If you are a Whitney Houston fan, you will love this show. Great music, Awesome live band (although you couldn't see them) and beautiful stage set. I was nervous when I bought the tickets because I have seen so many performer's attempt to do Whitney's music justice but I am now a new fan of Deborah Cox!!! She was Phenomenal and made Whitney proud. Warning: If you are looking for a replay of the movie, you will be disappointed. They tell the Bodyguard story but this is more about good singing and dancing. They throw in some nice comedy too. Relax and close your eyes and let Deborah Cox take you on a magical ride into Whitney Houston's musical library. Favorite Moments? 1) Deborah's rendition of "I will always love you". She brought the house down. 2) The audience dance and sing along with "I want to dance with somebody"

I haven't seen the movie so I wasn't sure what to expect here, cuz I'm not usually a fan of musicals. But I'm a huge fan and collector of both Whitney Houston and Deborah Cox, so I snagged a front row seat to see this show at DeVos Hall in Grand Rapids, and WOW -- I was blown away! I don't know how they managed to cram so many Whitney Houston songs into just a 2 hour show, but it was hugely hugely impressive! Deborah Cox's vocals were spot on and she looked great too. Definitely an enjoyable show and GR was lucky to have brought such an amazing performance to town!

The show was sold as the Bodyguard starring Deborah Cox. So when we get to our show the Saturday Matinee and she isn't preforming. I am upset. Since this is only 5 show of the start of the tour . The understudy Jasmine Richardson showed a lack of energy and messed up the words in the song before intermission. I thought it was a regional theater show at best and would like my money back.

I've always loved the Bodyguard so I was excited for this show. It exceeded my expectations. They incorporated so many More elements of Whitney's music that made it a great, almost tribute to her legacy as a musician. Great voices...Deborah Cox was amazing. The actress who played the older sister had awesome voice too. Interesting how they adapted the movie to a stage production. Kept all of the songs, changed a few things but incorporated everything necessary. Actor who played Farmer was great, even sounded a bit like Kevin Costner. Highly recommend to see this one.

The acting is great! Deborah Cox is phenomenal!!! I didn't have high expectations when I first bought tickets, tho I knew Deborah had the vocals to pull it off, I wasn't sure how the transition from movie to musical would go, but they really worked it out. The actors were great, and even the support players were interesting and engaging. All the songs were whitney songs, mainly sang by DC, but others as well.

We are always looking for something different to do for fun and entertainment. We attended the Sunday evening performance of The Bodyguard at the DeVos Hall on 03/11/18. Our programs informed us that Deb Cox was not going to perform, and I was sort of disappointed, since we paid full price for our tickets. Once the show got going, I saw that the stand in, Naomi C. Walley, was well prepared to fill Miss Cox's shoes! She, and the rest of the actors, singers and dancers did a fantastic job! The oncore of "I want to Dance With Somebody" was a perfect ending! We thoroughly enjoyed the performance, I keep hearing the songs drifting through my head, and I haven't stopped telling people about how good it was, ever since! Thank you, to all of the cast. It was a night out we won't soon forget!

Amazing singing, even sounded like Whitney Houston! There were tons of slow parts. We were the last show to see the original Rachel. The show after us were handed notes that she was not singing. I think I would have been disappointed if that happened to us.

What a wonderful way to spend a Saturday evening! The vocals of Deborah Cox were nothing short of AMAZING!! I can't wait to see what she decides to do next!! The cast were all very talented and the dancers did an exceptional job with the choreography. It was different from the movie with lots of Whitney songs through out. The music was great it you Love Whitney but it was not the same as the movie soundtrack. A lot of the music from the movie was included but many were not and other Whitney Houston music from the 1980 s was added instead. The play and acting were not great at all it was only the music that held our attention.

I really enjoyed The Bodyguard. Vocals, design, costumes, and choreography was on point. Whitney would have been proud! Although Deborah Cox wasn't at the show her U/S did a spectacular job at filling in for her. She is a very talented lady. The show also had a nice pace. I would definitely recommend it!

i was at the show on Aug 16th 2017 and i heard Deborah Cox didnt make the opening night but she was there weds and she was so pretty and voice was great and i am a huge fan of hers , for a moment i forgot it was the musical and not one her club gigs i was ready for her to launch into one of her own songs . Not just anyone can sing a Whitney Houston song so when I heard that R&B singer Deborah Cox was going to star in this, I got excited. She was the vocalist who sang the soundtrack for the Lifetime movie Whitney. Imagine my disappointment when I arrived and learned that Miss Cox would not be performing my matinee in fact, Miss Cox does not perform any of the matinee shows. Nowhere on Ticketmaster or on the Pantages website do they inform you of this. The show not only contains the memorable songs from the film but also more from the late Miss Houston's catalog which only added insult to injury since the understudy who ironically, is regularly in the cast as a collage girl singing bad karaoke versions of "Rachel Marron's" hit's, is at best, an average back up singer & nowhere near the vocalist that Miss Cox is . The show itself felt off pace, the lead actor was sluggish and the musical numbers were very bad Vegas. I have attended community theater with better sets and choreography.

Whitney Houston, one of the greatest singers of all time cannot be duplicated, having said that, Deborah Cox did a fabulous job with her personalized renditions of the power ballads. The artist who portrayed Rachel's I sis, Nikki was equally compelling. Her vocal chops resonated with the audience, she lit up the stage!! The storyline was well portrayed with some creative changes to highlight and showcase the chorus and dancers. Staging, lighting excellent.

I have been to many Broadway plays and paid big bucks for good seats. DPAC shows are as good as any Broadway show I've ever seen! No hassle parking a short distance from the theater. Excellent venue! Not a bad seat in the house.

Being a Deborah Cox addict and having much of Whitney Houston s music as the soundtrack to my complex late-teen and early 20s years, I m of course quite biased and therefore, needless to say, absolutely loved the shows. However, had I just awakened from a pre-1985 coma and never heard a Whitney song or witnessed a phenomenal Deborah performance, I would've become an instant fan of both after having experienced such a stunning production. I attended 2 shows in Memphis and am anxiously awaiting the 2 New Orleans shows I m seeing in April. Then it s on to Dallas for a couple more performances in July. (I wish those tiks would hurry up and go on sale.) The show s certainly worth the drives from home here in NW Louisiana. I can t wait!

I took another viewers advice about not attending matinee or Sunday performances so that I wouldn't miss her. Orchestra seats are great it puts you in the show. This show is a must see.

The show seemed more like an homage to Whitney, which would've been okay if Deborah would've been there to sing the songs. Beware, she may or may not be performing in the shows. Overall, it was a good show with good singers - a little rushed through the storyline.
