Anti-Flag

ANTI-FLAG IN CONCERT:Punk rock renegades Anti-Flag have been packaging their subversive political messages in hardcore hooks for over two decades. In concert the band plays with palpable passion and tears through their rebellious anthems at a lightning-fast pace. Guitarist Justin Sane’s piercing tenor perfectly complements bassist Chris No. 2’s guttural growl as the two trade off lead vocal duties.

Great venue. Excellent room, show was amazing. Staff friendly and accommodating. Small crowd but lots of energy. Band members at Merch tables, very nice to fans. We will be back for another show at The Masquerade! Easy to park.

The show was great.Aiden was good, but Anti-Flag was amazing. They played a fun and energetic show.It was my first time seeing them.I have loved them for a long time though.Sadly Justin Sane was not there due to a death in his family, but Chris #2 handled the position of full time lead singer perfectly.I gave it 4 star only due to the fact Justin was not there.

The venue is always good. I liked the old Masquerade, but the new one is better ventilated so you don't get as hot. Anti-Flag is always amazing. Always!

They always put on a great show! The crowd took care of each other and the night ended in Pat drumming in the middle of the pit floor!

As expected Anti-flag played an unforgettable show! It was my favorite of the times I've seen them as they played a couple of my personal favorites! They always enter the stage hard and loud! Keep the crowd engaged and always show that they want to be there and love their fans! I have never missed one of their shows when they come to my area since I discovered them several years ago. Their shows are never the same which always makes me come back for more! I highly recommend seeing them!

Anti-Flag was everything as advertised. Their set starts at a fever pitch and builds from there. That they can tour the world singing the truth is amazing! Screaming Females was a revelation. The guitar player was great. I mean really great! One of the best players I've ever seen. World's Scariest Police Chases were a blast! A Great Evening of Rock and Roll!

First and foremost, Mohawk place is the perfect venue for a punk rock show like this. Even though the sound isn't amazing, It is an intimate and fun venue. Secondly, I don't think I've ever seen Anti-Flag put on a bad show. High energy, passionate, engaging, Anti-Flag is all of these things and more. They played a great mix of new and old songs, took care of the crowd, and had great energy.

The bands were amazing. Except Lemuria. They really didn't seem to fit the scene; they seemed more fit for an art festival than I punk show. But The Flatliners were completely incredible. Oh, and Anti-Flag. oh yeah. Phenomenal. They're punk gods. The energy in the crowd was AMAZING. We all just exploded as soon as they came out. Definitely one of the best shows I've ever seen. It felt like an old-school punk show. it's so hard to find real punk bands, and a real show nowadays. This was a breath of fresh air for all true punk rockers.

It was a good show but the sound mixing could have been better. This is becoming a big problem at most venues.

Aiden and the Cancer Bats were amazing! Unfortunately, I couldn't stay to see Antiflag. I live down by AC and had to get home before the blizzard got real bad. I spun out near my house as it was. I was disappointed, because I hadn't seen Anti-flag in about 8 years, but I'm a bigger fan of Aiden, so it wasn't all bad.

Anti-Flag was awesome as usual. They always put on a spectascular show and give it their all. Aiden was ok. The rest of the line-up was a disappointment...

All in it wasn't a bad show. The opening acts were okay. Aiden was fantastic and Anti-Flag did a stellar job. I think one or two of the band members were sick and Justin was gone for a family emergency, but they still did a heck of a job and loved seeing them preform as it had been over ten years since my last Anti-Flag show. Good work and if you like punk, definitely a band to see.

Unfortunately, Justin had a death in the family and was not available. #2 took over and was great. Only downside was they only played just under an hour.

This concert was amazing, I thought I was going hate aiden but I turned out loving them, and anti-flag was amazing even tough #2 had to sing all the songs cause justin sane wasn't there. His nephew had just died. but other than that it was a terrific concert

Loads of fun. The second band sounded like blink 182 and was too upbeat. Aiden and cancer bats got you a bit hyped up and then when anti-flag came on, the fun really started. Bummer that Justin wasn't there, but what can you do? A bit surprised that there weren't as many hardcore punks there. They kept a large mosh pit going easily and the energy was just amazing! A few songs I would've like to be played weren't and a few songs I didn't expect to be played were. All in all, a really great time

And I'm 42, so there've been a lot of concerts to compare it with. I've been a fan of Anti-Flag for years, but somehow the timing was never right the previous times they'd come to town. I was extremely excited to attend this, my first Anti-Flag concert. And man, did it suck. Lead singer and founding member, Justin Sane, wasn't even in the house. He can't be faulted for that; a family member had been severely injured in some kind of accident, and Justin did the right thing to join his family under the circumstances. But it wasn't until the band took the stage that any of us in the audience learned that the band's central figure wouldn't be there. We were assured by Chris #2, the bassist and part time front man who took over the lead role on this night, that canceling the show was never a consideration, what with all the respect and appreciation he and his band-mates had for us fans. Personally, I thought that respect and appreciation might better be represented in an apology and a refund, but no, said #2, there was still a lot of fun to be had this night. How much fun? Well, the initial set lasted all of a half-hour. Few of the bands classics were played, although to be fair, few of the band's SONGS were played. When one of my favorites, "Death of a Nation," kicked in, I was happy. But mid-way through the song, the band stopped playing so that #2 could dedicate a few minutes to order a couple of guys in the front row to kiss each other on the lips or get the hell out of there. I assume they'd been fighting, although that was never explained, so most of us in the audience had absolutely no idea what was going on. What was clear was that these guys did not want to kiss each other on the lips, so drummer Pat Thetic actually got up from behind his kit, walked to the front of the stage, and kissed a guy himself. Twice. Finally, order was restored, but Death of a Nation was not. They'd already moved on to the next song. After about the fourth song, #2 started thanking the audience from the bottom of his heart. Another song played, he thanked us again. After the next tune, he thanked us even more and then walked off the stage with his band-mates in tow. Was that really all they had for us? No, no. They came back on stage for the encore, which consisted of two-and-a-half Clash songs (Guns of Brixton didn't merit a full playing, apparently), followed by one last Anti-Flag number, "Power to the Peaceful." And that was it. Oh, and opening acts The Cancer Bats and Aiden are awful, talentless bands whose names I hope never to hear again.

Anti-flag was absolutely amazing. They even played 3 songs in their encore. Pat came down and played the last song on the floor instead of up on the stage (he brought a few drums with him). People who haven't heard their new album "The People or the Gun" might get a bit confused about it and not know some of the songs. They did play a few songs from "For Blood and Empire" also.

And the title doesn't just refer to Pittsburgh. Having seen Anti-flag more times than I can remember over the years, this show was one of the more memorable ones. One of the best aspects of the show-the venue. The Smiling Moose provided a small, stripped down setting for a band that was until recently synonymous with "major labels" and "selling out". All the small details about the band aside, they played a killer set that I had forgotten this band was capable of. Gone were the preachy, political-drenched "join this cause" rambles that us Anti-flag fans have come to be used to. They ripped through this set in a blaze of loud, fast, old and new. Ranging from "Indie Sucks, Emo Sucks, Hardline Sucks, You Suck", to a majority of their latest release. They were even courteous enough to stop midway through the set to check the score of the Penguins-Red Wings game (game 5, I believe) so that we wouldn't feel left out. Also, American Armada (great local band) took care of business on opening duties. Tight set, minimal talking, and an overall great show.
