It was hot out but the drinks were ice cold fans blew cold water everywhere you went. There were areas you could go to sit in relax in the shade, great music came from everywhere but did not overlap. The WYCD crew were fun and informative and it was Awesome that you could get a pit pass shirt allowing you the chance to win a sexy truck and get up close and personal with the main stage! It was all so much fun and I'm recommending it to everyone now!

The Detroit Hoedown was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The entire staff from the entrance through the whole day was polite and informative. The local bands and headliners were terrific.

The Hoedown was a disappointment this year, don't get me wrong the concerts were great but I upgraded and bought the $100 VIP passes for both Sat. and Sun., talk about a disappointment and waste of money....there was absolutely no "VIP" involved and that whole part was poorly ran both nights. I had to fight to hold my spot that I paid $100 for with people who went and picked up an orange t-shirt and was in the same area as my VIP pass

Asphalt intensifies the heat and reflects the sun up. Causing sunburn, sunstroke, heatstroke and doubles liqour effects. Too much of a carnival atmosphere. How much money does Illitch need??? $3 for half a slice of pizza, $10 for a beer? We used to get a room and stay for the weekend, why bother now? You can't leave. So instead of 3 days, we went for 6 hours. Why not use a hand stamp so people can go out and come back in? If they are going to continue to have it at Comerica, move it back to May so the heat doesn't kill. Although sitting inside the field was a relief, more shade areas are needed scattered throughout the grounds. Benches would of been a treat, so that one could sit down outside. Instead, everyone fought to sit on the little bit of grass under a row of trees.

I loved the new venue and the line up was top notch. We have skipped the Hoedown the past few years because of the over crowding and the riff raff that ruin a good event. We will be back

The artists were great and I loved that Kid Rock showed up on stage with Miranda Lambert. Beer was so expensive it just did not make sense to buy it. Water was at a good price especially since it was in the High 80's all three days. Trash was a major issue and it was every where which would make you think that they would have more trash cans and people to clear it out. Security was good but very unprofessional with customers and were rude or disrespectful when asking simple questions. 99.5 employees were rude too...especially if you called the stations to find out information about the concerts. You could not get a straight answer and then if you gave them your opinion they just laughed in your face about it. Website was not set up very well and they did not have any maps for people to print off or pick up upon entering. Sound quality was lacking too...if you were in the back you could not hear very well and if you were in the front you felt like you were suffocating. They need more speakers surrounding the main stage for better quality. If they want to do this again I recommend doing this somewhere else, lower prices, being better organized, more professional staff and trying to make the concert area a little more sanitary. BIGGEST COMPLAINT: NO RE-ENTRY - I found this to be disappointing and the fact that the concerts started at 2:00 PM, went 11:00 PM, and you could not leave and come back was ridiculous. This was just a sign that the production company, all the vendors and 99.5 want to just make money and did not care about the customers. I have been to a lot of events outside set up the same throughout my life both as part of the staff/crew and going as a fan and never had to worry about NO RE-ENTRY. This was just really disrespectful to the consumer and really made this event in a lot of ways not worth going again. If they do not want Re-Entry into the concert next year then just have it in Comerica Park. This was probably one of the worst events I have been to and most likely will not be back unless some major changes occur.

So this was the first year the hoedown was at comerica. The aritist line up was good. I honestly think the second night was the best. There should really be more advertisement about the need for vip passes for the front row for sundays headliner. Not really happy that i couldn't get to the front even in the orange shirt.

The hoedown was definitely better at Comerica! More space and better viewing. My only complaint is that there was way too much Marijuana. Security did a bad job. They only checked bags, and barely at that. All they did was have you open it and look in the main pockets.

Start with the good: love the lineup, and plenty of space. Having to pay for tickets kept out some riffraff. The bad: there was nowhere to sit down and rest, nothing to drink except Budweiser, soda, or lemonade. Need another vendor such as Mike's or Smirnoff.

This year's Hoedown was AMAZING!! I wish they would have charged for entry years ago. It made such a difference in the experience because the crowd mostly consisted of dedicated country fans and people who genuinely wanted to be there. The only thing I would have changed was the amount of interaction Dodge had with the attendees. I felt like this was a great opportunity to create some Ram Truck brand advocates. Way to go WYCD you're going to have a hard time topping this one!

I took my date, who loves country music, I thought $50 for 2 tix was reasonable. Found parking for $10, annoying, but normal. It was hot sunny, and I find beer for $8-$10 a pop, now I'm getting fed up. We arrived at 5;30PM, main acts start at 9PM. Now, with no re entry, we're stuck walking around parking lots, or inside Comerica Park for 5 hours. If we drank one beer/ hour it would set us back another $60, and we haven't even begun to eat. (carnival food being the main offering). We decided to cut our losses and get some real food and drink for far less than it would have cost to stay. If there were grassy areas to spread out and enjoy the music, it would have been OK. Otherwise, either I won't go again, or I'll tailgate somewhere, bring my own food/drink, and go in for main acts only.

I like the new location for the Hoedown this year, but i think there needed to be more seating available. Also, it would be nice if there was a variety of alcohol available instead of just beer & slushies, maybe some mikes hard lemonade for the non beer drinkers. Overall i liked that the event was entry by ticket only since it got rid of alot of the trash that used to fill hart plaza simply because it was a free event. I enjoyed being around people that were paying customers because they are real country music fans! I will definitely be attending next year!

I thoroughly enjoyed the hoedown this year. I liked that this year it was set in comerica park rather than heart plaza. I felt there was better crowd control and I was able to get closer to the stage. I loved that they also opened the ballpark up so when we needed a break we could sit in the stands to cool off and relax while still being able to listen to country music. Line up was amazing each night and kid rock's surprise performance was unforgettable!

This new location and charging for it reeeeally worked :) there were TONS of bathrooms and it was cleaner and waaaaay less people- maybe next year if its the sam ( charging and at copa) there can be stuff to do- like maybe open the ferris wheel and merry go round - since those that bought the day passes were "locked" in- i mean once they were in they couldnt exit the grounds, which would suck.

The event itself was great. The layout was great, 3 stages, plenty of room to see. If there was any downside it was that it was in Detroit, not a big fan of going downtown. But would do it again to go to the Hoedown.

I would honestly rather pay a little more and have seating in comerica. It is a really long day when you are on your feet for hours. I have been to other 3day concerts like the country concert in Ohio and they at least have a hill or seats that you can pay extra for. I sat on a curb and the same drunk guy fell on me twice. The performers were great and it was nice to feel safer on the comerica grounds....just poor set up for seating etc.

Personally the hoedown this year sucked. The new location is terrible. It was basically a carnival with country music. The vendors were terrible it was all carnival food. There was nithing special about the new location except everything is too spread out. Ive been going to the hoedown for years and hart plaza is beyond belief better. If next year is like this im sorry but I will not be attending!

I went Fri because I've been a CY fan for years! Got up pretty close but not like when I saw him at Cowboy Christmas in Vegas. I was about 20ft away! Anyway he deserves to headline his own concerts. He is so sexy and his voice just envelops you in warm caramel! He really was having a good time and so were we! I've never seen Dierks before and he sounded excellent. I would definetly see him again. The only issue I had was leaving the main stage area between Chris and Dierks there was only one narrow opening and everyone was trying to leave and enter at same time. Became a gridlock. Very scary and dangerous circumstance! After we finally got thru the sheriffs finally stepped in and made it I've way. Need more exits!!

The new venue for the Hoedown was fantastic! Lots of space to wonder around. Nice cool breeze being right on the river. The sound was awesome too. I do have a recommendation though. The location of the porta potties were far far away from the main stage. How about breaking those up a bit? Maybe 3 different locations? We also really appreciated there being a line up of Taxi cabs when we exited too. This was our 4th year in a row to the Hoedown and we will be back next year!!

This concert was filled with so many amazing artist. It was my first hoedown, but it won't be my last. I love that everyone was presented the opportunity to be in the Party Pit and get a free shirt along with it. I love that they were ahead of schedule both days. I love that it wasn't as chaotic as I anticipated. The location on the riverfront was spacious, and had surprising convenient parking. Rascal Flatts was surreal. Watching them live was like living in a dream. But, Brett Eldredge, OMG! I'd follow that man around the world to hear him sing to me. He sounded as flawlwess live as he does on records. And that raspy tone of his just makes me quiver from the inside out. The only things I didn't like were settling for an elephant ear when I wanted a funnel cake, the rain and mud on day one, and the handful of rude people who pushed their way to the front after devoted audience members had been holding down those spots for hours. I also wish I'd known which artists were coming out for meet and greet. Maybe next time, Brett. Overall, super fun and successful. I hope next year is just as jam packed with talent.

My daughter and I were looking so forward to seeing our favorite band of all time again Rascal Flatts. Thank goodness we didn't go earlier than what we did. We got there around 5pm. Mainly wanted to see Eli Young Band and Rascal Flatts. Both bands were good. Especially Rascal Flatts, but all the drunk people around us ruined it for us both. I can't believe there wasn't a cut off on how many beers someone can buy. I was embarassed how rude and downright nasty people can be when they have drank way too much. My daughter is 17 and was very upset over the actions of these people. Why do people even go to a concert when they just get down right drunk and I am sure don't remember much of the concert anyway. Doesn't make any sense to me. We will not attend another concert like that again. Not worth the time or money to be pushed around by drunks!! Very disappointed.

If chairs had been allowed, I believe it would have been a more friendly event. There 's no reason folding chairs could not have been brought in unless it would have taken more time to inspect at check in. Having said that, while you can't be responsible for who buys tickets to this event, the majority were young drunks who had no respect for social grace, which is why chairs were prohibited.

I've been attending Hoedown for the past few years now. Quite frankly, ever since the event has required people to pay for tickets it's gone down hill. It used to be 3 days of amazing bands, this year was two. Hart plaza is nice, has nice stage separation and if it rained, it didn't get mucky. This year it was an open field that I thought was too big and due to the weather was very mucky and wet no matter how much hay was thrown down. It also seems like the crowd just doesn't have as much fun at Hoedown as they used to, I know I don't...

Liked the Venue, HORRIBLE, horrible porta potties. Overflowing by Saturday afternoon. No toilet paper by Friday evening. Bands were terrific! Couldn't help the weather on Friday, but all and all, we had fun! Might want to consider building a "hill" similar to DTE. Food was not good, but we've given up on anything other than "carnival" food. Better choices of beers. Always a nice breeze blowing off the River. Other than the bathrooms this year, you have to figure out a way for us fans to go in and out of the venue. The last 3 years, we eat at other restaurants, spend money other places and most important, we don't get to see the bands earlier in the day because we will NOT stand for 8-10 hours. You really need to figure something out. We all missed an opportunity to see new talent! It's not rocket science, folks.

The entertainment was top notch and the event was very well organized. Kudos to the sponsors and organizers. The only thing I want to mention is that if you go to this event in the future, you need to remember that it is more of a mad party than a concert event. The crowd noise was way out of hand and the crowd was pretty much into rough partying and not paying attention to the entertainment. For much of the time people were so loud that you could not really heard the band playing and we were not that far from the stage.

As I said, constructive criticism. Reviews are supposed to help future plans. Please take my straightforwardness as such. =) I'd like to EXPLICITLY state that NOTHING below (with the exception of ticket price vs lineup) would deter me from seeing that show again! So: Ticket price vs lineup. At least Friday, great preformances all around! I'd pay to see that show over and over (see individual reviews below). 32 dollar tickets are okay with me. However, when you tack on 20 dollars in fees, it's NOT okay EVER. There needs to be a flat rate. Be straight forward with people. This single thing kept ALL but 1 of my 'country concert goer friends' from coming. Had there been, and/or it becomes, a lesser lineup and higher prices, you can count on myself and many others to be in that same boat. Don't milk the cow dry! The whole "grass under your feet" thing was the 'hot commodity' and it completely backfired. Lol Just saying, I feel like they over exemplified the fact, when weather is such an uncertainty. Personally, I don't mind mud, but I could see it made some people miserable. The 'less downtime' thing worked very well. Last year we sat around alot waiting for performances. However, you do need SOME downtime. People need SOME time to go to the bathroom, eat, get drinks, etc. I really disliked the Porta potties and Food being all the way in back. I understand the grocery store effect. It forces people to walk the venue more, check everything out, but it was a little much. The RAM experience ran 50x more smooth than last year!!! Pass it along, as they did very well. The venue, overall, was better than I expected (other than the topological/soil fertility issues) The view was pleasant and the size was PERFECT. Though I was jealous, the premium seating is a good idea. Perfect amount of premium seating without pushing everyone else back. Don't change this. The show itself was absolutely AMAZING!!! A Thousand Horses performed well, I was really impressed. On the second stage Austin Webb, did good. Locally, Two Timing Band was off the charts. They were much more in sync and fluid than the others. Brothers Osborne, just great artists ; period Brett Eldredge was very good, per usual. Darius did a good job engaging all democraphics by playing older and newer music of his, and covers. I had a blast. I hope to have a similar experience next year.

I attended the Hoedown on both Friday and Saturday nights. I was NOT impressed with the venue. The stage looked great, but flat land and rain do not mix. The hay was barely helpful. I don't understand how I had numbers on my tickets for General Admission also. I would have liked being up front but I was with 3 girls who do not drive so there was no sense in doing the challenge. Also, Darius Rucker was GREAT!!!! The crowd was AWFUL! Rude and barley clapping for performances. On Saturday, the crowd was much improved. The venue still needs improvement. I don't think having the bathrooms and food and beverage at the far end near the entrance is the best layout either. Also, regarding parking, I was happy in the lot next to Joe Louis, but the walk through the beggers was something I could have done without.

The stage was just not set up well for the musicians to really interact with the crowd. We had general admission tickets and didn't realize there was a section of seats in front of general admission. Kind of shitty but it is what it is. I like to go to concerts (especially outdoors and/or all day events) to be close enough to see the artist and be part of the crowd they interact with. I highly doubt I'll go back to this event next year. If I do I'll spend most of my time at the other 2 smaller stages where I can actually interact with the music and those playing it.....which honestly is just as fun and not a bad price.

Although it was a bit messy on Friday night. We had a great time. One suggestion would be to have the porta potties at both ends of the venue...the crowds and mud made it tough to go all the way down to the other end. Same with the food...maybe a hotdog vendor a little closer?? Drink were crazy expensive....even more than Ford Field and Comerica Park !! $10.00 for a beer after paying $60.00 for tickets to a once free event, was high. All the bands we saw were terrific. Eli Young band was the only one that sounded like the sound system was a bit hairy. Something was off. Rascal Flatts and Darius Rucker were fantastic.

Hoedown was great this year! the venue was easy to access with plenty of parking and the lineup was outstanding. Darius Rucker was my favorite along with Brett Eldredge! The only bad part about this set-up and why I gave it 4 stars was the bathrooms\u2026 there was only one area of bathrooms which was by the food on the other side from the stage, if there was more bathrooms, I would of given it 5 stars.

Venue was ok, I wish you could have brought chairs in. The sound was a challenge because of the wind. Overall for the money it was good

We had a GREAT time on Saturday, Friday was cold, wet, and muddy, but still a good time the reserved seats were kinda a disapointment, if you could not afford them then you were on the side of the stage,

The 2014 Detroit Hoedown was absolutely fantastic! Chris Young, Chase Rice, Jon Pardi, Dierks Bentley, Josh Thompson, Big & Rich and The Band Perry all sounded awesome and put on great performances for us. And, the weather was perfect all weekend!!

Music was awesome! Had a great time listening to music but had a horrible time with the lack of seating and transportation. My daughter has MS and has good and bad days. Heat makes the symptoms worse and it was hot! So she was already having a hard time walking/standing. There was no shuttle between the parking and the venue and almost no place to sit down once you got into the venue. We had to leave early the first day because she couldn't make it any longer. On day 2 security refused to let her bring in her fold up chair on (we thought that it would be OK because it wasn't listed on "items to not bring" and she had a special circumstance, but, nope, not allowed)--which I understand, to some extent, but if you aren't going to provide adequate seating, you should let people bring their own... Since there was no place available near the bands to sit down without risking getting stepped on, she spent the entire 2nd and 3rd days of the event hanging on to the railing around the handicapped area (which she didn't "qualify" for--she only has a card to indicate her diagnosis, not a driving placard, because she doesn't drive when the symptoms are bad) and had to practically be carried back to the car. Unfortunately, because she was so worn out, she ended up missing the headliners on every night. She did love the bands/singers she did get to see and would like to go again next year--hopefully by then there will be a better set up to get to and from the car and more places for everyone to be able to sit. Overall a great time.

Thank you WYCD for putting on another great Hoedown. Thank you for spotlighting local bands and artists inside Comerica. We especially loved Bullwhip. They put on a spectacular show. We hope they are back next year.

Forget the acts. This was the worst event I have been to in a long time. Two major complaints are no liquor (unless you call that disgusting moonshine liquor) and it is unbelievable to me that after paying to get in you cannot leave and come back in without buying another ticket. First and last time you will ever see me there.

I have been attending the Downtown Hoedown for many years...WHY did it move out of Hart Plaza??? Entertainment was great as usual, but I have no interest in going back to Comercia for this event. The fun of the free event at Hart Plaza was introducing non-country listeners to our beloved country music. Keep baseball at the park and charge a ridiculous ticket price...put the Hoedown back at Hart Plaza please!!

Everything was great. The only part I wasn't really happy with was having to wait in a line to get back in the pit. It felt like a punishment for having to use the rest room and/or getting something to eat if I was hungry.

Beautiful weekend with an awesome lineup! Sucks that beer was $10 a can but that can be expected at these events. Crowd was rowdy and it was fantastic :) Music was great, weather was warm but not too bad, and I'm looking forward to next year already!

The venue was nice and not as crowded, we enjoyed that Comerica Park was open so we could get out of the sun and use a real restroom. I think that needs to continue in the future events in that area, that was a huge addition. It does seem that the ticket prices keep going up and up . First it was free at HeartPlaza and then it went up to $5 or $10 to keep out the real non country people, now its at Comerica, Liked it on the river and the riverboat rides, is there a way to take it back to the riverfront and still have it safe?

the ram truck pit party needs to give out less shirts next year. also make ristbands for the people that have been to the party pit waiting all day. my suggestion is starting at four or five o clock in the afternoon give those people that get there around that time a ristband to continue to get in an out. no cut offf point for them. they like to drink and pee too during set changes and have friends and family up close to the stage waiting for them to get back with drink or just to be safe and togather during shows. thank u.

I haven't been the the Downtown Hoedown since it was at heart plaza. I really like the new set up at Comerica. It was cool that we could go into Comerica and see the ball field. The bands were awesome!!!! We came for The Band Perry. I would definitely love to go again but something has to be done about what I did not like and why I will not return. All the drunks! All the smoking! Groups of people smoking weed! This was a very upsetting experience for me. People pushing and shoving to get closer to see. Drunk people (mostly young kids & I'm 31 complaining about this) pushing, cussing, being just plain nasty & nasty dancing. There were families here with kids and this was not a kid friendly event. I like the new location but I miss where you used to be able to bring a lawn chair and enjoy the music. Maybe I'm old school but I really did not appreciate all the rudeness of those attending the event. I wont be back and that is disappointing to me.

I felt there was not enough to do for an entire day from 2-10:00 pm. I think you should be let out of the hoedown with a wristband so that you can enjoy other parts of Detroit. I felt like imprisoned, There was not enough food selection and I wanted to go out to get something to eat, and once you leave, you cannot get back in. Would have liked to take t-shirts and chips and water bottles and bobble heads to the car, rather than dragging them around all day. I also felt they needed more shaded seating. Possibly a tent with picnic tables or something. You had to sit along the curb if you wanted to get out of the sun for a bit. I wouldn't go back.

We went on Sunday night because we are big fans of The Band Perry and Big & Rich. The set up was cool because of the different stages and how there was always music playing. The worst part was the beer prices. $10 for a 16oz beer!! We don't even pay that much at the local professional sporting events. Had I known that I probably wouldnt have gotten there so early since the gates opened at 2pm and the bands we wanted to see didn't start until 8pm. Since they wouldn't let you go in and out that's a long time to be corralled up and forced to pay high concession prices.

Went to the WYCD Detroit Downtown Hoedown on Saturday with high expectations left disappointed. First of all the big headliner names were on Friday night and Sunday night not Saturday as expected. Secondly you had to sit in an hour or more line and go through a Ram test drive to get a VIP tee shrit. Now thats not too bad in itself, however after doing so we proceed to the VIP area for about 2 hours in the afternoon. When we go out to get a bite to eat and try to return quickly to the VIP area we are told that SECURITY has deemed no one else can get in that area.... TOO MANY PEOPLE!!!!!! We couldnt get back in!!!!! Thirdly .... No readmittance. Fourth there was no where to sit down, no shade anywhere except by th porta-potties.

My husband and I have gone for the last three years. We love the new venue, the location is great we stay at Greek Town, we have a nice dinner before, this time at Small plates. It always falls on our anniversary weekend which makes it even better. A few things to mention this year though. First the VIP tix were trying to be sold at 213.00! Crazy, I thought well... there goes a good time this year but I decided to check back on Ticket Master a couple of weeks before the event and they had the normal price VIP. It is well worth it as you get to be much closer to the stage and the crowds are not bad. Also, this year they decided to have "floating" beer stations and only 2 other places to get beer. It was a real pain to try finding one of those. What happened to the guys that would come right into the VIP and sell it? More than one hat seller would be nice as well.

30 minute beer lines, 10 minute bathroom lines, and everything is way too expensive. I miss heart plaza hoedowns a free community event with better view of the event and less people.I've tried the hoedown twice since its gone to Comerica park and both times I told my self never again.

I was very disappointed this year WYCD. You sold me VIP tickets and then gave just about everyone at the event a red t-shirt for test riding in a dodge truck and the t-shirt gave you access to the bullpin that is awful. WYCD should at the very least have a separate section for VIP ticket holders. Or maybe just change the free t-shirt color each day.

This was my 2nd time going since they started charging to get in. The line up was ok, but it has been better. There was not a lot to see like there was when it was at hart plaza. It's a lot of empty space and the beers are $10. We has to take a day off work to get the party pit shirts bc they only gave them out around 9-5 ( the average work day). But it was ok bc I like to be close to the stage. The first day was fine, then the 2nd day my friends husband left the pit to get her some food and they wouldn't let him back in bc they gave away too many shirts!! He has to wait for someone to leave before they would let him in. They made the shirts, they should regulate how many they give out!! My last complaint is there was little shade/ places to sit.

Such a great time! They had comerica park open so you could see inside the stadium and had a small stage inside with beer vendors and concessions. There was another bigger stage in the parking lot with more beer and food vendors. Then they had the main area with t-shirt sales, tons of food trucks and beer tents. It was a huge set up and had space for everyone without feeling extremely crowded. The music was fantastic and was easy to hear from anywhere in the lot!
