Washington Capitals

Situated in the heart of Chinatown, Capital One Arena has been the home of the Capitals since 1997. The Capitals moved to Capital One arena from Landover, Md. in 1997 when the building was called the MCI Center. The building hosted the 1998 Stanley Cup Final in its first year of existence when the Capitals took on the Detroit Red Wings.

Loved that I could text each member of my family their own ticket, which was perfect as we were all arriving to the arena from different parts of DC/VA!

I was at Verizon Center on 10/3/2009 - the home opener. There is nothing like this team. They are sooooo exciting to watch! The atmosphere at the phone booth is electric and the venue is first rate, lots of food and drink available with minimal waits. Even the bathrooms are plentiful! There is not better sporting event in DC at this time. Better hurry up and get tickets, every game should be a sellout!

What a great organization...great fans (loyal fans). Seeing the standing ovation at the end of the season was one of the most heart felt moments in sports for this area in some time (for me). It made me proud to be a hockey fan...better yet, a Capitals fan. Thank you I would like to make my resignation as a fan of the Redskins public. I grew up a fan through association and loved my "skins". I gave up at the end of the 07' season. Its kinda like how I became with the Dallas Cowboys. I will not even be a competitive fan of the team that isn't even worth it (at least they will do whatever it takes to win....they will take anyone, I mean anyone). I picked up two fantastic tickets on Ticketmaster on the same day as the game to see the NHL's only two undefeated (7-0) teams meet on Saturday night. I was not disappointed, as the home team went on to a 7-1 rout. I am very glad I used ticketmaster for last minute tickets, since I was able to buy tickets at face value which would easily have cost me 2-3 times as much form a broker or another service. I was a hockey gm virgin, but going to see the Caps in real life and them ultimately winning (on a shootout!) was as good as advertised. The ushers were extremely nice and got to see Alex Ovechkin move at a frenetic pace like nothing I've ever seen before in my life. It is said that hockey is the world's fastest sport. No. Lie. Seeing the players zip past each other on ice means that these NHLers are the fittest athletes on the planet. My friend from Buffalo and I had a great time, going back and forth, rooting for our respective teams. But even he had to realize that Rockin' the Red is an overwhelming factor in the nation's capital! 4/5 (was a little tired, and it wasn't a reg. sea. gm., might've been a higher rating) Will I go to another gm? Stay tuned...

Well, everything was good except some things. First is the parking which is outragous but we all know why. Second and final was the food. You get little for your price you pay. I think the companies don't care unless they make there bonus. The tickets for they were a little high even for a playoff. I did find out why for they are a season ticket holder which they resell and add more money so they can come out ahead then they purchase a seat in the upper concourse. Go figure. Eh... The game was great. Thanks.

Purchased $95 tickets on the blue line, Section 418, Row D seats 10-11. The row we sat in were cheap folding chairs that were smaller than the permanent Verizon Center seating. No mention of that before we purchased the tickets. Won't ever spend that kind of money for cheap seats again. I gave the rating 4 stars because the view was good and the Capitals won. Let's go Caps!

This was the first game I went to since the 1970's at the then 'Boston' Garden, and the Caps facility was just as awe inspiring, just as fun, and the fans were just as friendly (even with me wearing my Bruins shirt!) as I remember those games long ago. Even though my B's lost, I had a blast!!! The seat was amazing, too. In fact, when I go back next time I'm in town (and I WILL go back), I'll be trying for a similar seat! Thanks, Caps!

It was an awesome experience. It was my second NHL game. We got down to DC early and had time to kill in the shops and restaurants/bars around the VC which was very easy. The game itself was fun, there is NO bad seat in that place. We were the last row in the upperdeck corner, and they were still good seats, very impressed.

I was on a business trip from Sweden to Washington and was lucky to get hold of tickets. Excellent arrangement and game and fantastic atmosphere!! Albeit I was surprised that the names and team set up of both teams was not announced prior the game. Nor when the opposition scored they did not announce the name of the player who scored, nor was there music/special effects when the opposition scored! One must not forget the sportsmanship of the game and treat all players with respect. Having said this, the game was a fantastic experience! Go Caps!!

Overall, it was a decent experience at the Verizon Center; a well built, but cramped arena with lots of amenities. My hang-up is on how expensive the tickets are. Last I checked, the Capitals have not won a Stanley Cup yet they charge astronomical ticket prices. I paid over $152 for two seats in the nose bleed section; literally 4th deck, 2nd row from the back, in the corner. I should be paying a lot less for a team that has only won a divison championship in the past few years.

Our family loved this game soooo much! We had an INCREDIBLE view of the game--the first row behind the NHL/penalty box a few inches from center ice! Yes, these seats were a bit pricey but we were celebrating a very special occasion, and our teenagers could not have been more excited to be so up close to the players! The actual seats themselves were VERY small which was disappointing. We are not large people, and my husband and I could barely fit in the seats properly. The person sitting next to me, however, was probably 6 foot and I guess about 250 pounds. Half of his body was pressed up against mine from my shoulder to my ankle for the entire game. It was not his fault at all, as he had to literally cram himself in the seat. This was a bit aggravating after spending such a high price for these seats. Also, our tickets came with a Club visit, which would have been nice had we been notified about that before the game, we would not have purchased vending food before we sat down.

We enjoyed a stop in at the Green Turtle restaurant attached to the arena which was convenient and had great food and drinks! I was a few weeks out from a foot surgery and the staff was very attentive and helpful with helping me to my seats and giving me ice to put on my foot!

A tight game where both teams controlled the opposition better than they produced scoring opportunities was decided when the Caps keeper behind the goal passed the puck to a Devils player on the wrong side of the red line. It was the kind of error you don't expect to see at this level. At the same time, the goal was impressively taken as the angle was minimal.

The Caps are always exciting to watch. The play is fast, the other associated people (e.g. Slapshot, the Red Rockets, and consistent attendees like the horn blower) really know how to get the crowd involved in the action. Even when they don't win, I always have a blast when I go. My only criticism is that invariable there is someone nearby who doesn't exercise hockey etiquette and makes it hard to see and watch the game. Fortunately the arena personnel are happy to move attendees to better seats when that happens. Let's go Caps! All the way to the Stanley Cup this year!

Getting to the event was pretty easy using the Metro (can't imagine driving; it'd be a nightmare). The seats were easy enough to find and the game itself was good. The half time shows, Mites on Ice in particular, were great. Everyone else really enjoyed the fights (had all of Verizon Center on their feet).

Wicked sick seats in the Bruins' corner, front row. All the cheerleaders passed through that section and the TV interviews took place there. It was also the spot where the non-playing goalies sat and watched/waited. Saw Ted Leonsis and Claude Julien, too. The arena was kept chilly to aid the ice formation and it worked, the ice looked to be in great shape and I saw that it seemed to cause no problems in the play. The players didn't seem to even know it was there, as it should be. Great atmosphere put on by the Caps fans, we all had a love for the game and it showed. Parking was just next door and easy access to the arena. 95 to 395 and straight to the arena, it doesn't get any easier. Hope NHL Hockey returns to the Arena next year!

An excellent game to finish the regular season. The team played well, and the crowd was great. The Verizon Center is one of the loudest buildings in the NHL, with some of the best fans. Nearly every fan was dressed in Caps gear, so the stands were filled with red. And boy is this place loud! Hockey is best seen live, and this is one of the best places to see an NHL game.

First time to the Verizon Center, and first time buying game tickets at Ticketmaster in DC. Had no trouble locating great seats, right behind the Flyers team box. Had a great time sitting next to some Flyers fans/Caps fans, rooted for both teams (I am from out of town so didn't have a favorite), and enjoyed the food, the atmosphere, etc. I am very familiar with hockey, and had only been to Sharks games or Jr Hockey/Youth hockey - so this was really fantastic! Tickets were a little spendy though, and the seat was not quite wide enough - but other than that had a fantastic once in a lifetime evening.

Game was great - venue was easy to get to - concessions were in line with other arenas. I was very disappointed in my seats - not the location, but the actual seats. Ended up in front of the handicap elevator in very rickety folding chairs. Since I specifically picked last row seats to give myself the option of standing and/or leaning during the game, I felt this was unacceptable. It should have been noted somewhere when buying the tickets

Great seats, great game and great food! I treated my son to this game in Sec 100. Had a fun time.
