I've been a fan of Welcome to Night Vale for years and this was my first time seeing them live, and I was blown away. Without a doubt this is one of their top episodes for me. Dessa opened the show with a surprisingly great musical performance, and once the radio show proper began the excitement was incredible, very enthusiastic audience, and I couldn't help but cheer and applaud too. You could really tell how hard they've worked on this one, all those voices coming together in person and acting out the show added something special that was great to see in person, the show was just very good stuff and you can bet on it I'll be buying the audio version when it releases at the end of the tour. I won't say anything about the episode itself but it hit all the points that a good episode of Night Vale does, it had some great laughs and some real hard-hitting bits too.
Took 4 teens to see this podcast. Average age in the theatre was probably 30, I would give the show a "PG" rating. Older kids definitely welcome. The girls had a blast! They loved Cecil, loved the special guests, and loved the atmosphere!
Any one who considers themselves a fan of Night Vale, Lovecraftian Horror or Librarians is doing themselves a disservice by not attending this event. Watching this recording was the best night out I've had in years.
Cecil Baldwin is an amazing live performer--I thought it would be weird actually seeing his face while he spoke, but that was not the case. The live show was both funnier and scarier than the podcasts, and I happened to luck out and be at a show where all of their planned guest voices could make it. It was Amazing.
The live podcast show was very fun. The only thing that I didn't care for was the extra music at the beginning. The music was nice, but I was really there to listen to Cecil Baldwin, the voice of the Nightvale Broadcast Podcast, for those who do not know.
This was the first Night Vale thing I was able to get to. It was amazing and probabley the best thing that I could have gotten to do this year I loved it 10/10 would see again.
Welcome to Nightvale was great live. Excellent pacing and amazing musical guest. I had never seen a live podcast before, it was very similar but with a musical opening act and additional cast to provide some variety. Very funny and smart show. If you like the podcast it is definitely worth going to see it live. I took my 10 year old son and he was completely enthralled.

The actual Nightvale portion of the show was good, the opening singer with ultra political views dampened my enthusiasm for the show. The Nightvale message was one of unity, while the singer's message was divisive. This is our second Nightvale show.

The live show was good. Lots of audience participation, lots of good creepy humor and a side to one of our favorite formless glowing characters we've never seen before. The musical opener was good, but she was performing without any backing instruments which made the songs a little empty sounding compared to the album versions. Overall I enjoyed the show, but I was expecting a story that was a little more engaging and special- don't get me wrong, I loved every minute of it, it just felt like a run-of-the-mill podcast episode, and could have been executed better, for $30 a ticket.

Go to a WTNV show if you can! You do not have to be caught up at all to understand the show, shoot, you don't even have to be a current listener of WTNV to attend! My daughter has been bugging me to listen to this podcast for years. When I saw they had a live show coming to town, I offered to buy her tickets and she insisted that I come with her. I listened to one podcast before I attended to just get a feel for it so I'd know what to expect. So, as a complete noob, with almost no knowledge of the show and setting, I was expecting to be lost in a sea of in-jokes and self-referential humor. Seeing dozens of "Super" fans dressed in costumes that made no sense to me only re-enforced the idea. However, the show was immediately accessible to me and completely immersive. I could have skipped the primer altogether and still been able to follow along with no problems at all. The cast was engaging, the story was entertaining and the presentation was high-energy. I'm looking forward to going through the hundred-odd episodes of the podcast and will definitely buy tickets next time a live show comes to town. Also, the fans were incredibly friendly and inclusive. We had a great conversation with everyone around us while waiting for the show to start and the conversation continued after the show as well.

Extremely pleased with my first experience at a Night Vale live show. I was a little apprehensive about the show, because there's a huge difference between listening to a podcast and seeing it played live, but the actors did a wonderful job and did not intrude on my image of the show's characters and events. My biggest complaint is that there was too much emphasis on the musical guest; Dessa was entertaining, but I wanted more focus on the actual Night Vale performance. Overall, it was a great time.

This was my first time going to a Night Vale show, or any show for a podcast. It was great!! I loved the running themes, jokes, and stories. Cecil's ghost story started out really creepy, but he wouldn't finish it in one go. The show kept cutting to other show segments and other stories. All great. I loved Tamika's ghost story and her response to Cecil's comment that it wasn't technically a ghost story. Every time we got back to Cecil's own story, it would change a little in tone. The final story turned out to be really sad and humanizing. I won't spoil how, but yay fantastic character development and masterful control of story tone. Hugs for everyone. Definite recommend.

Welcome to Night Vale live was such an incredible experience. This live show was easily, hands-down their best yet, and if I had the opportunity, I would see it at least twice more. Not only was the story itself beautiful, hilarious, heartbreaking, and strange, but the actors were so incredible at bringing these lovable characters and this fantastic script to life! A lot of praise should definitely be awarded to narrator, Cecil Baldwin. The man really knows how to control an audience. His voice is hypnotizing and his acting... Wow. The raw emotion he adds to this role is so spot on, there wasn't a dry eye in the house by the end of the night. If you have the opportunity to see Night Vale live, GO SEE IT! It's a unique theater experience that fans of the podcast and new people will enjoy immensely.

It's a whole other level of hilarity actually SEEING AND HEARING it at the same time. Thank God for Depends. Every single actor and character was at their best in this Ghost Stories tour. Meg Bashwiner was a stand alone just doing the theater rules! Cecil's still my fav! Run don't walk to see this show!

Had a great time with a bunch of friends. We have been listening to the PodCast for years and finally were able to make it to a live show. We splurged a bit and paid for access to the Telegraph room and it was totally worth it. The seating was better then our floor seats and add in a private bathroom and a Bar that can provide you with a great Moscow Mule...all in all it was a great time. Cant wait to do this again next year.

The audio had some more than insignificant problems (and for a live 'radio show' that they have done already in 8 other cities, a bad thing)- the background music drowned out Cecil during transitions, about 1/4 of the entire show length? But I would see it again.

My daughter is a Welcome to Night Vale fan, and this is the second show we've been to. I liked this one at the Orpheum better than last year's show at the Warner Grand, although that one was good as well. The Orpheum venue was impressive. Cecil was excellent, as always. All the characters were entertaining. I particularly enjoyed the scenes with Earl Harlan and Tamika Flynn. The opening act/Weather performer, Erin McKeown was very good too. She has some interesting original songs.

So, first of all, this show was frigging amazing. The crowd, the cosplay, the performers, the venue...this was a fabulous and unforgettable night, full of laughter and tears and silent terror, everything you might hope for out of Night Vale. Just one note for anyone attending. More than any other show I've ever been at, TURN OFF YOUR CELL PHONE. Silence is a character in this show, and if you step on her lines, the crowd will turn on you like a pack of plastic bags. And justly so.

We traveled from Buffalo to Toronto, looking forward to another great time with the WTNV performers. The musician for "the Weather" had a beautiful voice and we enjoyed that, and the performers were totally "on" and entertaining (OMG Carlos.. wow!). But... We didn't expect this to be THE SAME SHOW they performed in Buffalo back in April or May. If we knew it was the same show, we would not have gone to experience it again, as part of the magic of this particular one is experiencing the unknown.

Incredible performance. Each actor was fun and engaging, the live music was outstanding and seamlessly integrated into the script, and musical guest Dessa was PHENOMENAL. Any Night Vale fan will absolutely love this show, but we also had someone with us who had only heard a couple episodes, and still greatly enjoyed the show even without knowing a lot of the secondary characters/plots. It stands on its own pretty well without in-depth knowledge of the podcast. The price was good too, about $30 a person, less than what I would have expected for something so popular. Great time!!

In my experience, seeing the way Cecil performs as Cecil, how Dylan performs as Carlos, and the way the writing works out in a responsive setting, Night Vale becomes almost whimsical. The dark humor and weirdness that we all know becomes charming-in its own crazy kind of way. I know you can hear the vocal response to the audience in the podcast, but the way the actors move and the way their facial expressions change in response to events of the story completely changes it to something even more wonderful

Welcome to Night Vale is a twice monthly podcast that airs the radio show of a small, friendly, desert community. It's writers, Joseph Fink and Jeffrey Cranor, do a remarkable job at conveying emotions, and making each listener feel as if they're not listening to the fictional news of a fictional town, but the scary, unknown truth of their own lives. The two year anniversary show was nothing short of remarkable, it was everything i could have ever hoped for in a show. [SPOILER WARNING]: Strex was defeated, we got our new Mayor, we dislike Steve Carlsberg a *little* less, he's okay, not great, but okay, you know. We're finished being the Desert Bluffs Greater Metropolitan Area, and back to being the friendly desert community of Night Vale. While the show was able to give us closure for some events and solve old conflicts, new ones arise. This show left me on the edge of my seat, eager to find out the next news with the perfect, beautiful Carlos, and the future of Night Vale. Time will tell (if you believe in things like time and action). Everything this cast and these writers do make me love WTNV even more than I already had, and I never think its possible to love it more until I already do. I can't wait for future episodes, as well as next years anniversary show.

The show met and exceeded expectations. Nightvale successfully manifested in the theather, bringing along all the usual favorites. Getting to see my favorite Night Vale characters live was amazing! I love the podcast and the characters, so the ability to see their faces and interactions in addition to hearing the voices I know and love was an extra layer of awesome! The Neptune is a gorgeous venue and I have been to one other show there, that had been a mostly "standing room only" type event- it was very fun to see how the Neptune accommodated a seated show and its flexibility for both types of event! The crowd of a WTNV show is just as eclectic, diverse, and wonderful as the cast so if you have the chance to see them, I highly recommend it!

I had a lot of fun. It was entertaining and interesting. It was definitely a good way to spend about an hour.
This is my third time seeing a Night Vale live show and I have to say it never disappoints. The entire cast was just a gem and their guest musician Mal Blum was incredible. The story got the entire audience involved and it was just an energetic, weird, wacky atmosphere that drew you right into the story. This was also the first time they have ever done at show at The Van Buren, and it was my first time seeing the interior. It is stunning! Great venue; very laid back feel, kind of a mix of retro-industrial with some Roaring 20s feel at the bar. It's just the right size too. All in all, it was a fantastic show and one that I highly recommend to anyone who loves immersing themselves in strange, weird, beautiful stories.
This show was incredibly fun and entertaining. The cast successfully navigated the transition from podcast to live performance in a way that draws from the strengths of both media.
I am not a Welcome to Nightvale fan, but my daughter is. Don't get me wrong, I like it, but I'm just not invested in it. I got tickets for her and I to see the show. Then another friend of mine expressed interest, so I got tickets for her & her son. We all had a great time! I really enjoyed the music by Eliza Rickman. She was great. When people ask me to describe WTN- I often say it's like Lake Wobegon meets the Twilight Zone. It's fun and the All Hail the Glowcloud message was especially good & definitely needed these days!
this was my second time seeing WTNV live and would definitely recommend seeing the show live. The atmosphere of being around other fans of the show, everything about Cecil, getting to see other characters, live music by Disparition and the weather by Erin McKeown,..I left so happy.
I saw Ghost Stories last year, and it's never been more clear that the Welcome to Night Vale creators are constantly growing and learning and improving upon their already stunning and unique content. The chemistry between all the cast members was fun and dynamic, and Cecil Baldwin's stage presence is unparalleled. All Hail was everything I hoped it would be: funny and thought-provoking, inclusive and original, beautiful music throughout. I left the show teary-eyed with an overwhelming feeling that everything would be okay. Welcome to Night Vale as a show and as a company are so inspiring, and I'm very proud to be in a community where "weird" is a dog park that is a portal to another dimension and not two men being in a relationship or a woman being the mayor, and in a community where creative pursuits are praised and we're encouraged to work hard to make our dreams and ideas a reality. All Hail perfectly expressed these values in a fun and weird way, and I would expect nothing less from Welcome to Night Vale.

I was so excited to see them play in Columbus again. The seating is excellent, even for a bigger person like myself. The parking is so-so, it's easier to park at the statehouse for five dollars than to try and find parking downtown. The sound technicians had the sound up way too high, but it was a magnificent night filled with interactions with the cast and my fellow seatmates even if I didn't know them. Being able to see them in person was the best part of the night, to be honest. And the merch was fairly priced, about five dollars cheaper than the topatco store online. Unfortunately, due to the way the venue was structured, there wasn't a signing like there was the last time they were in town, which made me feel sad as I really wanted my poster signed like last time. But at least I got to see them live, and see Disparition live.

From the fans who dressed up like characters to the weather forecast - it was all I hoped it would be. Get there early if you want merchandise, as looks like the products went quick. The performances were many of my favorite characters. They asked that we don't give anything away, but if you are fan of the podcast you will be happy you went.
It was a throwback from the days before television when every person was glued to the radio to here ghost stories and sitcoms. My teenage daughters love it and it was entertaining for her and myself. We laughed and dress up and had fun. So yes I liked it.
I love everything about a Welcome to Night Vale live show and seeing it at the Aztec makes it even better. The setting, the story, its always worth it!
I went to see their previous show twice - I loved the first showing so much, that when they came closer I brought more friends. I'm a big Nightvale fan since the beginning. I got front row seats to this show, Ghost Stories. It's a far more serious show than normal, and while it has comedic bits, there aren't as many. I may be mistaken, but the show felt shorter than previous shows as well. I think the script was well written, but it was kind of a departure from their usual fare, and not what I was looking for. Oh well.
Ghost Stories was a scary, funny, and thoughtful. Cecil emoted for the audience excellently, telling his story with his voice and his body language. The weather was amazing, and the singer even invited the audience to join in on the chorus of one of the introduction songs.
It was a wonderful experience getting to see Welcome to Night Vale live. It was interesting to see how everything is done. Also they picked a great singer to be the Weather and opening act. Overall a great time.
I have been listening to Welcome to Night Vale since the first year and seeing them live has been a dream of mine! Getting to see Cecil and the crew was everything I hoped it would be, even better actually. The show, "Ghost Stories," was funny, chilling, and honestly, quite moving in a pretty raw way. If you have an opportunity to see them Welcome to Night Vale, take it. I had to drive 7+ hours to do it, but it was worth every minute. c: Btw: Give Erin McKeown a listen. You won't regret it.

The entire show was a hit, the only complaint I could think of would be the placement of the sales table so close to the exit. That made figuring out a line and a way out without standing in s line difficult, but I also didn't really see a better place to set up. 5/5 would and have recommended

I'm a new fan to Night Vale and it was so worth the 3 hour drive from out of state to go see it. I love this whole cast. Some really deep moments and lots of laughter. Danny and Carrie are my favorite "weather team."

...you will really, really like them in person. They know how to turn a pod cast into an interactive in person experience.

Disappointed not to see the faceless old woman and Carlos and Dana, but still a really good show. Everyone did well and Cecil was amazing. His chemistry with Steve Carlsburg was hilarious and I'd definitely go again. Keep up the great work Welcome to Night Vale!

Welcome to Night Vale is a serialized podcast telling the story of a weird town called Night Vale, where every conspiracy theory is true. For this show, Ghost Stories, the government has mandated that everyone in Night Vale must publicly share a ghost story. A few of the regular guests on the podcast pop in and share their stories, as does host Cecil Palmer (played by Cecil Baldwin). The live show is very true to the podcast roots, with some fan interaction and musical appearances. All in all, it was well worth the money I spent.

This was such a fun event! "Ghost Stories" is one of Night Vale's best live shows. It was a little bit spooky, a little bit fun, a lot of weird. The venue is nice, with parking and hotels close by. It's right next to the high museum. The guests on the show were super fun, but the music guest was just ok. They weren't bad, just ok.

Welcome to Nightvale is a fantastic Podcast that has brought itself to the live stage several times now. The cast always seems so lively and into their work, providing the audience with an active and cheerful performance, even as the story grows darker. This show was fantastically well done, excellent live musical accompaniment, a beautiful story and exceptional actors bringing it to life.

I expected to laugh, and I did. I expected to be scared, and I was. I didn't expect to cry at one of the most poignant monologues I've ever heard. I didn't expect to discover new music that I love. I didn't expect that this would be one of my best theater experiences ever. But it was, and I wish I could go back five more times.

I mean, is there a doubt that this show would be good? If you're a Night Vale fan, of course not. However, I did convince a friend to go with me who'd never listened to the podcast and while some things didn't have the same context for her as they did me, she LOVED the show and that lack of context was not an issue. Great guests, a great story, great music; I just adore these shows.

This was a wonderful show. The story was great and original, perfect for any Night Vale fan. The Weather were wonderful singers, while not being my particular taste, they both had amazing voices and original songs. Definitely check this out. Our seats were in the middle of the theater on the balcony. They were a little far away from the stage, anyone with vision problems would want to consider sitting closer.
