The enthusiasm and energy put forth by the members made this a very memorable occasion. The variety of the music and the expertise of the soloists enhanced the performance to make this an unforgetable experience. I will make every effort to see the Dirty Projectors whenever they are in my area. A full five stars in my opinion!

I thought that their live performance wouldn't be as good as their album because of they way they sing and play guitar. I'm glad I was wrong!! Very pretty people in this band too.

I thought this was just a great show. You do have to be "musically adventurous" to appreciate this band, it certainly is not easy listening. DP go for some very complex stuff, and they generally pull it off. The only band that I can kind of relate them to is "Captain Beefheart", but only in the spirit of the adventurousness of their music. There is definitely a "punk" element to this band, think "Sonic Youth". I would say that this is sort of a "Punk Progressive" band. There rough edges to them, it's certainly not a classical music concert. I think I had a grin on my face the entire time. I was about 7 rows in from the band and got to experience it up close. Great. Would go see them again in a minute.

I felt like I was watching a bit of music history unfold before me as I was ensnared by the sounds of Dirty Projector at Terminal 5 in NYC this past weekend. The forcefully declared that they are not slaves to genres, melodies, or rehashed sound. Ever innovative but catchy, each song blew my mind, as the set list was perfectly arranged with an astounding variety. This band is on the forefront of what music can be if we dare to break away from standard chord progressions and song structure. At times they seemed to break the rules for the sake of doing so, but they grounded this with masterful musicianship and three and four part harmonies. I will never forget this show, and I will be seeing them as much as possible from here on out.

Owen was absolutely amazing. I have never seen such talents and innovative sound from one single individual. It was fresh, new and sensational. Dirty Projectors were show stoppers, to say the least. I would see them 35 more times at the same venue. LOVED EVERY MINUTE.

See the dirty projectors. It is a great time. There are alot of hipsters and plaid button downs sadly. For an indie show everyone is dressed ironically the exact same. The people in the band do not dress like hipsters, so that's nice. The dirty projectors are fantastic live. The opener was interesting. Terminal 5 is a place to go over and over again.

They were so good! this is my second time seeing them live. I would definitely say that they do better on a smaller stage though. I saw them at Lollapalooza less than a month ago and the stage was huge causing them to all be spread out. I enjoyed seeing them at Trocadero about 10 times more.because they were closer together and could interact with each other better. Sooooo much fun and I would give it 5 stars except that the middle of their performance lagged a little bit but that is my ONLY complaint!

Speakers popping, constant hum, and feedback is what I remember most about the show. How insulting to assume faulty equipment is acceptable? There was a slow song that was do e with one guitar and one chick singing. I could not make out a single word sung, the audio quality was that bad. But still the crowd applauded. Crazy.

The vocals of the Dirty Projectors are harmonic, sometimes dissonant, beautiful and mysterious. The insturmental dexterity is unconventional. In combining the two the Dirty Projectors project their brilliant vision into a musical future of unique sound and rhythem. In concert they are amazing and mesmerizing- I can't wait to see them again!

I guess I went to see the Dirty Projects at the Wiltern on Saturday. You wouldn't know it, though -- the stage and lighting were so boring that it could have been my living room. Three boring linen panels clipped to frames backed the band, and the lighting ranged from beige to drab. The band was okay, the highlight was the harmonies of the girl backup singers. I'm not a huge fan of their music so I can't really name anything they played. I should disclose that I saw Kaskade at Staples Center on Friday and anything after that spectacle would probably pale in comparison. But regardless, in a summer that's included Santigold, Beach House and The XX it was a bit of a letdown to see this bunch. Quick note: Getting really tired of being turned away from arbitrary VIP sections. When my ticket says General Admission Floor I assume that means that I am admitted to any general part of the floor. Where did I have the chance to upgrade to VIP?

The dirty projectors are a fun and interesting band to listen to - a unique sound, strong songwriting, and beautiful harmonies. I was aware from friends that they are a good band to see live, but actually seeing them still blew me away. The band is very tight musically, and while they don't try to blow you away with visuals, experiencing their songs live breathes all kinds of energy into them. Most people would not consider them dance music by any means, but they had me moving the whole time (but that is also just me - I like to feel the music). Highly recommended, but only if you are familiar with the band - the songs are better if you can sing along and comprehend and feel the meaning of the clever lyrics.

this was definitely one of the greatest live performances i've ever seen. I didn't expect anything less from the Dirty Projectors, but i was in awe when i was actually there experiencing it first hand. we arrived at the fox at about 7:45 and had no trouble at all getting to the very front of the crowd. everybody was in such a good mood after the show, and those good moods were definitely contagious.

Dirty Projectors are always amazing. The Fox is a beautiful theatre with decent sound. The opener Wye Oak was horribly boring, incredibly loud and the sound during their set was relatively awful. Other than that and spending $7 per beer I would have to say this show was completely awesome.

Wye oak's performance was much better than I expected after having listened to a couple of there songs before the show. The drummer/keyboard/bassist was very talented. The Dirty Projectors were AMAZING! Holy mother of god that music moved my soul. The harmony's and straight musical talent that bands has. The band is a billion times better live. There new album is awesome. Highly recommend watching this band. I was talking to the security guy who was heavily into metal music and even he was blown away. The atmosphere was great too.

Hadn't listened to them before. I could tell they were good musicians, but it seemed sloppy. The sound set up was optimized for pure noise, so it was difficult to understand what was playing when. Started with the most well known song, then continued to increasingly esoteric songs. Very little interaction with the audience. If you know them you might've enjoyed the show, but unfortunately I did not.

As though even the heat needed to give pause to listen, the night brought in a gentle breeze. Dirty Projectors put on a show to raise spirits, generate awe, and inspire even the most dejected. This group of supremely talented individuals are taking influences from across myriad genres and creating a sound all their own, pushing popular music into corners that they are then bursting into open, brightly colored canyons. In a word, Incredible.

The band put on a great show. They have a lot of energy and are a lot of fun to watch live. It wasn't the greatest venue - the drink options were limited and were cash-only. Plus, there wasn't a lot of standing room.

Great show. From the songs and videos I'd heard I was impressed that they were trying to do origional things. Being experimental usually means that not everything works and they seemed a bit disjointed. But here in their last concert of the tour they were amazingly tight for a band using disonant chords and uneven rhythms. It made for a much richer and more interesting sound. They make almost everything out there now obsolete. UM

I must admit I had my doubts about Dirty Projectors as a live band, what with the intricate harmonies, crazy rhythmic stop/starts and jittery guitar lines. In fact, I passed up a chance to see them at Sasquatch in favor of Pavement, only to be told later that the Projectors were one of the festival highlights. So I gave them another shot at the far more intimate Showbox Market, and I was NOT disappointed. Their live energy is raw and infectious, the three women in the band all sing just as beautifully live as in the studio, and lead singer/songwriter/guitarist/freaking genius David Longstreth is an unstoppable force onstage. I even enjoyed the all ages atmosphere, although I was at least twice the age of most of the kids who surrounded me, mostly because they (like me) didn't act too cool to care, as so many Seattle hipster fans seem to do. There was much bouncing, dancing, and joyful celebration. It was a killer show, and I'm soooo glad I got to see it.

My 26 year old son recommended the Dirty Projectors to me some time ago, and I finally had an opportunity to see the them at the Wilbur Theatre in Boston a couple of weeks ago. They totally blew me away! Band mastermind Dave Longstreth is a genius! (Angel and Amber are so unbelievably talently as well). The band was awesome, the singing and playing was truly amazing. I know it may sound rather ...weird(?).. for a 54 year old to gush on about a modern experimental rock band, but for those of you who appreciate musical talent in this genre, this is a group you NEED to check out. Btw, the opening act was Owen Pallett (formerly, Final Fantasy), and this is my assessment: I would have just as well gone to see him as a featured act. In fact, after his performance, I turned to my son and said, "Well. I could leave right now and truly feel I totally got my money's worth." Of course, I wasn't going to do that, and like I said, the DPs was truly amazing. You know, as an old guy, I can say, it's very reassuring to know that even today, despite all the sounds of artificiality in today's pop music, there is still excellent original music being produced by the 'young artists', if one looks for it!

To describe the Dirty Projectors I will frequently use the word unique, because that's exactly what they are. They weren't the number one show out of all that I've seen, simply because I've seen a lot of great shows, but they definitely have a unique playing style unlike any group I've ever seen before, and they certainly rocked the house at First Ave in Minneapolis. Frontman Dave Longstreth has a unique playing and songwriting style that the rest of the band seems to just understand. Drummer Brian McOmber creates some really unique beats with such strange yet amazing time signatures. The vocal harmonies between Angel, Amber, and Haley are so unique and gorgeous and blend together fantastically. All of their parts work so well together and really make them who they are. Plus Angel is beautiful so there's that... I would definitely recommend them to a friend and will be going again myself next time they are in town.

With the musical intracies depicted on their studio stuff, I was sure I was in for a treat. My girlfriend and I were reasonably content in knowing this show would be fun, groovy, and sufficiently bouncy...It blew us away, each song more than the last! They reproduce even their most busy studio stuff with devastating accuracy PLUS the infusion of their live energy - which is simply astounding. You are not amazed right now. You are reading and thinking about my words. You will be amazed watching this six piece - three guys, three girls - act as one peice. We pay people to watch them PLAY. These folks do not perform, they play.

To me this was a double header, I'm a big fan of both Owen Pallet and Dirty Projectors. The talent that projects from both OP and DP is awe inspiring. Owen's intricate petal layering of his violin and voice then adding his accompanying bass / drum player completes the triad to give the audience a fulfilling mouthful of incredible music. Then DP came on as strong as ever. I saw them on this tour over a year ago in Somerville and then again at the Paradise, they once again delivered a powerful performance. And I guess being on the road they improved on each song. There are moments that I was caught off guard because of some extra vocals added in. I did read another review on someone's blog saying "The crowd seemed predisposed to eating up the performance" there were some uncomfortable awkward moments ... but it's a Monday night! Plus the band doesn't have to have a conversation with the audience ... they just played great music.

The dirty Projectors were outstanding, spot on, and they rocked out. Its not often an artsy, experimental bands rocks so hard, and it was really great to hear. the harmonies were of course mindblowing, the guitar was great, and they sounded better than they do on their album. As if that weren't enough, the opener, Owen Pallett (previously Final Fantasy) was amazing. I sat captivated through the awesome but still nerdy songs, and amused during his little naratives between performances. I would have paid double this price to hear a dweeby guy with a violin sing songs about breaking jaws of cockatrices and rejecting the sexual advances of his god, but following it up with an electric and spot-on Dirty Projectors show? It was almost too much to handle. Needless to say I left more than satisfied, if a little mind-blown. I would highly reccomend seeing both acts to anyone... You may want to see them seperately though, unless you enjoy picking up tiny pieces of your grey matter from every corner of the venue.

It's not easy finding a happy medium between good music and a good crowd to experience it with. Lately, in a scene thats been become over-saturated with uninteresting bands and equally pedestrian hipsters, the future of a musical genre I once loved has not shown much promise for the future. Luckily, this is not the case with the Dirty Projectors. It's certainly been a while since I've made the effort to attend such an event and I'm glad I chose this one. Between the enormous talent of this band and the overall feeling of the crowd, I can't think of a venue that could have housed such a euphoric atmosphere as well as Terminal 5 did. I'd recommend this band and this venue to anyone who is interested.

The Dirty Projectors were more than what one could hear on their albums. Not a note was missed, not a voice cracked. Each member had their own specific stage presence, and the energy was electrifying. Owen Pallett was an unexpectedly amazing opening act.
