Apocalyptica

Apocalyptica

At the end of 2012, the symphonic metal rock group, Apocalyptica, returned home to Finland to work on "Wagner Reloaded." This concert, a tribute to the 200th anniversary of Richard Wagner’s birth, was a spectacular melding of rock, classical music, dance and theater. It premiered in Leipzig, Germany, on July 5, 2013, and tickets sold out. Fans of Apocalyptica will be excited to hear about the band's upcoming tour, starting March 9, 2014, in Finland.

Some 22 years ago I saw ... um no, EXPERIENCED Apocalyptica for the first time in Helsinki, where they performed as the warm-up band for ... who else but Metallica! Just four guys and four cellos. Since those days they have added a drummer to kick it up a notch and they do \u2014 kick it up a couple of notches! With or without. They actually started this concert by playing in the original format, with just four cellos. They truly are one of a kind. I m so proud to be a Finn!

Although a bit late, this show was unlike any other. Obviously Apocalyptica fans will find this tour refreshing, and also rekindling memories from 1996. The energy of the band and the combined quality of performance made a true experience. At $20, it's absolutely the best value show out there!!

I'm a huge fan. I saw Apocalyptica for the first time about a year and a half ago in Denver, CO. They totally blew me away. The show at Headliners was great! The force of sound these guys generate on stage is mindblowing! Anyone who is a fan of real music should see these guys live! The only negative comment I have is that there was apparently some kind of technical difficulties that delayed the show for about an hour and a half. The show was definitely worth the wait, but there was absolutely no communication (or apology) from the band or the staff of Headliners to let people (your paying customers!) know what was going on. I thought that was very unprofessional of both parties. Regardless, the show was amazing, and I'll see Apocalyptica live any chance I get! Can't wait for the new album!!!

These guys are amazing. Except for having to wait an hour and a half for them to come out (maybe they were getting their hair done?), they blew us away. How they make that much rock come out of three cellos(!!!) and a drum set, I'll never know. Their guest vocalist was the only sour note (we still don't know who he was!) I was disappointed it wasn't Adam Gontier from Three Days Grace, so I wasn't impressed. When it was just the four musicians, they were flawless! What a great show!

My fiancee and I went to a show in San Diego, CA. I love most of their work but was disappointing when there was a different singer then what was on their CD. Other then the 1hour wait after when they were suppose to go on it was great.

Concert was very good and for being first time i saw them " live", the experience was fenomenal. From the first session it was calmly but good. Then, at their second one, things changed drastically and the sound of those cellos with distortion and with the awesome drummer The Filmore was on fire.... It was also my 9 years old son firstvexperience/ concert and he really was headbangin his head and enjoying the sound since he started to pmay violin recently.....

Saw Apocalyptica with my 12 year old daughter and 6 year old son. Had great seats 8 rows from stage. The music was so beautiful. Loved the whole sound. Visual effects cool, too. The guys from the band were super funny. The ONLY negative was after intermission when everyone was invited to move closer to the stage. People from the back of the theater rushed forward, effectively blocking myself and my kids. I stood up, as did my kids, but we couldn't see anything for the rest of the show. I was disappointed because I paid to be closer so my kids had a better chance to see.

The symphony hall was a killer backdrop to both halves of the performance. The first was the classic Metallica by Four Cellos performance - stunning. The second half incorporated the drums and featured Inquisition Symphony tracks. It was a metal concert in a symphony hall lml Fantastic show all around.

Four Cellos create such an amazing sound. The melodic music is full and robust, filling the room, rocking the house! The band revised some pieces they hadn't played in 15 years since they first played with Metallica. One additional piece was composed for Metallica but didn't make the cut all those years ago... the revamped version was sweet.

Not only was the concert simply incredible. Apocalyptica killed it. I got to hear a new band Failure Anthem and with a fill in singer Alexia has amazing vocal ability. 10 Years put on an outstanding show. After the performances both Failure Anthem and 10 Years hung out met and talked to fans and signed autographs and Apocalyptica to make a memorable experience and truly show how humble amazong bands can be. The meet and greet with Apocalyptica was awesome. They are such cool dudes. We need more shows like this and more times to see 10 Years. My hat goes off to the culture room staff to putting on another awesome show. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

My girlfriend and I were so glad that Apocalyptica was able to come back to Dallas after having to cancel the show in December 2010 due to one of the band members getting really sick. This was one of my favorite concerts ever. The music was fantastic and the showmanship was insane. The three on the cellos were so good, but the drummer was really awesome too. It was also great that they brought out a singer for some of their well known songs like End of Me, I'm Not Jesus, I Don't Care, and Bring Them to Light. I will definitely see them again if they come back to NOLA. If you get a chance to see them, I would highly recommend it.

I'ts been a long time since I have been to a concert and I was beginning to feel old but i'll tell you what, this concert had me reliving my concert days and I was rocking out with the younger kids too. Apocalyptica was one of the better concerts I have been to and the guys were so nice and gave you the feeling that they actually cared that you were there and that you werent just a walking dollar sign to them. They are a truly unique group with a definate unique sound and I would definately go to another of thier concerts as well as recommend them to everyone I know. Faultline was the opening act and they were very good as well. The lead singer was very nice and even came down after the set to talk with my young daughter and I and we took pictures. He was a real sweet guy. Also last but not least the National was a great venue and everyone was very nice and helpful. I also recommend that you go to a concert there if you can.

Awesome show! This was a rescheduled show after 1 of the band members got sick and they couldn't play the show in December. It was well worth the wait. They asked a local band to open for them. Faultline. They were really good as well. When Apocalyptica came out, they did a take-no-prisoners show. Start to finish (with 5 Metallica songs thrown in for good measure) they ripped it up. They had good interaction with the crowd, and everyone left happy.

Incredible would be a vast understatement. These guys ROCK...and truly are some of the greatest guys I ever met. Totally cool. Their appreciation for the classics, which they bring and breathe an electrifying life into makes you take pause to remember where music started and where it is now...THIS BAND WILL MAKE YOU APPRECIATE HOW BEAUTIFUL THAT MUSIC IS. To take a classical instrument and rock it like that...sexy as all hell, and quite frankly just reminds me what it is about music I love so much. They take music and made it come full circle...taking where it started and makes it current...and well just ROCKS IT OUT...They made my night PERFECT...probably one of the most amazing performances I have ever witnessed. I cannot thank these boys enough for not only an amazing show, but for their kind, gracious nature which left me with a night I will never forget! Love you guys...come back soon!!!!!

Apocalyptica is AMAZING. Not only are they excellent musicians, they have great stage presence and great chemistry with one another. The whole concert was one, long, thunderous spectacle of awesomeness that cannot be described in words. It helps that I was right in front of the stage :). Now, I do have some criticism for other aspects of the experience. The doors opened a lot later than they were meant to. Also the band that opened for Apocalyptica was pretty mediocre, and then after that band left we waited again, forever, while they played really horrible music. All of this was the fault of the venue though, and my annoyance melted away and was forgotten the second Apocalyptica came on stage.

So I saw Apocalyptica the 1st of September if 2010. It was my frist time getting to see them live and they were amazing. It was everything I expected and more. Sometimes you wonder oh are they going to sound as amazing live as they do on the record and the answer is YES. Seeing them live is nothing in comparison to just listening to CD. The energy they have and the way they interact with the crowd is so fun. They are a hilarious bunch of guys. I have seen plenty of bands live but it is nothing compared to them. You can see in their faces how much they enjoy what they do. Not for the fame, but for the music. You can tell how much they love their music. When they played the 'beautiful' songs as they said which happend to be the two songs of their new album 7th symphony, Sacra and Beautiful, it was a beautiful thing to see and hear. The emotions on their faces and the emotions the songs invoke in you is something beautiful. The band that opened for them Evaline was ok, they were a bit to punky(thats that only thing I can think to describe them) for me. And I honestly hated Dir En Grey. I won't deny that they aren't talented and they are a great band if you like that kind of music but I don't. I got into them because of the energy but they are not someone I would seek out and listen to. The only thing I didn't like was the ignorance of a handful of the Dir En Grey fans who obviously only went to the show for them and instead of just leaving after Dir En Grey was gone they stayed and like I said were ignorant. Yelling Dir En Grey over and over when Apocalyptica played Beautiful and Sacra. After the show (Which was at the HOB) They had an after party type thing upstairs that if you got in line fast enough you could get into. When I met the guys they were really nice and funny and were taking pictures with everyone and just goofing off. It was a fun show and a fun after party. They are probably the most down to earth funny guys I have ever met in a band. Can't wait to see them again in a few days in Michigan.

I went to the S.F. show.... One word, AMAZING!!! Growing up in So. Cal. I was blessed to be exposed to a variety of musical gernes'. From The L.A. Philharmonic Orchestra w/ Pavaroti to Madame Butterfly at the Pan. Threater, the Us fest., to Oz fest , even the Ink Spots! (Swear i'm not braggin' just proud!) The Beauty of Apocalyptica is that they can bring you to tears in one song then rock you into an intensly insane song that will leave you breathless and sweating profusly!! They bring you into their world and that in itself is a rarety these days! They share their passion with whoever takes the time to really "feel" what the're playing instead of just "hearing" it with their ears... Even with it being the second to the last venue on their N. American tour and lets not forget Perttu's injury that left half of his face black and blue, they were Amazing!!!! Can't wait till they tour N. America again. Maybe they won't have a scheduling mishap next time that resulted with them cancelling the Chico Ca. show!!

It was definitely one of the best concerts I've seen of either of them. I've seen Dir en Grey 3 times now and they seemed much more laid back this time around. Their music was wonderfully played, like always and they were crowd pleasers to the very end. This was the second time I've seen Apocalyptica and they were just as great as the first time. Their guest singer, Tipe Johnson, was a great addition to the concert because he sang multiple songs. (Toryn Green was on tour with them last time around and he only sang one song, if I remember correctly.) Unfortunately, it was rather packed and so I wasn't able to get very good photos of Dir en Grey but I eventually squeezed my way to the front through the moshing. I would definitely recommend going to this concert if you like even only one song from either of these bands.

I can't believe what happend that night... My hands were shaking from all the excitement. I was at the very front of the crowd, and I'm very glad I was! Dir en Grey was great, Evoline was alright... wouldn't recommend them though, I did not like the singer... When Apocalyptica was about to play, Mikko(Drummer) came out and was very chill. During Apo's performance, I had eye contact with Paavo and blew a kiss at him and to my surprise he kissed me back! That wasn't the end of my luck... almost at the end of the show he came up to me and I quickly took out my ticket & sharpie and he signed it!! =D I was so stoked. Then I noticed that one of his strings had broken, I saw him taking it off and was coming towards me and so he did! He handed it to me - my hands started shaking - Then before they left the stage he looked back at me and blew a kiss goodbye to me.... ♥

Amazing musicianship and stage performance from the Finnish quartet.... the venue was beautiful (and oddly perfect for this blend of classical instruments and classic metal) and sounded perfect. Highly recommend attending an event at Uptown Theater or seeing Apocalyptica anywhere!

Apocalyptica was AMAZING! I had meet 'n' greet tickets - that was a dream come true and once in a lifetime experience! The venue, Uptown Theater; is beautiful! The staff was friendly; helpful; and everything was very organized and went smoothly. The band is charming; and very generous to their fans; being kind; posed for pictures; signed autographs; took time to talk and listen to people; went out of their way to show their appreciation in return to their fans! I know they made several of us extremely happy with their kindness! I highly recommend if you have the opportunity to go see them; to do so! Their music is incredible; the show they put on high energy; fun; and very entertaining!

Chandler Center for the Arts is a nice venue. The crowd was wonderful, very involved providing the lyrics to the songs and a standing ovation after most every song. All people who like Mettallica should see this show. All people who like cellos should see this show.

I've seen Apocalyptica several times. This was my favorite. The concert hall sound was fantastic. The size of the venue is such that there are no bad seats in the place. As always, the band was phenomenal. They are consummate and passionate musicians and they interact with the audience. What helped to make the show was the audience. They were clearly there for this band/music. They showed appreciation and the band fed off the energy. I hope to see them invited back on a yearly basis. I will be there every time!

This was the third time in less than a year seeing them and the first to a meet and greet. The meet and greet was awesome with photos, autographs and inter-action from the band to start the evening off. The band ROCKED both set. It was Perttu's 40th birthday, so the band was all in on the celebration along with the fans. With there playing of Metallica songs on the cello's how can you top such a great evening. Highly recommend both the band Apocalyptica and the Fox Performing Arts Center.

These guys are so talented and entertaining. Metallica... By Four Cellos in its entirety jammed out as fast as possible. Intermission, then the drums kick in and they seriously get down! I'll go see Apocalyptica any time they come to town.

This was for sure a different experience with the metal Genre. I dig the expression of the stringed instruments. It actually adds a bit more bass tone to everything. It was such a great experience. Can t wait till the next show!!!

I wasn't sure what to expect, but to say I was blown away was an understatement. I still have chills remembering how beautifully their cellos played . They played with the audience and you could see how much fun they were having not just with us but with each other. I cannot wait till they come back to the US I will definitely see them again!
