This show was his recording of a live CD and T.J. was fierce. I was too afraid to admit I was from Modesto. Love on uuuuuuu, T.J.!

It was worth the cost and TJ Miller was funny for our performance; however, each show is unique and requires the audience s participation to make the show worth while. Entertaining for an evening, but not bucket list, tell your grandkids in twenty years sort of ordeal.

I love tj miller. His standup, podcast, TV and movie appearances are all hilarious. I took my wife to see him do standup in nyc and she loved him too, and she is usually not one to quote jokes after a show but she is still referencing things from two years ago and from this week. He is just a uniquely funny individual whose talent is hard to describe and harder to contain.

T.J. Miller is very funny. If you haven't heard his podcast, "Cashing in with T.J. Miller", you should try it.

The venue was cozy and intimate, the opener, Nick Vatterott was fabulous and TJ Miller did an amazing job bringing a show tailored completely to the audience at Johnny D's. I would most definitely see another comedy show at Johnny D's, and would love to see TJ Miller and Nick Vatterott again.

TJ exceeded my expectations since I wasn't a fan of his until now. He won me over in Yogi Bear 3D (he's the star-that's for you TJ if your reading this). His opener seemed along different comedic lines than his and my girlfriend and I weren't fans but most of the room seemed to enjoy him. We are huge fans of stand up and will be life long fans of TJ who will someday be along side Louis CK and Bill Burr.

He was good. He has a great energy, nice personality. And he is funny, he gets the audience involved. I would go to him again. My only negative comment is sometimes he kept going with the same joke for too long, digging in and in. And he needs to add a few more jokes in a way that yes, he was funny, but I don't remember a joke that I laughed my ass off. But overall, he is a good guy and he was funny, potentially a normal/fun date night.

In a nutshell, half of our group of 15 was falling asleep during the show. Material was not well presented and comic just didn't seem to care. Not many laughs from the audience. I have seen many comedy shows and this one lacked even a basic element interest. He seemed disinterested in being there and it seemed he just wanted to get off stage. It wasn't his best night.

The enormity of T.J. Millers talent is often so overwhelming it can be hard to swallow. But I highly recommend you swallow it. Over and over and over again.... Just take it down like a fine malt liquor and you'll find yourself craving more.

You will be hard pressed to find another comedian who puts more effort into every show he puts on. I've seen him twice now, and he had totally different material each time, but each set was completely polished. Highly recommended!

TJ Miller is absolutely freakin hysterical. Best comedy show I have ever been to, hands down. His prepared material was awesome, and his off the cuff banter with the audience was even better. Nick Vatteroff was funny as well... perfect middle performer. Mary Van Note was brutal, but it actually worked because she was so terrible that I was really excited for the next two performers.

Something was missing, and it made me wonder if he cut his material short for some reason. It started with an opener doing maybe 10-15 minutes who was pretty great. Then two bigger named comedians performing at the next show did maybe 5 minutes each. I wasn't sure if this was planned or opportunistically added to fill out time. They were great, but unexpected since this was a short time slot. TJ Miller came on and did some slapstick stuff. He tried to weave this pseudo-intellectual joke throughout the set, but it didn't really go anywhere. Then he analyzed Duck Tales for like 20 minutes. The fact that this was the best part of the set was pretty disappointing. I don't think I would pay to see him again. I'm not too upset because the tickets weren't too expensive, but honestly I was expecting more and a tighter performance. Maybe it was just a bad night for him.

TJ's show at the Wilbur was a good time as he turned in a solid performance. Reading the other reviews I see a lot of negativity regarding the length of the act, as well as its content. As for the length of the act, this was a 7 o'clock show booked back to back with a 9:45 show. Considering that after TJ's show ended the Wilbur staff had to get everybody out and the theatre ready for the 9:45 show, TJ's set ending at 8:45 makes a sense. As for the content, I thought it was solid across the board. Made me smile and laugh, and that is why I'm a fan and went to see the show. Also, very cool to have a cameo by Ron Funches (the 9:45 headliner) for a few minutes before TJ came on. In summary, the show was "race cars, lasers, aeroplanes...it's a duckblur". Thanks TJ!

I've never seen him live before, so I was excited to see his stand up based on This is Not Happening and specials. However, I wasn't that impressed. It was more so an act and acting silly. Certainly funny, but I enjoyed the openers a whole lot more. He had the two guys performing the late show go before him which I really respect him for. When I pay that much, I expect much more so I won't go see him again.

I didn't really know what to expect from this show, but I left confused and disappointed. The whole show felt rushed, improvised, and just bland. T.J. was just not funny, he just seemed bored and ready to leave the stage.

Tj was quite funny at the start. Then started bringing up very serious societal topics and was unable to bring the humor back into the show. The spectators tried but no avail... He lost momentum. Disappointing appearance and it was very short. Wanted more material than just the DuckTales song.

I had high hopes for this show but left disappointed. A lot of physical comedy/slapstick which felt forced especially when he also tries to be very cerebral in certain parts of the show (i.e. a bit about nihilism and the deification of time). There was also an undercurrent of anger throughout his performance. We see a LOT of comedy shows and are open to different types of comedy, but I only laughed a few times during his set and was on the fence about leaving early. Too bad because as an actor I have appreciated his work, but I would not see his stand-up again.

The perfect word to describe this was disappointing. TJ just wasn't that funny. It is a shame because I am a big fan of Silicon Valley and Ehrlich Bachman so I was expecting a few laughs. His "Duck Tales" bit wasn't that funny and took up 20 mins out of his 40 mins performance. I thought his openers were funnier than he was

They held the doors for almost 30 minutes and then 3 other comics did short sets before TJ came on. They were all funny but the 3 comics followed by TJ ended the whole show at 8:30. That was a lot of money to spend for a single hour... the Wilbur also really needs to rethink its floor seating. Very tight quarters and difficult to see since people are sitting in stools directly in front of you on the same level. Horrible

TJ had a lot of idea that seemed to have a lot of potential but hardly capitolised on any of them. It mostly felt like a rant about nothing. The openers were hilarious though

He was only on stage for about 45 minutes. In that 45 minute span, he spent 20 minutes on a dumb and unfunny joke about the theme song of a show called Ducktales. Quite a disappointment. Nothing is worse at a comedy show than when a Headliner is outdone by the opening act.

The comics were good but the show was super short overall. First comic didn't go on til about 7:15 and TJ Miller ended right around 8:30. While the comedy was great it was very short and was expecting a bit longer for the money we paid. Drinks are extremely overpriced, $14 for a Coors Light.

I was really looking forward to this because I love what TJ Miller does on TV and in movies and this was my first time seeing him do stand-up. I would say most of it was relatively funny because it was mostly ad-libbed and he's pretty witty. It never really reached a point where he had actual jokes prepared though. When he ended the show the audience was slightly confused that he was done because he was just goofing off up there and it didn't quite seem like an actual stand-up show. I was slightly disappointed because I paid a decent amount of money for these tickets and I didn't feel happy at the end. Maybe I'm just not used to his style of stand-up or maybe he should just stick with acting..?

He seemed burnt out. Basically did 2 long form jokes, one involved periodically spilling bottled water on himself for no other reason than a cheap laugh. The other involved keeping playing a song from a childhood tv show (won't spoil it). He also seemed like he ended his set early. His performance seemed like less than 30 minutes

I'm a big TJ Miller fan so I was especially disappointed by the act which featured him dragging out acts for far too long. Microphone not working for far too long. Duck tales "joke" for far too long. And so on. I couldn't wait to get out.

Opening comedian was terrible, the second guy was pretty funny. TJ was not very good, spent way too long on a Duck Tales theme joke which was just not that funny. Overall I had a couple chuckles but not much more than that. So disappointed since we love him on Silicon Valley. He has an upcoming HBO special which I am curious about, maybe he used all his good material for that.

MeFranklySpeaking
Opening stand-up comedian Nick Vatterott was excellent! Smart and engaging, very very good. Kate Miller: Her singing act felt like a third-grade talent show. She has a very good voice actually, but you'd heard someone perform at that level at Karaoke any night of the week. Stand-up shows should be about stand-up. TJ Miller: This is why this review is getting one star. TJ Miller's portion of of the show (over 90 minutes) was atrocious. Absolutely horrendous. Uncreative and seemingly non-ending, it felt like torture. While it did have some good moments, the frequently prolonged jokes built up to weak and mediocre punchlines. I couldn't stand how narcissistic TJ Miller is--- over 15 minutes of him having the spotlight techs create various spotlights on him. Very annoying and not funny in the least bit. TJ Miller had a tough time telling his rehearsed material and loved taunting hecklers, and he actually encouraged hecklers. His contrived come-backs feel overly critical when he is practically demanding interruption from the audience members. He did a bunch of burp jokes that were just down right stupid. If I wanted to hear someone burp words I'd hand out with children, thanks. TJ Miller is a prop comic. He used his battle axe to tell a story that I couldn't care less about and couldn't wait to be over. Not only was it painful, it was uncreative. TJ Miller wants you to think he's intelligent. He spends most of his time talking about pot but what he really wants is for you to perceive him as an intellectual. His claim that no one can describe time and math efficiently was not only not funny, but erroneous. I don't think he's qualified to discuss such matters and his eagerness to be seen as smart feels forced and puerile. The show concludes with him inviting a member of the audience onstage, only to call him dad and leave a voicemail that says, "This is TJ Miller and I'm telling you to go fuck yourself". Really quite lame. Reminded me of stupid prank calls children would do. TJ Miller's act could benefit greatly from removing the majority of his rambling and pointless material. The show is far too long and filled with too far too few laughs. The bottom line is that TJ Miller is only funny when Mike Judge is writing his lines.

Show was too unscripted and included too much riffing off the audience. Singing by Kate seemed pointless and didn't fit into show. Show seemed to drag on and wasn't anywhere near as funny as Tjs podcast or movie appearances.

Saw the show last nite in Chicago last. Some of the opening acts were decent and we've seen them at the local Laugh Factory. I realize it must be fun to have your main squeeze on tour, but the wife's act was just embarrassing as she has limited talent. Her act reminded me of bad community theatre. Like somebody reported from the Boston show, he spent too much time on improvisational content and responding to annoy and drunk hecklers. Seemed like a very lazy and ill planned show as he didn't really get to many bits at all. He is very funny in Silicon Valley so deeply disappointed we wasted time and money on this dreadful show! As they say in Blighty, poor showing, mate!

I have never laughed this much at a show. I have never enjoyed a show this much. I have never seen a comedian that made me both laugh uncontrollably and question the way I live my life in the same joke. I couldn't recommend it more. He riffed and did crowd work for an hour before even touching his golden material (he did about half an hour of material after that). The openers (all 4) were unbelievable too. Don't wait another second before buying a ticket.

That was a mess from start to finish. First of all, there were THREE opening acts (one of which was Miller's wife, who sings) which took an hour. They were not great opening acts, so during this time, people are loading up on booze because they're bored. By the time TJ came out, everyone was a drunk mess and they were yelling things out and heckling the whole time. Miller engaged each of them, so never got to any actual material, except for a brief bit about time, which was the only highlight of this disaster. I would have liked for him to ignore the yellers and just get to his actual material. I have loved TJ Miller since his earlier days, as I am a comedy nerd, so this was really disappointing. I left before the end, after about 40 minutes of TJ's set.
