Love this musical and unfortunately I saw the movie before the musical. Cast is talented but didn't have that spark.

This is such a fun production because the music is exciting. We were expecting a Broadway type production - professional in voice and stage presentation. What we got was a little above a community production. We enjoyed it immensely but felt the quality was very lacking. Quite expensive for an amateurish production. By the time the production was ending we got over the fact that the voices weren't stellar and really enjoyed it. We have seen High School performances that were more Broadway like than this production.

While I enjoyed the music, I was disappointed in the quality of this production. I saw it previously in Chicago when it was here for a longer more permanent stay. I enjoy live orchestras, elaborate set designs, and large ensembles with excessive talent. I felt all these elements were missing in this National Touring Performing group. If you are just going for the music it's fine (as long as you don't mind the sing along to prerecorded music). Donna was excellent and had a wonderful voice, but it was often overwhelmed by the accompaniment. Just disappointed in the value for the ticket price. I have seen better productions in the suburbs at smaller venues. I will think twice before purchasing Broadway in Chicago shows again.

Having seen Mama Mia the first time around, then in Vegas, then on the big screen, I would say this production rates, maybe, a notch or two above what I would expect of a High School production. The 5 piece band (mostly electronic fill) sounded awful. The set design, and I use that term loosely, was something you could put together in your garage in a few hours. The lead - an Australian by birth - had a weak mean voice. Way too mean in her spoken lines. The rest of the cast was ho hum. And how funny is the section below wherein you can upload a picture. They only announced like 10 times that you can't take any photos (why would you anyway?).

This was our first play in the Chicago. We have a local theater that does productions that we have been too many time, so we wanted to see what it was like in Chicago. The Oriental Theatre was beautiful. But Mamma Mia was so very good, especially at the end when they put on a small concert of like 3 songs from ABBA and we all stood and waved our hands in the air. I want to see it again and take my daughter. I went with my mom and at one point we cried, but the rest was so funny. The singing was wonderful. The set they used was versatile for the entire play. If your thinking of if you should go or not...GO! You won't be sorry!

Despited a shaky start with the sound system (couldn't hear some, others too loud), we had a great time from start to finish. Of course, we already knew the plot and every song and dance, but that was part of the fun. Staging is pretty basic stuff but very creative in morphing into various scenes.

After seeing Mamma Mia in New York this summer, the Chicago performance didn't compare. While the show was entertaining, the singing could have been a little stronger. Hopefully, the performance was a little off due to the fact that it was opening night.

There are two things in life I thought I would love unconditionally: ABBA and musicals. This show has me reconsidering because it was so miserable. Sophie was screech-y and could not really nail any of her songs, Donna was either over or under acting, and the male leads just phoned it in. Both Harry and Sam were embarrassingly bad. The only good parts were Rosie and Tanya - decent voices and comedic timing. There was none of the energy, flamboyance of even happiness that you associate with ABBA. Would not see it again and have to write an apology note to the in-laws for dragging them to see it.

Very well done and executed. While there was not a full live band or orchestra, there were some musicians who played some instruments for a fuller, more real sound than just playing a recording. The acting was well done and the actors voices were well suited for their parts. I would highly recommend seeing this show, especially for those who are fans of the music of ABBA. We met the cast after the show and they were very high spirited, friendly and warm people. It was great to see how well they were with the people who wished to get their autographs.

The play was great and the music was top notch. I'm a big fan of the movie and so I enjoyed the familiarity parts of the production, as well as the unfamiliar parts. The Palace is a classic ornate theatre. My only issue is that our seats weren't great and a fidgety woman with big hair sat in front of me. I would recommend seating below the balcony as the view is much better.

My daughter and I enjoyed Mamma Mia very much. The acting and music were great. The audience got into it many times, clapping and cheering. It was a great happy musical. I was disappointed in that there was no attempt at scenery, that was so beautiful in the actual movie. I also was very disappointed in that there was no wedding reception scene at the end. However, the last hurrah at the end did help to relieve the no wedding reception disappointment. All and all I would recommend seeing this for a wonderful girl outing and walking away feeling great!

Although I've watched the movie 'Mamma Mia!', I've always wanted to see it in the theatre since it is a whole lot of different experience. This musical was great as I anticipated! This show was fun when we first saw it years ago and this spruced up version is tighter and slicker. This time around they tried to give a bit more attention on the individual characters and plot, but no matter the music is still there and you will definitely get your body swaying to the music if not even more involved. It is difficult to explain how a show of this type can be considered miscast since cast is really just another song, but this one is a bit.

With Mama Mia, you kind of know what you're getting and that's a good thing. An evening of pure fun, lighthearted music, a bunch of talented actors and whole lots of glitter and platform shoes. This production was far from adequate. The main cast presented with skills comparable to a high school performance . The music never got off the ground. The vocals never rose above the instrumentals. This is not the first time I see this show and I enjoy it every time I see it. It took a song or 2 for the leading 2 ladies to warm their vocal cords, but once they did, they were unstoppable balls of energy. Some of the other actors (singers) didn't stand up to being called singers, but were funny and great as actors. All in all, if you like Abba songs and/or European music, this show is worth a watch.

I absolutely loved this show! I've been a huge fan of the movie since I first saw it several years ago. Have never seen a musical version until now. I noticed that one song from the movie got left out at the end and there were several songs in the musical that were not in the movie at all. Not sure if they were originally a part of the musical that got cut out for the movie version, but they seemed like they didn't fit well for some reason. The mother/daughter duo was absolutely AMAZING!!!!!!! The voices of angels!!!!! There could not have been a better vocalist for these parts. The groom-to-be, however, was less polished and, although he could dance, was not a great vocalist. Loved the choreography of voulez-vous and man after midnight numbers. The set/props and staging were also great - made for easy transitions from scene to scene.

MAMMA MIA, what can I say? My wife was so happy that we were able to TAKE A CHANCE ON ME getting tickets to MAMMA MIA! Had I not been able to get tickets it would have been my WATERLOO and my wife would have had to become a DANCING QUEEN and run off with FERNANDO. Fantastic musical. The Australian actress who played Donna was great and had a wonderful voice. All the other actors held their own and did a good job with the singing and acting. The only low point to my experience was when the big guy in front of me decided to stand for the last 10 minutes and dance in his seat. Ya wanna dance? Go stand in the aisle like everyone else. MY wonderful seat suddenly became an obstructed viewing seat.

One of the top musicals in my book. The performers were absolutely amazing! The songs... well, the songs we all know. However, I kept thinking throughout the musical how well they match with the plot. After the show I had to look up if ABBA actually wrote them FOR the musical. I kind of knew they did not but was inclined to double guess myself because of a such a unbelievable match! It was so good that I would go and see it again right after it was finished! How many times are you ready to do that? I think that is the best possible review when you are ready to see it again walking out of a performance! Thank you, Mama Mia for 2.5 hrs of pure pleasure!

The music and dancing was excellence. Actors and Actresses did an OUTSTANDING job. All of there hard work of countless hours paid off. I REALLY ENJOYED the show

We go to many musicals. This was by far one of the very best. The cast was amazing. It was truly an unforgettable evening.

I've seen this twice. Really terrific. Pretty neat that a 47 yr old and a 15yr old both have a great time. Highly recommend!!!!
