Joel McHale

Joel McHale is one of the busiest actors in the business right now.  He currently stars on the hit comedy series “Community,” which will move to Yahoo for its sixth season after five seasons on NBC.  He will next star as Robin Williams’ son in A Merry Friggin’ Christmas, slated for release this November.  McHale was most recently seen in the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced supernatural thriller Deliver Us From Evil and appeared in Warner Bros’ romantic comedy Blended alongside Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore.

I was a fan of the Soup, but had no idea what to expect from Joel doing a full stand up show. He exceeded any expectation I may have had from seeing other comedians in person (including Jerry Seinfeld, Kevin Hart, Bob Sagget). He was real, he was true to himself and seriously had tears rolling down my face when he did a bit about E and the Kardashians. I hope he tours again, because I will absolutely continue to support his act. This show was outstanding. Great time and no shortage of laughs. I can't forget to mention, he also drove to Cleveland from Philly (during a blizzard) due to cancelled flights, so he could make this show. Who else would do that?! Love ya Joel!

Well, Even though Storm Jonas was rolling in, Harrahs of course wasn't going to cancel the show. So we drove the 2 hours through the storm to get there. Joel was funny though and worth it!

Joel was great...mixed both Soup type comedy with his own. Horseshoe Casino does not have a theatre as the seat chart lead you to believe it does. They have their major events in two ballrooms opened up to one (like for a wedding reception or conference). You sit in rows of chairs.

I kind of expected Joel to do a stand up version of The Soup, which was slightly accurate. His act included talking about Ryan Seacrest, Tyra, and the usual suspects, but it also ventured into his personal life with amusing anecdotes about his family and other stories. There were definitely moments during his routine that made me laugh hard enough to tear up. He was consistently funny thorough and through. His witty delivery was the same as The Soup. If you are a fan of the show, you will love seeing him live. Don't miss it! As far as Meyerhoff Hall is concerned, it is a very nice venue in a rehabilitated area of Baltimore. The crowd did have its share of hecklers, which was quite annoying, but Joel handled it well.

He seemed unprepared, the "F word" was used frequently to draw a laugh from a bad joke, the stomping back and forth on the stage made no sense, Jewish comments were in bad taste (I'm not a Jew), people leaving half way through the show was a distraction. There were quite a few people laughing - so it's possible I'm out of touch with is style.

My husband and I have watched The Soup religiously for the past year at least, and at the end of every show when he's spouting off places he'll be, I always waited anxiously to hear him say 'Baltimore.' Needless to say, we didn't hesitate to get tickets. There was a moment though where we wondered what his standup was going to be like without his TV clips, and we wondered if he'd have any new material or if it would be stuff regurgitated from various shows (I've seen comedians who do that). This was not at all the case!!! He started off with poking fun at Ryan Seacrest and pop culture and then spent the rest of the time cracking hysterical jokes about his family. Our faces hurt walking out of there at the end of the night and we still quote tidbits of his jokes to each other and crack up laughing. I'll see him every chance I get!!

Since he is the host of the soup, I was uncertain of the content of his stand up show. I was delightfully surprised that the show consisted of an even amount of celebrity talk and other off kilter jokes. I was a little dissapointed that he would not sign anything that was not bought from him, and that the line was so long after the show. But, overall it was an extremely enjoyable experience. I, however, did not like the opening act.

Opening act for Joel McHale in Hyannis was very weak. He started at 8pm, ended at 8:20 and then they had an intermission for over 30 minutes. Poor scheduling. Joel McHale himself was excellent and the audience was captivated throughout his one hour performance. At the end of the show, he signed shirts that you had to purchase there and he took photos with those who purchased.

I found out about the Baltimore show a few days before the event and knew I had to buy tickets. If you love The Soup then you will absolutely love his show, and even if you have never watched The Soup his stories about Hollywood, celebrities, and his family will make you laugh so hard you cry. His family stories made me feel like I was one of his cousins and I was right there during Christmas dinner. Definitely worth going to see!!!

Joel McHale puts on such a great show! He mixes in comedy from his show, The Soup, as well as standard comedy routines that are equally as funny. He kept us laughing hysterically throughout the entire show. Afterwards, he took the time to sign shirts and take pictures with everyone.

Great show. He was up there for at least an hour and a half, which is longer than I've seen a lot of comedians go. Obviously people know him from The Soup, so the first 1/2 was some classic make fun of hollywood. Then he went on to show he was funny in about every other way.

We got tickets for my 15y/o Brother and when we told him about it he started jummping up and down, pumping his fists. To see him that excited was such a great feeling. Saw Joel at Mohegan Sun in Ct. He did a very good job keeping the show moving and there was never any slow momnets. The only thing I would say is I would like to see him in a smaller arena. With 10,000 people there it just seems like your so far away.

Joel McHale's act was very funny, but may not be for people who do not watch "The Soup". There were many reference to the show, about a third of the material. The rest was mostly about his family. Being a "Soup" fan, and the parent of young children, I found it very entertaining and laughed more often then not. The only criticism I have is that there could have been a little less time spent talking about Ryan Seacrest.

What a superiorly awesome show this was. Not only was he hysterical and just so much fun to watch, but he also took the time to sign autographs at the end. The autograph line took forever because he spent about 5 minutes with everyone. which was SO cool. Such a genuine and nice guy in addition to being so funny. Great show, would watch it a ton more times.

The opener was better than Joel. The first half of Joel's set was focused on geographies he had recently worked and the material wasn't as strong as his material later in the show around his family and kids. e should stick to material he knows works well rather than trying to come up with material around Cincinnati on the flight in.

Love him, saw him several years ago at the same location. He was charming, funny and we got to meet him. This time I thought he was too mean for my blood. All he did was make fun of us and other places he tours. He would point to himself and say "dick" when the crowd didn't like what he said. Toward the last half hour-45 minutes, he talked about working and his shows and family. That's what we want to hear about. If he would have stuck to that, he would have been much more enjoyable. We looked forward to this for a while, and we were disappointed.

My gf and I were really excited to see Joel live in Tahoe. Unfortunately, it was a really boring performance. I found myself waiting for it to be over so we could go find something else to do. With The Soup it's scripted and his delivery is spot on. More of acting I guess. With his stand up the jokes just weren't very funny and his delivery was hindered by his constant pausing. Overall, I was bummed. Hopefully he does better at other venues.

I bought tickets to take an out-of-town visitor. The lead-in act was very gross and crude. That would be tolerable if he were funny, but he was not. MHale was a great disappointment. Joel McHale was extremely funny! The opening act was great too, but Joel was spectacular. He had very funny anecdotes regarding his time on TV, celebrities he has met, and his own family and friends. I got the tickets as a Valentine's Day gift for my wife because she was so sad that The Soup (her favorite show) got canceled. We both loved this stand-up show. It was hilarious! He poked fun at the South a little too much, but he laughed it off anyway, so it's not like we were offended. His dad stories reminded my wife and me of myself too much. So the only part of the show I didn't like was the four-dollar Pepsi I had to buy for my wife.

Joel McHale was hilarious but the venue was strange. The Horseshoe had us in one of the ballrooms with rows and rows of chairs like they would for a business conference. Flat floor (lack of stadium seating) made it hard for the people in the back. My wife and I love The Soup on E! network. We were looking forward to much of the same humor from Joel McHale. We sprang for the overpriced tickets and attended the event in Atlanta. What a let-down. Joel is hilarious on The Soup - where he has writers. But his stand-up act is mostly unfunny made-up stories of meeting celebrities. He needs to seriously work on his material and maybe it'd be a better show. As it is, it's probably the 2nd worst stand-up act I've ever seen - next to his opening act.

Joel McHale was hilarious as usual, the Jokes seemed to be on point and well thought of. Yet i noticed that he used quite a bit of material from the last time he was in Minnesota. February of 2009 he did a show at the State Theater which was awesome of course. But throughout this show at Mystic this past weekend i noticed a lot of jokes that for the most part were either the exact same, or changed in the presentation. I would have liked to have heard newer material throughout more of his show. The jokes that I didn't recognize were awesome, and the Q & A at the end of his show was a great chance for really anyone that could yell loud enough for him to hear what you were saying clearly got an answer, a very funny answer! Great show and i recommend going to see his act now and in the future!

I absolutely love Joel McHale, I watch The Soup every week and I have become addicted to community. I was so excited for this show and it did not disappoint. Donald Glover, who plays Troy on Community, opened for Joel. He was absolutely hilarious, it was a great way to start the show. When Joel came out he was so energetic and interacted with the crowd. The first half of his act he made a lot of references to The Soup and the shows he makes fun of on The Soup. If you don't watch The Soup, like my friend who went with me, you might get lost in this part of the show. For avid Soup fans like me, you wont stop laughing. The second half of his act he did a normal stand up routine that was so funny I was in tears. We even had a special treat when Joel announced that Danny Pudi, who plays Abed on Community, was in the audience. He came up on stage and performed the Spanish rap from the show with Donald Glover. It was so cool to see my 3 favorite actors from community live on stage together. Joel was good, but not as funny as the last time I saw him at The Wilbur - maybe he had an "off" day. I love him anyway. However, the comic who opened for him was hilarious ! Wish I remembered his name. Venue was extremely hot. Seemed like there was no A/C and the window fans were almost useless. Almost passed out at one point. Should have passed out bottled water for free. Drinks were RIDICULOUSLY priced for the size of them.

My fiancé and I have gone to several comedy shows, and watch specials often. This was one of the best shows that we have seen - we were belly laughing the entire time! Both J.F. Harris and Joel Mchale were hysterical and were worth the wait with the delay! We would go to another one of their shows in an instant, in the future!

SEE THIS MAN PERFORM. He was incredible. I laughed until I cried the entire time! Joel and his warm-up were victims of our extreme thunderstorms and took an UBER from Philly to get to the show! (When the show started their plane was STILL circling DC!!! So thank goodness they did!) The tone, the act, the everything was amazing. Need to see him again! Joel is the type of comedian who interacts with his direct audience, and creates running gags unique to that show. It made it special and a one-of-a-kind show!

Hilarious! I laughed the entire time, so much so that my face hurt by the time the show was over. I hope I have the opportunity to see him again!

As a long time fan of The Soup, I was stoked to see Joel come to town. However, he came across as arrogant, jokes weren't that funny, and seemed ill prepared for his stand-up. Felt like he was resting on his laurels of stardom to milk all the money he could from his former TV glory days.

I have been a big fan of Joel for years and was thrilled he finally had plans to visit the Cleveland area. The show started on time. His opening act was a local comedian who was outstanding and Joel immediately followed. Joel made me laugh from the very moment he stepped on stage. He hit us with several local Cleveland jokes and then went into some Hollywood and personal stories that were all very funny. He was on stage for an hour and a half and had us all laughing the entire show. Highly recommended.

Joel can really go on and on with the stories and jokes. He even incorporates local news. Impressive. Enjoyed his performance a lot.

This was so disappointing. I'm a huge fan of Joel's work on The Soup and Community, but he is not a stand up comedian. His material consisted of 10 year old stories about the Kardashians, references to MTV shows from the early 2000s, and homophobic jokes, interspersed with reference after reference to the Cuyahoga River fire, which happened over 40 years ago. The opener was far worse. I don't know his name, but every joke and premise was hack and had been done a thousand times before and was completely predictable. The venue was awful, just a plain room with folding chairs bolted to the floor way too close together.

Joel was funny funny! I love The Soup so even though his warm up comedian made everyone laugh when Joel came on stage it was as though we all had inside jokes. He was great. My problem was with the facility at the Rocksino. The chairs were ridiculously close together. Not only did this make it difficult to drink, get up for the bathroom, but it was awkward to be arm to arm with the random person next to me and btw we are skinny.

The opening act was pretty funny and Joel did not disappoint. He made fun of both Cleveland, his family and pop culture. My only complaint is that he went about 10 min too long

My wife and I found out that Joel McHale was coming to town just a few days before the show and decided to go last minute. The opening act was hilarious (guy from Alabama, don't remember his name) and McHale was simply phenomenal. He had a show the previous evening in Atlantic City while the East Coast was shut down from the massive show storm - he rented a car and drove from Philly to Cleveland to make the show as all flights were cancelled. That's a long drive in good weather, and I truly appreciated his efforts to make the show and not just cancel. His act is awesome. He started in on both Cleveland and the audience right away, acknowledging the he is just a dick. And it worked. He's got great timing, hilarious stories, and is very topical. Great show - I highly recommend it.

I'm a fan of Joel McHale's tv past, so had high expectations. He was funny at times, but often looked lost and struggling where to go. He rambled awhile about the Kardashians then on to his own family that borderlined on inappropriate even for a comedian. But I did laugh throughout at his impromptu remarks. Definitely not worth $70 by the time you pay ticket fees. Opening act was almost embarrassing.
