Paula Poundstone was AMAZING!! She entertained us non-stop for two and a half hours. She had no opening act, no video, no back up dancers or singers. She even did her own introduction from backstage. She was sharp, funny, thoughtful, personable, and surprising. Then she stayed after the show to meet us, sign autographs, and take photos. I LOVED IT!! Thank you Paula, I know you were't feeling well either. Nevertheless, you were GREAT!

My eyes stung I cried so much laughing, and yes I wasn't just wet up top from shrill giggling. Will break my neck to see her when she comes back this way again. We may have lost Robin Williams, but we still have Paula Poundstone thank God\u2026
Putting aside the overly-priced and salty food, and the most horrific opening act I've seen (he was loudly booed by the crowd), it was a great evening! We had comfortable seats with a clear view, an amazing waitress who really did care about her customers, and - of course - the AMAZING Paula Poundstone! Her comedic outlook on life - past and present - is still smart and fresh. She took on everything from her past court experience, getting older, her kids, the Twilight series, and even made remarkable witty jokes about the location of The Coach House. She is truly a gem; they don't make comedians like her anymore. She entertained us for over two hours, which went by too fast. Watching Paula Poundstone live - instead of listening to her on the radio (Wait Wait Don't Tell Me) or a watching a rerun on comedy central - is worth every penny spent. Thank you, Paula, for the best family evening!

We have seen Paula half a dozen times and have thoroughly enjoyed ourselves each and every time. She is smart, clever, funny, quick-witted, topical, and down to earth. Her humor is based on her observations of the world around us all and ordinary, day-to-day life. She talks about the same sorts of things we all talk abut with family and friends, only she is funnier. Her conversations with audience members is so quick and smart. She is the best!

A great show, and a great venue for this type of comedian. About a third of the show is classic stand up, about a third of the show are stories recounted from her own life and the other third is centered around conversations with the audience. But it was all funny!

As always Paula was phenomenal! This was the tenth performance I have attended and I am never disappointed. If you love brilliance and improvisation you will love Paula Poundstone. Her routine is not scripted, but pure improv as she spends the night interacting with the audience. I can't wait for her to come back to the area for my eleventh time seeing her.
There are a lot of smart people, but very few brilliant people. Paul is brilliant because she knows she has a unique view of herself and us. I went not only because I also have a sense of humor and so appreciate hers, but because I wanted to support her. You see, for a few years Paul would come to our camp on the California AIDS Ride (now known as AIDS LifeCycle) at the Lompoc fairgrounds. By that time many of us were so exhausted on that third day of seven riding a bicycle from SF to LA that we really needed a laugh. She delivered and so many of us love her for doing so.
Paula was at the top of her game last night at Mohegan Sun Cabaret. Along with her always slightly-off-center take on her kids, her pets, politics, the economy and more, Paula bantered with the audience about contract administrators, finance management in the state criminal justice system, the woes of special education and the progression of Griswold, CT from milltown to bastion of small gift shops, interplaying the topics with the facility of George Balanchine. One exchange with an audience member led to the creation of an epic drama starring Goldie and Biscuit, rescue dogs who pull their injured mistress from a trench while ineffectual humans remain on the sidelines. Bravo, Paula. Thanks for another great night. Come back to the Nutmeg State soon!
They say 'laughter is the best medicine' and, if so, I am going to have a very healthy year. Paula Poundstone is so facile with humor that she can turn the most mundane occurrence into a laugh riot. I've always loved her humor on radio (Wait Wait Don't Tell Me) and on TV, but seeing her live was delightful. I hope she's back in the Hub soon.
I last saw Ms. Poundstone in the 80s in San Francisco. She was hysterical then and hasn't lost a thing now. She delights in engaging the audience and having a little fun at their expense, but is not mean-spirited about it. She makes her "target" feel like s/he's in on the joke as well. She still wears wacky suits and tells crazy cat lady stories (she owns 14). She talks about politics a little and about being an Atheist, but even a God-fearing Republican would enjoy her show. Most of the two hours I laughed non-stop. Well worth the trip to see her.
Wonderful to see PP again after many years. Saw her at the Punch Line in SF in the 80s, and her act is as good as ever. I particularly liked the way she told stories about her life and wove that into asking people in the audience about theirs. A nice mix! Only complaint would be that she went on almost right at 8pm, the listed showtime and acts usually give a bit more buffer time, and so we just walked in as she was going on. But, a very minor grievance, and I highly recommend this show.
I haven't laughed so much since I met my husband lol. Paula's material was fresh and right on target with what is going on and wrong in our society and country with a hilarious spin on it. I laughed so much that my mouth muscles hurt the next day. Would definitely see her again!
This gal is absolutely top-notch. She's witty, quick thinking, and entertaining. My husband didn't really want to attend and I hoped he'd be amused - he's laughed all through the performance and has been raving about it to friends. See her if you have the chance.

Paula is an exceptional quick witted humorist. She did not miss a beat in her delivery, and played with a few audience members to draw on her spontenaity . A few late arrivals to her performance were used as ploys to draw the audience in. She was not a "laugh a minute", but rather a laugh every second. She performed stand up comedy and kept the audience engaged the entire time. The only part i felt uncomfortable about was when she used her grown children to make fun of in parts of her performance. Other than that, on a scale of 1 to 10. 1 dull and humorless and 10 being on fire, She is a 10. Brillant!

Paula Poundstone was terrific her show lasted almost 2 1/2 hours. Her interaction with the audience was spontaneous and very funny. She covered a range of topics and was funny with deep social insight; especially about electronic media. She wove the humor from the audience back into the skits later in the show seamlessly ;but with very good effect. She had to keep track of all the things she had said and to weave into the up coming material. That showed an uncanny grasps of everything that was going as it happened. We stayed for the meet and greet after the show and Paula was very friendly and easy to talk with. I would highly recommend her show to any one.

I had feared that she was going to just recount the live versions of noteworthy events already detailed in one of her books, but she wasn't even that prepared. Instead she spent the two hours picking out several members of the front audience and carrying on an amusing spur of the moment conversation with each. Clearly her quick witted sarcasm was on-display as she made easy fun of each person's responses to her standard questions. One reply to "What do you do for a living?" was to vague but then the next was too specific making both the topic of a somewhat amusing rant of ridicule by Ms Poundstone as the audience victim stumbled through further explanations of the first reply. This would have been okay as a start before she went on to her prepared material, but after a while we realized that this ad-lib bit was all there was to the performance. After one hour it became clear she was watching the clock with an eye to cutting it off as soon as she met some minimum threshold of stage time. About the same time I too started checking my watch looking forward to this show being over.

It was our first time visiting Parker Playhouse when we saw Paula Poundstone on Saturday. She is so talented. I m not a prude but admire a comedian that can make an audience bust out laughing without using cheap profanity as the punchline. Surprisingly she was not political which now gets easy laughs too. I have always loved her and enjoy listening to Wait Wait Don t Tell Me when she is on. I especially enjoyed meeting her after the show. Parker Playhouse is a very intimate venue. Paula Poundstone was as funny as ever, both in her prepared material and in her trademark spontaneous interactions with the crowd. She was also more political than usual, probably because she seems to share the utter frustration that most of her fans feel (judging by the crowd reaction) over having Trump as President. Sample one-liner: "So now the Republicans have a new version of their health plan - it's just going to cover . . . Trump. If he's feeling o.k., it'll trickle down." She also was even more vehement than usual about her concerns about cell phone and device use by young people, especially in schools. She called on, engaged with but then didn't give much time to a well-meaning special education teacher who was trying to explain that, in some ways, devices can be helpful to some children if used with guidance. But that was the rare serious moment. Mostly she was just hilarious in her unique way. I like seeing her every year or two and plan to keep doing so as long as she keeps touring.

Let me just preface this review by saying that I am a big fan of Paula on the radio and TV. However, I am not a fan of her live show. Her routine mostly consisted of picking out audience members to ridicule and improv with and it wasn't funny. If anything, it was cringeworthy to see the level of stupidity out there in the general public. The physical surroundings certainly didn't help any, as the venue did not have adequate air conditioning and the seats were beyond uncomfortable. You can't move or stretch. She arrived 15 minutes late and proceeded to imprison us for 2 hours because she didn't know how to stop talking. She couldn't wrap it up. It was unbearable, all we wanted to do was leave.

Paula Poundstone made us laugh from the minute she walked onstage until her exit. Her improv skills are truly amazing. I thought maybe the first lady she spoke to was a plant, but when she used several other audience member responses as a part of her act, it was clear it was pure talent. An added bonus was that she was in the lobby of the auditorium before the show for book signings and pictures. That was an unexpected, but really appreciated surprise!

I honestly have never laughed so much at any show--including Paula's appearances at Wait, Wait. However, the audience should be warned that she does pay attention to who is in the room, so if you've made yourself noticeable to her in some way, be prepared! Or, god forbid you should be the one to heckle! There, she was almost mean, but she always comes back to ev-er-y thing and makes it funny later. It impressive how she can come around so the audience realize she has created some kind of thematic relation on all her riffs.

Paula Poundstone was hilarious! Who else could keep us laughing so hard for so long? Just the Rx we needed after a week that was way too busy!

My stomach is still sore from laughing. From hilarious anecdotes about her life to searing, on-the-nose, political quips, Paula ensured the evening was a laugh fest.

My face hurt from laughing non-stop the entire time. 1600 seat Royce Hall looked "sold out" and for good reason.

Literally hoarse I laughed so much. Poundstone's ability to go off the cuff is astounding.

Unfortunately Paula took this opportunity to turn her normal hilarious form into a political platform

Paula was hilarious! She adlibbed most of the show and nailed it. I laugh so much. I definitely recommend seeing her. The Attucks Theater was nostalgic and well laid out. We had a really good time. Also thank you for making us feel safe with tight security, scanning everyone for weapons. I appreciate the efforts to ensure our safety.

I bought my ticket close to the show date, so my seat was far back from the stage. But even so, the sound was good and I could hear every word. She was on stage for about 2 hours and was very funny. I would go again if given the chance.

I had seen Paula Poundstone many years ago and remember laughing all night. She was sharper and funnier than ever last Saturday. Poundstone takes every day situations and weaves them into hilarious monologues that we can all relate to. In addition, her improvisational interactions with the audience are spot on. We loved the show, and are still reflecting and laughing on her comments four days later! If you want to feel better about this world we live in, I highly recommend you go see Paula Poundstone!
