WOW - what a show. I urge you to see them if they come to a town near you. They do not disappoint from the Crowes Tunes to Magpie Tunes. As. Crowes fan I thoroughly enjoyed this.

Unmistakeably gifted musicians. Soulful sound deeply entrenched in southern rock n blues. Fan of the Robinsons and Ford for decades. Hogg as lead singer...awesome. Perfect blend and harmonies. The wonderful backup singers were icing on the cake. It was a rare treat to finally see them live. On the bad side...the sound setup did not do them justice. Also, the band didn t seem engaged in the event....going through the motions. Guess that can happen after 30+ years. That bummed me out and put a wet blanket on my anticipation of seeing some of my favorite musicians of all time. So much potential. I hope they can pick up the momentum and keep cranking out some great new music. Hats off to Magpie Salute.

The venue was outdoors, the weather was perfect, and the band was amazing! They played old Black Crowes stuff, solo stuff, unforgettable covers, and sounded oh so fine. I can t wait to see them again. I LOVE this band!

If you're looking for an authentic, old school rock and roll show with the energy of the early days Black Crowes, then you want to see The Magpie Salute. Everyone in the band is excellent, they've really gelled together and look to be enjoying being in this band. Lots of positive energy coming from the stage. I can't wait to hear what they come up with for new music.

The Magpie Salute is a rootsy, rocking ten piece collective formed by Black Crowes founder Rich Robinson, comprised of members of Rich's post-Crowes solo band as well as other Crowes alumni, most notably guitar foil Marc Ford. Their inaugural US tour brought them to a not quite capacity but very appreciate crowd at Boston's Wilbur August 3rd. The two hour show delivered in all the ways Black Crowes shows used to, with the added bonus of new frontman John Hogg and additional guitarist Nico Bereciaurta to assist on gems from the catalog, Ford and Robinson's solo output, and appropriate covers such as the Rolling Stones' Let it Loose, the Allman Brothers' Stand Back and Rod stewart's Gasoline Alley. That last one featured in a mid-show acoustic set before they brought it all home with a romp through some more classics and current Magpie radio hit Omission.

As solid as any band out there right now, too bad either the sound guy had an off night or the facility's acoustics did them wrong. Vocals weren't clear, especially when multiple people singing. Guitar solos were spotty sounding as well. We had this as our show and were disappointed it wasn't. Next time we're seeing them in a more modern facility.

Marc Ford and Rich Robinson together again! My highlights were Stand Back and How Much For Your Wings? (acoustic). One of the loudest shows I've seen in a while. I couldn't tell you much about the keyboardist because I could barely hear him. I don't know who the third guitarist was but he was excellent. I wanted to hear Marc and Rich play together again and they did not disappoint! I would definitely see this band again.

With 2/3 of the original Black Crowes and a team of guitarists like Rich Robinson and Marc Ford and Sven Pippien how can you go wrong. They rounded out the sound with another guitarist and drums and keys. Adriean Adjoui lead the three backing vocalists. The set was a Crowes lovers dream with deep cuts galore. Some solo Rich Robinson and Marc Ford songs as well as some well done cover songs. The Wilbur Theatre as always was a lot of fun despite the over priced bar.

A ton of energy! Great set. Never thought I would here these songs live again. Marc and Rich are just so good together. The sound was great if you enjoyed the crowes you will enjoy this show. Played a ton from the crowes catalog and some solo stuff from mark and rich a few covers as well. Overall a high energy fun concert.

I heard they put in extra rehearsal time before this fourth night of a four-night run. As good as they were the night before, they were even better on this night. Everyone contributed, but Marc Ford was again exceptional. As with the night before, to me at least, it didn't matter what song they played; they made it sound great. The band members seemed to enjoy the show as much as the audience, which was nice to see. At the end of the show, Rich said "Hopefully we'll uh see you guys this summer." I sure hope so!

Went to see The Magpie Salute at The Gramercy Theatre in NYC, was not disappointed, not that I thought I would. Missed Eddie Harsch's wonderful keyboards, Steve Gormans workman like drums, but Matt Slocum and Joe Magistro filled in admirably. Rich, Marc and Sven played like had in the past, flawlessly. John Hogg needs time to fit in the groove but I think he will. Overall thoroughly enjoyed the show. Can't wait to see them again!

Magpie is basically The Black Crowes without Chris Robinson. A great bunch of talented heavy weights in music. The lead singer was great covering Crowes tunes. Back up singers were awesome!. Band was great!

I went both nights. More crowded and a better show the second night. Just wish they would play more of Rich's solo stuff and integrate it in more often. They play a bit imo too much of the Crows which was good but have to admit i'm still adjusting to the new singer. Wish he would interact a bit more with the audience. Marc Ford was awesome as was the rest of the band. Good solid show.....

Having seen TMPS first show earlier this year the progress they've made really shows. That first show was great but a year of touring has shaped them into a well run machine. Looking forward to the new double album and tour next year.

Enjoyed the show but it was a little bit like the Black Crowes on Thorazine. The crowd was very small (less than 1,000 people) so you could roll a tumbleweed up to the stage and not hit anyone. Rich is a very talented guitar player and I never got a chance to see him from so close with the Crowes (because it was always more crowded). He has an amazing guitar collection (its like going got a museum when you can see what each one is) but he seems to be low energy at times and the three-guitar setup that they had was a little dense at times with very little space left after they filled it all up. I prefer a little but looser sound with more space between the notes and a little more dynamics, like the Stones and the early Crowes stuff. If you are a hard-core Crowes fan like me you would definitely enjoy the show but for anyone else, it might seem a little loud and tedious at times. I would say the highlight was their cover of Little Feat's "Fat Man in the Bathtub"...

thunderous statement that former Black Crowes members Rich Robinson, Marc Ford and Sven Pipien are ready to pick up where they left out.the band operates in the same soulful, rock and blues space, which isn t too surprising considering the core of both bands are the same (the band even covers Crowes standouts What Is Home and Wiser Time ). The group also benefits from the built-in chemistry formed during Crowes years that allows for the core to confidently add new musicians to the mix, and it informs the flow and cohesiveness of the outfit s jams.

It will be very interesting to watch this band develop. They put on a great rock n roll based mainly on Black Crowes' tunes and a few covers. Definitely check these guys and gals out if they're in town.

Long time Crowes+ concert goer. In short, Rich as solid as they come - 3 backup singers were great (Charity didn't really get to showcase prob b/c the setlist) - the singer (Hogg) filled in decent enough...screwed up lyrics here and there but good energy and did his part. The drummer and keyboardist were tucked way in back and sunk down and therefore non-existent (maybe it was the setup). Unfortunately, Marc Ford has lost a step on guitar (still good tho, don't shoot the messenger) despite Rich trying to engage with him and stir up old magic - Ford also put the crowd to sleep on the 2 songs (his songs) that he sang - just didn't fit the overall vibe of the show. Sven solid. Loved hearing some dusted off Crowes material but overall the venue/music was a tad loud and they didn't really engage with the crowd at all - there were 2-3 big opportunities to let the crowd carry out and sing the refrain outro - just pause the music and soak it in Rich. For 40 bucks, was decent show.

I'm a Black Crowes fan, so I figured this would be a good show. I was right-- it WAS a good show. It could have been a GREAT show if the sound was better. The band has an excellent lead singer, but every time he stepped up to the mic all I could hear was muddied vocals that were way too loud. The instruments seemed to be a decent levels, but the vocals were painfully ear-shattering. I had earplugs in and yet I could still feel the pain, even the next day. The music was topnotch, though. The band did a mix of original songs, with some covers thrown in. They did a cover of Pink Floyd's, "Fearless," which sounded amazing. Very tight and well-rehearsed, I'd definitely recommend The Magpie Salute. I'll see them again, for sure.

What other group of talented musicians go out every night and play a different set list every show with virtually no repeats? You never know what is coming next and I love it. You can see and hear their enthusiasm for what they are doing. They are better without the cancer that Chris Robinson became with his diva attitude. The vocals are solid.

3/5 of The Black Crowes! It is an awesome evening of really rockin' songs, including a bunch of Black Crowes tunes. Tremendous jams. Do not miss this! (It's okay, though, to miss CRB. See CRB maybe once, but MAGPIE -- you gotta go each time!)

This was my second show in three nights (I saw the Boston show on 8/3/17). They played over forty songs, and I only count one song common to both nights. I preferred the Boston show, but this show was also really good for the same reasons the Boston show was: great interplay & great songs!
