The Fray

Colorado alternative rockers The Fray have given fans of Counting Crows and U2 a new generation of melodic rock anthems to call their own. With the release of their third studio album Scars & Stories in 2012, the band took an edgier approach to their songwriting, scoring hits with singles like “Heartbeat” and “Run for Your Life.” Despite more aggressive lyrical content, the piano-driven songs still found a soft spot in fans’ hearts, earning the album a No. 4 position on the Billboard 200.

This show was completely enthralling, which is good because we traveled from Tampa to see it! Afterwards, we were lucky enough to meet Isaac of The Fray, and most of American Authors! It was totally worth the trip for myself and my 5 year old son (he was the one who really wanted to go).

Great show. American Authors were great. The Fray were amazing. Me and my husband had a great night listening to both groups. The Chicago Theater was a perfect place for the concert.

It was an amazing 4th of July celebration and both Jack's Mannequin and The Fray really put on a fantastic show. They both seemed very grateful to be playing and really thanked the crowd for their support.

The show opened with some very unknown band that was not so good. Their music was to show tuney. Jack's Mannequin was superb. They handled the stage well and Andrew was AWESOME on the piano. The Fray was lack luster and rather boring, that played their well known HIT and that was the high moment during The Fray's performance. The rest of their songs were annoying and not catchy.

The concert started on time with a great opening band before Jack's Mannequin came on. Jack's Mannequin played very well and the atmosphere in the theater was electric. The Fray was amazing live and I can honestly say it was the best concert I have ever been to.

The concert started off with Jacks Mannequin doing an amazing preformance ending with Tom Pettys, American Girl. After they sang they signed autographs for the crowd which was really cool. Then The Fray started. They put on the best preformance I've ever seen and the stage lighting and setup was amazing. They sang all of their best songs and it was a concert that you will never forget. Isaac, Joe, Dave, and Ben basically made themselves part of the best band ever with last nights concert.

I am an avid summerfest-goer. I have seen countless artists at all of the stages, but this was my first time seeing a concert in the amphitheater. My friends and I got lawn seats just because they were the least expensive, so I was a little apprehensive about how great my experience would be-but was I wrong! Our seats were PERFECT! We had a view of the entire stage, and the mega-screens above the stage from a relaxing lawn-venue. We brought blankets to sit on for the pre-show, and then it was standing from there on out! We danced, sang and cried in amazment of how moving the talented group could really be. Each and every song was performed with the same intensity of their records, we honestly were so impressed. And just when they left off stage with out playing our favorite songs, they came back on stage for an impressive 4-song encore, including an amazing acoustic cover of Kanye West's "Heartless", and my personal favorite, "All at once". In addition to our amazement of how spectacularly similar their live performances were to their recorded ones, the intensity of their stage lights/effects matched each and every song. With out a doubt, this was the best concert I have ever seen, and in my opinion, one of the most respectable bands to ever grace the summerfest scene. They were humble, insightful, and an absolute honor to watch.

I may have been one of the oldest guy's there 52.Ihave seen many shows and after last Nights show I'm a Huge Fan. The Music was amazing and full of energy. When Jack's Mannequin took the stage you knew it was going to be special. The fans of these bands are younger and know every word to every song.It was so awesome to see everyone having a great time. The Sound was incrediable. Light show Rocked. They could feel the thunder in Chicago. I bought 2 Fray CD's from Best Buy as soon as I got home. This Sow KICKED BUTT!!!! Having a young following was good for me no line for BEER!

The opening act for Jack's Manneqin kind of sucked and no one knew who they were, but once Jack's Mannequin got on stage, the concert rocked! So much energy and good music. When The Fray took the stage, OMG!! The lights were awesome and The Fray rocked it out. I would definitely go see them again without hesitation.

I mainly went to the concert because Jack's mannequin was opening. Jack's was amazing as always and even played an old Something Corporate song. Not only that, but they offered an autograph signing after their set. The Fray came on strong and played for an hour and a half. The lead singer sang wonderfully, with no flaws. It sounded suprisingly like their CD. I really enjoyed myself

I was glad to a band that I liked, but because they were the opening band, the tv screens displaying the stage were still and a bit far away from the band. I was far away and could barely see the stage with my own eyes, so I thought that they should have put more effort in allowing us to see them up close via camera. The Fray was next and they had all the fancy lighting and awesome camera moves. Why couldn't the opening band at least have a little more camera coverage? Who knows.

They were alright, I personally think they should have played some more songs, the show was only about an hour. I saw Gavin Degraw the night before and thought he put on a way better show for free. Now I am judging based on a lawn seat and front row so that isn't really comparable. But they sounded AMAZING, same as the radio, I would recommend them if you want to hear some good music.

After the energetic piano playing of Andrew Mc Mahon and the great stage show of Jack's Mannequin, The Fray was a let-down. Not bad music, just boring stage show, even with fancy lighting. I would still go again to see Jack's; I'd just hope they'd be solo at a free stage or headlining at the Marcus Ampitheater next year.

Jack's Mannequin was a very talented opening act who fit well with the crowd for the Fray. The Fray played a lot of their newest album and were very strong vocally and musically. There were quirky elements like a ghost on stage that made it fun. I would recommend going if you are in a chill mood though because it is not pump up music.

The Fray was absolutely beautiful. It was the best concert I have ever been to. Isaac Slade is truly a phenomenal performer. He came down to where we were sitting and it was a great concert experience. He dedicated Be Still and Happiness to the victims of the Colorado shooting, and it was eerily silent during Be Still. Just him and the piano. The screams after that song were absolutely incredible. The Fray is great live. I am not a huge Kelly fan, we went for The Fray. I must admit though, she is a great performer as well but The Fray outshone her in my opinion. This concert was extremely long.. From 7-11:15. I enjoyed every moment of it. Carolina Liar was a great choice for opening this particular type of concert.

It was cold and rainy, but the Fray had an amazing show it was worth it. I also enjoyed how they are down to earth artists. I have seen artists wait on stage, silently, and hear the crowd clap for them for more than a minute, they were far from that. I'm so happy I was able to see them in concert. I also liked how the lighting was set up, very neat.

Always amazing. Never disappoints. Isaac and Co. put on a life-changing show. With the release of their latest album, Scars & Stories, the band performs all of their hits plus numerous songs off the new album including my favorite song, "The Fighter." Isaac always comes into the audience but surprised us by coming in twice at the show. What a spiritual experience. The openers were a band from the UK whose music I'd never heard before. They wowed me with the first note. The singer Danny has a crystal clear voice and can rock it out. The other singer Aimee has stunning vocals that took my breath away. This is a show you can't miss!

This show was fantastic, it opened with Skylar Gray who was good, though not really my style. But then it progressed with Andy Grammer who was phenomenal and quite possible my favorite acts of the night. He has an amazing voice and has a good sense of humor. He really connects to his audience making it an even better performance. His songs were wonderful and his renditions of "Apologize" and "Chasing Cars" were absolutely amazing. Really great performer and a genuinely nice guy. While clearly being rushed with security to go with suitcases in tow, he was kind enough to stop and take pictures with everyone and sign autographs and just have normal conversations with people. A truly down to Earth guy with exceptional talent, I have no doubt that Andy Grammer will be a huge star and success in the near future. Gavin Degraw was next and he was amazing. He put on an excellent show and I really liked him. Finally the Fray performed and were absolutely fantastic. Though I wish their set was a little longer, they did play and decent sized set but was shorter than Gavin's who was one of the opening acts. It was amazing to see the Fray live and they sounded even better than their cd, I would definitely see all this people again live, except for Skylar.

Really glad we attended this concert. Was a great evening from start to finish. Parking free with ticket price (love that), walked partially from Soldiers Field parking, then jumped on trolly. Great driver, funny....be sure to tip! Got there for the second back up band, Barcelona, really enjoyed them. Great music, lead singer has incredible voice and great interaction with the audience. (have been watching their you tubes today.... check out "Background" - great song, interesting video). Think we'll be seeing a lot more of them. Beer was cold, vendors nice, (parent volunteers for their kids' sports team), love the Fat Tire. Totally foggy, but kinda added to the night. The stands were blocking the wet mist from the lake for us. Frey was great. Beautiful voice. Loved the spiritual....same one the Avett Brothers do at their concerts, but you guys had a different twist. Took one of those bike caddies back to the parking, young man from Downers Grove who is working his way to U of I in the fall. Good luck! Exited parking quickly. Note: Pics are also from the following evening (Ray Lamontagne)...section 304....just down a bit, but about the same (305 better)

The more I think about the show in retrospect, the more I wish I could follow the entire tour. The setlist combined all their hits, during which the crowd screamed out each word back at the band, plus a good mix of new songs. The show was mostly high-energy with pockets of slower-tempo emotional songs to break up the action. I looked up past setlists ahead of time, so I knew what to expect. The only substitution I would've wanted was to switch out Joe's song with "Rainy Zurich" instead of "Ungodly Hour," but that's a personal preference. My favorite song to see live was probably "Wherever This Goes" where Dave took the piano and Joe and Isaac shared a microphone. I knew the first timeI heard that song on the new album that it would be the perfect song live, and I was not disappointed.

My daughter and I went VIP and had the time of our lives. We met the band and they were so nice and down to earth! Raw talent is what we witnessed and Isaac's voice is like a melody. I will be at the next Fray concert, hopefully at The Paramount and soon.

I loved the fact I could see multiple artist in one spot! They were all so good live !!!! The Fray was my favorite, but they all were so good! I enjoyed myself. The only thing I wish is I had gotten seats closer to the stage. We were on the floor and everyone in front of us would stand up and we couldn't see anything because we were shorter than them :( but overall super good concert!!

The Fray was a good show. The Paramount is a wonderful venue. As always I would like the shows to be a little longer.

I honestly loved this theater. (Except the parking. That was a little weird) it was small enough that you could see the Fray from everywhere yet big enough so youre not sitting on your neighbors. The stage was pretty messy and unprofessional. It in my opinion, it was cool. After your ears adjusted, the sound was good. The drive was terrible to MontClair but I guess that's not their fault xD

The concert tickets and initial event name were both misleading. I bought tickets as soon as the event opened. My tickets said "Kelly Clarkson and The Fray." Kelly Clarkson's name was bigger on the ticket and listed first, which made it seem like she was the headliner. The Tuscaloosa Ampitheater never changed the listing on their website that said Kelly Clarkson and The Fray. Kelly headlining was the reason I bought tickets in the first place. Closer to the event, tv commercials and radio spots made it sound like Kelly was the lower act. She came on first, then The Fray. People started leaving after she performed and Isaac from The Fray kept running out into the crowd to keep people interested to deter them from leaving. If the house was to remain packed, Kelly should have gone last. Very misleading event. Though, as I found out the night after, it was a co-headlining tour, and they did play equal sets. I'm just sad it wasn't a packed house after Kelly performed. She pumped up the crowd and the sound of The Fray just couldn't compare or keep up.

Great venue too... Kelly cracked us up saying was nice to be in A/C ;) We had mid-floor tickets and both Kelly & Isaac came out immediately behind us to perform a while - totally great pics n video. And I had pretty nice company too. Good night!

Awesome, awesome show! I like The Fray, but I was there for Kelly and she killed it! She sang her usual staples (her latest rocked out rendition of Miss Independent is amazing) as well as some songs from her new album Stronger. She also did a cover of fun.'s 'We are Young' and her fan request cover was Kings of Leon's 'Cold Desert,' both of which were phenomenal! The Fray put on a great show as well, singing all their hit singles and some other songs I wasn't familiar with. The lead singer spent the last two songs in the audience performing from a rafter. I may be biased, but in my honest opinion, Kelly was the star of this show!

This was an amazing concert! They were very in tune with their fans and played wonderfully! The crowd just loved them and the feeling was definitely mutual! Isaac interacted with the crowd as if he was one of them.

The Fray was bloody awesome! They sounded great live, and not all bands can say that. I really enjoyed the lighting effects they used too. The guys were great and I can't wait till they come back to Edgefield!

Jack's Mannequin is such a great band! The Fray had awesome light show and they sound just as great in person as they do on their albums. The Santa Barbara Bowl is a great outdoor venue. But I prefer smaller venues so that is why I can only give it 4 out of 5 stars.

This was my first time ever going to a concert and it was definately an experience i will never forget! The lighting was great, it wasn't too crowded, and the bands were unforgettable! The Fray was more than happy to come back out and play four more songs when the crowd wouldn't leave and kept cheering for more.

My boyfriend and I went to The Fray in concert at the Target Center in Minneapolis, opened by Jack's Mannequin on July 21st. The entire concert was incredible, but watching The Fray live was so much more than that. I left that concert feeling moved and that our money was very well spent. I would go see them again if I ever got the chance!

I originally went to the concert just to see Jack's Mannequin because they are my favorite band and I was blown away by how amazing both bands performed. Jack's Mannequin performed better than I'd ever seen them before and I've seen them six times. And The Fray was PHENOMENAL!!! Both lead singers were feeling a bit under the weather as they mentioned to the audience but you would never have been able to tell from the way they performed. It was absolutely amazing. I would recommend anyone go see them in concert and I would definitely see them again.

The Fray played at Cricket Wireless Amphitheater on a lovely summer evening, July 28th, in San Diego. Opening acts Jack's Mannequin and Vedera played very well. I would keep an eye on Vedera, they have a good sound and will probably get a good size following within the year. Jack's Mannequin always delivers. Even with a bit of a bug Andrew never stopped singing, dancing and jumping on his piano. They played a good mix of old and new songs. I was very happy to see Jack's Mannequin and this show makes me appreciate the new album even more. The Fray also played a good mix of old and new songs and even played a few covers including "Heartless." I loved the music but even more impressive was how well the lighting and video streams matched the songs. I noticed the video stream the most during "Little House" because it flickered between all the band members which matched the lyric "something trying to scratch its way out." Also the close up of Isaac Slade playing the piano during "Look After You" was perfect. I always like to see Joe King sing more as lead vocals, nothing against Isaac. Maybe Joe should shave his mustache, sorry it looks ridiculous. I loved the six song encore, but felt a little bad for the dumb people who left early to miss traffic. The long encore was defiantly worth the traffic later. But seriously the music was amazing, the opening bands complemented The Fray well and whoever did the lighting and video should get a raise, that was seriously amazing and added a lot to the show.
