Tenth Avenue North

Tenth Avenue North

In 2012, award-winning contemporary Christian band Tenth Avenue North released their third studio album, "The Struggle," which made an impressive impact by debuting in the top spots of Billboard's Christian and Rock charts. "Losing," the band's lead single from the new album, has gained attention because of its relatable theme. Inspired by a fan that had trouble forgiving others, the tune is a gentle reminder that forgiveness is cleansing and beneficial for everyone involved. The band is known for live shows that are engaging, memorable and filled with opportunities for audience participation.

Excellent music, excellent message, energy and performance. Overall a really great night. Wish it had been marketed better because most people in the area didn't even know about it.

The KLove Christmas concert was amazingly awesome! It was so great to be praising God with Danny Gokey, Sidewalk Prophets, Natalie Grant, and Tenth Avenue North! Danny even took time to meet his fans and take pictures with us. Couldn't have been better!

My husband, I and our 14 year old son and two of his buddies went to see 10th Ave North and we all totally loved the show. The boys were saying,"That was so tight and I would so go see them again." We loved their music, their honesty and their humor. They made the Gospel and sharing it relevant, real and attainable.

Awesome concert. Awesome time of worship. I was so blessed not just by their incredible gifts for worship leading, but also their gifts of exhortation through scripture... almost more blessed by the times of exhortation by scripture interspersed throughout song, than the actual music component... I was really blessed by the time...

I love the music, the word, and Tenth Ave. Norths way of putting the truth out there "dead on." I don't like the fact of standing for 3 1/2 hours. Many have bad backs and legs. Bass was set too high.. I don't think that I would go to another concert there. Still love them though. We would see them at any other venue I know.

I was in LOVE with Tenth Avenue North before...And now that I have actually seen their concert, I would go over and over again! They are the most humble and amazingly blessed group ever! It felt like a worship session, not just them singing to us, but WITH us. UNBELIEVABLY AMAZING.

What an awesome concert and worship experience. They had great openers! My husband and I had fun rocking out, singing, listening to, and worshiping along with the huge crowd and Tenth Avenue North. They did a great encore too! The lead singer was funny as well and lightened up the serious moments mood while letting it be what it was still.

All the groups were amazing! The only reason I gave it 4 stars it because there were NO chairs!!! I wish that it would have been advertised before hand that it was a standing concert! After standing in line for 1 hour to get good seats (because it was General Admission) then we stood for another hour before the concert started. During Chris August and Adision Rd it was fine, but once Tenth aVenue north called for an intermission to check out the Compassion booth we were all crammed into the space. It might have been an awesome experience for the young fans but for me (middle aged) it was a long and hard night standing!

The bands were great. The music was wonderful. The songs inspiring. But there was no mention ANYWHERE that it was a standing only concert. I am older and stood for 3 1/2 hours with people even older than me and it was not easy, nor was it fun. I rarely saw any of the people on the stage. Younger, rowdier, taller people squeezed their way in front of us just as 10th Ave began to play. That's fine if you don't want to offer seats at your venue, BUT IT NEEDS TO BE CLEARLY ADVERTISED! I will NEVER attend a concert at Mars Hill Church again! We had to leave early because it was hot, I'm not used to standing that long and I got light-headed. Besides the fact that I appreciate my space and did not appreciate getting constantly "bumped" by everyone around me because we were squished together like sardines.

This is the 5th time I have seen Tenth Avenue North but the first time I've been to the Variety Playhouse. We debated about going up to the day of the show because of ATL traffic and possible parking issues. But we are SO glad we went. Parking wasn't a problem and surprisingly, ATL traffic wasn't tooooo bad. The guys in the band laid their hearts and souls on the stage with a staggering amount of energy. They grabbed the crowds' attention from the very first song and never lulled through the entire set. This just may have made the top of the list for favorite concert ever!

I just went to the Tenth Avenue North concert this past weekend, and I just want to say I found the experience incredible. Mike and the guys brought energy and their inspirational message to the Adler Theatre for a wildly enthusiastic crowd. The mixture of behind the music story-telling and intense emotion, along with some amazing musical talent, left us all clamoring for more. TAN rocked the Adler bringing such an encouraging message of hope that Iowa will never be the same!! The pre-show Q&A session was a nice opportunity to see the guys up close and personal, but was much too brief! We can't wait to see what's next for these five young men as they will surely continue to inspire and invigorate everyone who hears their music and their message.

In addition to the music being amazing, the concert felt very personal. The lead singer Mike is clearly very talented both musically and in expressing his faith in ways that are very relatable. Okay, just about everything about the concert was awesome... the location, the church setting, the seating, the MUSIC, the inspirational messages throughout the concert. Both back up bands. BUT.. two things that were bothersome, and I enjoy loud music and all, but it seemed as though the acoustics?.. the instruments, out played the singing. I would have loved to hear the words a little more clearer. Don't get me wrong, it was an awesome concert. Also the lighting was bothersome. I think they should re-think how they shine those BRIGHT lights into the crowd. I saw A LOT of people trying to shield their eyes and later during the show, I think it got somewhat better. But I think they can improve on the lighting. (Decrease it into the crowd)

At the Q&A meet-and-greet, there weren't many of us there, why wouldn't you wrap it up by having a 'receiving line' of sorts, so we could walk past and shake all their hands if we want? What a blessing to have such a sincere Christan band perform at the Orange County Fair 2012. I invited my sister and 11-year old niece to join me just because this band was playing at the OC Fair on Sunday, July 22nd. We had such an awesome night of praise and worship, as was inspired to enjoy all aspects of what the fair had to offer us as patrons to the event. We truly enjoyed the energy and love that Tenth Avenue North gave to the fans and was exalted to see how each member allowed the holy spirit to lead their performance with such joy and passion in their music ministry. A great big "Thank you to the OC Fair administrators" for adding Tenth Avenue North to their Hanger concert line-up this year! We could not have prayed and been blessed with a more perfect day & evening! You can be certain that we will recommend The Hangar concert series at the OC Fair, especially if the line-up includes Tenth Avenue North again next year! In his love, Tammy L, Holly & Bella Z

This was the worst Christian concert I have ever been to. I brought 2 unsaved guests along and after the concert the only question from them was we're supposed to devote our life to santa? I thought Side walk prophets were really good and would probably see them alone but not with the others. This was not Glorifying to God or edifying to His servants. I felt like I had glass in my ears when Natalie Grant sang, and my ear drums were going to shatter. I was so embarrassed for my 2 unsaved guests.

VERY DISSAPOINTING. IT WAS A BIRTHDAY PRESENT TO MY HUSBAND AND HE WAS MISERABLE THE ENTIRE TIME. THE BASS WAS WAY TO LOUD AND HE PUT EARPLUGS IN WITH WADDED UP TISSUE TO ENDURE A LITTLE LONGER. COULD NOT UNDERSTAND THE WORDS ADDISON ROAD OR 10TH AVE WERE SINGING BECAUSE OF THE VOLUME. SITTING ON THE FLOOR WAS A TOTAL DISSAPOINTMENT. WE WERE DRESSED UP AS IT WAS A BIRTHDAY DATE. Didn't know Matt Maher was even going to be there, so what a great bonus. Just starting really listening to Addison Road in prep for the Concert - they are great! Could have used a little more of these 2 groups. 10th Avenue North has an awesome sound too and loved there set. My only issue is this - with every Christian concert you expect and enjoy the devotional speaking moments. While the 10th Avenue North lead is a phenomenally gifted speaker and motivator, he offered a few too many stories for me at a "music" concert.

I came for the music - I and received a holy spirit-filled experience! The lead singer of the band is so led by the Spirit as he shares with his audience the story behind each song. He is a story-teller, comedian, pastor, and singer combined into one. The band plays songs that are so full of God's Word and the Christian experience. I have been listening to "Light Meets the Dark" CD non-stop in my van ever since hearing them live. I am so thankful that there are cool bands and contemporary music such as 10th Ave North, Matt Mayer, and Addison Road for Christians to hear. Thanks for the awesome evening of worship!

I first saw Tenth Avenue North and Addison Road when they toured together on the "Rock 'n Worship Road Show" with Mercy Me, Jeremy Camp, and Hawk Nelson. I was absolutely blown away by them then, and this concert was exponentially better. Mike Donehey (the lead singer of Tenth Ave. North) is the most eloquent, to-the-point, spot-on Christian speaker I can ever remember hearing, bar none. Before his band sang a single note, Mike spoke for around 20 minutes straight about Compassion International. Sadly, those interludes are typically the time at which audience members take a break, visit booths, etc, but I don't remember seeing anyone pick up and leave; Mike's talk riveted the crowd and spoke to the heart of what it means to be an authentic follower of Christ. There were no pretenses, no acts, no trite cliches. He cut through the accumulated baggage of Christianity and got to the point: following Christ means loving others and doing something about it. Apart from the awesome speaking, the music was phenomenal. Matt Maher blew us away with "Your Grace is Enough," "Alive Again," "Love Will Hold Us Together," plus a little Bob Marley. Addison Road performed almost their entire "Stories" album, as well as a few from their original self-titled release. I've been following Jenny and the guys since that original Rock 'n Worship Road Show (having also caught them a couple months ago in Great Falls, MT), and I just love those guys. They love each other, and they have an earnest heart God and their music; that love comes out loud and clear, and they're just FUN to watch. And of course, Tenth Avenue North rocked the house. With only two albums released thus far, the audience was well-versed in their music, so it was a very interactive experience. The guys just don't themselves too seriously, and I pray that they are able to maintain that outlook throughout their career. As I frequently tell people, this band has never written a "B" song; every song carries the weight of truth, and their talent with arranging music is phenomenal. Without question, Tenth Avenue North is my favorite band right now, and that's unquestionably owed to the pure, genuine Christianity modeled by Mike Donehey and reflected in the lyrics of their songs. On a technical note, Turning Point Open Bible church was an excellent venue, with great acoustics and clear line-of-sight to the stage. The shape of the auditorium allowed the entire audience (even us, three rows from the back) to be close enough to the artists to clearly distinguish expressions and feel that much more connected with the bands. I regularly attend concerts, and as a worship leader myself, I tend to to be overly critical of "productions" and "performances." I've seen my share of them, so believe me when I say that this is a show worth seeing. I haven't stopped raving to everyone I see about this awesome ensemble, and I doubt you will, either, if you get the chance to see them.

This was a really good concert, my daughter and I enjoyed it very much. I wish the venue had filled up more, but we had a good, responsive crowd. All three bands were amazing! Matt is so good live! Mike is really funny, talks a lot, but then they performed for about 90 mins. Plus the other two bands!

I thought the 3 bands were great. But If I pay $25 a ticket I expect to have a seat. Why would they not have seats?

Loved the message and hearts of all of these bands. I must be too old because it was too loud.

Great music, humble musicians, a focused mission, and laughter all combine to make this a great show for young and old. I did not know many of the songs when I went but, am planning to buy more of their music. We stayed late and most of the band came out to sign autographs. Even during the signing the band members took their time and wanted to talk instead of just trying to get through the line. Also two encores.

I've been to many concerts but this one by far surpasses them all!!! These guys are very talented but most of all have beautiful hearts which shinned through during their performance!! I loved that they took the time to talk to the audience and share with them what was on their heart. This event was far more than a concert and I'm thankful I was able to be there. It was exactly what my heart and soul needed. I look forward to seeing them again in concert!!

Excellent show!! We had already seen Tenth Avenue North before and wanted to see them again. One of the better Christian bands out there. Only reason I am giving a 4 star instead of a 5 is personal taste. Michael from 10th Ave is a great speaker and very funny as well! He was able to get many different emotions out of you.

The music is excellent, but the band is about more than just music. They are about giving God glory and helping the poor as well. Mars Hill is not an easy place to get to on a weeknight at rush hour and not set up well for parking and dropping off teenagers. I will think twice before taking that on again!

All of the bands were great! Matt Maher, Addison Road and Tenth Ave North. They were all very uplifting and engaging. Lead singer of Tenth Ave North, very funny! He could do stand up. Very passionate and really walked out of there with renewed energy.

Tenth Avenue North was outstanding! This was not a good place for a concert. The sound is not very good and we had to stand for 4 hours because there were no chairs. Wonderful songs and good length for concert.

This show rocked. The music started slower with Chris August, and picked up as Addison Road and Tenth Avenue North took the stage. Then came Healing Begins from Tenth Avenue North, and suddenly, the crowd went nuts and paid absolute attention to the rocking songs with a softer edge to it. However, it wasn't just rocking out. There were some softer reflective moments too, and even a promotion for the organization Compassion making it music with a mission: to serve in the name of Jesus. This was a great concert for anyone who believes in Christ.

Tenth Avenue North has been one of my favorite bands since their first album. So when I found out they were coming to Seattle, I was stoked. The concert was even better than I thought it would be. They are funny, passionate, and extremely talented. If you ever have a chance, go. I know I would go again if given the chance. =)

Although the acoustics at Mars Hill was lacking the message of the music and artists was not. Chris August, Addison Road, and TenthAve.No. were awesome as they shared their lives and songs with us, making me feel more connected not only to them but their message in the music.

This was my first Christian concert that I've ever attended, so I wasn't really sure what to expect. But the overall experience was far greater than anything I ever could of apprehended. They are wonderful musicians and sounded incredible live as they do on their CDs. I laughed, cryed, prayed, sang...it was amazing!
