Awesome to see MBV kick ass like 2 miles from my place. My son is 16 and a huge fan, and I think he was truly shocked at how loud the show was. I tried to warn him haha. So glad he had the opportunity to catch them in his lifetime. Truly a rare band to see live. I was a little bummed to hear the mix which basically had the vocals very very low, to the point you couldn t even really tell anyone was singing. I know that s not a giant element of MBV s thing, but I would have loved to hear Bilinda and Kevin clearer. Outside of that, it was amazing and I was so glad we our tickets early.

I will be honest, I wasn't sure how good a show this would be. I was worried it might just be a bunch of shoegazers playing without passion. And while every band member had a different stage presence and personality, they all performed with passion and impressed me with their talent. I believe the band achieved their goal of creating that shimmering hypnotic concert experience that leaves you rattled and amazed. The volume was intensely loud. I think it helped that we were on the balcony toward the back. I'm not sure I would have enjoyed the show if I had been a whole lot closer. But from where we sat I had an amazing time.

Guess I went to this show with few expectations since no one I knew had ever seen MBV, but I sure left excited and ready to see them again. The visuals were awesome and the music was super tight. Hammerstein is a nice venue when they don't cover the floor with seats, so thumbs up for that. Openers DIIV were a great warmup as well, perfect for setting the stage for MBV. If they ever come back, they are not to be missed!

My Bloody Valentine produced a full sonic environment, very much living up to the standards of Loveless and the new M B V albums. Good sound - it was loud of course as it had to be, but not unbearable. A unique experience.

MBV was/is one of the most innovative bands out there. Unfortunately their live show was an exercise in frustration. There were glimmers of the euphoric, numinous, mind-splitting waves of sound found in the studio. But most of that was plastered over by the shrill cophony of ultrasonic distortion and unrecognizable tremolo. Too many songs on Loveless and Isn't Anything were reduced to mostly feedback and reverb. Vocals were unhearable instead of blending into the rhythm and bass as a mysterious living instrument. The show sounded as if this was the brainchild of a 12 yr old in their basement covering MBV with the amp cranked to 11. Almost all the subtlety and nuance was lost in ear-deafening pink noise madness. We moved all around the space to see if there was a sweet spot to no avail. A few songs (mostly from the new album) pierced the fog of insanity during the first half of the set, but the scene seemed to get worse as time went on. Perhaps it was a problem with the sound engineer or the mixing, but there was no encore and I don't think anyone cared after hearing over 10 minutes of unrelenting droning for their swan song.

This was one of the greatest shows ever. The sonic wall was everything, and the band sounded amazing. I yearned for more vocals but in the end, thats their style.

It was hard to see no matter here you were (due to the stage set up). You couldn't hear any vocals. The band just plowed though songs with minimal audience interaction, and without any dancing.

My Bloody Valentine was a bucket list band for me. They did not disappoint! Great lights & set list. Only quibble is the vocals were buried in the mix but then again the records are like that. I have been to 100's of shows over the years & the last 15 minutes of the show was the loudest music I've ever heard. The song "You Made Me Realize" is the band's traditional set closer. I would compare it to standing next to a running jet engine during an earthquake. People were stunned. I wore plugs & my ears are still ringing. The song is oddly beautiful though. There was no encore but after "Realize" anything else would've been pointless. Note: as usual, the Showbox staff were very good about accomodating patrons with special needs. I've got mobility issues & the Showbox (both venues) are the best about making sure that my experience is a good one. They are both excellent clubs & the best run music clubs I've experienced.

Finally getting to hear new material played live by this group was going to be good enough, the last minute venue change to the Showbox SODO changed this into a legendary gig. The sound system (Provided by Monster) has finally made that venue a good place to see a show. They has ample opportunity to show off how loud that new system could go as Kevin seemed hell bent to wrench even more elastic sounds from his guitar on stage than he had over the last couple of decades in his studio. The new material was AMAZING sounding. Actually much closer in live performance than a lot of the Loveless material ends up being. Wonder 2 had Colm joining Kevin and Belinda on guitars at the front as well as new guitar/keyboardist Jen bringing up the rear. The holocaust was present and correct as ever. Like lighting your cigarette with the engine from a star destroyer: just TOO loud.

Like many, I had waited a long time (20 years) to get to see MBV in my city. I was fully prepared to be disappointed - how could this show live up to the expectation created by the wait and endless reviews of "loudest band in the world" blah blah blah? Well, I'm not sure if MBV are the loudest and I really don't care if they are - this show was absolutely one of the best gigs I have ever been to. I had formed expectations of an uncontrolled wall of shrill feedback. The SOUND itself is so rich and dense, layers and layers of processed sounds swirling and drilling into your cranium. The ultimate Psychedelia. Every song sounds incredible, you can tell a lot if work went into giving these songs another dimension in a live setting. In fact, I found that every song sounds completely different and revitalized. Well done, Kevin and company, please bring it back to philly!

Earplugs are for wimps! Second row right by the speakers, in front of Kevin, a wall of sound, sheer awesomeness, walls of amps and speakers stacked and they blew out some. omg, mbv!

Waited 23 years for this one, it was way worth it! The sheer enormity of MBV's live sound is something that can't be put into words, you read about how they are considered one of the loudest live acts to ever grace a stage & yes, this is probably true. But what you don't get until you see them live is how this insane wall of sound actually works. Their show is a full-body/mind experience, I had huge expectations & was still floored beyond words 3 days later. The Bill Graham Civic Auditorium worked really well with MBV's sound, acoustics were very impressive, very clean, no bouncing sound... great overall experience! My Bloody Valentine... If you ever have a chance to see them live, go!!!!

Sound wasn t dialed in until near the end of the set, when they played Soon . They botched a few songs. I was simply bored. Ticket prices way too high. Opening band Lumerians was a nice surprise, and outperformed MBV.

Unlike other revival tour concerts of 90's bands, My Bloody Valentine got past the skin of the past two decades for me, and opened up the ecstatic freshness that made their show at the Warfield long ago a signal event in my life. My ears refused to quite endure the entirety, so I missed the finale, but the rest of the program was brilliant and "uncompromising" and as creative as the day I first heard "Isn't Anything" on my sister's stereo.

the concert was way too loud caused me anxiety vertigo. my partner and I both agreed to leave after 4 songs. I would ask for a refund here if possible. Do not recommend I have listened to my bloody valentines albums since 1991. Even with ear plugs was a waste of time and $. perhaps i should seek a chargeback from the credit card company now that your are asking me what i thought?

Beyond belief. A titanic wall of sound like nothing I have ever heard. It was more a series of sonic sculptures, than songs. And, the way they use their vocals as instruments - brilliant. Still trying to mentally unravel the whole experience. I'm not sure I have ever seen an audience so shell-shocked.

I assumed that Kevin Shields would bring his own sound. Guess I was wrong; the sound guy was overwhelmed by the instructions given for each song. It was kind of sad watching him fumble. And Dumb Numbers sounded even worse, just narrow sound range with no sharpness. Not going back to Electric Factory again if I can help it.

Douglas Adams describes (what might as well be My Bloody Valentine) as: "A plutonium rock band from the Gagrakacka Mind Zones, they are generally held to be not only the loudest rock band in the Galaxy, but in fact the loudest noise of any kind at all. Regular concert goers judge that the best sound balance is usually to be heard from within large concrete bunkers some thirty-seven miles from the stage, while the musicians themselves play their instruments by remote control from within a heavily insulated spaceship which stays in orbit around the planet or more frequently around a completely different planet." Seriously, though. MBV is about the hugest band you could see live. Not like Metallica huge, it's different than that. No grandstanding. More like Sonic Youth. But bigger sound. Colm Ó Cíosóig is an amazing drummer. I knew every song but it often took me 30 seconds to realize what I was hearing. Interestingly, Kevin Shields farmed out much of his signature whammy bar bendy notes to an additional musician, a woman who stood stage right behind Bilinda. They ended with the infamous You Made Me Realize (6 minute C chord ending) and no encore. Great Show. There is (still) no other band like MBV.

If you would like to explore the far end of the sonic rainbow as the limits of sound shred the inner core of your auditory comprehension then you cannot miss this show. The rhythms, the vocals, the guitar roars/melodies and percussion were simply all in sync. The audience appeared to be completely in entranced and enraptured at the volume and structure of the emanating sound. MBV is loud. I mean vibrating my internal organs and the chairs around me loud. Please bring some ear plugs (not provided in venue). Have fun and enjoy.

In fact it was VERY loud! They gave us earplugs on the way in (and bless them for it). I would say that if you were not familiar with their music, you would not be able to tell which song was which. If I were 20 something again, I might have thought that was fun (I did when I left a Ted Nugent concert unable to hear anything, but that was 30 years ago). So use your earplugs and enjoy the show.
