Clutch

Maryland-bred rockers Clutch have been a  hot ticket on the tour circuit and a mainstay on the rock radio airwaves for well over a decade. That streak continued in 2013 with the release of a well-received new album titled Earth Rocker, which topped Billboard's Top Hard Rock Albums chart, and plenty of concert dates. The group's consistency even extends to its lineup, which features three members -- Neil Fallon (vocals, keyboards), Tim Sult (lead guitar), Dan Maines (bass), and Jean-Paul Gaster (drums) -- who have been in the group since it formed in 1991.Clutch released their debut album, 1993's Transnation Speedway League, after landing a deal with EastWest Records, largely thanks to their reputation as a strong concert act.

Ok. First I was froze inside. Had a fan above me blowing cool air on me the whole time. Otherwise it was good. Not a big fan of the first 3 bands but hey, that's how it goes sometimes! Can't wait to see Clutch again!

This was the 2nd time I've seen Clutch. Great performers and amazingly talented musicians. Lionize, one of the opening bands, were also amazing. They featured Tim Sult, the guitarist from Clutch.

Clutch began the set with several "old school" randitions of records past. The band has stripped down back to their foursome beginings. No more key board; no more harmonica. CLUTCH played for an hour and a 1/2 and afforded the crowd one curtain call. Over all performance was above average but not the best CLUTCH show that I have seen. I believe Neil Fallon, lead singer, might of had a sore throat or "cold"; he kept drinking water and looked like he was taking throat losanges from his roadie. With that said, his voice was strong, however this being my 7th CLUTCH show, I could tell that he wa n ot there as strong as shows past. I enjoyed the second opening act, they were solid. The first act was a bit un-polished and a little bit over-the-top cheesy by some standards (i hear people in the crawd talking). I though they were at least sme-what entertaining and seemed to enjoy what they do.

This concert was by far the greatest I have seen to date! It was my first time seeing Clutch and it was better than I imagined! I truly enjoyed how they played older songs as well as newer ones; not just focusing on one or the other. The prices at the venue were reasonable, and the merchandise was kick ass! I enjoyed the overall environment and enthusiasm that could be felt by the crowd. Even the opening bands were amazing! Clutch has an unmatchable energy that gets the audience pumped (at least I was!). Incredible show, absolutely incredible! A must see for anyone who likes to rock!

Clutch is always great but especially great on the 12th of July. The mood was good, the music was great, and the first opening band was fantastic and ecelectic. Great show guys, but Pops need to turn on the air conditioning when Clutch takes the stage. It was friggin hot!

Went and seen Clutch at Pops and the show was awesome. First opening act was also very good second opening act had good music but was lyrically and vocally awful, Good be a good band but need to invest in new singer and lyrics. Clutch was well worth the wait and would recommend that everyone should invest in their new cd, Strange Cousins From the West, coming out Tues, July 14, 2009. Awesome cd. Pops is a small and intimate setting with general admission and so everyseat is awesome, but it is hot once everyone gets moving around. Awesome show and an Awesome time. Clutch rocks.

As always, the almighty Clutch rocked the house for an hour and a half straight. They played 4 tracks off of their new album and played fan favorites from almost every album in their discography. Openers Lionize and Baroness also rocked which helped make this one of my top 3 favorite concerts.

Fantastic show! One of the best live shows I have seen, I would recommend this band to anyone who enjoys any kind of rock. The energy the band gave off, coupled with audience feedback, was phenomenal! I guarantee that the next time Clutch rolls through St. Louis I will be there, along with everyone I can think of to convince to go as well!

This was the 12th time I've seen Clutch live and they never fail to put on a great show. They are terrific musicians playing great songs. Neil Fallon brings a level of intensity to the stage that really enhances the whole bands performance. Being at a Clutch show is a lot like being at a party with your best friends. Everyone had a great time and can't wait to do it again. Clutch's performance was fantastic. They did a great job of mixing their classic songs with some new ones and kept everyone fully interested. Great show. The opening band was supposed to be Monster Magnet, which would have been great, but instead Shadow's Fall opened. Not exactly my style, but they were a good band. Lots of hair! Wino also played, but we missed their whole set.

Great, they played some new stuff off their upcoming album. They also played some stuff off their early albums. They really got the crowd working and there was a steady mosh pit the whole night. I really liked that Shadows Fall opened for them even though most of the people there did not seem too enthused about shadows Fall.

This was an awesome show at an awesome venue. The show was at The House of Blues, that was connected to The Show Boat casino. The venue was beautiful the band sounded superb. They played some old stuff, some new stuff but the kickers were the Guitarists that came out to work along side these long time rockers. the first of the nite was long time Clutch right hand man "OOZIE" (he shreds along side TIM). then later they bring out the opening bands (Super Rockin) guitarist "Wino" in which they proceeded to tear up some older gems. This band has a stage aura and connectivity with the crowd you find in very few live acts. Hats off to some GREAT Maryland Rockers who know how to rock a crows A?? off when the ages of the fans are from 8 to 58, it was the most diverse crowd of rockers i may have ever seen (and check out clutch's merch booth).

Clutch was amazing, as usual. The venue was beautiful, and well run. The staff was profesional and the stage show was run on time, down to the minute. Everything was expensive ($9 shots, $7 beers) but it's Atlantic City, so that is to be expected. It was just so darn far away from us NYC people.

I'd not been to the House of Blues before and was excited about going there and off the charts excited about seeing Clutch. The venue is awesome, even the seating upstairs (though I was right up front on the floor). It was small, sounded good and offered beer.... :) Clutch....OMG!!! They flat out rocked for about two hours! The energy was phenomenal. The crowd was great. Not an *sshole around as far as I could figure. Everyone was happy and excited and rocking out. I went expecting Clutch to rock (duh), which they did. I did not expect the energy to be so amazing. Seriously, this was probably one of the best - top two - shows I've been to (and I've been to a ton of shows). I had an incredible time and will not miss them when they come again. Thank you, Clutch! Really enjoyed all 3 bands, Lionize, Prong and Clutch. Lionize vocalist has an amazing voice. Prong was a little harder than what I expected. I had heard the song Snap your fingers, snap your neck before but it was awesome performed live. The drummer played his heart out, I thought he was gonna shake the building down. This was my first Clutch concert and I was blown away. I love their recorded music, but seeing them live and on stage is so much better. If you like Clutch go see them in concert, you wont regret it. If you go see them at the Vogue get in line early so you can get good seats. Also if the show is in the summer dress light cause the AC sucks.

I saw Clutch for my seventh or so time at the State Theater in Portland Maine on Wednesday, December 28th, 2011. It was the best Clutch show that I have ever seen. They played songs from all of their later albums and a few from one to be released. The new ones really sounded great. It was my first time to the State Theater and what an amazing place. I took my wife for her first Clutch concert so I had to be more reserved so we sat in the balcony. I don't think that there is a bad seat in the house. Amazing Venue. I'm looking forward to returning in January for the Machine Head concert!

Groundscore: Not bad at all. A reggae rock hybrid trio of sorts. Better at the more laid-back selections than when they attempted to play hard and fast. These guys are worth keeping an eye on. Maylene & etc.: Who the hell is Maylene in this all guy band?!? Yeah, some technicality exsists in this hard driving five man band. The problem is these guys want to be rock stars so bad they end up trying a little too hard. I respect anyone who plays before Clutch, so some constructive criticism would be to focus more on the music than your hair or the holes in your jeans. Seriously, they do have potential. But guys, get the music right first, then worry about how cool you look. Now as for Clutch... they played a rippin killer non-stop set of many of their classics. They possess that intangible something that separates decent garage bands from the true professional muscians... which they are in spades. I only wished at the end of the show they'd have taken a break, then come back for another hour! Live music doesn't get any better than seeing a Clutch show from the rail. Worth all the effort, and every penny to see them perform. PS: These guys never make a mistake. It's utterly amazing.

Clutch always rocks de house with Tim's ASTOUNDING guitar power, JP's drumming PERFECTION, Dan's AMAZING bass presence with every song, and Neil's UNSTOPPABLE showmanship- PREACHER MAN THAT ROCKS!- - this show was no exception, EXCEPT The National didn't quite have their act together with the sound this time - we had to leave the rail to find a place where we could capture the whole effect and power of CLUTCH, but never quite found it - oh, well, this was our 6th show in a year, so I'm satisfied. Kylesa left a lot to be desired, but Righteous Fool was awesome, as they were at the Norva in June - love these guys!

Another awesome show at the House of Blues. I've now seen 5 or 6 concerts there and it's quickly becoming one of my favorite venues. There's really not any bad spots in the place to watch the show and the sound was great as it has been. As far as the show itself, it was a great night. Boston local's Never Got Caught opened things up, and while they weren't really my thing, they were a solid opening act and put on a good performance. Following them was Lionize, who feature Clutch guitarist Tim Sult. They had a lot of groove and brought a laid-back vibe to a good performance. Again, solid show openers. Next came the band I was really excited for, Boston's Doomriders. Having seen Nate Newton with his full time band Converge several times, I was excited to see what kind of performance his punk rock influenced side project would put on. I must say I was not disappointed one bit. The band tore through a great set mixing their two full-length CD's and played my personal favorite song, Black Thunder. Just an awesome set. Last but not least, the mighty Clutch came on. Having only seen them perform at the significantly smaller Toad's Place in New Haven before, it was definitely surprising to see the sheer amount people that were there for the show, and I was glad because they are definitely a band that deserve it. Opening their set with a handful of songs of their new record, Strange Cousins From The West, the band put on a super tight performance of the new material before kicking into the real treat of the night, the performance of their entire self-titled album. Hearing fresh performances of the songs coming from a CD that's nearly 15 years old now was a really cool experience, and one that frankly not many bands would have the guts to try. Finally, the band closed with Aglo Ha Cambiado, Sleestack Lighting and an awesome rendition of Gravel Road that capped a great night. Clutch are true professionals and it was another excellent concert from them.

As usual! CLUTCH never let's the fans down! They are the most crowd pleasing band you could ever see these days! From their awesomely energetic performance to their long ass set in which they play many songs from throughout their entire existance! These guys are magnificintly talented musicians who just love to jam, music and performance is what they are about! I do recommend seeing them in a smaller venue! One where you can focus more upon each musician! The Electric Factory's stage is way too high! It seemed Jean Claude, their drummer was way too far away! He is a very majestic drummer who really needs to be seen close up! The sound was awsome! Once you see a CLUTCH show...U will never wanna miss one again!

This is probably the 5th Clutch show I've attended and by far - the most fun I've ever had at one. The sound rang through my ears just as it should. Everyone around me was feeling the good groove. I was close enough for my abnoxious screams of support to be heard by the bands - enough to even get a response! I don't recall the name of the first band to go on stage but they were rockin' it up! The second band, Lion Ice (?), was this absolutely amazing rock / funk / reggae act that impressed me to the point of an album purchase. Clutch came out and blew our hair back as I held on for dear life to the front stage baracade getting squished by the sea of rock induced chaos behind me. I loved every minute of it.

Clutch rocked as usual. I can't pinpoint what part sucked about the venue. Was it the opening act that was an acoustic one man show that slowed the pace, or the stupid "medic alert" in the middle of Maylene and the Sons of Destruction show that stopped music for the better part of an hour or the long wait before Clutch came on after that. But for some reason the crowd was there for the first half of the show. Then the people went to sleep. the poor manager was begging the crowd to make noise for an encore. Eventually the boys resumed for one song. Clearly they wen't enthused by the atmosphere either. Columbia owes Clutch an apology, because they rocked and put forth their best!

Why was it colder in the venue than it was outside? Ive never been to an indoor show where everyone was wearing a heavy winter coat. I left my hat and gloves in my car, which was a huge mistake. I drank 5 of the biggest beers they sold and had a couple shots and not even that couldnt warm me up. If they could have a decent temperature the venue would almost perfect.

Six of us went to Express Live to see Clutch. Three fathers and three sons, two of the youngsters are only 14 years old, so the "all ages" was appreciated. Clutch was awesome as always. Love seeing them at the Center Stage, and the opening acts (Torche, Lionize) are always excellent as well.

One of the best bands with a live show. Opening bands were very good and got everyone pumped and ready for Clutch. I had not see Clutch in over 16 years and they did not miss a beat. The energy was flowing from the stage to the crowd.

CLUTCH is one of the most energized rocking shows you could experience. Very diverse in their ever changing style of music creation. Seen many times and never ever let down. Always a lengthy show of great sounding music. Very talented musicians/performers! ...And the venue...Sherman theater was perfect size wise. You had a perfect view of the show from anywhere. Security was very nice in my opinion and trust me...if the security sucked I'd be the one to tell you. Well definitely revisit Sherman Theater. Btw...the place is much bigger than it looks on the outside.

Third time I saw Clutch this year, amazing band live. Sherman was a nice size for the venue, however the acoustics were better at electric factory. Great band live, complete sausage fest every time I see them which is awesome since I'm a chick !

The show that I went to had Clutch as the headliner, and 3 openers (The Sword, Lionize, and Never Got Caught). This show was absolutely amazing. Never Got Caught was a local act, they had a pretty cool sound going on, I especially enjoyed the last song that they played. I had checked out Lionize before-hand, and enjoyed their stuff. But they were a lot better live, their energy really translates well on stage, awesome. I've been a fan of The Sword for years, and I have to say that they are much better live than on the CD, amazing performance. I loved that they played "Tres Brujas", "Apocryphon", and "Freya". And finally, Clutch. They played every single one of my favorite tracks, they supported their new album "Earth Rocker" which was great, but I really loved that they played some stuff from Elephant Riders, Blast Tyrant, and their 1995 self titled album. I got really excited when Neil said "We're going to play some songs from the Clinton administration." They really delivered a great setlist, and were absolutely amazing live. Neil's voice sounded absolutely incredible, and the instrumentals were perfect. GO SEE THEM!

Great show - 2nd time seeing them on the Earth Rocker tour. Very tight performances, great sound and lighting. Terminal 5 offers great viewing to see bands play, this show was no different.

This was my first concert of theirs and after this, I plan on never missing them. Their live show was amazing. No difference between live and record. The momentum of the show never lost it even when there was a technical glitch. I would like to add the Fallon sang to the audience not just standing there with robotic gestures; allowing us to feel and see the passion in their songs. Bravo.

These guys are simply amazing. So incredibly talented it's unreal. If you want a band that sounds even better than the CD - Clutch is where it's at. If you're not a huge fan but just like one or two songs...do yourself the favor to go see them in concert. Seeing them live will change you. Long live Clutch!! \\m/

I'd go see this band anywhere anytime... They were just as good now as they were 14 years ago when I saw them the first time... AWESOME show...AWESOME set list...crowd sucked though...People started leaving before the encore and they didn't make much noise...lazy crowd didn't deserve an encore...especially one that good!(animal farm & pure rock fury)

I can't believe for as much as Clutch plays in Michigan that this was my first time seeing them. Clearly I've been missing out!!! What an incredible band they are! Talk about a band sounding just like their CD...I mean they are FLAWLESS! Neil is a god...he's such an amazing front man...he's like a preacher up there! Never again will I miss them. If they come here 4 times...I'll be there all 4!

First time seeing Clutch. They played a lot of their newer stuff, but it was all awesome live. This band is definitely better live than on record! I have been listening for many years, but seems something is always up when they play in Michigan. To have Pepper Keenan back with Corrosion definitely made the show a top rated show at the Orbit Room for me. The Shrine put on an average show, but this was my first time seeing them.

This was the first 'club' concert for our youngest, we've raised him on Clutch and COC and they (as expected) did not disappoint, our older boy and his girlfriend also joined us and left grinning from ear to ear. I've seen them playing together years ago, and had seen COC at the Casino nearly 18 years ago, just as good as back then if not better. The Shrine was a good opening band too, similar style, lots of power and catchy hooks. COC is in fine form after some time apart from Pepper and seeing Reed on drums is insane!!! They had a killer set list and tore it up. Clutch was on fire and brought the roof down as always, the new album is amazing and the guys were in perfect form, Neil brought the humor and stage antics as always and our boys will never forget this night!!! Can't wait for COC's new album and for them to come back to the Casino!

Overall was a great show. The venue was great, even packed with people it wasn't overwhelming. And I must give security their dues as they did an excellent job. I got to be in the front row (got there early and it was a standing gig), which was awesome and Clutch was by far the best. Clutch did a superb job getting the crowd going and played the perfect mix of new songs and old fan favorites. Only complaint about the show was it ended too soon!!! Started at 8pm and it ended by 11:40pm. Even with the encore. Other than that minor thing was a really fun night and I would totally recommend this show:)

Clutch was on fire at the Hampton beach Ballroom Casino. They tore it up completely and flawlessly with complete attitude. Never as a band have they played and sounded better and they have been great for over two decades. I am so glad I fought the 30 mile backup on 495 North to get to this show, it was worth every second of it! Corrosion Of Conformity was great as well, but Clutch was the winner hands down.

Great night The Shrine opened with a high energy set of killer tunes. I can see those guys doing as well as The Sword if they keep at it. COC in my opinion stole the show. The staff for the place were nasty to the people outside who were trying to get their nicotine in. herding them down the stairs like cattle and threatening people who wouldn't keep moving. Yet the whole place inside was like living in a giant bong. COC were relentless and powerful. Pepper hasn't lost a step and the band was tight as a drum. Matter of fact COC were so energetic and tight that it kind of made Clutch seem a little boring. I stayed though and had a great night.

We only caught the very end of the The Shrine, but heard from others they were good. I enjoyed Corrosion of Conformity - I'd never heard their music before. We really came to see Clutch, as they are my boyfriend's favorite band. They were awesome! So animated, sounded even better live than on recordings, and really got the crowd pumped. I'd be thrilled to go see them again.

This was my first time seeing Clutch and I was not disappointed! The whole family (including 2 teenagers ) enjoyed every second of the show. I would and hopefully will see them again. This was one of the best shows I have ever seen and I have seen more than my fair share of concerts ! I was a bit disappointed that they didn't play Burning Beard or the Regulator. Maybe next time. .....
