly laying flat. Al clearly doesn't know his audience and was wasting his time if he thought he could convert anybody with that performance. A new song about Antifa, really?? Think most of the people writing positive comments weren't there. Half the people did not stay till the end of the show. They were the smart ones. Bad Blood played at the end was OK but did not make up for a poor set list where the great older songs were left out.

This show was a huge let down, the opening band was the best performance of the night, the second band was awful. And ministry 3 quarters of the show was heavily political. I for one can t stand when I pay money to be entertained and to forget about reality and life for a few hours. And they only played two older songs. He even made a comment about the crowd being shy during the political songs and then we woke up with the older stuff. How about before you go play somewhere you know your audience of where your playing and know there not going to enjoy that stuff particularly the majority of the crowd of who they might of voted for and support, but either way for me doesn t matter even if it was about someone I don t like politically still wouldn t of enjoyed it. That s not who they are or at least the stuff that I know and expected the good older stuff.

I am a big fan of ministry from back in the day. So I was a bit disappointed when he opened with only new stuff for the first half or more of the show. Also I go to events to escape politics but being I knew going in he was very political it was expected. The new stuff was awesome just annoying not knowing any of it. While I greatly enjoyed the old stuff, I would have preferred other songs than what we got. Sounds like I am being negative but not really, just that AL is playing what he wants, not what we want.

Made an hour and half drive to see the show as you never know if it will be the last one. That being said, the lack of road signs to get in the specific area we needed to be once off the main road are severely lacking. Did not care for the opening band, not a fan of screaming vocals and the next act was ok. Ministry did not disappoint. Has to be the loudest show I have ever been to! Great sound system for sure. Uncle Al still has it and the musicians were superb. I have seen Ministry in the 80's as well as early and mid 2000 and the musicianship is the best it has been. Would have liked to have heard some more older tunes but that's just me. It was a great time and worth the drive.

So, I loved The Land of Rape and Honey liked some of Psalm 69, but AJ basically lost me after that. His hatred for Trump is obvious, Yea! I certainly am down with that, but the 4 songs I stayed for were too long, too monotonous, and lackied the spark of originality I liked about Ministry long ago. ...although they were exceptionally loud.

Been a fan of Ministry since a teenager and never had the opportunity to see them live. I'm so glad I didn't pass. I only wish they had played Stigmata and Burning Inside, but it WAS a political themed show so I understand. Sounded great and Burton C. Bell joining in for a couple just added to my excitement. If you went to see Al and Ministry for a best of concert you would be disappointed. A lot of new material played in the beginning of the show...last four songs were old school Ministry and got the crowd into a frenzy & Al too. He even mentioned how the crowd woke up. Would see them again, even more so if they were to play more songs from their older catalogue. They were promoting a new album so....

They rocked! Really back on solid ground this tour. No staggering around, drinking 2 bottles of red Bordeaux during his set, his voice sounded good, and he seemed to be in a good mood in both Montreal and Boston! I've followed this band since the early Channel (long may it's condo-ized bones rest in peace!) shows, and for the first time since the Animositma tour, i felt like they were back on form.

The show was exactly what I expected, having looked up the setlists from the current tour. Almost the entire new album, of course; selections from "Rio Grande Blood", interesting choice; and the must play, big hits from their very early and best releases. The band only played for 80 min, leaving me a bit disappointed, but of course Al isn't a young man anymore and I'm just grateful he's still touring, especially at a small club for $25. The venue remains ideal for an first class experience, i.e. easy to move to the front, excellent acoustics and affordable tix. The bars are upgraded with "Bottoms Up" craft beer selections, a nice touch, albeit with a hefty tab ($10/beer), but I can live with that all other things considered. Overall, no regrets, only good memories. Bogart's, I'll be back.

Great choice of supporting act, Great performance of both bands, Great public, Great show. Final SMM song was not to my taste, but it was among some extras after second encore so it's cool. But uncle Al is right, in studio it's creation, on stage it's only recreation, so I'd better donate them so they could give us more studio works and music videos instead of live shows. The shows are fun, but the more fun of this kind means more damage to the body.

Last year I caught Death Grips at Terminal 5 in NYC, stoked to see they were coming to the hometown this year. I've been highly disappointed in the past with the Electric Factory's sound quality, so my friends and I dubbed this the Electric Factory Redemption Show. If they could pull off a Grips show, they're worthy of our business. The sound wound up being abysmal. Both Zach and Ride sounded so small. The mix was muddy and confused. It was nothing compared to what Terminal 5 pulled off last year. Thankfully, we still had a lot of fun, but it wasn't because of the Electric Factory. It was because of the insanity of a crowd getting Gripped. Next time Grips comes around, I pray it's at the Transfer. Otherwise, back to NYC we go.

From the second I walked into the H.O.B. I knew it was going to be a loud one. The house music before the band's even come on was so loud I saw one of the bartenders plugging her ears. The opening band ( The SiXXe'S ) were ok. I had never heard of them until this show. I'd say they did their job as openers, but I'm not running out to buy their CD. Ministry hit the stage a bit after 10 pm and just brutally assaulted everyone from start to finish! The band sounded great. It looked like they were enjoying themselves and not just going through the motions. I was right against the rail in front of the stage and I paid for it. This was the loudest show I've ever been to, and I've seem some crazy shows. Growing up in Detroit, I've been to some extremely loud concerts and underground raves. Places where the bass was so hard it felt like a jackhammer on your chest. Ministry diminished everything I've ever witnessed. Wow, my hearing in my left ear took almost a day and a half to come back! I'm not complaining, just stating the facts. If you're on the fence about going, buy your tickets now, I promise you won't be disappointed. I'd bet not a single person there that night was.

When your lead singer is too inebriated to even lip sync properly, you probably should not be touring anymore. He had fake dreads pinned on that required stagehand assistance to keep them attached to his head. He fell down and dropped the mic yet his vocals kept going. Fool literally sat down by himself in the middle of a song and the vocals played out. They sheepishly asked for an "encore" chant and for the first time in my hundreds-of-shows history, the crowd booed and left the club instead of enduring any more of what was the SINGLE WORST SHOW I've ever been to. BOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Really enjoyed the show. The only problem was the ticket showed the event starting at 7 p.m. The opening act didn't take the stage until 8:45 -- and Ministry started an hour later. I have to admit that once they got started though -- it was sheer insanity. The place was virtually sold out. It was great to connect with other fans who enjoyed Ministry through the decades and still have an appreciation for their work.

I agree with the other review. Al came out looking like the show would be as good as advertised. I left extremely disappointed. They played way too much of their new stuff and had the amps cranked up so loud you couldn't tell what the hell they were playing. Maybe Al's voice had issues, etc...I have been to alot of Ministry shows and this hands down was the worst. Hopefully they can regain their footing before jumping across the pond for their Euro tour

Negatives: Didn't play any of the oldies but goodies (stigmata, so what, psalm 69) until the encore, and when they did they didn't play jesus built my hotrod, burning inside, the missing, filth pig and played the oldies in a medley. Also they actually were too loud (I know, if it's too loud you're too old). The amps were cranked up so high that the various instruments (including Al's voice) were indistinguishable. Positives: Al looked freakish, very cool. Good crowd interaction by Al.

The music was too loud; it entirely overpowered the vocals. When I could hear the vocals, they were unintelligible. I also thought the video montages denouncing ex-President George W. Bush were hackneyed to say the least. It was the worst concert I have ever been to.
