Ali Wong

ALI WONG is a stand-up comedian, writer, and actress living in Los Angeles, CA. With the recent release of her Netflix Special, ALI WONG: BABY COBRA, Ali became the first comedian to record a stand up special seven months pregnant. After SF Weekly selected her as “The Best Comedian of 2009″ and the SF Bay Guardian awarded her “Best of the Bay,” Ali decided that it was finally time to depart her hometown. In 2010, Comedy Central listed her as one of seven “Comics to Watch.

Ali was a treat to watch and had the place laughing for the whole show with all new material. There where no photos allowed but she let the crowd take a pic at the end of her set while she danced to some rap music. She even lifted up her dress to show us her glamorous underwear!

She was pretty raw, so you have to be open to some raunchy laughter. Like what you might expect from more than half the male comedians, Ali Wong (plus her warm-up guys Cory Robinson and Sammy Obeid) had my cheeks hurting within about 30-60 minutes from their very humorous stand-up.

At the last minute, we chose Punchline San Francisco for my after birthday dinner "event." We had not previously seen Ali and watched a quick clip from Jay Leno. SO glad we went! She did NOT disappoint! She is hilariously animated and totally on target with her material. And even though I was celebrating my 47th birthday with my 19 year old son, 21 year old daughter and husband - I had a great time (although there were parts that were "blushingly hilarious!" for me, with my kids being there!). We would all strongly recommend that anyone who has not gone out to see Ali find her at a local venue. You won't be sorry - she's oh so funny! Thanks Ali, for a birthday to remember!!!

Ali's shows is very misogynistic and raunchy. Her depiction of women who are married and caring for their children as 'retired' shows that she's 'never been there and done that.' And in just about every joke the 'punch line' was related to either bathroom humor or sex--especially offensive is her segment on how educated women like abusive sex (oy). I just read an article in the NY Times Sunday magazine about Jerry Seinfeld in which he stated that he works very hard in his show never to resort to this type of humor because it's just an easy, low-class way to get laughs. I think Ail should take this to heart and challenge herself to entertain her audience with material that's not aimed at the mentality and culture of kindergarteners.

Really disappointed with the show. She's had 2 years to write new material, but decided to saturate this gig with jokes from her previous tour years ago - almost 3/4 of the show was made up of repeated jokes. This gig was clearly a cash-grab opportunity and it's sadly starting to become clear that she is incapable of evolving as a comedian. You're better off watching her specials on netflix instead.

My fiance and mother of my child (1 person) had a wonderful night. Ali killed it with an awesome follow up performance to her special Baby Cobra (after baby's arrival). Not a long wait to get in, reasonably priced beverages and comfortable seating. I guessed the code for presale and got us perfects seats in the 4th row.

Ali Wong delivered an amazing show. She is hysterical! The only thing to be aware of is the venue- it s quit early literally an old high school auditorium. I wouldn t recommend sitting in the back or the balcony. But I WOULD recommend seeing Ali Wong, she s a riot!!

Ali Wong & the opener were terrific! Staff was helpful and nice but the theatre needs updating. Bathroom was clean but more are needed. Concession/bar placement is awkward. Seating in balcony has limited view of stage -- depending on who is sitting on front of you. There is plenty of parking on surrounding streets if you are willing to walk a few blocks.

Ali may have looked small on stage, but her personality filled the theater to the gills. Her opening act was also very good and engaging. Really could not have asked for a better show from them. I am excited for her special! The venue itself was a little disappointing. I had to crane my neck and lean forward to see the performers. Had they been put a little bit further back on the stage, everyone could have seen them. Stand-up comedy is so much more than what they say. Ali is a very active comedian!

She's back to her vulgar self haha. Love her references! A bit of repeat from her guest appearance at Dave Chappelle Radio City Hall show but she's still a riot. Giving it 4 stars because venue was not great. The theater was super warm because it wasn't air conditioned on a 75 degree night. The crowd made it feel like 85. Love that her husband was selling postera at the end of the show.

Ali was great. Very funny and exactly what I expected. The Chevalier Theatre is terrible and I will not be returning. As she said in the show, what's up with this haunted gymnasium theater. The seats were very uncomfortable. Sightlines in the balcony were weird. The bathroom lines were awful. And most importantly, it was uncomfortably hot in the theatre. If they have air conditioning, it wasn't getting the job done. I will avoid the Chevalier at all cost!

Ali Wong had us laughing from beginning to end! Our seats in the orchestra were great and not that expensive($50 each). The only minor issue was the parking, the venue would really benefit to have more people helping with the line, ittook 30 minutes just to get out of our car.

Ali Wong was awesome. She brought so much energy to the stage and performed a great set. The venue is tricky when getting drinks because of the small space so lines often wrap around and it's crowded. Overall though, it's a beautiful and fun space to be.

I LOVED IT!!! I appreciate the ticket being affordable, well the ones in the balcony section. I enjoyed the opening act and transitioning to Ali herself. I'm so glad that she is was amazing enough to come to Minneapolis. She's the fort woman I've ever fan curled over . She's so amazing!!! Come back for another one. I also love how she used humor to address real life things that are happening in the world, as well as part of society. It was something interesting I caught on to as I was watching the show.

There were several moments like that at this show, but to be honest, she spent wayyy to much time talking about pregnancy/giving birth. She kept us laughing nonstop through her entire act. She was on fire and especially considering this was her eighth sold out show in a row, her energy levels were incredible. First time seeing her live and probably the only ones who had not seen her Baby Cobra special. This is a lack we plan to correct soon. I just wish we could've sat closer so we could see her face. The Masonic is an awfully big venue for comedy, but somehow, with Ali, it worked. Next time binoculars.

We had no idea who Ali Wong was before her netflix special. But after watching we knew we HAD to see her live. Her jokes are 98% about motherhood and being a new mom. The rest were jokes about anal and penises haha. She is raunchy and blunt. That's not everybody's style, but we had a good time. Her opening act Kevin was also hilarious! Minus one star because we felt the show was so short!

Strap in when you go to see Ali. She's a strong female comic -- emphasis on the strong female. (If you have feelings of inadequacy, save your money.) She tells tales of the "joys" of motherhood, life as an Asian, her relationships with her mom and husband. You'll laugh so much, your cheeks will hurt! She's definitely a 21 and older comedian. If you haven't already, be sure to watch her Netflix special: Baby Cobra. I'd definitely see her again. NO CELL PHONE pics, videos, etc. (as with most comics) but she did encourage us to take pics at the end of her show -- she vamped up and down the stage! So funny.
