After reading several negative reviews of past shows with poor sound quality and short set lists, we were quite nervous about seeing of Monsters and Men at the Roy Wilkins Auditorium. (Roy WIlkins is a tough venue for sound, think square box venue) From the opening song, the sound mix was spot on! We could clearly hear the vocals of Nanna and Ragnar, and the mix of the other instruments and percussion were appropriately leveled, and there was no excessive bass as experienced by attendees of previous shows. The band performed 15 songs before the encore, and added an additional three songs during the encore. In total, I believe they played 1.5 hours which good considering they only have 2 CDs released. Overall we had a great time watching this band and singing along with the songs we knew well.

I have been a fan of OMAM's music since their first album. After the new album came out I was intrigued by the thought of seeing them live, though I wondered if they could pull off their sound live (since their albums have rich production). I was in for a treat. They played all but 3 songs from their two albums. The 9-pc band was energetic and engaged. The extra musicians really round out their sound with horns, accordion, extra percussion, vocals and keyboard work. The songs were reproduced and played closely to the album versions. Being on the main floor we stood for the entire show. Their music is fun to sing to, clap along and stay engaged. The wide-ranging audience (in age) was fully into the show. I'm 55yo and my typical genre of music and concert style is progressive rock or sit down and listen style shows. But OMAM has a unique appeal. Their musicianship will not blow you away by any measure, but they sound great and deliver the goods.

Of Monsters and Men was a great show, in fact, I'd rate it about 4.5 stars but that wasn't an option. The first opening band was really entertaining but my attention dropped off after the long wait and second act which, in my opinion was terrible. I would definitely see Of Monsters and Men again. The music was very upbeat and would be awesome at an outdoor venue!

The warm up acts didn't match the groups genre but other than that and it being on a Monday, it was a great show. I would go again to see them next week.

Of Monsters & Men was absoluately amazing. Their sounds is just great, and they were better live than in recording. Amazing. State Theater is nice. I'd go there again. The wait was torture, though. I waited far longer than expected. The opening acts were unbelievably bad. It was a kind of cruel torture. I wish that I had arrived at 10pm, rather than 6pm. That' four hours of my life I'll never get back...

There were two opening acts, one of which i really enjoyed (elle king)! We ended up waiting quite a while even after the two long opening acts before the main band came out. I think they were having technical difficulties, but eventually they came out and it was immediately worth it. The band is fantastic live, and really know how to work the crowd, especially the drummer who is a beast and a half. The lead singer has a beautiful voice and they performed 8-10 songs, so basically their whole album. I would definitely go again because they are amazing.

Of Monsters and Men were great; Would highly recommend seeing them, as well as any show at the State Theater - great venue. The first warm up band was good -she was very entertaining. The second act we could have done without. That was the only drawback of the night - It was 3 hours before Of Monsters and Men came out. Otherwise, great show!

I grew up during the 80's, and lived a couple miles from The Saratoga Performing Arts Center in N.Y. Having never to pay for tickets, I observed countless shows. I can not remember one show that sounded this good acoustically, nor showed the musical variety this band did. Great show.

Lay Low and Of Monsters and Men are definitely two bands worth seeing again and again. They were ripped off for not making us pay for this performance. The sound guys miced it perfectly to where I thought both bands sounded better live than on the album (which was also amazing). It was indeed a magical performance, and all the instruments could be heard, from the trumpets to the heart thumping kick drum. I loved every second of this concert and can't wait for them to come back.

On April 14th those who were lucky enough to get into the Fillmore got to experience a bit of Icelandic music with OMaM and Lay Low. The show was great with excellent performances by both bands. In addition both bands made it out to their respective last song of the night to "jam". The venue is standing room only with some balcony seating, but overall it's a nice location with plenty of free parking options. There were some minor technical glitches with the sound engineer quickly attempting to resolve them but those issues didn't really distract from two great performances.

I was near the stage, about three rows back, and it was amazing! I didn't know the Of Monsters songs by heart, but the band made them easy-to-learn and engaged the crowd in all of their "la las" and "hey!"s. The crowd was great as well. You could tell that all of the band members are genuinely nice and fun in real life and that they all get along. They kept smiling at and singing to each other. They also played three songs for the encore.

Of Monsters and Men were absolutely amazing. It's not very often that you get the opportunity to see true artists these day. They actually sound better than their cd and you don't find that too often. The only thing I can say that was a downfall was that the show wasn't long enough!!!

Of Monsters and Men were incredible! Their songs sounded as good, if not better, live. They were entertaining and interactive with the crowd and just seemed to be having a great time! I would say the one drawback was that we saw the setlist and they didn't play the last sogn on the list, "Yellow Light". I wasn't all that upset since it's my least favorite song of theirs, but I was surprised when they didn't complete their setlist. Overall though, I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND you check this band out. They are just too much fun to miss!

I wasn't sure what to expect from a band that is new in the States and just released their album a few days earlier but I like Icelandic music in general and enjoyed the single that had been released so for $15 tickets, I figured it was worth a shot. I was soooo pleasantly surprised by how great the show was! Things I liked: 1. Everyone in the band seemed equal; there wasn't one person standing in front of everyone else. 2. The drummer was ridiculously energetic and awesome. 3. They used unique instruments such as an accordion and a trumpet. I really appreciate when performers are actually great musicians and not just singers/stage presence. 4. The energy of the show was well balanced; the faster songs were spaced well. 5. Their voices were just great! 6. They were gracious and the little commentary they offered was humble and charming.

Of Monsters and Men sounded so incredible live! It was like listening to an album. Would definetely see them again. My only problem with the show was that is was on a rain delay for 3 hours. Most people waited across the street at the convention center. While everyone was making their way back into the venue after the delay, the band started to play. Only about 1/4 of the people were back in the venue. We missed two songs, and I'm sure people missed a lot more songs than us. Other than that, the show was great!!

The Band was great. I was seated in the 3rd row so it was very close to the performers. I could hear the instruments very well but not the voices, which is a shame since Of monsters and Men had outstanding singers that harmonize so well. All the speakers were above us, maybe that is the reason for not hearing the voices. NExt time I may choose seats that are not as close.

the opener, JR JR was great. I only knew their one song, Gone. The rest of it was great. Immediately downloaded their album after the show. Of Monsters and Men, I was actually disappointed. In general, Of Monsters and Men have inspiring and great songs. Seeing and hearing them live only enhanced my experience with their music. Nanna had such a beautiful voice and I could sense her gracefulness as she sings. What a beautiful songstress I say. Ragna's voice was just as beautiful--very rich and mellow. Much needed life was breathed into this ungracefully aging venue in the heart of the inner city where life is not so good for many who call it home. Odd choice for a concert for this Icelandic band but they did not disappoint. In fact, they were truly amazing from start to finish. They had the crowd on its feet many times with their energetic style. 5 guitarists, 2 keyboardists, drummer and 2 horns provided all the rock and roll we could take. Unique sounds graced the night with vocals that were clear and concise. Not much bantering with the crowd as the band seemed uncomfortable engaging us. The lighting was annoying with strobes blinding you and obscuring the band at times. I just closed my eyes, clapped my hands, and stomped my feet. Hope they visit us again. AWESOME.

This concert was epic. Indie-rock or Folk-rock bands are the new age 80s rock. Of Monsters and Men have a larger enssamble and a thunderous stage presence. The drummer has a sprawling drum set, there are trombones, trumpets, chimes and keyboards. The main characters did their thing. Combine all that with the rolling fog, lights and stage theatrics, To get one amazing show.

Obviously if you enjoy a certain band or performer it's going to be a great time to see them up close. Of Monsters and Men was fantastic! Played for about an hour, and then had a 3 song encore. The opening acts however, were not so great. We thought the first one was bad, and then the second one came out. Not only was the sound really loud, but the second opener was literally screaming at times...not enjoyable. Another frustration was that there was at least 30-40 minutes in between each act. The show was scheduled to start at 7:30pm, which it did with the first opener, but each opener played for 20-30 minutes and Of Monsters and Men didn't come on until after 9:30pm. The time between acts seemed a bit ridiculous seeing as it wasn't used for set up, or time for the sound and stage crew or anything...

Of Monsters and Men (OMAM) capped off their brief three-week North American tour in support of their just released first album with a free show at the 2,000 person capacity Fillmore in Silver Spring, Maryland. The enthusiam and joy in the room between performers and audience was palpable, both knowing that OMAM is on its way to becoming something special and that such intimate settings may become less likely as OMAM climbs the charts. Highlights were the hit "Little Talks" and "King and Lionheart". Slower numbers showcased even more the beautiful voices of Ragnar and Byrndis. From one of the smallest countries on earth, OMAM is on its way to conquering the world!

Fantastic concert. Nice trading off of instruments, vocals, etc. between band members on different songs. Played pretty much all of their material. Happy that it was an all ages show, since I was able to attend with my daughter, her friend, and my wife, but it was largely a college crowd (as expected).

Amazing sound and show! Just very sad the show only lasted an hour after a rain delay!

The show was delayed by rain, so they had to cram the whole thing into a 1 hr show due to the noise ordinance in the city. The band played great and the light show worked well, there just wasn't much time for the band to interact with the audience and have time to play the music.

This was my second time seeing OMAM. The show was delayed due to heavy thunderstorms, so they ended up going on over an hour past the original show time; however, they gave a great show for the hour they were allowed to still play due to noise ordinances. The energy, vocals, unique lyrics, and folksy feel of OMAM is unlike any other band I have seen live. They have such an incredible, original flavor, you feel like you just melt into their music. I will always see them when they come to the US!

Had nice tickets with a pretty clear view of the set. People seemed to always be able to cut into "private sections" and once the concert started, the guards did not remove them. Makes my tickets seem pointless. Rain put the concert back and the staff kept us waiting outside the gate after they told us we could be let in. The concert itself was great, just the people made the experience not the best.

The opening act, Susto, was a country band that didn't really have any commonality with OMAM. They all looked rather disaffected by the entire fact that they were on stage, and of course the crowd wasn't really into them as a result. They could've at least looked like they were having fun. Then we had an hour delay for lightning in which time we were evacuated. We then had to leave early because of babysitter constraints. Overall, not great because of weather delays, and the sound was pretty bad.

Despite having to delay the concert for an hour because of storms this was by far one of the best concerts I've been to. Of Monsters and Men put on a great show and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves regardless of the rain. The place was full of energy. I was also directly in the pit directly in front of the lead singer so that made things even better.

Of Monsters and Men is my favorite band, and I've enjoyed viewing many of their performances! Though I didn't think I'd like SUSTO that much, they put on a great show as well, captivating the audience despite it being a different musical genre. The only thing that was disappointing was the rain, which was something that could not be avoided, but it ended SUSTO early and started OMAM late. I think 3-4 songs got cut out of the setlist because of rain and Raleigh's curfew, which was disappointing. However, this was not the band's fault and I enjoyed the concert and am excited to visit many more. Additionally, OMAM donated merchandise proceeds to a good cause.

The rain delayed the show by 2 hours, but Of Monsters and Men were incredible. They have energy and personality to spare. They really made the 1 hour we got to see them incredible

I waited 2 years for OMAM to come to the Raleigh area, and they did not disappoint. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate. The opening act was cut short by thunderstorms and OMAM was delayed 75 minutes. As a result, OMAM was only able to play for an hour, but what an hour! They were better live than I expected.

I traveled four hours to see OMAM in Raleigh, NC. The Red Hat Amphitheater was a very nice venue. A storm did cause us to be evacuated. The evacuation was very orderly and we were taken to a safe facility to ride out the storm. The show resumed and Of Monsters and Men performed most of their setlist. They were amazing! I highly recommend seeing them. If you like Coldplay, Imagine Dragons, or similar bands like these, you will love OMAM. They are a very talented bunch of musicians.
