Carole King

Carole King

An iconic singer/songwriter, Carole King's career began in the 1950s, and she has been active in the music scene ever since, most recently using her musical talent to support various philanthropic causes ranging from the protection of wild horses to raising money for victims of gun violence. Known for occasionally touring with fellow troubadour James Taylor, King treats ticket buyers to unforgettable experiences enriched by her strong, clear voice, dynamic personality and sometimes even a high-tech rotating stage. She most recently released, "I Believe In Loving You," an iTunes-exclusive single co-written with Hal David, in May 2013. King began collaborating with her songwriting partner, Gerry Goffin, throughout the 1960s, and together they penned songs that were eventually sang by musical superstars, such as The Beatles and Aretha Franklin.

This show was WAY better than we expected. James Taylor and Carole King were great--but we expected that. The surprises were the sidemen [all fantastic], the other singers [also great] and the production. The stage was round and turned slowly part of the time. Images of the concert were displayed on 8 flat screens. Then there was a round screen between the flats screens where they showed old photos of Taylor, King and members of the band. At one point they showed images of old light shows. The Scottrade Center in St. Louis is a hockey arena but it worked great for this show.My photo is pretty poor but does give you an idea of the stage setup. The sound was fantastic.

I felt privledged to attend the Carole King/James Taylor concert in St. Louis last night. They blended many of their older songs and the chemistry of their long-term friendship was quite evident. It was very touching, entertaining, and a concert I will remember for many, many years to come. Thanks to both Carole and James for a wonderful concert!!!

Even after all these year, these two artists are making music that is dedicated, personal, and genuine. Vocally they're terrific and the band and other guest musicians are top notch. You will have an incredibly rewarding experience the memory of which will last a lifetime.

Carole King and James Taylor sounded like they did in the 1970's only better because they played songs that came after that decade. Both were in top form and sounded as if their voices have not been affected with the passage of time. Watching and listening, I felt the way I did when each song was first released. Could not recommend this concert with more enthusiasm!

I was a little skeptical, wondering how they would sound, hoping they were not just another 60s and 70s group looking for a comeback. Well, they have not lost a step. That was one of, if not he best, concerts I have ever been to. James Taylor's smooth voice and guitar playying are soooooo soothing. Carole King has not lost a thing, SHE ROCKED.

I knew it would be a special concert because of their years of great music but it was their obvious love for music and performing that made it even sweeter. It was a joy just watching these true friends spill out love for each other and for the audience.

It was a great show from beginning to end! The setlist was well-balanced with an equal amount of songs from both James Taylor and Carole King, including some cuts they have collaborated on together over the years. There was also a good mix of song tempos, with several quiet guitar/piano tunes, and many full band numbers that got you out of your seat! Overall an incredible experience! Highly Recommended!!!

Carole King and James Taylor proved they could "rock out" and worked together seamlessly and beautifully surrounded by generations of fans. There songs poetic and there singing angelic. What great American Icons these two have become. There band members are true professionals whom enriched the show with simplicity and flare all working together to bring a dramatic night for the crowds. I will cherish this night.

First...I don't understand why all big arena concerts aren't in the round. The view from our seats was great- beyond expectations, and MSG was ALMOST intimate! Unbelievable. Next- Carole King is 68....how does she do this??? She sounds like she did 40 years ago and is stomping around on 5" stiletto heels that would kill a woman half her age! James Taylor was great- humble and sounded amazing. The set list was non stop familiar songs, with just enough banter and went on for 3 hours- they could have kept going for another 3 hours and still not been finished. WHAT A GREAT EVENING!!!!!

The energy was palpable, the music amazing, everything was perfect. It was nice that James deviated from his predictable sets that he has given us over the past few years, and we got to hear some "deeper cuts" like Machine Gun Kelly . Carol King is still so rockin' - she was a gem and so much fun! Arnold McCuller is always a bonus, and his contribution to "Shower the People" was amazing, as always.

This show was so great. Although we were in the large Mohegan Sun arena, it seemed like it was a close and personal concert. Every seat in the house had a great view since it was presented in the round. The acoustics were fantastic and every song brought you back to a memory of a time in your life...be it good or bad. Carol and James have such a wonderful and deep friendship. It is certainly evident in the way the talk to each other and about each other. I really felt that I was witnessing something very special!

Carole King and James Taylor....What can I say??? This was one of the most amazing concerts I have been to. They both rocked the stage with old songs and new. There was so much emotion and so many feelings on that stage that it carried into the audience. Carole's voice has not changed a bit, she was so awesome that she got at least four standing ovations. To see the two of them on stage like that was just AMAZING!!!!!

The concert was fantastic. Carole and James sounded great together, and her piano and his guitar sounded amazingly wonderful together as well even better than you would imagine. It s such a pleasure to go to a concert where the performers simply come out onto the stage and perform the music, without lasers, fire coming out of the stage, singers descending from the ceiling on a trapeze, bizarre costumes, etc. This is an event where the audience is there to love and hear the two stars, without all the special effects and distracting nonsense. It s all about the music and seeing these two superstars (who don t act liked hyped-up superstars, but rather like modest regular people) perform a bunch of their iconic songs together, and that is absolutely enough! The show is about 2.5 hours of great music from the 70 s. Very appreciate enthusiastic crowd, averaging in their 50 s as you might expect. Every time James would perform one of his huge songs, Carole would come right back with one of hers, and vice versa, and it was just amazing to hear one great familiar soundtrack of our lives after another, hear them occasionally singing the other s song, backing each other up, etc. They are both energetic, fun, and really try as best they can given the large performance venue to connect with the audience. It s great hearing all their hits from the 70's that you know and love; I guess that s the nice thing about seeing two people that aren t trying to sell a new record with songs we don t know. The audience knows and loves 90%+ of the songs they sung. This concert exceeded my expectations. I have a very good 8-speaker sound system in my car, and listing to a few James Taylor songs on the way home after the concert it was remarkable how flat and dull it sounded to having just come from the concert. I also saw the PBS Troubadour Reunion show recently, and it just doesn t capture what it is really like to see these 2 together on a stage.

Seeing Carole King or James Taylor is always a treat...seeing them together along with their career band (Danny Kortchmar, Russ Kunkel, and Lee Sklar) and their wonderfully talented and inspired singers (Arnold McCuller, Kate Markowitz, and Andrea Zonn), PLUS keyboardist/accordion/harmonica virtuoso Robbie Kondor is unbelievable! This rates as an all-time great and special performance/concert/event/tour...truly unique and as wonderful as the thousands of reviews have stated...without question, my favorite concert of all time! The great moments kept coming all night - 2.5 hours of some of the greatest pop, rock and folk songs ever written, with performances that were as good as one will ever experience (I am confident that each would say this was one of their best performances). PERFECT in every way and the connection between the crowd and performers really made a difference to the performers - there were emotional moments on stage and in the audience - everyone's memories were in high gear (and there were several like myself whose memory is no doubt not up to what it used to be!). Sold-out enthused and enthralled crowd was involved and the stage setting was inspired without resorting to over the top A/V F/X. We had very good Verizon Center seats on row N in the "100s" side section at it was perfect - but try to get the "candle-lit" table seats that surround the stage if possible as it will reward you with a unique experience for large auditorium concert! Rotating in the round stage affords almost everyone a great view. Again, grab tickets before the tour is over - two of America's greatest song writers and performers along with original band members, who all sound as good and better in some ways than when they originally recorded their all time great songs... ...it will be hard to top this, and being the great individuals they are makes it all the more special. I am certain that these artists would love for the tour to not end\u2026families and commitments await, but I know the new and old fans and special friends who came out to experience this tour, and see Carole and James and the great supporting cast in front and behind the scenes will never forget this!

This was an unforgettable experience for someone like me who grew up with these singer/songwriters. They are at the top of their game; their voices and performances have been seasoned with time. All of the performers were wonderful (James and Carole, Russ Kunkel on drums, Lee Sklar on bass, Danny "Kootch" Kortchmar on electric, Arnold McCuller and Kate Markowitz singing backup, and a fine guest keyboard player so Carole could move around and also play guitar at times). The stage was a huge, raised circular platform that rotated slowly throughout the performance; first counterclockwise and then clockwise. There were JumboTron screens above the stage and the setting was such that there really were no bad seats in the house. Even though the audience was very enthusiastic and it was a large venue, the sound was so finely-tuned that you could easily hear all the great harmony - no static, no echoes, no feedback...just clear, wonderful music. Each person on stage obviously was having a great time doing this tour -- it showed in the quality of the music, in their facial expressions, their humor and the way they moved around, interacting with the audience and with each other. If you were a young adult in the late 60s or 70s (or even if you weren't) ... DON'T MISS THIS ONE!!!!!!!! IT'LL NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!

My friend and I went to the 6/610 show in Tampa. We had floor seats near the back of the section but the view was fine thanks to the rotating theater-in-the-round stage. Well-chosen set list and outstanding performances from the first note. James is such a consummate performer and Carole is his perfect complement on stage. They took turns singing their own songs, dueted on her songs and his songs (You've Got A Friend will always be my favorite) and all accompanied by the best group of musicians on piano (Robbie Kondor), bass (Leland Sklar), drums (Russ Kunkel), and guitar (Danny Kortchmar). Backing vocals were provided by Arnold McCuller and Kate Markowitz. It was easily the best concert I've ever seen and such a wonderful night of laughter, a few tears and a reminder of what truly excellent music is all about!! I had obtained backstage passes and got to meet James after the concert - truly icing on the cake and a great end to a night I'll never forget!!!

Seeing James Taylor has been a dream of mine for many years. My husband gave me two tickets for Valentine's Day, so I waitied four months for this wonderful evening. The concert far exceeded my expectations! After all these years, James Taylor and Carole King are still incredible performers! They sang every song you could ever hope to hear them sing! There were moments when you could hear the entire audience singing along because they knew every word of the song. One thing that surprised me was just how funny and entertaining JT was! Although Carole King did speak occasionally, he was the one who did most of the talking and he entertained us with his very dry and understated sense of humor. Despite both being in their 60's, their voices both sounded amazing, and they were full of energy.....all over the stage.

I'm a long time James Taylor fan, and have always liked Carole King too. This was my fifth time seeing him, first time for her. They were GREAT together!! Loved the music and all the old songs they played. The acoustics in the St Times Pete Forum were NOT good and there was this huge bundle of wires hanging from ceiling to floor that was obstructing our view a little bit. Oh, and the tshirts were a little pricey (to say the least!) All in all - really enjoyed it!

I have been to probably 1000's of concerts over the years and many great ones. The James Taylor / Carole King show topped them all!!! This show was by far the best. From the way the stage was set up in the round to the large screens above the stage to the musicians that played back up to the lighting, and the pictures of their younger days shown at different times during the show. From start to finish, 3 hours, it was an emotional concert. I, as many/most others there, grew up with this music. To see it played live by these superb performers was an amazing experience. I felt like I was seeing old friends that I grew up with and lost touch. Their music was so important and so powerful for me growing up, that it was like going home again. Thank you James Taylor and Carole King for all of the memories, especially the most recent one, last night in Tampa, Florida.

Close your eyes and listen...remember being a teenager, or a little older and listening to Carole King's Tapestry album on your record player, or James Taylor's Mud Slide Slim..That is exactly how this concert made me feel last night. Tears of joy streaked down my face through the first few songs. Carole's voice is just as pure and powerful as it was years ago, and she has aged into a beautiful swan!! James Taylor...is still that shy country boy who can tell his stories through his music, his voice was so mellow. Both of them can dance and rock on stage as if they were teenagers themselves! The interaction between Carole and James was so deep with passion and love for each other, you can see why they are so intuned to each other's music.

The concert was amazing, my daughter and I went together, our first mother and daughter outing in a long time. We both set there in awe of how the two sounded just like they did back in their younger days. We talk about how much enthusiasm they put in each song and how much time and effort must have been put into this show, too play that long and not just playing but singing and dancing. We found James Taylor very humorous and charming. Carole King was not only beautiful and fantastic, she was even better live than on her albums. All in all we had a very amazing and rememberable evening to share. THANK YOU!

I've seen JT several times...James always has it down pat. His voice floats and last night with Carole King......both of their voices floated. Can you say harmony ?? !! Loved the round stage that moved around. It made it so everyone was more connected to the performance and had a great view of them. They looked relaxed and genuinely happy to be there together. They alternated songs and complemented each other by singing or playing piano or guitar. They played most of their best songs and talked to the audience between songs which also made it a more intimate type performance. They are both so down to earth that it's heartwarming. If you are a fan of either one or both..It's a must see. You won't be disappointed.

Carole King and James Taylor have only improved with age!! This had to be the best concert I've ever attended! Their voices were beautiful, their piano and guitar were amazing, and the back-up singers, bass player, lead guitar, drummer, etc. were excellent. James Taylor is very funny, and the warmth between JT and CK was lovely. You can tell that they truly like, respect, and admire each other. The playlist was awesome! They each have so many well known songs and they didn't disappoint. They were true to their original versions and the audience knew every word. The center stage was fantastic and it rotated so that everyone got to see them head-on regularly throughout the concert, and when they weren't in front, the screens were awesome. Saw Carole King/James Taylor at MSG on Wed night, June 30th. Everything about the show was great: the pacing, the lighting, the SOUND, the stage setup, the huge video screens, and of course, the MUSIC. They sang every tune i would have wanted them to sing, and i found myself moved to tears (in my eyes) when they sang Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow , and You ve Got a Friend . Taylor was funny and engaging with his comments, and they both sounded tremendous, esp when they harmonized together and with the back-up singers. I had forgotten how many incredible songs Carole King composed, but she brought back great memories with her performance last night.

I thoroughly enjoyed this concert from the start to the end. There was a song or two that I wished to hear. But over all it was "Great"

Awesome show! James, as always, is cool and witty, his voice as soothing and mellow as ever, and his guitar picking so precise. Carole was a surprise - what a performer, and especially when not at the piano. She brought the house down with "(You Make Me Feel Like a) Natural Woman" and "I Feel the Earth Move," and strapped on a guitar for a lively "Smackwater Jack." Especially enjoyed how her "Song of Long Ago" segued into his "Long Ago and Far Away," and again her upbeat "Beautiful" was followed by his feel-good "Shower the People."What really touched me was the true respect, gratitude and affection they show one another - and that affection, graciousness and authenticity embraces the audience. Carole and James are genuine national treasures.

What a show! It delivered in everyway you could wish. Covering all of their classic songs, individually and together, it was an evening to enjoy and remember all summer. Prolific song writer, Carole King (68) has so much energy, doing a dance number during "I Feel the Earth Move Under My Feet". James Taylor was his classic, solid self - making you remember all the reasons you love his music. My 18 year old daughter was thrilled, as she enjoyed every song and the whole experience.

Can't imagine any performers I would rather have seen together--both so talented, having contributed so much to the world of music over the years. They seemed like they were happy to be in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, which might have been a stretch, but they made it. Audience was loving and enthusiastic, which is what a performer wants, wherever it is. Show was varied, good pace, good mix of songs, good audience inclusion. These are master performers, and they did their job wonderfully, especially considering the length of this tour. Stage musicians and back-up singers were the best in the business; couldn't have asked for more. So glad to have been there!

I grew up on the music of the 60's & 70's. When the Shirelles sang Tonights the Night, and Aretha sang Natural Woman, I was using a hairbrush in front of the mirror, singing. Written of course by Carole & then husband Gerry Goffen. When Carole began recording her songs herself, I was right there too. James Taylor? Young, handsome, talented, I was in love! In love with the music and him! So of course when they did their reunion tour I had to be there! It was a dream come true! They didn't disappoint. Their voices clear and unchanged, the music, just as remembered! It was unbelievable! It was worth the two hour trip and more! One of the best concerts I've seen, and the most nostalgic!

This night was everything I hoped it would be and more. They are unmatched in their combined talents and would give anything to see them again. I could have sat there for hours and just listened and sang along. They seem ageless...So much energy and yet so calm. It's hard to describe. Just timeless. Glad I finally got to see them, as I have loved them all of my life. Their music somehow touches everyone...Amazing.

The voice of two old friends who once resonated from the speaker of my 66 Chevy in both acts of romance and merriment. Fire and Rain to Sweet Baby James. Togetherness in Up on the Room. The crowd powerlessly sang along with Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow Mercilessly haunting us with songs that bring memories of love that never fully died. It ended with the crowd on its feet clapping and dancing. Brought back youthful memories of a simpler time of a single speaker AM radio. They did not disappoint and did their most memorable songs with a youthful passion. Sounded exactly like the first ime I heard them in younger days.

A dream concert! They are wonderful together, sang all the old songs for all of the children of the 60's and 70's. For us, I don't think it could have been any better. They are both wonderful performers, who smile throughout, OBVIOUSLY LOVING what they do!

What a terrific show James and Carole put on at the Verizon Center on June 23. I was not surprised by the musicianship, but the energy and playfulness of the show was great, especially since the show has a standard set list and standard introductions to songs (complete with pre-programmed pictures on a revolving rear projection screen). The band, as one might expect given the top notch musicians who have played together off and on for 40 years was spectacular. This was one of those rare shows where the lack of surprises in the set list and the "greatest hits" nature of the songs played did not diminish the show one bit! I highly recommend catching the show if you get the chance.

This was like two old friends playing some songs in your living room. Great set with the stage in the round and lots of video screens. They could have played another 2 hours and no one would have left, and they still wouldn't have played everythig I wanted to hear.

I have always loved both of these singers, they were even better together! I've seen James Taylor before at Jones Beach, but I have wanted to see Carole King for at least 35 years, she was everything I had hoped she'd be, what a great show!

Stand alone concert by either, and your expecting a great show. Put the 2 together, and the expectation of a great show rises exponentially, which some might be a little unfair. But fear not, James and Carol do not disappoint. They had fun on that stage, and everyone all the way up to the rafters was feeling it right there with them. I've been to shows with the double headliners, and they do a good job, most recently Michael MacDonald and Boz Scaggs, who individually were great, but added nothing to the other. Not the case here. Ms. King and Mr. Taylor belonged on that stage together, and it was as if they have been touring together for the last 30 years. They played together, they played their own stuff, they sang back up for each other...it was perfect. JT joked that the original setlist for this tour would have had the show at 8 hours, well, the MSG crowd would have loved every minute of it. They had us out by 10:40ish, but the show started pretty close to the 8:00 ticket time, so dont be late!

Carole King and James Taylor were fun to watch. They were full of life and sounded as good as ever. I was under the weather and almost didn't go, but I am so glad I didn't skip it. Carole King and James Taylor were fabulous last night at MSG. I think the venue is entirely too big to really get into the concert but the large screens certainly helped. Their humor, enthusiasm, energy, and obvious talent made this a very special evening.

A celebration of two master songwriters and fantastic friends and we had the best seats in the venue. We felt privileged to be there, I felt as though I was in their living rooms and I was listening to a private concert. What a surprisingly in-th -round concert, I cried and hugged my partner and relived some of my favorite memories. I shall go back home to Montana and plan a trip to Sun Valley to see these amazing musicians. Danny Korthchmar, Leland Sklar, Russell Kunkel and the amazing back up singers. Lucky me.

I've been a fan of both since the early albums and have wished for a long time for this concert with the original band members. I was thrilled - by far exceded my expectations. The songs were fresh, vocals and music tight, delivered with heart and sincerity. There seemed to be great joy on stage with musicians and vocalists playing off of one another - smiles were exchanged frequently. No big egos - just great, great music. As a crowd, we were delighted!! There were 4 or more standing ovations during the concert and two call backs for encores. I'm checking this one off of my bucket list hoping to hang on to the feelings and memories for many years to come.

James Taylor started it out by explaining the tour happened "because the original band was available!" And then summed it up when he and Carole King came back onto the stage for their encore and said, "Thanks all you babies" referring to all the baby boomers filling San Jose's HP Pavilion. A nearly perfect presentation (video played during Gone To Carolina was NOT of N.C. scenery!) with great sound, banter amongst the performers and appreciation of the fans present. Loved it!

Very enjoyable, a good show. I believe that we were in temporary seating, but that made it so that people were less apt to get up to go somewhere, since there was not much in the way of foot room. The sound was good too!

It just sucked. They were in the round so you could only see them 1/4 of the time. Ended up watching the big screens more than them. I would really be pissed if I paid big bucks to sit up front. The sound was lousy being projected 360 degrees from the center of the arena so you got it from all directions. The fat lady next to us sang along loudly with every song and started to smell like a fat lady halfway through the concert.

My partner and I went to see this concert it was absolutely outstanding. The way these two sing and move together is unbelievable. I saw these two in concert back in the late 70's and they still gave me goose bumps. CK has such a way of belting out those notes, and JT is so soft, they make a perfect pair. Carole King is such a gifted song writer and performer

I actually bought the tix for Mother's/Father's Day. I didn't go to the show, since tix were $106.50 each after tax and surcharges and I also had to work. Mom and Step Dad loved it though. A great place to see a show! I was worried about their view when I bought the tix, The seats were lower level, but on the left side, close to the rear of the stage, I wasn't sure, But when they got home, I found out the stage spins, so everyone gets a great view, I can only imagine JT and CK playing that night. Would have brought back some great memories of shows I've been to.

I am from the Philippines and just happened to watch your concert in St. Louis. It was really a good concert with Taylor and King taking turns in singing their famous songs. I love the variety and it was so good to hear them sing the song "You've got a friend". I always love that song and to see them perform the song together was an experience in a lifetime for me. Congratulations to James Taylor and Carole King. They are great and I love them!

This concert was by far the best I have ever been to. The acoustics were flawless, the band was phenomenal, and the venue surprisingly intimate despite the size of the audience. What a wonderful concert Carole King and James Taylor gave us Saturday night (7/10)! One of the best concerts we've been to EVER (and we have been to a few dozen). All the music, sound, and pictures were perfect and I will remember it as long as I am given the gift of memories . . . made me feel like a high school kid again hearing all those wonderful songs. A dazzeling nearly flawless performance by two consumate professionals. UInfortunately the performances were often completely obscured by the pyrotechnics and deafening sound system. These two, but especially Taylor, rely on the details, the fine nuances of his performance to convey the rich message of his music and lyrics. This message was frequently obliterated by the rock concert production values. Whoever thought up the bright idea of a revolving stage should be forced to personally refund two thirds of everyone's ticket price because the revolving stage meant that no one saw more that about one third of the concert. The other two thirds of the time the performers were either in profile or over in the next county someplace with their backs turned. I was very disappointed. It should be said, however, that the majority of the audience apparently loved it.

Never saw either James or Carole live before and sorry I missed all the previous performances. Carole King's Tapestry album was the first one I bought after receiving my first stereo in about 1972. She sounds even better in 2010--not bad for 68!!!! They were both absolutely fabulous in my book--would go back in heartbeat and spend top dollar for the seats by the stage--enjoyed it immensely!!!!! Was wonderful to be in a crowd that was more involved with the show than with concessions and restroom visits!! No constant up and down ( and we had aisle seats) and no constant talking around us--WONDERFUL!!!!
