The Maine

Despite sharing their name with a northeastern state, the Maine formed in 2007 in Tempe, AZ, a collegiate suburb of Phoenix. Most of the bandmembers -- singer John O'Callaghan, guitarists Kennedy Brock and Jared Monaco, bassist Garrett Nickelsen, and drummer Pat Kirch -- were in high school at the time, and the guys wasted little time turning their '90s radio rock band influences into a familiar, infectious pop-punk sound. The Maine signed to Fearless Records and released a five-song concept EP, The Way We Talk, in 2007. After performing on the Vans Warped Tour one year later, the group issued a full-length debut album, Can't Stop Won't Stop, which was produced by emo-pop veteran Matt Squire.

Night Riots opened the show with sexy energy reminiscent of OMD in the 80's. Dreamers played second and were quite good as well. The Maine definitely stole the show! Played 2 full albums in their entirety back to back, and then came out for a meet & greet after the show. The House Of Blues is an awesome venue and the staff are helpful and friendly.

This show was great! Everyone there was really into the concert. People were pretty nice, and the staff at the Masquerade is just amazing. I go there for concerts a lot, and they never fail to do a good job. The Maine and Augustana performed really well, and The Maine came out after the show to sign autographs, take pictures with, and talk to fans. They are a friendly bunch of guys. Given the chance, I would go to this show all over again!

The Maine is one of the best live bands to see...EVER! They are really into their music and into their fans also. You can tell they are having the time of their lives on stage! I just love to see them live and will definitely see them again if they come to FL. I drove 2 hours for this show and would gladly do it again!

I can't ever seem to find the right words to describe how amazing Augustana is. They get better every time I see them. It was awesome hearing the songs from their newest album and hearing the older ones reworked. The guys are humble, talented and heading for major success. You must catch one of their live shows immediately!

I went specfically for Augustana and they delivered. Dan's voice was in peak form. I wished the show had more time on Augustana because they went ahead of The Maine so had a shorter set than if they were the headliner. I also find the pairing of The Maine and Augustana a little odd. They are both very different so I am not sure how each fan base enjoys the other shows.

The Maine put on a unforgettable show! They pick perfect opening acts who really got me excited and ready for the Maine. Lead singer, John O'Callaghan, performed shirtless. I know that this was a favorite part of the show for myself and the 75 other girls at the show. They warmed up the crowd with some familiar favorites, then treated the fans to an old song called 'Daisy.' They then brought a fan on stage to help sing 'Girls Do What They Want', while the fan was singing John took pictures on her camera of her in front of the crowd. It was a really cool moment. They then sang a cover song, and then ended the show with their most popular single "Everything I ask For' After the show there was an option to meet the band, and the best part as that it was free. I really appreciate bands that do that because it shows that they want to meet everyone that supports them. Overall it was a great show, and a great night!

I've known The Maine since the start, I've seen them well over 20 times, traveled to see them out of state and they always amaze me and get better. The music continues to improve and the boys are so kind and relate-able waiting after shows to hang out and meet fans. Definitely suggest this band to other friends, though I have already.

I was looking forward to seeing The Maine, Anberlin, Of Indian Lakes and Lydia. I'd always heard of how amazing The Maine is live, and about how great their energy is on stage. I was slightly disappointed. It might have been the venue and the sound but I just felt like the bands didn't connect with the crowd. It was also the people in the crowd. No one was jumping around, and the one kid that tried to crowd surf was criticized. Of Indian Lakes and Lydia were great opening acts; a perfect combination of catchy and cute, they made me nostalgic. Still the experience was not bad, I was just expecting more.

The concert was going well, until the lead singer decided to stop singing to have a full conversation with an annoying teenage girl, ending with his proclamation to make out with her and take pictures of it. Once that was over and I was bored, they started to get back into it and he stopped AGAIN to sign autographs (when the band was set to stay after for that ). It was infuriating. I have never been so bored at a concert I paid for. I've seen them before and loved it, but will never waste my money again.

This concert was undoubtedly the best I have ever been to, and I have seen The Maine five times. The bands were amazing! The Arkells and Lydia resemble The Maine, but are different enough to not be The Maine wannabes. I thoroughly enjoyed them both. The arrangement all together was great! The Arkells and Lydia stayed on the exact right time: not too long to irritate me waiting for The Maine, but long enough for me to get a taste of their sound. All of the bands were so friendly and engaging. The Maine was epic! The confetti cannons definitely set the tone and got the party jumping! I loved that everyone came out to sign and mingle with the fans! Thank you so much for the ultimate experience!

When the Maine play a show it feels like it's one big party, that we're all friends and we know each other and we're just having a great time. It's as if we're in our own living room singing karaoke. The most recent show I've been to was SOLD OUT, at Gramercy Theater in NYC on Dec. 2011 when they did a Pioneer US tour and played their entire album cover to cover along with some new songs and even presented a video that they had made of their growth in the last five years. Every member is not only in sync with each other but also in sync with every individual in the audience. Whether you're sitting or standing, rocking out, you could feel the emotion behind every word, strum, drum beat. Every song they perform is awe-inspiring. Pioneer is an amazing album, and each song on the record is better than the next, but live in person, these songs were captivating. In between each song, there is always amazing interactions with fans, whether it be by jokes or insight on life or some tidbits about the band members. It's really a personal and heartwarming experience to be there among thousands of people and still feel like you can be seen, that the whole night is better because you're there in the crowd. All throughout the show, the crowd s attention is something the band never, ever loses. This record is for all of you. , John O'Callaghan told us and everyone believed it. Fans were waiting in line since early morning on the cold streets of New York. By the end of the night, the line had wrapped around the entire block and then some and The Maine did not let us down, like always, they brought their A game. Their playing was on point and with every word, they brought the warmth back into us. Every show with The Maine is memorable and its' always personalized and warm, literally making your heart tingle.

The Maine sounds clear, fresh and John O' Callaghan's voice, Jared and Kennedy's guitars, Pats drumming, and Garret on bass; still play in my head after An Evening with The Maine. The show was sold out and the venue handled it well. They weren t rude about kicking people out after the show and allowed them to stay to buy merch. Of course, The Maine was amazing and on an unforgettable show. I had never seen the opening band, The Wrecks, before, but they were great as well. The 8123 family is everything, such a close community. Around the corner from the venue, the band hosted a free meet and greet and stayed until they had literally seen every fan. Other than the cops telling everyone to get off the sidewalk, they were reasonable too. Overall, I would recommend the venue and HIGHLY recommend you check out The Maine.

The Maine are one of my favorite bands for a reason: amazing music and amazing live shows! As an Atlanta native, I would love to see Underground Atlanta thrive, and Masquerade has the potential to drive it's success. The rest of the venue is so desserts, except for people who look like they're up to no good. There is going to have to be more security in that area for it to be successful. I'm already dreading going back because our next concert is smaller, so there will be fewer people! Opening band was good. Reminded me of The Maine. The Maine sang all of the new album American Candy plus some older songs. Great album... Great crowd. After the show the Maine came outside to greet the fans, each and every one who was waiting to talk or have a picture taken. Garrett actually sat down in a circle on a corner with some of the fans and talked with them for a long time. What band does that :) John wrote some lyrics on a piece of paper for my daughter for her to have tatooed on her arm. Bunch of great guys.

This is our 5th time seeing the Maine. Not your typical fan as I'm quite a bit older than the normal crowd for this one but I am a fan of great music. My daughter had turned us on to The Maine about six years ago and we attended our first concert because she wasn't old enough to drive at the time. It turns out, we were just blown away. Absolutely one of the best live bands you can see and there songs are just incredible. It's been great watching them grow and mature over the last few years and still keeping a great fan base. I would highly recommend seeing them and we look forward to seeing them the next time they are anywhere close to our area. The only negative for the night this time around were the opening bands. The Technicolors weren't too bad but the other two were absolutely awful too sit through.

I have been a fan since 2007 when they were just beginning. I have to say they are the most talented and awesome people. every time I go see them, they interact with the crowd and put on a good show. They always take time for their fans after the show and before. you can tell they do it for the music and not for the money. probably the most genuine band out there. they never seem annoyed by fans wanting to meet them. if you have never listened to them before do so and go see them because their tickets are cheap and you'll most likely meet them if you know where to go after the show!

The show was amazing -- both the bands and the crowd blew me away. I went specifically for Real Friends, and they put on one of the best performances that I have seen to date. I got the chance to talk to almost all of the bands at one point during the night and they were all so sweet, which really helps to make an experience so much better. I saw them at the Electric Factory, which is a nice venue and offers prime view no matter where you were standing. Everyone in the room new every word to all of the songs, which made it a moving experience.

One of the best shows I have ever been to. Every band - the technicolors, knuckle puck, real friends, and the maine - were incredible. So much talent. This venue, the danforth, was great. There were problems with security afterwards when trying to meet the bands outside, but other than that, it's a really nice place and no matter where you are, you can get a good view. This tour is such a fun show to be in the crowd for, even if there is sweat and pain and tears. I have never been to a show where the Maine did not give 100% effort and energy - they are always ready to give a great performance. Did not disappoint for this show either! Loved the song selection, especially since they played my favorites: Misery, Color, Don't Stop Now, Right Girl, Kennedy Curse (well, I could go on and on). And I love how they vary the song somewhat, so that it's not exactly what you would hear on your CD. That's what it's all about when you go to a live show! Also, they are very engaging with the crowd - not just one song into another. Go see them anytime they are in town!

The Maine is my absolute favorite band and this was the second time I saw them live. Being in such a small, intimate venue was perfect, and they played a setlist that couldn't have been more spot-on. The level of energy in every second of the show was indescribable, and the guys are all so into the music they've created which takes the whole experience to a new level. Awesome show -- took my daughter and we had a blast -- first time at the Masquerade and think it is a great venue for a smaller concert where you want to get up close to the stage and connect with the band (and all the other people crowded in to see them too) -- loved that all the bands stayed after to meet and greet with their fans -- met the lead singer in "From Indian Lakes" -- so sweet -- also met the singer and drummer from "The Maine" -- they were so nice and took time to sign autographs and take photos with everyone. The music was great and these guys are really cool to spend time with the fans after the show! Made us all feel special!

Crowd was shoving a lot between bands for some reason. The Postelles were okay. Mayday Parade was phenomenal as always and The Maine was great too.

I had a lot of fun at this concert. The opening band was not very good and the lead singer had kind of a rocker fit when his mic didn't work. I didn't really like him. Mayday parade was AMAZING! I just wish i knew more of their songs. By the time the Maine came on, I was too close to the speaker and it was just too loud. Sometimes the volume hindered the audience's ability to know what song. But I really liked the 2 main bands.

The bands themselves were excellent. The set list was great! The one problem I have with concerts is the crowd. People were trying push through and mosh. Crazy people!

Wicked fun, good energy although it was very crowded GA, there was literally no room to move around. Although I loved that water was free, definitely helped when we got out of the hot crowd. Could hear mayday parade very well, not so much the maine's vocals. Overall, fun night for sure!

This was my third time seeing Mayday and my second time seeing The Maine and they keep it fresh by changing up the lineup of their shows and that is what makes them 2 amazing bands.

This show. Was awesome. It was so nice to go back home to my city. And to my favorite street in the city. At the venue i always wanted to go to. Its so much nicer than any of the venues I've been at before. Like it was so great security was cool and it was just like…not a hole in the wall The postelles were pretty good. They sounded kinda the same after every song. I enjoyed them. They were kinda like a bunch of bands i had heard before. They were good. just…dull. Then mayday came on. Good lord. It was just perfect. Like the crowd was insane and i like could not breathe a million times and i couldn't tell who's sweat was who's and i loved every second of it. The moshing was crazy and great. everyone was screaming along to Stay and Jamie All Over. Derek kept looking out at us while we were singing and had that smile on. You know the smile i'm talking about. The this is why i get up every morning and do this smile. The thank you so much for supporting my dream smile. It melted my heart a million times over. Then. Good god. Then they played I'd Hate to be You. My song. Possibly my favorite song ever written ever. I was finally able to scream sing it live. And hear that solo. That guitar solo makes me feel like flying. I flew that night. I soared. I'm just so happy that i was finally able to see them live after four years. It was totally worth the wait. Then the Maine. i have never seen a set of theirs that i didn't enjoy all the way through. They didn't disappoint. The slow Like We Did is seriously the prettiest thing i have ever heard in my life. I like…don't even know what to say about their set. It was so good. Just so good. They all looked so happy. It was one of those shows where they were just reminded of why they do this. John was like This one's gonna stay up in my head for a while and it was you know…pretty honoring. I know they say that at a lot of shows but this felt like one of THOSE shows…i was so happy i could be a part of it. It was incredible.

The opening act was surprisingly good! Mayday Parade, as always, seemed a lot better on their CD then in person, plus their sound was sort of off. And then, we have The Maine, who didn't disappoint as usual. However, I was saddened by the fact that neither headliner did an encore, which I didn't understand. Overall, it was a great crowd, & I'm glad I went :)

The Maine is a band that just keeps getting better and better each time I see them. They've got a true rock and roll sound. I just wish they hadn't played at the Best Buy Theater. The venue is just too perfect for a band like them. The Maine needs to play Irving Plaza, or Webster Hall.

The combination of excitement and deep emotion is found at any venue the Maine is at. This is my fifth time seeing them but it is always breathtaking! Even though I had midterms this week, I had to make my way back to NY to see them. They also solidified my relationship with one of my closest friends, Bianca. I don't think they will ever know how much I appreciate the music they make, but I won't stop confessing. Thank you, seriously.

I recommend this tour to anyone up to hear new music. Im a huge fan of The Maine but I never listened to the two other bands before. Im now a listener of Arkells because of this show. Their new album Michigan Left is pretty good. I really wasn't fond of Lydia. They're just not my style. Everything about this show stuck with me. It was fantastic.

Seriously, the greatest concert I have ever been too. Three incredibly talented bands. The Norva is an amazing venue. The Arkells came out after and we got to meet them, Lydia too. Best. Concert. Ever.
