Beauty and The Beast (Chicago)

My husband and I took our 5 year-old granddaughter to see Beauty & The Beast. We were impressed!!! She was so excited she couldn't stop giggling!

What a good show. I liked that they added humor for the adults but also kept things very child friendly. I laughed alot and had a great time.

Superb!!! Excellent!! Loved it!!! My all time favorite Disney Animated Movie!! Everyone of them did an awesome and amazing job!! Well worth the trip!! Acting was right on, to a T!!

We hade seen Beauty and the Beast several years ago in NYC and loved it. Was happy to see it closer to home in Chicago. It didn't disappoint and was just as magical as the first time. Beautiful music, costumes, scenery. We were a little disappointed they didn't have more of the "fight" scene with the objects against the townspeople as that is comical.

The production was awesome! The venue was terrific!

The theater was gorgeous. The chairs sucked, old, and very out dated and wore out. We were not Evan able to see the stage without standing thru the entire show..... The show was very entertaining, with great performances!

The Beauty and the Beast stage characters were just like watching the Disney movie! I loved the costumes and stage production was very inventive!

We took our niece to see this production! It was so well done, so much fun. It felt like we were seeing it on Broadway! I would definitely go to see it again!

The performance was not at all at the caliber I thought it should be. The cast was not very strong, and it seemed a bit sloppy. I know that it is aimed at a younger audience but the performance should still be spectacular.

A beautiful adaptation of the Disney version of Beauty and the Beast. The additional scenes and musical numbers they add are perfect and make it so much more than the movie. The cast was wonderful and silly and playful and just had the most amazing voices. I wish they were allowed more time in the Second Act to go into some other details like they did in the First. I guess the show can't go on forever, though. I would see it again and would highly recommend others see it, as well.

I think the magic is gone from the stage production of Beauty and the Beast. It has become very scaled down and bery lackluster. Although the performances are great and young children wont care too much about sets. As an adult it bothered me especailly since i have seen the show before.

Disney has done it again! This was a beautiful production of one of my favorite Disney movies. The cast was so incredibly talented, the orchestra was amazing, costumes and scenery were spectacular. I got goosebumps and was moved to tears several times during the performance. A must see!

Saw the show in Chicago about 15 years ago and it was fantastic for all ages. This was fine if taking a child to see it for the first time. Was very disappointed in this production, especially with the cost of tickets. I have seen better college productions and at not near the cost. I expected more from a Chicago production!!

Broadway in Chicago productions are always a win! Being the Disney version, this closely followed the movie my daughter grew up viewing over and over and over again. It was a nice way to reminisce with a little girl who is growing up so fast:)

Thoroughly enjoyed it. Lumiere and Gaston were fabulous. Our only complaint had nothing to do with the show - it was the people sitting around us. One lady next to us kept using the light on her phone to read the program and it would shine in our eyes. The lady in front or us allowed her daughter to stand at the rail, blocking our view.

I was disappointed in this production of Beauty and the Beast. I have "recommended" it because most of the children near me seemed to enjoy it.

Beauty & the Beast is my favorite love story of all time and this theatre production made me fall in love with these characters all over again ... I was completely and utterly blown away by this performance ... the cast, costumes and special effects were spot on and I loved the addition of a couple original songs not featured in the movie ... "Be Our Guest" was highly anticipated and exceeded all expectation ... the spell was broken and I cried like a baby - I have seen many Broadway in Chicago productions but never have I been more engrossed ... my eyes never left the set - it was that good ... thank you Disney !!!

Scene design cute and well executed. Person playing the Beast: his voice was slightly weak, felt voice needed to be more robust and volume to songs.

We saw Beauty and the Beast the day it opened. It was by no means a bad show, but it was over-the-top and campy throughout the entire first act. Even more than you'd expect from musical theater, to the point of making us cringe. They eventually hit their stride with "Gaston" and later again with "Be Our Guest," arguably two of the more fun group numbers I've ever seen on stage. Obviously the movie caters to kids, but this production seemed to have forgotten all the adults who grew up with the movie and instead focused on slapstick physical humor and grand gestures, making it essentially a children's show with a couple adult jokes.

Great theatre! Easy to get in and out. All seating has good views. Friendly staff. Plenty of facilities. The show was great! Perfect for adults and children. I highly recommend.

This movie was my all time favorite growing up and the broadway show is now my favorite musical! The cast was amazing my favorite was Lumiere, he was hilarious and sounded just like the movie character. I would pay to see this show 100 times over!

From start to finish it was an amazing show. Super talented cast! See a classic movie come to life on stage is a real treat! Felt like a big kid throughout the entire show!!

This, hands down is one of the best shows I have seen. They did a wonderful job outing together this childhood classic of mine. The show was witty, exciting, colorful, and just all together well done! The cast did a great job! If you're thinking of seeing a show, make it this one! Also, the seats were great! I thouroughly enjoyed this production. I thought the cast was excellent. The props were only mediocre but enjoyable still.

So my boyfriend and I found out Beauty and Beast was coming to Chicago in March! We bought our tickets in January for a GREAT price, and got the tickets in 2-3 days, as promised. There was a line to get in, but we made it indoors about 15 minutes before showtime! The cast was hilarious, the music was phenomenal, and the sets & costumes were perfect. The first half of the show was so detailed and perfect! And then, intermission came.. I wanted to stay at our seats, but my boyfriend suggested we get popcorn (even though he doesn't like eating it), and I agreed. After I stood up, he grabbed my hand and said his beautiful speech. At the end, he asked "Jennifer, will you marry me?" And in tears of joy, I said YES! Right away, we received a standing ovation from the audience!!! Someone offered to take a picture of us, but security said Congrats, but it was not allowed, so we went to the lobby. Everyone was congratulating us, and we felt like celebrities! The second half of the show was amazing, I cried at the end cause I was so sad it was over! Will totally watch this show over and over again in my head, and will especially remember intermission.

Great show from start to finish. Nothing negative to say at all. The show started on time and the cast was excellent!

Sweet play..... Enjoyable for children and adults. The music was good. The children in the audience appeared captivated.

Beauty & the Beast was incredible! Great sets, songs, actors, orchestra, costumes, everything!

The secondary actors seemed to put more effort into their parts than the two leads. The orchestra sounded a bit tinty which I'm sure was due to the sound system rather than the players. It was an enjoyable play though just not one of the best I've seen for this musical especially for the price per ticket

Seeing this play is enjoyable each time I see it. It was an excellent performance by all. It is one of my favorites to see with my wife, probably because we resemble the characters.

My wife and I were really looking forward to seeing this production, but were mostly disappointed. The main reason is that Belle was not good, and since she is in most of the scenes it ruined them. We did like most of the supporting cast, so it was not a waste of time. I would not recommend this production of Beauty and the Beast. We have seen many musicals and plays in Chicago and we are looking forward to seeing Phantom of the Opera later this year.

Great show to take a friend who is a total Disney girl, i haven't seen the movie since i was a kid but the performance brought back all those awesome memories. Cast was fantastic and the music was outstanding.

I'm not sure what show I was watching, but it was not "Beauty and the Beast." This production was unprofessional. We left at intermission. I am extremely displeased at the immaturity of a handful of the actors. Other actors had very low energy. In short, many leads tried to make the show about themselves. Let's put the show and our characters first, please. I really wish we could get our money back.

The theater The staff in the show were all excellent. Would recommend to anyone to bring persons of all ages.

Took my almost 4 year old daughter to see this and she loved it. The performances were great and the theater does a great job to accommodate for the kids, even providing booster cushions.

Great show! First Disney musical I have seen and would see another Disney show in the future. Terrible seats though.

This was a beautiful musical. I loved every moment of it and I was sad when it was over. I will definitely see it again when it is in town.

Loved the show. The music, dancing, singing, costumes, and set were all amazing, looking forward to our next show at the Cadillac Palace!

The Cadillac theatre was very nice with spacious seating. The show was great. My daughters ages 22 and 16 both thought it was the best thing we did in chicago.

Our seats were located in the first row of the LOGE, and they were great. All of the actors were extremely talented. We thoroughly enjoyed it!

Great story, great actors, and great music, great costumes

It was a three generation event - daughter, daughters-in-law, and granddaughter and we all just loved it. Performances were out of this world and the casting was absolutely perfect. Highly recommended!!!

This is probably my fifth or sixth time in enjoying Beauty and the Beast on Broadway, and this was by far the best version. The voice of the entire cast was wonderful, but Belle and The Best truly standout. You will not be disappointed if you see this delightful tale brought to life.

This production is so much fun; even for adults! There were only two things I was slightly disappointed about: the scene where the Beast fights the wolves in the forest (it didn't even look like a fight scene on stage) and the rose (you could not really see nor tell it was a rose, maybe it was due to the angle we were sitting but I think this could have been represented better). Overall satisfied with the show and would recommend to a friend.

This was the best show ever! The costumes, the set, the singing were all amazing. The cast nailed every performance and it was straight from the movie. I had chills watching! Definitely a must see when it comes in town!

Amazing performance, we enjoyed, beauty and the beast was mine and my daughter for musical we loved it , we can't wait for the Aladdin Musical ,thank you so much to people who work so hard and did an amazing job .

Booked the show for my girlfriend who's favorite Disney movie is Beauty and The Beast. She's never seen it on Broadway. I'm personally not a fan of Broadway or musicals in general but seeing her face light up and being actually entertained myself was worth the "discomfort". The cast killed it throughout the entire show. Funny, sad, entertaining, etc.

The actors truly brought to life the story, and the choreographer truly worked with the cast a lot on all the routines! It was well worth every penny and very well thought out and done.

Beauty and the Beast had extraordinary costumes and brilliant choreography. The show did not disappoint.

It was wonderful. It lived up to the book when mom read it back in the 50s

I've seen Broadway in New York and the quality of this show was just as good if not better. The performances were excellent and the sets were spectacular. I can understand why it was a challenge getting tickets. I look forward to seeing other performances in Chicago.

Everything was great--music, scenery, costumes. And the actors did a marvelous job.

From the start to the end this musical was fantastic. The actors, music, singing, humor, and Staging was amazing.

Beauty and the Beast by far one of the best performances I've ever seen! The actress that played Belle was extraordinary! Note to parents of very young children, wait until they are at least 8 years old so they can appreciate a non-animated performance.

Enjoyable show. Good for any age. It's felt a little long in places but the music was great.

The show was delightful. We saw this I believe 7 to 8 years ago in Chicago, and it was just as much fun the second time. As a matter of fact, Beast was a real plus in this show. Wonderful job. Beauty and the Beast is in my top 5 of a very long list of favorite Disney films, and it touches me in a very personal level. Loved it!!

Beauty and the Beast is one of my favorite Disney movies and the Broadway version did not disappoint! Caught myself singing along to the songs, laughed out loud, and loved how the actors were so similar to the movie characters. Lumiere and Gaston were especially spot on! Loved the overall experience and would definitely recommend it.

Call it high expectations (this is my favorite Disney film) but I had a few issues with the execution and experience of seeing the show. For one thing, tickets were expensive for this thing - $60 for Upper Balcony, next to chatty high-schoolers and parents with little girls in Belle costumes who couldn't sit still. 10 minutes into the show, I got up to watch the first act from the usher's aisle to give myself space to breathe and move around a little (seats are claustrophobically close up there!). The show itself had its magical moments (Be Our Guest a true show-stopper) but if you're expecting high-quality theatrical effects, you'll be disappointed. This show's set pieces, costumes and lighting effects come straight from the 90s. Parts of the set looked like they were made of cardboard. Gaston's pub chair looked like it could break in half easily. The object costumes were way too cheesy and poor Chip was moved around on a cart with his head sticking out (why couldn't he walk around like the other objects?) Beast's transformation involved a magic-trick elevation effect, but I was expecting something alongside Cirque du Soleil, not the actor just laying flat, stiff as a board. Actors were great, everyone was super talented, but again they just had to deal with very out-dated material. Compared to The Lion King, this show needs to get with the times and use more of an intriguing set-up for costume and stage design for people watching way up in the balcony.

The musical was very good, the leads have great singing talent. There were several humorous scenes- the Beast was great at throwing a temper tantrum. There was even a slight adult edge to the musical, with drinking and slight innuendo.

My family and I had a wonderful time ! One of the best performances I have ever witnessed!

The show was incredible!!! We had 1st row seats, which were amazing. I have been to this Theater before and there is not a bad seat, but we were the closest I have ever been. The performers were amazing, and the orcastra, WoW! This was one of my Daughters favorite movies, so needless to say, we watched it several times a day when she was young. She now is 27, so to see it with her was priceless. You can't go wrong. It will be a night to remember.

I liked Be Our Guest. I liked If I Can't Love Her. I liked Cogsworth. I liked Lumiere. I liked Jillian's singing voice. I liked when the Beast was going around in circles. I liked when the Beast was laying on his back. I liked Mrs. Potts. I liked when Belle and the Beast were dancing. I like when the Beast was going upside down. I liked Gaston's singing voice.

I enjoyed the musical. The dance with the beer mugs was amazing. Everything about this musical was great.

The production was beautiful. The sets were intriguing and a good use of the space. The singers really showcased their voices.

I took my 9yr old daughter to her first Broadway show (she has previously only seen children musicals/plays). We both LOVED it!! So much fun, really enjoyed the humor from several characters and my personal favorite was the dance with the cups in the lodge. Very well done!! I remember seeing Beauty and the Beast several years ago (more than 10 years) and really enjoyed it then too. Can't go wrong seeing the Beauty and the Beast!!

First I would like to say that I took my grand daughter to the play and she loved it. I however found the staging, costumes and overall experience fair at best. By the cost of the tickets I expected a lot more. I will say that I thought Bell was great! The production Disney puts on at Disney World in Florida is much better even though they lip sinc the staging and the costumes are much more appealing. I was thinking about buying Lion King tickets but now have doubts. I really don't want to spend that kind of money and have a High School production experience. I guess that sums up my take on Beauty and the Beast... a high school production at best!

I would recommend this to everyone! Beauty and the beast is my favorite Disney movie so I already had high expectations but it was THE BEST I've ever seen. I was instantly transformed to when I was a child. I didn't want it to end. The cast did a great job. I loved how funny Gaston and Lumiere were.

The tale as old as time comes to life on stage in the traveling Broadway edition of the show. Absolutely magical. Some differences from the movie you are used to, but absolutely perfect on stage. Gaston was amazing. He remains the villain you can't help but like. Lumiere and Babette simply steal the show. They are absolutely adorable, and my girlfriend and I still make references to their lines. The costuming was fantastic. It's not easy to make inanimate objects come to life on stage. The music was superb. The venue is absolutely great. We were toward the back of the theatre, but the view was just as good there as anywhere. Highly recommend any show at the Palace, and any show which Disney brings to town.

I guess I should have read more closely. While the show was well done (great job, performers!), it was missing that Broadway "pop." Two numbers (Mason De Loon, and No Matter What) were cut, and the beast failed to be particularly menacing by means of costuming (but a great performer!).. Loved the bar number (Gaston) - they did fun choreography with beer mugs, and I was impressed by the carpet's acrobatics in Be Our Guest. Also Lumiere was hilarious! ... Overall, I would say this was on par with an excellent University production. had I been expecting that (as opposed to Broadway), I would have been absolutely satisfied.

My 4 year old granddaughter was enthralled. The performance also kept the attention of adults. Since my review of the seats doesn't seem to be included, I'm going to say here that they were horrible. Definitely obstructed view. The weight of a 4 year old could not keep the seat in the down position.

Loved the show. The actors were great, especially Lumiere (spelling?). My only complaint is the use of curtains that border the sides and top of the stage. It narrows the stage severely. I was in the left orchestra... 5 seats from the center aisle and my view was obscured. In other productions, this seat is fine.

This play was NOT even close to Disney's standards. I've seen several Disney plays, and they've all been astonishing, except for this one. This one, I have to say, was so below my expectations. The only character that I can say that really played his role well and had the voice for it was Gaston. All the others, can't say they nailed it. You'd think they'll be extremely selective with Belle's character, but apparently that wasn't the case. They tried (too hard) to bring Beast's role to a more playful and funny character and failed miserably. They took too many liberties, came up with new songs -that were not very good- and the Lumiere character -who was supposed to be the great character- over did his role to a point where it became a bit raunchy (supposed to be a Casanova, but ended up looking like a pervert). Even some costumes were not the best choice for what you'd expect to be a children-focused play. Sad to say, but this is the very first play where I was just hoping for it to end... Tacky, cheesy, and even a tad raunchy. I didn't like it from the start, and I kept wishing that they'd turn it around sometime, maybe after the intermission, but no luck. The "special effects" were unimaginative and dull. Really nothing stood out in this play.

I took the Mrs. and another couple and it was charming. Even though you know the outcome, the cast and the performance was first rate. Belle, Gaston and the Candleholder stood out even more impressively. I missed seeing the play on the first go round, and was glad I caught this time. The Cadillac Place's performances have been terrific.
