GHOST

GHOST IN CONCERT: When it comes to blood-curdling black metal spectacle, few bands hold a candle to Swedish rockers GHOST. Taking the stage in skull makeup, grim reaper robes, and a motley assortment of demonic masks, GHOST leads fans on an unflinching tour of the underworld, unleashing hard-hitting yet melodic tunes like "Cirice" and "He Is" with their signature doom-laden pomp and circumstance. Frontman Papa Emeritas III's spooky croon recalls a young Ozzy Osbourne, and the rest of the band—known simply as the Nameless Ghouls—furthers the comparison, kicking out their psychedelic rock-influenced sound with the tightness and precision of metal legends like Black Sabbath. It's not for the faint of heart, but that's precisely the point—and GHOST's legions of loyal fans wouldn't have it any other way.

Ghost rituals (concerts) are always unforgettable. This particular Asheville gig was no exception. I printed VIP tickets for my son and I, and set off on a 3-hour drive to the venue. The US Cellular Center was very easy to find via Google maps and the parking deck was right next to the venue. We waited for early VIP access meeting fans who became friends, and our printed tickets were faultless in allowing us in early to collect a bag of Ghost swag. Concession prices were surprisingly MUCH less costly than the larger arenas and amphitheaters we are used to! Clean venue, excellent sound quality, and Ghost performed a fantastic show! Highly recommended band, venue, and thank you Ticketmaster!

The Grammy award winning darkish metal band, Ghost, arouse from the depths of Hell to burn down the Thomas Wolfe Auditorium on a semi-stormy evening this day in the year of our Lord 2018 of May 22. For the price you couldn't beat it. Playing a set of almost 3 hours and tearing it up all night long. The auidence was so diverse from old ass people with O2 tanks to babies, yes I said babies well maybe they were sacrifices lol. Anyways, after the concert, lead singer Tobias talked with anyone that wanted to talk and signed everything the fans wanted. What a down to Earth very humble man!! Even some of the Nameless Ghouls came out to talk. Hands down the Best show I ever seen that was billed in a sit down theather. It's not we have Ghost, we need Ghost to come back again soon. If you get a chance, go see them on tour now!!!

Awesome venue setting for Ghost to play. I was able to see and enjoy everything. Sound was perfect. Seating was great. 4 out of 5 because the bathrooms weren t the best. The venue was turning people away in face paint which is something cool you do to go see Ghost. Even children were being turned away. People who paid in advance to see Ghost. Some drove hours. If there s a venue policy y all should specify especially for events that are theatrical and animated like this.

I had been waiting to see Ghost on their own headlining tour, since I discovered their music. They did not disappoint in the least. Great showmanship, great music and an all around good time. I was bummed to see that the venue left tables in the middle of the floor and half the audience was sitting. You couldn't move closer to the stage if you wanted to. That is almost unheard of at any heavy metal concert I have ever been to. Next time, I hope to catch them at a venue that knows how to host such an event. King Dude was a great opener as well.

These guys truly know how to put on a great show! I am a huge Pink Floyd fan, and it shows they are too. They are fantastic musicians, and you can't look away when they are on stage. Just like Pink Floyd did. I highly recommend this show to anyone with an open mind. In fact, I am a "born-again" Christian, and I still love their music. As their interviews, its fun to pretend you are worshiping the devil for and hour and a half. And no, I don't feel any guilt for this, and I've not magically lost my Christian-ness. Rant aside, go see these guys!

I don't attend too many metal shows anymore, but I was a big fan of the genre in the 80's... everything ranging from Blue Oyster Cult to Iron Maiden. Ironically, that's exactly what Ghost reminds me of... a blend of the two. Ghost's sound incorporates everything from choppy Maiden-like riffs & rumbling bass lines to spookier, keys-driven melodies with soaring harmonies akin to BOC. Their record is very good, but their live show is quite the spectacle. Sonically, the rawness of the tracks live only makes them stronger, though they don't stray too far from their studio polish. The Nameless Ghouls are quite adept players & Papa Emeritus commands the stage like few others. The capacity crowd frequenting one of NYC's finest venues ate it up, and the fairly short set of probably right around an hour or so left everyone wanting more. Clearly, they're a band on the way up & it was great to see them in a venue that only holds 500... those days won't last much longer. A gimmick, perhaps, but maybe the most entertaining aspect of their ascent (coming from the sidelines) is the incredible disdain they draw from critics... who clearly don't get the joke. Not many bands have the hooks these guys do, and they don't apologize for it. When you also have a stage show that takes the show to an entirely new level, it's hard to imagine much holding them back from achieving far greater success in the future.

Great show, was looking forward to seeing Ghost, especially after they had to cancel their Philly show at the Troc. on Dec. 1 due to visa issues. With only one album out, it was a short concert, but quite enjoyable!!!. Starting with a cool intro track the Ghouls take the smoky stage, as this fades they break out into Genesis which then segues into Con Clavi Con Dio into Elizabeth before they break. Beautiful sound for the whole show, Papa Emeritus was in top form, controlling the singing crowd. At one point telling the crowd: "You Overwhelm Us". Openers Ancient Wisdom were fine, just not into the growly voice. Really surprised by Blood Ceremony's set, having seen them online I was meh about them, but I really liked their set. Great nite out, super venue for shows, CUDOS to ALL!!!

The show was awesome! Quick entry into the show at the venue, beer was very reasonably priced, nice staff, and very minimal delay for setup between opening band and ghost. I didn't care for King dude (opening band) but they barely played 30 min which was good. Ghost's performance was fantastic and everything I expected and more. I hope to see them in the future. The opening act King Dude was good, kind of folky satanic rock. If Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan had a satanic problem child...it's this guy! Ghost was awesome! What a polished and thoroughly enjoyable show. Not a lot of unnecessary banter with the crowd (which I abhor). Very passionate players as well and Papa Emeritus II is a killer front man. I will be seeing them again. One note: I took my 17 year old son which meant I had to buy a beer and sit in a different section, drink it and then join my son again in the under age section. What a ridiculous policy!

Ghost is by far one of the best post 80s ish metal bands! I wished they had come into my life way before! It only takes one time to fall in love with them! Their music and theatrical performance that accompanies are amazing!! The only bad thing about their shows is the ending! It s always too soon to end! Now.... about the venue..... not the most organized and they don t let you move out of your asigned seat and the worse part is that they don t allow face paint or masks which to me is a huge down side. That s the only reason why I m giving it 3 stars! Anyways..... Ghost will always get 5+ stars Venue gets 3 :( :/

Let me start by saying that this was not an issue with Ghost! They were spot on! However, my wife and I felt the auditorium was old and really needs new flooring and seating. The band played a part of an instrumental song and and there was some sub-bass coming from the speakers and the floor was literally shaking like it was about to give at any moment. Also I have to complain that the seats where we were sitting we not the fold down seats, they were chairs that were zip tied together leaving everyone in the first 3 center rows crowded together and invading each others personal space.

This was the first time I've had the opportunity to see Ghost. If I could've swung it, I would've followed them to the Tennessee shows to see it again! The sound, lights, and length of the show was fantastic. Cardinal Copia is a force to be reckoned with on stage. He's so engaging that even in the balcony seats I felt like I was in the pit. Perfect mix of songs from their entire catalog. Do keep in mind if you attend a show at Thomas Wolfe/Asheville US Cellular Center, you cannot wear face paint or masks for safety precautions. As a Fan of Ghost who had yet to see them play live, I had very high expectations. Those expectations were met to the point where the almost 2 hour long show appeared too short for me. Doors opened after 8, rather than at 7:30. LONG lines, never had that experience before at venue. Ghost was awesome as always, but sound was a little off (not enough vocals). My fourth time seeing the band (once a year). This little band now has a big following. Sad to think they will start filling bigger venues, and concerts will be less intimate. Personal opinions: didn't care for acoustic number, like new masks on Nameless Ghouls, didn't like to see Papa shed the traditional garb for the new outfit.

They only have two albums, but they played almost all of their songs, and they sound just like the studio versions. They played four or five encores, and the crowd went wild. If you're a fan, I highly recommend seeing them live.

Best show I have seen since Leonard Cohen. Loved everything about the Civic and hope to see shows there for a long time to come. in Papa we trust.

Ghost is a great band to see live. A few of the songs sound a lot better live than recorded. The venue has great acoustics and was easy to navigate. I'd go back.
