The show was a true display of traditional mariachi music by people who have dedicated themselves to preserving a rich Mexican tradition. The show opened with a local group followed by a national high school champion group from San Antonio. Their vocals were simply amazing. This a was a good family event especially for those wanting to display traditional music to younger people. I would definitely recommend this type of show to anyone with a love for the musical arts and Mexican heritage.

Mariachi Vargas puts on the best show in the world I do not get tired of seein them it makes me want to go back to Mexico. Love it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been to several Mariachi Vargas concerts, however they were all in San Antonio, I had premium seats in the pit here in Houston, however the acoustics were terrible especaially the first part of the concert. It was supposed to start at 7:30 and it did not get started till 7:50. I live in Kingwood so I did not get home till midnight. The Mariachi Vargas were awesome, hopefully I can go to San Antonio when they have their concert in November where the acoustics were much better then the Brown Theater(which was surprsing) I think the progam can have more information on the history of Marachi music. I went to a concert in December for the another Marachi group and they gave a very extensive history on Marachi music, as well as the history of the musical insturments which I found very informative.

The bands of Mariachi singers and dancers made my evening. The music was tremendous. The entertainment outstanding. I like the way the Mariachis let the crowd participate with their singing, even though some of us could not carry a tune. The way the Mariachi interacted with each other showed how important this music is to them and how much they enjoy entertaining.

Mariachi Vargas was amazing. A very very good Performance. Just one thing that was off was the microphones. Every one in a while it seemed as there were having some technical problems. However, over all Mariachi Vargas gave the public a unforgetable performance.

I am not a big mariachi fan, bought tickets for my mom as a mother's day gift. I wasn't too excited to go, but I knew she would like it. I was AMAZED!! She had an incredible time but I really think I enjoyed it more! I got goose bumps and some songs even bought me to tears! Keep in mind these were mostly songs I have never heard before. I am looking forward to the next time they come, hopefully soon!!!!!! UNFORGETABLE EXPERIENCE!!!!!

It was a great musical extravaganza! We were surprised by the musical talent of the opening musicians, including the vocalists. We thoroughtly enjoyed the charm, talent and show business magic of El Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan!

The Mariachi Vargas as well as the other two mariachis were great!!! The audio was not so good and certainly the fact that they started almost 30 minutes lates was terrible. An event that is pricey, in a nice venue should always be on time, it ruined the appreciation for the show because meade me mad. The other things that ruined it was that people were allowed to come in even in the middle of the presentation making more noise and distraction when the sound was already bad and difficult to hear.

Incomparable musicians and performers. The epitome of this beautiful musical genre. Don't miss it!

The first mariachi on stage did not like it, the sound was horrible but Mariachi Vargas was awesome.

For 10 years have been going to see and every year they never sees to amaze me. their show is great. music at it's best as all are great musicians and could play in any world orchestra if they so choose.

The evening was wonderful the atmosphere was grand and I really enjoyed it. Thanks.

Being this magnificent group for 75 years and for the last five years I have heard this group provide a beautiful sound even with members changing every year I have gone to see them. The organization this group has allows them to provide a good show each and every time & my best friend and I have truly enjoyed it.

The entire program was excellent. Enjoyed the MC...hope he is back next year. The performances by the schools and University were also excellent. The show is well worth the price.

I try to go to the Mariachi extravaganza every year. Sometimes my schedule won't permit but, arrangements are done well in advance when I can attend. Mariachi music is heard and loved around the world. I have traveled to Japan and their people love it very much. They also love trios such as "Los Pancho's". I will continue to attend the Mariachi extravaganza for as long as I live.

Outstanding mariachi's from all ranks (middle school-high school-college). Best of all was show given by sebastine de la Cruz. He is very outstanding in presentating his show, and with his charisma, and schooling he has had in presenting his show he will be on top of his profession quickly. Mariaci vargas gave a geat show and continue to show why they are number I.

Having previously attended several Vargas performances at the Municipal Auditorium and sitting in different sections we were very disappointed with this venue's accustics We sat in the second row in the balcony and we could not understand most of the comedian's monologue. And the Vargas sound was nothing like we remembered from other performances. Will not attend at this venue again. Maybe you could consider the Tobin center.

It was great and will go again. My family loved it as well.

Awesome performance by all the Maraichi groups. I recommend attending their next performance. You will not disappointed.

When I purchased the tickets I was led to believe that the show would be only Mariachi Vargas performing. However the first 2/3 of the show were filled with High School/Middle School Mariachi Bands and a young kid from San Antonio. This kid was on a show but his voice was better when he was younger. He is now in his teens and his voice is changing, it cracked multiple times during the performance. Honestly, he should take a brake or train his voice better. Mariachi Vargas performed for less time than I was expecting. I checked afterwards to see if maybe I didn't read the description correctly but no, it never states clearly that the show will not be only Mariachi Vargas. Unless you've gone before and are familiar with this show you wouldn't know the setup. This was my first time going, never again. I traveled from out of town to go see the show and I was really disappointed with the venue because from where I was sitting on the balcony you couldn't see the performance because they would leave the stage and walk around in the crowd below, hiding from the rest of us. Also, the Lila Theater did not have the air circulation on because it was terribly hot and stuffy. You would think that in a room with so many people they would cool the temp appropriately.

This is always a great show. My wife and I have attended this event of 15yrs. Anyone who likes Marachi music this is a must see event!

Mariachi Vargas are worthy of their reputation as the best in the world! They are all-around talented as singers and as instrumentalists. They truly are the heart of Mexico.

I had been looking forward to this concert for a while. The event was such a disappointment!!! The only fair part of the event was Yolanda Del Rio. I'm not sure if it was the venue since it had been the first time there, but the acoustic was terrible. The overall all the event was disappointing, it has to be a long time for the bad taste to go away until I decide to attend another Mariachi Vargas event. And this is from a person that absolutely LOVES mariachi.

Incredible music, incredible voices. These guys are so skilled at their craft that it left me in awe. El Pastor was sublime, with the sustain on the vocals resonating throughout the full auditorium. A great show for me as a first time audience member.

Amazing show! They played a bit over 2 hrs and had a very nice tribute to Don Pepe Martinez! I did not catch the name of the student girl but she has an amazing powerful voice! I took my mom for Mother s day and she absolutely loved the show. Mariachi Vargas said they would come back every year if we want them, well, I will continue to take my mom to see this show.

I have never been a fan of Yolanda Del Rio, however, I must say, the lady won me. She is not only talented but a modest, nice lady! I have always loved Mariachis music, but have just come to realize that Vargas only performs for one hour! The tickets are not cheap and it's only one day; they need to have a two-hour concert. I love the Folklorico dances, but when they have them, they shouldn't take an entire hour. Bottom line, Vargas needs to perform longer and with a wider variety of songs!

it was awesome, from when it started all the way till the end. I would go every time they come to perform in El Paso. They should have a time for pictures with the mariachi vargas.

An amazing event, some of the finest Mariachi I have ever heard, a level of skill and showmanship to be rivaled by others. I can't wait to go again!!

These are truly the best Mariachis on earth, that is their claim to fame. They played for 2hrs and fifteen minutes without stopping. They get the crowd involved in their songs and each of them sing. I would definetly go see them again.

It was an awesome show!! The vibe was great they entertained you and not just played the whole time.

This Mariachi is AMAZING, great performance. My complain is for the Valley Performing Arts Center, they did not sell tequila in a Mariachi concert, Can you believe it?

Yolanda and all the Mariachi's performed great!!! My only issue is the chairs they used for seating. After seating for a few hours they got really uncomfortable. Other than that everything was great.

The Mariachi Vargas concert was fabulous, no wonder the group is known as the best Mariachi in the world. The interaction with the audience was one of the best parts of the concert. Looking forward to their return to San Manuel Casino. Que vive el Mariachi.

Hard to believe that a house full of kids and old folks could end up screaming, clapping, and crying at the end of a mariachi performance, but these guys are in a league all by themselves. You HAVE NOT experience MARIACHI until you see the Vargas in concert.

The show was Great! Amazing talent and the best of Mariachi music. On the down side... the venue seemed to be unorganized when it came to seating arrangements. My group was moved down my row in the middle of the show, assuming we were in the right seats and others were in our actual seats. Wish there were more guidance to our seats. Otherwise, my group and I really enjoyed the show. Thank you!

Mariachi Vargas was incredible! I purchased these tickets for my mother's birthday and she left in love with the Mariachis. Now these are mariachis!!!!

Despite mariachi Vargas was suppose to be the # 1 Mariachi of the world, I think they have became the second or third of the world if not lower!! They used to be GREAT, not a doubt. But not anymore. Too romantic!!!! Mariachi is suppose to be happiness, lots of violin, guitars , Etc.

The world famous Maraichi Vargas performed to expectations. They ran the full gambit of their repertoire. They interfaced well with the audience and kept their songs brisk. Most of the troupe had a chance to lead a sing. The electric Harp stole the show.

I was expecting the mariachi to play much more songs as a concert. The main reason I bought tickets for this was for the mariachi. Don t get me wrong the play was great. It was a wonderful story. The venue was beautiful. My only complaint is that once the show starts, no one is allowed in to use the restroom. If you do step out you are sent to higher designated seats. So basically there s no point in buying expensive good seats if your going to go pee and then lose them. Other than that it was a nice time.

I thought it was going to be a concert but ended being a play. I was not allowed to take pictures or videos. What a waste of time. I wish I can get a refund.

I took my mom to see this since she is a huge follower of all Maricahi music. We both thought the story that was told was beautiful and well told. Maricahi Vargas sounded amazing. We laughed we cried...... I'm glad I saw it and highly recommend it to people of all ages and races. I would definitely see it again!!!

Everything was absolutely amazing just expected more music a different ending, similar to the opening.

It was a new experience for my family. My husband and I took our 3 teenage daughters and we all enjoyed it.

I enjoyed every second of the performance. I brought my parents and they were both crying because they identified with the story. I also brought my daughter and it was a great visual for her to understand the hardship her grandparents went through to provide us with a better life. I would only recommend to check the sound system

This was my BF first time we enjoyed it. I was so into the play, I identified myself because my Father crossed the border and I stayed behind.

The event is not what I accepted. I accepted a performance from the main event which was the Mariachi Vargas. I would not recommend the event

We Pay to lesson a good Mariachi music (That's what we expected) and we encounter a Armature Performance with Mariachi Music background. They use the Mariachi famous name as a propaganda.

This was not what I expected but it turned out brilliant. Full blown storytelling with Mariachi actors and musicians telling the story of how so many Mexican families have to live apart to be able to provide for their families. Fantastic singers and actors.

This rates as my all time favorite opera. I had just lost my wife of 50+ years, she was from Mexico & we made many trips there to visit friends & family and stay in our home there. The opera brought back so many memories that I cried throughout the entire performance. The Mariachi Vargas accompaniment was inspirational.

The Mariachi Opera Cruzar la Cara de la Luna at the Soraya Valley Performing Arts Center was amazing! We loved the singing, the music, the storyline in two languages, and everything else too!

Great performance! Loved the fact that some of the members of the mariachi walked down to the crowd to take pictures and greet the people while singing/performing.

I love this Mother's Day Concert and try to attend every year in the company of my lovely mother. Watching this amazing group is really a privilege. The venue is a classic and there is plenty of parking, attendants at the venue, and the seats are all good. I love the culture and the fact that young mariachis and folklorico dancers are invited to share the stage with these legends. I highly recommend taking the matriarchs of the family. It's definitely a memorable experience.

So the booking was easy. Tickets were emailed and printed and presented at the venue. The venue was nice and staff were courteous. Nice venue... Loved, I mean loved the performance. The highlight was the song "Time to say good bye," a tribute to their manager who passed.

I and my family have made it a tradition every year to go see these excellent performers.Would go see them anyplace but if you want up close and personal go to the El Paso event

An excellent presentation by Mariachi Vargas! True gentleman! I was extremely disappointed by the audience, the first they are told is to turn cells off! The first thing they do we had to tell the couple in front of us to stop video taping the light on their phone was extremely bothersome! They were not the only ones. I hope the theate management can enforce for the audience to keep phones off!

The Plaza Theatre, in my opinion, is too small of a stage for the potent voices of the mariachis. They need a much bigger platform!! There were times when my ears were ringing.

This is the best group of professionals who maintain the historical reputation of their group. This program was well orchestrated, well planned with an excellent balance of its content. The program met the expectation of the Mariachi aficionados ranging from the old to the contemporary Mariachi music.

the leadup by the albeit good highschoolers lasted way too long which left too little time for the Mariachi Vargas which was how I thought the performance was billed.

Great event. Was our first time and we enjoyed it very much. The project about the school Mariachi Bands is commendable. It was awesome. They do not call them "the Best Marach in the World" for nothing. I'm coming back next year wth friends.

Our first time attending this type of concert at the Lila Cockrell Theatre. It was awesome, an experience I will never forget!!

So what it really is, is a presentation of the local mariachi students that won a contest. Is not a complete Vargas presentation. Plus Vargas didn't sang as much and they didn't played mariachi songs at all. They just took regular pop and made it mariachi. Totally not pleased.

Awesome performance all night. The show was full of great performances and I would greatly recommend going. I've missed the chance to go last few times, but I'm glad I was able to go this time around.

I have attended many of their concerts but this one really stood out for me. The winners were awesome and especially the singer, Nidia Rojas. She was outstanding. But, of course, the main attraction was at the top of their performance. Looking forward to next year.

I have been going for years. I always plan to attend. My Mom from Chicago spends the winters with me, here in SA. I have taken her twice before. This year, the Mariachi group were here about 10 days too early. My Mom is not here yet. So she will miss it. Sad face. She will be 92 this Feb and she really likes them. Hopefully next year, she can see them.

I was most impressed as always when attending this concert but, this year I was not happy there was no program as in years past, giving the history of the Mariachi and what changes have been made. I believe this is a very important part of the program - also, there should be some reasonable effort made to have a "credit card machine and or debit card machine" available for the sales of CD's and other items being sold.

Highly recommend this event to anyone into Mariachi music.

I am a Houstonian and this was the second time attending the event and enjoyed it even more than the first. I was disappointed with the judges' selection of the best vocalists. It seemed a little bias. Nonetheless, what a treat to have heard Ms. Riojas. She is amazing. Also, the Mistress of Ceremonies, Vanessa, was delightful. She kept it going to say the least. I am already looking forward to next year's event and hope to purchase my tickets a little earlier to get better seats.

Excellent show, would be back for the next time they return.

THE OPENING MARIACHI BANDS FROM LOCAL AREAS WERE VERY GOOD AND MARIACHI VARGAS WAS GREAT.

My husband and I really enjoyed the beautiful music performance by Mariachi Vargas and the other two groups of young entertainers! They were all amazing and unforgettable! Thank you so much for such an outstanding show!!! Can't wait to hear them again next year!!!

I really enjoyed the show like I did last year but this year was different. Why were so many people allowed to be seated after the show had started? It was a major distraction. They should have waited to let them in at intermission. Also, we went to see the HS students and they were only allowed one number while Mr. Vela and the Pan Am group went on and on. We got tired of them.

Mariachi group seem to be disorganized and tired. Some of the members appeared sluggish and forcing to smile Especially the singer who sang El Pastor song he really did not appear to be enthusiastic as he did last year. The whole group was not as energic as last year and the song selection could have been better. The group from kingsville were outstanding And Energetic. We enjoyed ourselves but we have seen better performance We pray that the group members rest up and feel better. We have attended their performances for 3 years and we can tell the difference.

The event was very amazing. The additional Mariachi band made it that much more enlightening. Had a wonderful time, would go there again.

The music was amazing! The venue not to much. We had floor seats and it was hard to see main stage, but the big screens made up for not being able to see and the show was well worth the money!
