The show started out and loved hearing the oldies! Lots of smiles on everyone's face as we all know music takes us back to a special time and a special memory...Mine was Paul and Paula singing their hit tune as Friday would have been my husband's and my 39th wedding anniversary had he not passed so I brought a girlfriend with me and we ended up dancing in the isles!! No one could sit still!! It felt great to feel the music and "dance like nobody is watching" !! Love Humphrey's venue!! Great way to end the summer!! See you next year for sure :) Hope you get the Beach Boys back there again too!!

Very good show. The talent was wonderful. I just wish they did a few more songs. Maybe less acts so they could sing longer.

All the groups were great, they sang great and also gave some entertainment by talking to the audience. The end was amazing the groups all come out onto stage and sin together.

They may be getting on in years but they've lost nothing in voice or presentation. A sensational evening with real stars singing real songs the way it used to be. Just hearing the Marcells singing Blue Moon was worth the trip from London and the Contours, Eugene Pitt & The Jive Five and Shirley Alston-Reeves were all great. Nice venue too - catch the show if you can.

I must start by saying that the theater is so beautiful and i was just blown away by the work that was done there. Bravo. Now moving on to the Doo Wop show. Well what can you say after spending a couple hours with some of the greatest groups of my public, junior High and high school years performing in person, right in front of us. The show brought back so many memories (and it is true, you do remember where or what you were doing the first time you ever heard the tunes) and it was rejuvenating and a major thrill having been to see and hear it all. The cherry on top of the icing was definitely the Skyliners, and what a wonderful treat that was. I felt like a teenager again. Thank you so very much for making what was just a memory (1957-1964)become an experience in real time (2009). Keep up the good work as us baby boomers are longing for this and more. Thanks to all involved, and especially the performers. Mister D

There were so many groups singing like the Shirelles and the Jive Five singing the fantastic songs I remember and they all sang well. That was absolutely amazing. All 4 of us were clapping, dancing in our seats and swaying back and forth.

I bought my husband these tickets for a Father's Day present since he loves Doo Wop. We are a little on the young side but had listened to this music as young kids through our parents. We really enjoyed the show. There was a big variety of groups and all were great! Would recommend for all to see that are a fan of this genre.

This was the best Doo Wop show Ive seen in many years. The groups, all with original members were fantastic. Eugene Pitt and the Jive Five were magnificient, as well as the Tymes, and my favorite Jimmy B eaumont & the Skyliners. If there are any future concerts, produced this way, I will be there.

What a spectacular show! I'm only 23, but I love doo-wop, and I treated my parents to this show and it was such a special night for all of us. Seeing these iconic figures who I've idolized my whole life was a truly inspiring moment - I work for a celebrity myself and don't often get starstruck, but it's a really different thing to see someone who started a whole movement and who clearly still - after all these years - loves what they do and what they've done. These artists were some of the founders of the genres of music everyone loves today, and it was incredible to be part of such a wonderful tribute to them and to their peers. Well done all around!!

I have been to a lot of shows this past year, New Jersey, Staten Island, and New York. But this show without of doubt was the best. The talent was at the top of the performances and the production was what you would expect from a NYC venue. I' ve been to shows were speaker's hummed with feedback, spotlights didn't hit their marks, and the talent was there only for a payday. Hope this will become an annual event.

Let me tell you - if you wanted proof that doowopp music is ALIVE and WELL in New York City, look no further than this show at the Beacon Theatre. With Jimmy Beaumont and the Skyliners and the Contours, not to mention Shirley Alston-Reeves and Cathy Jean and the Roommates on the bill, this was a WINNER!! Highlight for me - the Contours - man, I had heard about them and seen them in videos, but in person they were on fire!! Their harmonies were tight, their dancing was even tighter...and the Tymes - ah, man, they were GREAT - just sweet and SO TIGHT...and then seeing Cathy Jean and the Roommates for me - this lady STILL knows how to put on a show, let me tell you!! My only beef - they should have used the group Free Expression to open up the show instead of the group they used - Free Expression, who was at last year's Beacon show - I mean, these people can SING!!

From start to finish the Ultimate Doo Wop Show was fantastic. Great line up of groups. The Duprees were the final act and they were the icing on the cake. Fantastic!! So many memories. I love going to the Beacon near 74th Street. It's busy but not like the theater district where it's so crowded. The theater itself is older architecture which is beautiful. It's well maintained and our seats up in the loge were the best. When this show comes back into town we're going again.

Very little Doo-Wop. The last performer took almost the entire 2nd half and sang non DOO-Wop--they should refund our monies! Of all the shows we have attended over the years this one was extremely week, it misrepresented itself to the consumer by stating certain performers would be in attendance a year ago; instead it was a mismash with a fellow as a master of ceremony whothought he was a performer himself: should get another job.

I am glad to see that Doo- Wop shows are still available and people are going to see them. I loved all the groups but I thought Barbara Lynn was fantastic when she played the guitar while singing "if you should lose me, you'll lose a good thing". I also loved the Marcels when they did a medley of songs. The staging was orchestrated well and kept the switching of the groups running smooth. My mom introduced me to Doo-Wop many years ago and I still love it to this day. Shows the true talent of the human voice and love the harmonies and also the artists are well dressed when performing.

the show was excellent as well as the performers. BUT, the only thing that disturbed me and irked me was the fact that the marcels did not pay tribute or acknowledge the fact thqat one of there members recently passed on. i thought that was rude and soooo disrespectful to the family of the deceased. no matter what their off stage relationship was, they still played together for over 40 years, and it certainly would not have not any harm in acknowledging that member at all. too me, that really is messed up. but, what goes around comes around. maurice williams had the courtesy and descency of acknowledging the fact that davi sommerville formerly of the diamonds passed on last year. that was really so honorable of him. and i respect him so much and thought he waas absolutely terrific !!! other than that the show itself was fantastic.. loved every moment under the marcels performed that is.

I wouldn't call it the ultimate, unless I was referring to the age of the performers. It was a wonderful evening because these performers in their late 60s, 70s and some cases 80s, gave their all. I don't like the duckwalking Henry. His comments are full of hyperbole and it is evident that he is tired of repeating the same thing over and over. The performers however, no matter how many times they sing the same song, are full of authentic emotion. That can't be said for too many of the fill-in performers who are younger and don't Get It. For me, the primary example of this was a young hyperactive guy in the gold shirt who seemed to be the court jester for the blue-jacketed group from Detroit. He doesn't get that as emotive as DooWop is, it was never frenetic or hyper. It was always smooth.

There is only one small snafu. Some concert goers started to dance both in the aisles and in their seats. The ushers were quick to come over and tell them all to be seated. That happened twice in the evening, as the dancers were told they could not dance at their seats. They then went to the aisles during the next set of songs and the ushers returned again. The ushers finally explained that no one can stand at all during the concert at our seats or the aisles. We were all to remain seated. That was upsetting. But, other than that the night was great! The performers were wonderful, the playlists were fantastic! I recommend this concert to anyone who loves Doo Wop! Just maybe reconsider attending it at the Beacon Theater.

I attended the Ultimate Doo Wop Show this past Saturday night. Haven't been to one in a very long time. I love the oldies and enjoyed singing to my favorites and seeing some of the originals from the bands. The only thing I did not like is that The Beacon Threatre has a bar and allows people to bring drinks to their seats and I had a bunch of drunken loud mouths behind me that were distracting me so much I had to move to a different seat during intermission. At over $200 for 2 people for sitting in Row U, I think it's pretty steep to have to be distracted by people like this!! That's what bothered me most but again, all-in-all, the show was great!!

The concert definitely needs a better MC. He was difficult to follow. Otherwise, we had a great time! It was a pleasure to hear many of the oldies. I appreciated the conversation that some of the artists had with the audience. Not growing up in the 50's, I was "tickled" pink to share my favorite music with my two youngest daughters. After the first song, they asked to go to the back of the room. I asked why. They replied, "We just want to dance!" Wow! Thank you for a great concert!

Two of the groups were one-hit wonders, so they performed other songs to fill out their set. The Reflections had two singers with great voices. The Shades of Blue had a lead singer with a voice that was past it's prime. They also had some young guy come out and shilled for the group while dancing on stage. Not sure what his role was. The only person I was interested in was Jimmy Clanton. He was very good, but only sang three songs. Overall, the show wasn't worth the money.

Everyone was great, but Charlie Thomas, at the age of 77, words hardly say how great he and the Drifters were.the energy that they had was fantastic . Not too good. Why was there a gospel group There? Not doo wop. Shirley Austin Reeves: Not doo wop. The drifters? Ballads yes, doo wop ? No. We could have skipped the first half an not missed a thing. Dion saved the day, and there was enough of him-about an hour, I think. .

What a wonderful evening. I went primarily to hear Dion, but Shirley Austin Reeves and the Drifters were great! So impressive and they still have such talent. True stars shine through. As good as they were, Dion and his band were on fire! Dion was in great voice and was cool as always. He has some very talented musicians backing him and together they are hard to beat. Dion is still the king of rock and roll, and performed tirelessly for two hours. I could have stayed another two to hear more. What a great show in a beautiful venue.

The annual doo-wop show at the Beacon theater was the best ever. The Soul Stiirrers did the attribute to Sam Cooke, Shirley Alston Reeves performed all the gradients of the Shirelles to perfection with outstanding band, Charlie Thomases drifters also did great versions of their heads and sounded really great but the highlight of the show was the king of the New York streets Dion Di Mucci. His voice sounded great and his band was tight. He not only did all of his greatest hits including king of the New York streets, but also a great blues number on acoustic guitar and some fabulous covers such a summertime blues and Rave on, to keep the music alive. They all seemed to be enjoying themselves and put on a great high-energy show. The audience was very responsive and sang along to all of great tunes. But Dion was the star back in his hometown.

Dion was Amazing. He's approaching 75 and he sounded like he was 18.He was rock in like he was 18. Shirley Alston Reeves was great. She is approaching 73 and can still belt it out. The only problem was that the band overshadowed the performers. So an adjustment needs to be made so we get to hear the artist. But, the place was Rock in.

I would have been happy if Dion was the only act. He has great stage presence and his voice was strong. The lyrics were clearly heard and his backgroung music did not overwhelm the artist. They were all good. It was great hearing them do the songs they made famous. It brought you back to your youth. Dion was fabulous!

The show was wonderful. My husband and I never stopped singning. It was great to see some of the groups that we had forgot about but loved their songs. The room at the Golden Nugget was beautiful. Loved the band.

I saw two doo wop shows this weekend in Toledo. I saw the big show on Saturday night at The Stranahan with 13 groups. the tickets were $65.00 each and the show was fair at best. There were a few good moments of the show such as Marcels. I really enjoyed them. But the artists were only on for 3 songs and then left. I felt it was rushed and we did not get our moneys worth from each act. I saw another show the night before in Maumee. The tickets were only $25.00 and the show was phenomenal! Very exciting, very energetic and each act performed a nice set. The Teenagers were excellent and sounded just like the record. Shades of Blue were fantastic! They had so much energy and dance moves. I have never seen them before but they were as good as anyone i've seen in years. Danny & Juniors were histerical. They still got it. It was an excellent night on memories and fun and the price was reasonable.

This was advertised as being the equilvent of the PBS broadcasts. Unfortunately, this was not the case. The entertainment can only be described as average. For the price I paid I could have seen most, if not all, headliner entertainment performing at the North Charleston complex. I definately feel I was overcharged for this performance and will not even consider attending another function of this type.

Wonderful, Entertaining, Exciting! It was so much fun to hear some of the great old songs and to see the performers who did them. They are still amazing. They all deserved the 5 minute standing ovation they got! My husband and I loved the show and would definitely see it again should it come back this way.

3 of us went to see this show...Had "C" row seats..PAID $234.00..$78.00 a seat, just a bit high for a Disabled Senior Citizen, on a Social Security budget. BUT, nothing is FREE,at least for us Republicans.. Saw a outstanding show, with great performers. Brought back many great memories. Just wished they had more acts.. Time went by TOO fast..LOL Thanks Guys...

My wife and I have occasionally watched the Doo Wop on SCETV and enjoyed it very much but there is nothing like being there in person. We throughly enjoyed the whole evening and one of the things that made it so enjoyable was the artist enjoyed preforming. Please bring them back!

Right off the bat were 2 songs that I have on my playlist: Barbara Harris, the lead singer of the Toys did Lovers Concerto and I was thrilled. Next came the Jarmels with A Little Bit of Soap. Then came the Cookies, who did Chains. The all sang other songs as well and were good. The Cookies sang a lot of the songs they back up sang on, very fun. Also the Marcels sang Blue Moon and others. They were really good, any one of them could still sing lead. Also, the Skyliners, See You in September and Since I don't Have You. The Tokens did The Lion Sleeps Tonight, of course Portrait of My Love, they were still great. One of my favorites and a surprise was Jay Siegel ? I think, with the Tokens now... was the original singer of She Cried and I have always loved that song. So that was special. He was the original Jay of Jay and The Americans. My favorite of the evening, though, was Maurice Williams and the Zodiacs who did Stay and Little Darlin, which he wrote. I loved the whole thing! Poor Maurice had to stand bent over a lot because of his back.

I thought it was great but one of the acts were a little off. I felt bad for them, the lead singers just couldn't cut it anymore. The rest of them were wonderful and got better with each act. The final group The Tokens were wonderful. Jay of Jay and the Americans was great. Joe Sigels voice was as good now as when he first recorded his songs. We were amazed. I was disappointed that the didn't have programs to buy, and we couldn't find the groups when we were leaving. We would have bought some CD's..

We were honored to witness and enjoy the ending of an era. Even my husband had tears. We knew the words to every song. These performers still love what they do and it shows. We loved every minute and plan to seek out more of these performances while these artists are still around. Standing ovations after every song.

Great show! Band and singers were all very entertaining. Wish I could have stuffed something in the mouth of the guy behind me who felt he had to compete with the singers on stage. Very frustrating!!
