The venue is gorgeous and the suite package is worth it for the private bathrooms alone. The show was a little dramatic, almost comical, but the scenery and imagery were outstanding. The lady playing Christine was beyond belief. Her voice was breathtaking. We will be talking about this show for years to come.

I loved everything about this production from the music, dance, staging effects, dancing, and of course spectacular vocals. The Phantom in New York speaks well about the global reach of the writers and the twisted plot of this wonderful tragedy was oh so shocking as well. Dark and yet happy and very Cirque of Soliel'ish. Two thumbs up!

The phantom in this opera was so overcome by his emotions in this portrayal that it was difficult to connect with him as a real character. Yes, the premise of a phantom lurking in the wings is fictional, but too much pathos played into this overwrought performance. I wanted to feel his pain, not be put off by it...a genuinely talented actor with a superb voice, as were all of the players, but help us to believe.

Everyone knows that this isn't the greatest story in the world, the characters have some seriously mercurial shifts that are a bit hard to believe, but it's beautiful, and that's why i loved it. The circus setting made the musical. I would go again.

Love Never Dies was brilliantly cast with some of the finest talent I've ever had the pleasure to hear in the theater . . . EVERY SINGLE ROLE! I did not particularly like the story line with the action taking place at Coney Island. The Paris Opera House was much a more appropriate, intriguing, and romantic setting for the Phantom. Listening to the supreme voices of each one of the cast members definitely made the evening enjoyable!

Great sets and costumes. A bit too much opera for me. I was disappointed first song was done with audience forced to look through a screen in the curtain. My husband and I are both fans of the original Phantom but didn't care much for this production.

This sequel to The Phantom of The Opera is clever and wonderfully staged. The costumes and sets spectacular. The performances were not to be topped. I could go see it again! The young man cast member sang beautifully and the rest of the ensemble perfect as expected. The costume character Christine displayed, as a peacock, was so creative it blended the set back round right into it. I learned on a critics review next day that the young man is a native of Carpentersville, IL. Highly recommended!

Our favorite classic, the Phantom of the Opera, continues in this sequel. We love the Cadillac Palace, an extraordinary venue. The performances and the incredible voices blew us away. But be prepared for the bizarre! The romantic drama also turns into a circus-like performance. A little shock at first, but overall a very good show. We would go to see the original Phantom over and over again. Not so much Love Never Dies. One time is enough...

I ll start by saying, ignore those reviews that trash this musical. My wife and I attended the February 15th matinee in Chicago. From the opening number we were simply blown away. The songs, voices, acting, costumes and sets can only be described in one word, Outstanding. The actress portraying Christine was amazing. To say her voice was beautiful would be an insult. Her voice and her beauty are something not to be missed. The Phantom, Christine s husband and her son were also great. The remainder of the cast were wonderful. The finale was so overwhelming that most of the audience was sobbing. The standing ovation that the performers received was well deserved. My wife, who has seen Phantom 5 times, (in Chicago and New York ), said that she actually thinks she enjoyed this performance more. If you are reading this review because you are in doubt whether to attend the play, I d say don t wait another second...Go and enjoy!

Sensational show. If you liked Phantom you have to see it. Even my husband who is not really in to theater said it was wonderful. It ranks as one of the top shows I have seen (and I have been going to the theater for 25 years...both in NYC and Chicago). I was expecting it to be just okay, but it was fantastic. They did it!! The singing of Gardar Thor Cortes (Phantom) and Meghan Picerno (Christine) moved me to tears. Sidenote: I just read that this show has been reworked several times. I did not see any of the earlier versions, but this version in Chicago on Feb 14th 2018 was spectacular.

This was well done, not anywhere as amazing as The Phantom of the opera production. The storyline should have followed the story line more of Phantom. There was no romantic or rape reference to allow the story to have a child. Perfect mix of The Phantom music into this story line. There was four people in our group and everyone enjoyed it. A storyline is well done when you have a sequel and the story can stand alone without much input from the original.

Stellar performance, beautiful sets, music and acting was top notch. This was a special night for me and my two daughters. Just over a year prior we experienced The Phantom of the Opera here. The architecture of the theatre is especially amazing to me as I love history and I'm so glad this gem is so well maintained. The staff is helpful, friendly, and appear to like their jobs. The only shortcoming in the whole experience is likely that I purchased tickets with a limited view and that was disappointing to us all. Fortunately, we were able to move since the venue wasn't sold out and we enjoyed the 2nd half of the show much more.

There are reasons why sequels in movies don't often work as well as the original. Love Never Dies is no exception. While the story takes us 10 years into the future after the Phantom's end, and is seemingly more complex, the music (while there are notable performances) is not as strong as the original Phantom. While overall a story of love, longing and acceptance it just isn't as strong as the original, I would still recommend it as many of the actor's performances are very strong as they were in the original Phantom.

The Phantom meets America. The original we found the phantom living in a world to which he was forced to hide and operate in the shadows but in the sequel he makes a new home where he is welcomed and hailed, Coney Island. We re big Phantom of the Opera fans so we loved seeing Phantom and Christine reunited. What we didn t love is the lack of a spark or chemistry between them. The scene where they see each other again could ve been more special. Not sure if it was the actors or the way the part was written but I couldn t connect with this Phantom or Christine. The set and supporting roles are really good! Music doesn t have that one song you can t stop humming after you leave the theatre though. Worth a trip just to say you ve seen it. I should have read the synopsis and the reviews before purchasing tickets for the so-called sequel to Lloyd Weber's Phantom of the Opera. Some of the sets and changes were spectacular, but songs were not as memorable. The fact that the Phantom fled the Paris Opera House and ended up in Coney Island (where the whole show takes place) is a stretch and cheapens the show. He should have stayed over in France . . . maybe Senlis, where Le Roi du Couers took place?

This is the sequel to Phantom of the Opera. It takes place ten years after the events of that show. If you are going to see the show for the sake of the music, choreography, and stage production you will have a great time! The music is all really good and the actors who play Christine and the Phantom have phenomenal voices. Really all the actors did an amazing job. I loved the stage set up and the costumes as well. If you are going to see the show for the sake of the story, and to see what happened after Phantom of the Opera, I think you will be pretty disappointed. The story is confusing and disjointed. They have really ignored who the characters were in the first one when they wrote this one. Nobody felt the same to me. Every time something happened in the plot I was totally flabbergasted and pretty disappointed. Overall, if you do want to see this show the Chicago cast is the best way to see it. I believe they do the absolute best they can do given the very strange plot. Even though I don't think the show does the characters justice, I think Webber's music makes it still worth seeing (especially with this cast).

Love never dies embodies the wonder that is Broadway. The costuming, the sets, the music, the singing were all outstanding and blew me away. Unfortunately, where this show falls flat is in the story, which, unfortunately, is a major part of the experience. The show seems like Phantom fanfiction, both requiring a fairly extensive knowledge of the original, and disregarding/rewriting previous characterizations. Fans of the original will be upset with how the main cast is behaving while loving the music which is very reminiscent of the original. The one drawback of the music is that there are way more powerful songs and fewer of the quite, more introspective songs. While this is reflective of the original, it did get a little overwhelming at times where each and every song was sung at 100%. Overall, I really enjoyed the performance and would have loved it as a stand alone piece, but it's connection to such a defining piece of Broadway is its Achilles heel.

Knowing the full history of this show, it has come a long, long way from what it was when it first opened in 2010. In its current incarnation, Love Never Dies has become a strong and beautiful show on its own. The story has become pretty solid, though knowledge of the original Phantom of the Opera show is good to have. Love Never Dies often musically references the original show in amazing little ways. Overall, if you are a fan of Phantom, check this show out at least once. It's worth it just for the gorgeous sets and costumes.

The story of Love Never dies follows Christine Daaé as she is once again pitted as a trophy to win between Raul and the Phantom. The story focuses on the objectification of Christine, the manipulative and selfish love of both men, and the wager of which one will have Christine's love. The music is phenomenal, the colors fantastic, the story will enthral you, and when it finally ends you will be glad that there was a sequel.

The costume and set designs were pretty amazing. The voices of the actors/actresses were stunning and powerful. I very much enjoyed the show. I heed one warning to Phantom of the Opera fans though, this storyline works better as a stand-alone theme. Some of the plot points do not coincide with the original Phantom and can leave you feeling confused if you try to connect the dots from the first one. It s very much enjoyable and the songs are beautiful, but think of the play as a stand alone with some of the same characters, and not a sequel. Sort of like when Spider-Man is redone every couple of years and they use the same characters but pretend like the other version never happened. Very similar.

Phantom of the Opera has always been the go to musical that my boyfriend and I love to jam out to. So when I found out that the sequel was playing in Chicago I had to surprise him with tickets. We planned a whole day out together in the city, and ended it with getting to sit down and watch the show. With just the first song, I was moved to tears with the intense and beautiful voice of the male lead playing the Phantom. The quality and work that these actors, musicians, and tech crew put into the production of this show was evident with how amazing it all came together. Sir ALW milking the success of the original. If you love ALW, then you'll probably more than tolerate this production. All others, beware. The top-shelf cast/voices and elaborate staging attempt to compensate for the overwrought tedium of the score and vapid lyrics. Despite the attempt at melodrama and spectacle, it's a real yawner. We thought this show was a good blend with Phantom of the Opera. We originally saw it in London when it was first being developed. What an improvement. We liked the beginning better and the blend of the music. It flowed much better. The audience was captivated by the plot and music. I think of only one thing that needs to be different. At the very end when Christine dies and the boy and father walk off the bridge, I think something is missing. It is a lot better than it was in London, but something is missing. Very good story line..lots of surprises along the way. Don t expect the music to be as beautiful as Phantom although it is good especially the last song. The little boy, Gustav, was exceptional! If you loved Phantom you will love this show!

I am a fan of the phantom but not of this production which is like a beautifully decorated cupcake that looses all the charm once you take a bite. The only exciting part of the show, for me, are the costumes and scene production, all beautiful! However, I can do away with the cheesy soap opera where a woman can't decide who she truly loves. The pathetic Raul and weaker Phantom take the charm away. Also, the music is nothing memorable. Worst of all, I hated the end because I had my 10 yo daughter and niece with me. I didn't expect to see one of the female characters pulling out a gun and pointing it at her own head, attempting suicide, all ending with a lost bullet killing Christine, while being held by her 3 men (Raul, Phantom and Gustav). That's it, sad and sour end... Not something I wanted to pay for to watch, especially as we go through the worst gun control terror our society is facing. Do not bring kids or people trying to get away from stress and distracted from our latest news. Kill that ending please!

All the hype, all the anticipation and the Andrew Lloyd Webber name couldn't lift this show above mediocre. The acting was good, the boy playing Gustave had an excellent voice, but no one had "really good music" with which to work. When we walked out of The Phantom, we were humming and commenting on the strong music and lyrics, and how the score was "haunting". We felt that even the title song, Love Never Dies, lacked drive and emotion. Truly failed to live up to the standards of an ALW musical.

WE LOVED THE PLAY..ALTHOUGH IT TOOK PLACE IN A DIFFERENT LOCATION AND HAD A BUNCH OF STRANGE CHARACTERS THAN THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA IT WAS STILL VERY GOOD...MUSIC..SETS..COSTUMES. ALL GOOD..AND WE COULD UNDERSTAND THE WORDS WHEN THEY WERE SINGING...AND WE ALWAYS ENJOY GOING TO THE CADILLAC PALACE

Set was great. Story was strange as a sequal. Good voices but the music was just average. I would see Phamtom again rather than see this show.

I took my 18 year old grand daughter to see Phantom and she loved it. We now went to see Love Never Dies. We were both disappointed with the songs in the musical. They were not nearly as dramatic as in the Phantom. Also the theme was set around a circus. I never would think opera would have anything to do with a circus. The ending was not only a disappointment but also a shock. It was an alright musical but doesn't come close to the Phantom of the Opera. I think it could have been better.

What a marvelous evening, not only was the play itself fantastic, but all the performers did a fantastic job. Gustavo (the child actor) had a major role and was played by a very talented young man. This is a must see and made for a perfect evening!!

If you liked/loved the Phantom of the Opera, you'll love this show as well. Great cast, couple great surprises tossed in, I thoroughly enjoyed myself. If you're on the fence about this, I'd say go.

Whether you are a phan of continuing the story of the Phantom and Christine or not, one cannot deny the beauty of the songs in this show, the colorful setting of Coney Island and the amazing voices of Phantom, Christine, Raoul and Gustave. Our seats were terrific. We even got to meet Gustave after the show. What a sweet boy! Can't wait to see it again!
