Quality song writing at it's best with this group and they can really rock out too! CMAC venue just got a nice upgrade this year and is better laid out for food, drinks, merch, etc. Upgraded bathrooms weren't finished yet but the new layout is clear and is a huge upgrade from previous years.

As good as it gets for live music! Opening act Charlie Crockett was really good, then an amazing set with Amanda Shires followed up by a tight, fun filled set by Jason Isbell and the awesome 400 Unit. The venue is great and and price was unheard of!

The band did not come on until late and played maybe 6 songs. While the band typically plays a very good show, especially at The National, this was not their best showing. The opening band's performance was longer than the actual band's performance. A little disappointing.

The crowd left after Langhorne Slim and I'm pretty sure it was because they had class the next day and/or were out after curfew. But the night peaked when Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit played. They jammed and kicked ass even though playing to a small crowd. They played most all of their stuff including DBT recordings. Seeing them live is a lot better than their CD.......A lot of bands can't perform live...but this band commits to a great show. I totally recommend seeing them if you get a chance!!!

The opening act, Brandi Carlile was outstanding as always. Wish they would have played longer. Sound mixing for Jason Isbell was terrible. Band so loud that vocals had to be cranked almost to distortion levels and still couldn't understand them. Songs with just Jason and his wife with maybe an instrument or two were by far the best.

Brandi Carlisle opened and did a fabulous job.... very engaging. Jason Isbell did songs that I really liked but didn't engage with the audience very much (like his song,Anxiety, perhaps?) and the songs were done just like they were on the album. I would have liked something more unique for a few of the songs, but they did sound good. I was very pleased that his wife,Amanda, was there to play and sing.

Jason is the best singer-songwriter touring today. His lyrics and guitar-ship are amazing and every single member of the 400 Unit are at or near the tops in their field. The end result is an amazing sonic musical experience. PNC Pavillon is an awesome summer venue with great acoustics, sightlines and seating.

Great show. One of the best that I've been to so far this year. Jason Isbell is one of the best song writers without question of this generation. A talent that I hope to see again soon and hope to see his wife ( Amanda Shires ) the next time also. A great talent in her own right. Hopefully the Unified Government will set aside some money in there budget to improve the Amphitheater. It has a long way to go in hopes of being compared to Starlight Theater, the potential is there but it's going to take some money. We had a great time regardless.

This was my first trip to the Gears and Guitars festival in Winston Salem! I was impressed with the setup for the music and also the food and beverage! All the music acts also sounded great especially for an outside event and temporary setup!

I went for the opening act, Richard Thompson. I've seen him a few times and was again amazed by his talent. But the Smart Center has way too convoluted parking scheme and there are way too many employees and, dear lord, the place is huge and impersonal. But that's just my opinion. Sitting in the balcony means not seeing the artist and that doesn't have to be the case.

Jason Isbell is one of my favorite artists, hands down. This was my second time seeing him put on a full show in the past 6 months & it did not disappoint! I live in Nashville, but lived in Huntsville for a few years, so I drove back down for the show & I am so glad I did! His sound was awesome & it offers something for everyone: the rock fan, the country fan, the singer-songwriter fan, & any other kind of fan imaginable. If you ever get the chance to see Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit, do yourself a favor & GO!

I have seen Jason Isbell & the 400 unit several times and each time is better than the last. I thoroughly enjoyed the set list although I wish they would have played Neil Young's Hurricane. I thoroughly enjoyed hearing about some of Jason's memories of the venue.

Jason Isbell and the 400 is one of the best live bands I have ever seen and heard. The show ranged from kick ass rock to very tender melodic songs. To see them live is an incredible experience. Closing with "American Girl" on the day Tom Petty's autopsy results were released was a nice touch.

Ok, Jason Isbell live is a great show. His voice is better live. He doesn't try too hard. The band rocks. He mixes slow and rowdy songs just right. Go see him. The Saenger is a cool venue. I wish the ushers had come back my way and shut down the frat party in the row behind me, but other than that it was awesome.

I wasn't sure what to expect from Isbell live. His CDs are a collection of heart wrenching songs with moving and unusual melodys. But kind of singer songwriter, which I like. A lot. Live, he amped that up about 50 times with a blistering band and right arrangements. The sound was awesome, he clearly loved the venue, and you could still make out his lyrics. I expected James Taylor and got Springsteen! What a night!!

Jason did two nights at the Chicago Theatre and it was two of the best shows I have ever seen, period. The sets were similar but varied just enough to make it seem like a totally different show. Great mix of songs off the newest album and other favorites from albums past. He sounds even better live - I can't wait to see him again.

Fantastic energy on stage. The songs on the new album are rock and roll really allow the crowd to get into it as well. Jason is from North Alabama and this was almost like playing a hometown crowd for him. He and his band were very relaxed and joking on stage. Amanda Shires opened and she was amazing-not to be missed for those attending upcoming shows

This was our 3rd time seeing Jason Isbell. He is one of the rare artists that sounds even better live than on the album. Always humble and charismatic. A truly gifted performer and songwriter. His backing band the 400 Unit are always amazing and talented as well. We have seen him with and without his wife Amanda Shires and when she is there with her fiddle and backing vocals Jason's performance is even more perfect!

Double headliner. First up Brandi Carlile - first time seeing her live - what a voice, what lyrics, what a performance - outstanding all round!! Then Jason - having seen him several times before, he didn t fail. Another fantastic concert with Amanda Shires and the 400 Unit - great musicians each of them. We made the journey from Scotland to NY State to see them & it was well worth the effort.

Jason's vocals were often unintelligible. The rest of the sound was fine. This was really disappointing!. Bradi Carlile's sound was much better and her vocals came in loud and clear.

First, I had not been to a show at the Lyric Opera House in too long a time. I had forgotten what a beautiful room it is. The sound was incredible. Do make the effort to visit. Now, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit continue to be one of the tightest bands. This night they were joined by the lovely Amanda Shires, for a little extra kick, and a couple tears. I have been fortunate over the past few years to listen to their shows on more than several occasions and they continue to turn in thrilling performances. Better and better. The guitar duel between Jason and Sadler Vaden on Never Gonna Change was scorching. Sadler consistently turns in steady second guitar work, with flashes of superstar guitarist thrown in. He's someone to watch for his own work, but his spot in this band should last forever.

Pros: - Awesome sound throughout the venue no matter where you sat. - Jason was awesome, from "Cover Me Up" to all of his new stuff. Cons: - No Photography, but may be because of the artist - Expensive for Nose Bleed Seats - Seating is super uncomfortable Even with the cons, still a 5 star night.

I'm a big fan of Jason Isbell and James McMurtry and it was amazing to see them both on the same stage. Jason Isbell's set and lighting were wonderful and added a new dimension. Both bands were cooking. It was nice to see McMurtry with his band and great to see Amanda Shires. If I had one complaint it would have to be the volume, especially Jason Isbell's set - it was deafening at first and hard on the ears. Not sure if it was intended or just a function of the sound system at the Lyric.

Opening act was good. Jason Isbell and the whole band was outstanding ! They played so many of our favorite songs, this is a band that should definitely be back at this venue. It was our first time to see the band and our first time at The Count Basie Theater. We were even totally surprised when one of the crew came up to us on the balcony and upgraded our seats to the front, 5th row !!!!!!!!!! we went to the show to celebrate my wife's birthday and she was thrilled !

The Count Basie Theater was lovely and the town had plenty of parking places nearby. We had balcony seats which were a little tight on the knees but vertically were excellent; I could have sat behind a 7-foot tall person and been able to see the stage just fine. We kind of wished we'd brought our binoculars to see their faces up close just for a minute or two. Acoustically the place was great; I'm no expert but we heard every word fine. Jason and the 400 Unit were amazing. As I'd hoped, they played a variety of older songs in addition to 8 of the 10 on the newest album. They played with energy and excitement. A great evening all the way around. Would return in a heartbeat.

What a night at the Count Basie Theater!! Nearly two-hour show. All the songs were great. Show was crisp. Sound was crystal clear. Six fantastic musicians on the stage. Thank you to Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit for coming to Jersey and playing Count Basie Theater. If there is a show to somehow buy the best seats you've ever had -- this is definitely one of them. Break open the piggy bank for ticket money.

James McMurtry was the first act and he was the terrific. We enjoyed him and his band. he warmed the house up for Jason Isbell who did not disappoint. Isbell was in a good mood and really got into delivering a great performance.

Jason Isbell was tremendous. I became a fan of his through satellite radio.This was my first opportunity to see him live and I am glad I did. It was also my first time at the Count Basie. I sat in the next to last row and I had a great view of the stage. The sound was perfectly clear. It is a nice theater where the staff is extremely helpful and friendly. They seem to be really proud of the venue.

I was fortunate to see Jason Isbell and the 400 unit recently at the beautiful Palace Theatre. The show was nothing short of extraordinary. Jason is one of the best songwriters of his generation, and seeing him perform with his very talented wife was really a special gift.

The Palace Theater was super easy to get to w/ convenient free event parking in a garage two blocks from the venue. Three very cool pubs/bars very in close proximity allowed me to check 'em all out before the show. The concert itself was excellent. My 2nd time seeing Jason Isbell - any music lover who respects song writing & live music must check these guys out.

I should start by saying Jason Isbell is one of my favorite artists and in my opinion, one of the best songwriters out there. He and the rest of the 400 Unit (Amanda, Sadler, Chad, Derry, and Jimbo) put on a great show that has them and you rocking from start to finish! The backing of the band and the live setting allow them to punch up some of the softer songs from his catalog and give them a new sound in the live setting. These guys are friends, and many of them have played with Jason for a long time, and this intimacy shows on stage where they're friends playing their favorite songs. This was my second time seeing this band and I can't wait for the next one! Do yourself a favor and become a fan of Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit!

Another great show took place at the Criterion on January 4th! James McMurtry opened the show with his band and fired up the audience with his timely and to the point songs. Jason and the 400 Unit then took the stage and performed most of the songs off their latest album," The Nashville Sound," along with many of their other favorites. Jason ended the night with an encore in which he and the band played an outstanding version of "Super 8." Anyone who has not seen Jason and the 400 Unit live should try to do so the next time they hit your area.

Isbell was my 5th show at Robinson in the last year. I did Don Henley, Alice Cooper, ZZ Top, and Tedeschi Trucks. My only complaint with Robinson is the lack of drinks. I mean.. can't we at least sell reasonably priced bottles of water out of an ice chest. I have cocktails before the show, but I'm not waiting in that long line.

At the newly renovated Robinson Performance Hall in Little Rock Sunday night, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit put on a terrific show. Touring in support of his 2017 album The Nashville Sound, Isbell and the four accompanying musicians in the band went through 18 songs in all . Eight of them came from their latest release, with highlights being "Last of My Kind" and "Cumberland Gap." Two songs from Isbell's time with the Drive-By Truckers, "Decoration Day" and ""Never Gonna Change," drew roars from the adoring sold out crowd. "Never Gonna Change" in concert became a incendiary masterpiece featuring great guitar work by Isbell. What drew my attention to Isbell at first glance was the spiffy pair of tennis shoes he wore for the show. The two song encore included a blistering version of Tom Petty's "Refugee." Isbell has stated publicly how Petty was a great influence on him in his formative stages as a singer-songwriter. He had performed a different Petty song each night back in December when he did a series of concerts at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. Isbell is truly an Americana superstar.

Amazing show. This was my second time to see them. Got to hear more of his library. Really enjoyed the show. Will definitely catch more of their shows. Highly recommended. He played Refugee, by Tom Petty. Doesn t get much better than that!

This is the second time I've seen him live, and I'll see him again the next time I can. Wife and I had a date night, and going to the Alabama Theatre is always a great experience. His opening act was not very entertaining, in my opinion. Jason was great, and the venue was great!

The venue was nearly perfect. We had great seats and a great view of the band. The staff was friendly and helpful. My only issue was the acoustics. It was a little off compared to other similar sized venues (like the Civic in NOLA). Overall, I would recommend the venue for concerts.

This is a concert you don't want to show up late for. Richard Thompson is the best opening act ever, and he was in the best voice I've ever heard him. If you aren't familiar with him, this is your chance to get an introduction to a guitar and songwriting legend. Just wish we could have had at least 10 more songs from him. And then Jason Isbell knocked it out of the park, each song just getting stronger and stronger. His band is tight, and Amanda Shires was there in full voice and fiddle. Isbell is the best songwriter in country music today, imho, and a heck of a performer as well. Great evening of music!
