Marvin Sapp

Grammy-nominated Marvin Sapp credits the entirety of his pop culture success to his faith, a power that served as the sole inspiration behind his 2012 participation in the Kings Men tour — not to mention his best-selling 2007 release, Thirsty. After achieving success with this breakthrough album, Sapp proceeded to further spread his faith by pursuing a speaking tour, as well as a live recording of several fan favorites at churches and cathedrals across the country. Sapp’s performances has fans on their feet, swaying side to side to his slow, yet inspirational  lyrics. In 2009, the gospel singer followed up his huge breakthrough album by recording "Here I Am" live at Wyoming, Michigan's Resurrection Life Church.

Marvin Sapp was good, but it was hard to follow behind Tamela Mann. She had the audience captivated with her voice and her testimony. I would see this show again if it came back to town

This concert series was unforgettable. Starting with William McDowell who warmed up the crowd. And then the Soul Seekers came out singing new school gospel in an old school way. Then the Rance Allen Group came out and gave a resounding rendition of what they do best. But thats not all, Lee Williams and the Spritual QCs came out and shook the house. And then the legendary Pastor Shirley Caesar had everyone on their feet giving honor and glory to God.After Shirley Caesar rocked the house, Marvin Sapp took it to another level with a medley of his most popular hits. It aint over yet, last but not least, The Mighty Clouds of Joy closed the show out, one jumped off stage signing and glorifying the Lord, the other singer had to have to mic taken away. This was awesome. The concert started at 6 and wasnt over til 11. Heres the kicker, I had seats on the fifth row on the floor right at the stage, and they were only $38 bucks. I definitely got my monies worth and then some.

I bought these tickets to surprise my parents. I purposely selected seats on the floor close to the stage during my purchase. When we arrived I was told that the seating was general admission. The tickets did not indicate that. Secondly, by 9pm, Marvin Sapp had not gone on stage although the concert started at 6:00pm. There were numerous opening acts and a lot of stalling promoting the sale of t-shirts and even a strange moment to give gifts to clergy in the audience but they realized they didn't have any gifts. My parents were ready to leave by 9pm, we never got a chance to see Marvin Sapp.

Although it started late, the concert was EXCELLENT and it was truely a blessing to be there. The spirit was definitely in the building and being able to worship with people who are annointed made the experience one of a kind. I would definitely recommend anyone...anyone who needs a blessing or there spirits lifted....to go to this concert.

A friend and i drove from Atlanta Ga to see marvin sapp and it was really worth the drive. He is an awesome man of god and he did a wonderful job from the opening act to the end. Everyone was upset at first because we had to stand outside the curtain for about 30mins but once the concert started we forgot all about that part. i would love to see him in concert again hopefully in the atlanta area. I didn't like the fact that they didnt have any programs for the show.

I went to this show at the Florence Civic center in 38 degrees we waited outside two hours to be sure we were in the front of the line since I had small children (9 & 3) and the show was general admission and I wanted to be sure my children got to get good sits. and after waiting we were told we had to wait further because of a sound check delay since Marvin wasnt there yet and nobody could come in the building. After speaking to several people we finally were allowed in and finaly seated 3 hours later. then the show didnt start for an additoinal 20 min however once tis show begain it was amazing I would go again just not expect it to be on time LOL! Mr Sapp AWESOME Blessed Event!

Everything was great except Vanessa Bell Armstrong should have had a band instead of playing a cd track and singing with the music. She should have been first since she did not have a band or back-up singers, not before the main act appears.

The perfomance was outstanding!! There aren't many show that leave you entertained, spiritually motivated and enlightened!! I've seen a lot of different artist perform but very few that give of themselves like Marvin Sapp. The band was on point and their energy level was high. Sitting 4th row allowed me to see somethings that others sitting further back, may not have seen. However, I saw nothing that made me see this event as less than one of the best shows to come to Milwaukee. However, I would sugeest that the sponsor/promoter use better marketing strategies to get the word out. I can't believe the number of people who didn't know the show was coming to town.

Marvin Sapp is an outstanding singer, but the show was too scripted for a gospel show. He acted as though he was in a hurry. He ended the show without saying goodnight, thank you, or anything. He did not once acknowledge the Men of Tomorrow - the organization that brought him in. He asked for suggestions of songs from his former group Commission, but did not sing any of the suggested songs. I dont even think he knows where he was. The Bucks were playing the Heat at the arena, but he said the Mavericks and magic. Show enough respect for the city you are in to learn something about it before you make a comment. He owes Milwaukee more than that.

His voice was unbelievable as usual. His testimony, praise and his worship was sincere. It was clear that he was a little annoyed by the audience. A lot of the audience only knew him from the 3 songs that they play on secular radio stations. He began singing some songs from his 2000 and 2002 albums. When not many people were able to follow he stopped the song. He then started asking the audience what he should sing. The audience still was unable to participate because again I don't think that most people know him as a worshiper, and a preacher, but as a star (music award winner). He continued to petition the audience to pray and worship with him, but they were too busy snapping pics. So he sang the two songs that are played on the radio, grabbed his towel and H20 and walked off the stage.

I FELT THE PERFORMANCE WAS LOOSELY STRUCTURED. HE DIDN'T SEEM TO KNOW WHAT HE WAS GOING TO DO,; IT SEEMED LIKE HE WAS WINGING IT A LOT. I FELT HE WAS GOING THRU THE MOTIONS AND HIS HEART WASN'T REALLY IN IT. I ALSO THOUGHT HIS SHOW ENDED SOMEWHAT ABRUPTLY. MARVIN HAS A BEAUTIFUL VOICE AND GREAT MUSICIANS. I KNOW PERFORMING FOR HIM IS NOT JUST HIS PROFESSION BUT A CALLING. AT THE PERFORMANCE I SAW, I THOUGHT HE PERFORMED LIKE IT WAS HIS PROFESSION AND NOT A CALLING.

I enjoyed the music line up very much. Marvin Sapp, Myron Butler, and Vashawn Mitchell were very inspirational and produced a great performance. However, seating was horrible. My friend and I sat on the floor and the seats were very close together. There was no room to move and once we stood up to particpate with the artists, we had to turn sideways just to be comfortable.

This was my second time going to spiritual concert, but this one was amazing! Pastor Shirley Caesar always out do herself, and Marvin Sapp is living proof that god is and says what he will do..... I enjoyed the song with the March with Pastor Shirley and the way that Marvin Sapp does his hands while singing with the music. He is so in tuned.

Marvin Sapp was very down to earth and personal. He shared some of the DVD footage with us and even made us laugh. I enjoyed the new songs that I heard as well as some of the old favorites. I only wish that it would have been advertised as a listening party and not a full concert like many were led to believe. Aside from that, I enjoyed it immensely.

In spite of a few minor technical difficulties, Marvin Sapp was completely relaxed and fully enjoying his audience. He was energetic, powerful and it was like being at a spiritual retreat. His humble transparency and "perfect" voice filled the place with worship and power. I could tell he loves what he does and I could also tell he is still healing from his beloved wife's passing in 2010. As my favorite, all-time gospel singer, I am SO GLAD I made the hour+ drive to see him.

The praise and worship was by a local church. They sounded great, but I paid to see Marvin. He came out in everyday clothing. He sang bites and pieces from some of his songs. The remainder of the concert was him hitting on a stool showing clips of him performing at other concerts.

Well, I had alot of difficulty with printing the tickets. The computer I used would not print the tickets. After calling ticketmaster to send the tix to the will call, the tickets decided to print. We arrived at 7 30 because of traffic & because I had my tixs I figured I didn't have to go to will call anymore. Well they scanned my tixs & they read refund & they sent us back to the long line for will call. After standing in line for about 5 mins the supervisor of the box office spotted my tickets & allowed us to go up front & he got our tixs printed. When the concert started there was alot of empty seats and I think that DTE energy could have allowed us to move up to fill in the empty seats. The concert was awewsome & I really enjoyed myself but I do not think it would be worth another long drive.

The concert seemed to be unorganized...way too much talking. I enjoy being in the presence of God, but it seemed as if they were trying to force us in his presence with the insessant call to worship. Of the opening acts, the individual with a limp who did the ocapella praise/worship medley was awesome. Marvin took way to long to get to the stage, but his vocal ability was CD quality.

Almost 3 hours of opening acts following by what seemed to be @ 30 min of Marvin Sapp! On the last song the lights went up he walked off the stage never to return. No good night no thanks for coming out no nothing! I was soooooooooo disappointed as well as my husband and kids. I have to say that Marvin Sapp has an awesome voice and blew us away but the concert could have been better without all those opening acts. I do not know if Marvin Sapp was late or what but there was a lot of stalling from those on stage. Given the circumstances the audience was beyond patient. Next time Marvin go to the Chrysler Hall. Marvin and Tamela have world class voices and should be heard in a venue were you can hear a pin drop. That is why I was so happy to see they were coming to the Cobb Energy center. outside of symphony Hall it is the most beautiful and well structured concert hall in Atlanta. Tamela and Marvin were GREAT, but unfortunately the concert was marred by very very excessive strobbling lights light a discuss. the bass and electronics were so loud one could barely hear the artist. except for the song CHANGED, they toned the band down a little. a horrible headache within the hour and prayed for it to be over for 3 hours. PLEASE let these artist sing when you bring them to a Real refined concert hall. this was not some crazy open outdoor park.

The comic was very good and seemed to get the audience going. He had everyone laughing. Second on stage was Regina Belle. Her performance was stellar and was only inhibited by to poor sound system. Her back up singers were awesome and it seemed as if she understood the sound limitations, because after the 1st song she seemed to put more effort into projecting her voice out to the audience. The final act was Marvin and he came out ready to put on a show even with the only half full auditorium. He started the show trying to get everyone evolved, however the audience did no seem to fully get in the mood. This seemed to lead Marvin to just work the numbers and get off the stage. I will say the lack of audience enthusiasm was again generated by the sound quality.

Just like in the movie Spinal Tap, some genius thought the volume on Marvin Sapp's musicians needed to be on 11. Too loud to enjoy which was very sad. I couldn't have asked for a better line up of artists. The only negative thing I have to say is the sound could have been a bit better in the venue. The volume got so loud at times that the artists sound muffled in certain parts of their songs. If the sound crew could bring the sound down a little for future concerts it will be perfect. My wife and I really enjoyed the concert, it was truly a blessing! However, the concert was a bit too long, and the headliner (Marvin Sapp) didn't come on stage until 10-10:30! As well, he should have spent less time using his cell phone to tell us about a text message to send to his non-profit organization! Although, his non-profit is a very good legacy that he's continuing, started by his late wife. He could have spent no more than 5 mins. explaining the non-profit, and then put his phone away!!!!
