Kina Grannis is always naturally beautiful, down-to-earth, and vocally mind-blowing. Her voice is smooth, soothing, clear, and wrought with genuine emotion; a blend of melancholy and hope. A person can't help, but, to smile after hearing her perform. Amazingly enough, she sounds just as great, if not better live than her studio recordings. Keith, her equally smooth and humble cello player made a nice addition to her set/the show. Jesse, a.k.a. "Imaginary Friend" also meshes very well with Kina's sound. Imaginary Friend is almost the male equivalent of Kina. His sound is somewhat like a John Mayer meats Coldplay. My only complaint was some of the staff members of the venue (Paradise Rock Club) were rude, apathetic, and pushy, especially, for an all-ages event. These certain individuals did not represent the artist(s)/musicians well.

My friend and I went to her concert last year and it was awesome! We had a meet and greet after her show but I heard that you have to pay extra for her upcoming In your arms world tour.

Kina was great. She played an hour set of songs from her album to a very enthusiastic audience. We had a wonderful time. She stayed for a meet-and-greet and took the time to talk to everyone and sign items and take pictures. Imaginary Friend opened up for Kina and was very good too.

Jesse and kina grannis had a magnificent performance. The only downside to it was people towards the back of the venue were talking and loud. Interrupting on occasions the performers. The House of blues personnel did nothing to quiet the crowd down. It was getting annoying to other guests as well. That was the only negative part about it. Hopefully future performers sing at another venue cause house of blues sucked

This show was fantastic. Only about 50 people so very intimate and possibly the only chance to see her at this level. Next year she'll be too big for this venue. The opener, Imaginary Friend, was a great singer songwriter with a fantastic voice. You should definitely check him out on iTunes and watch for him live. It was the perfect intro for Kina. Kina's "Stairwells" translates very easily to solo acoustic guitar and vocals. Her performance, although stripped down, never seemed lacking any of the album's instrumentation. It was nice to hear some newer material mixed in with the old. Her encore included a cover of "Gangter's Paradise" which wasn't great for me. Comical sure, but if she was going for an attention grabber, maybe "Toy Soldiers" by Martika or "Don't Speak" by No Doubt. Those would fulfill the "fun factor" while showcasing her incredible vocal talent. Just my opinion. The only downer was the 3 girls who apparently took a wrong turn on their way to see Ke$ha and somehow ended up standing directly in front of the stage, blocking everyones view, and talking loudly during both sets, while drinking and hugging each other.

Kina Grannis is AMAZING! She is one of those artists that is even better live than on recordings. The smaller venue meant an intimate performance, which made the experience even more awesome.

I've never been to a small venue before... but I'm glad I decided to go. I've been following Kina for years now ever since I came by her Youtube page one day and instantly fell for her original songs and her soothing voice. She really knows how to win a crowd over, her songs were sung with such passion and she even encouraged the crowd to sing along. Some artists need vocal assistance and do not sound the same live as they would in music videos and radio but Kina sounded just like she would if I as listening to my MP3 player. She joked in between songs which made the experience more intimate. After the show she stayed behind and chit-chatted with all her fans, even taking pics with everyone who waited behind. She's such an amazingly nice person. Bottom line I recommend her to anyone who is looking to see real talent on display. I saw a lot of couples who enjoyed themselves so if you're looking for a good date night then this is highly recommended. I can't praise her enough, If I could give her ten stars I would!

It's the 4th of her shows I've attended, each one more impressive than the last. Once again singing beautifully, her rare talent was surpassed only by her sincerity when she let us in close to hear stories behind her songs, her new ukulele and her journey as a singer-songwriter. Set in the gorgeous, historic El Rey, Kina's songs came to life with her wonderful band, highlighted by Keith Tutt, II on cello. If you have a chance to see her, don't miss it. Whether she's playing a solo acoustic set or with full band, Kina makes each show special. If her family is in attendance stick around for the after show meet & greet - you might catch Mamagee and her famous cookies. No, really, she made the most amazing cookies making us feel like we just came to her house to hang out with Kina. Or you might chat with Dr.G and exchange favorite moments in the set. Coolest parents ever. We missed her sisters at this show (finals week and all) but her surprise guest, the charming David Choi made up for it.

Super mega awesome! She was so sweet. <3 Imaginary Friend was spectacular, too. Both of them were superb live; they own so many other artists vocally live. If you have a chance to see either of them, go go go! (FYI, this is coming from a person who found out about Kina Grannis, Imaginary Friend, and the show in general 2 days before I went so it's not like I'm a fan girl even though it seems that way. I really enjoyed seeing Kina Grannis and Imaginary Friend in concert. Kina Grannis really blew me away. I thought the whole meet and greet idea after was totally awesome! The one thing I don't like is that the room was too small. It was tight for the few hundred people that were there. The sound system sounded great, but I just wasn't a fan of the size of the room. Besides that, everything was great!

Kina Grannis's preformance was awesome. Couldn't tell she was battling a cold. Loved all or her songs. Only thing that keeps it from a 5 star show was the venue. It was really small, run -down, and we packed together,it was all standing room only for over 3 hours.

I think Kina and Imaginary Friend were great, but I was a little disappointed because the band in the room next to us was so much louder. I think if you are going to have a singer like her, you need to have bands with a similar volume in the surrounding rooms. It became too distracting with the thumping bass and the loud music. I would recommend others go to see her again, but it would depend on who else was playing in the other rooms.

Kina has an innocence and natural beauty about her that is so missing from our society today. Her songs were from the heart and really touched me, especially the one about her mother being so ill. She was very engaging as the audience was pulled right into her performance - we were all hoping, as she was, for a deer to appear on stage. Bravo to Kina and her sisters!!!

Seeing Kina live was surreal. After years of watching her on YouTube, her live performances were even better. Her personality and honesty in her music is what makes me a fan. Then to meet her after the show was "icing on the cake". The Fillmore was standing room only but once she started to perform, you forget that you have been standing for the past two hours.

I was honestly hesitating about going to the concert, but I am glad I went because it was the best concert I had ever went to. I really wish I had a meet and greet ticket though and was really sad I didn't get to meet such an amazing and generous person in person. My favorite moment of the concert was probably the time she sang Message From Your Heart and had the whole audience sing it along with her and make the sound of the heart beat, or the time she sang Make It Go because her performance during that song was so honest I almost teared up.

Not only is her music absolutely touching, she herself made this show a wonderful experience. Kina was unbelievably down to earth, had a great sense of humor and made the audience really listen to her beautiful voice that, if I might say so, sounds even better live than on her records! I loved the combo of her guitar and the cellist, and was fortunate enough to hear both her sisters sing as her backup singers, which sounded great. Kina makes you smile and is inspiring in so many different ways. I'm glad I got the chance to go and you will definitely be seing me again at a Kina Grannis show!

I really enjoyed Kina's concert and wasn't surprised by her amazing voice even while performing live after watching so many YouTube videos of her. I also love seeing concerts in such small and intimate venues, as it seems to offer the opportunity for the performer to connect more fully with the audience and vice versa. She seems like such a sweet and gentle person, which is not surprising given her beautiful lyrics. I hope her popularity and success grows further, since it's wonderful seeing such talent these days, and sad that it's not appreciated often enough by the media or masses - buy alas who am I to determine what should be popular. I would definitely recommend her and the concert to anyone, and the only reason for subtracting a star is because I believe a perfect 5 is for those performances which also electrify you with a strong stage presence. I certainly don't need a performer to constantly be moving about for no good reason at all, but I do appreciate it when movement or visual passion is incorporated in a live performance. Kina essentially stands in the same spot the entire time - but fortunately her voice and lyrics carry the day nonetheless. Recommend!!!

I had a few doubts about seeing the timid Kina Grannis play at 7th Street Entry. Especially once I arrived and saw she would be competing with Dawes next door at First Avenue. It was nearly impossible to get into the "groove" with pounding bass and cheers overpowering Kina's set. Nonetheless, Kina made the best of it and like a true musician calmly played that Yuke and kept a steady beat. Next time she comes to MPLS, I hope her crew finds a different venue like Fine Line or Acadia Cafe. Besides that, she and Imaginary Friend would have gotten 5 stars!

First time seeing Kina Grannis, first time at the Howard Theatre. Wow, this place was really nice! It looked aesthetically pleasing and the acoustics were lovely. Lots of Yelp reviews are negative, but I couldn't really find anything to complain about, personally. We got there early, so there were still seats, but after we ate, we went to the crowd and stood for the rest of the concert. Imaginary Future (Jesse) and Kina Grannis were both absolutely amazing. They sound great live, sometimes even better than on their records. Kina's band is also fantastic, especially the drummer!! I wish the concert could have been longer, but I am so glad that I got the opportunity to see them both live. I'd definitely go see them again!

What a wonderful night of music and fun! Imaginary Future opened the show, playing heartfelt and gorgeous music. Kina then came on with her band - it was so great getting to see her perform with full band. She and Imaginary Future did some beautiful songs together, where their love for each other was so apparent. It was really a great night and I left completely marvelling over the purity of Kina's voice. My one big complaint - Doors opened at 7, and yet Kina didn't even come on stage until about 9:30PM. On a Monday night! My friends left before the end of the concert, and I almost did as well, because it was late for a weeknight! I wish it had been a little more prompt.

This concert was amazing - especially when getting to be in the first couple rows! Imaginary Future opened for Kina, and with his mellow, soulful songs, he was a great lead up to Kina. When transitioning from Imaginary Future to Kina, the band began with the upbeat "Dear River" and progressed through most of the songs off her newest album, "Elements", as if she was telling a story and giving us - the fans - a glimpse into her life and her thought process. Due to time, she had to cut bits off of her set in order to allow time for meet and greets with everyone, which was extremely kind of her. Though the venue was a bit strict, rude, and disorganized, the overall experience was quite amazing, and I cannot wait to see Kina perform again!

She's perfect. What can I say? It was a dream come true to be able to see her perform live and meet her. Every song she played, she put her heart into it and that made her performance so much better. She played along with her band which consisted of a drummer, synthesizer/piano player I think? and the electric played by Imaginary Future. They were all wonderful. During breaks between songs, they would all just have fun up there say things and talk with one another making the crowd laugh. Kina being Kina is always awkward when drinking water. She can't face the crowd while drinking water and always has to turn her back but it was adorable. For the encore, she played two songs! Always giving the fans what they want. She usually ends every show with her playing the song Message From Your Heart (unplugged) with the crowd singing the bum bum bum bum parts and it's always a great way to end the show by getting everyone to sing along. All I can say is if you have never been to a Kina Grannis show or if you have no idea who she is, you need to go on youtube and check her out now! Trust me, you won't regret it. She's just as good live if not better than her recording voice and I promise you will enjoy her show. Also, go buy her newest album Elements! :D

The Birchmere had great lights and sound setup around stage, the food was overpriced but good, and the show was wonderful. Great live performance and after-show personability. Thanks, Kina.

The impeccably charming Kina Grannis brought her new band to the Birchmere on her new album Elements debut mini-tour and completely awed the crowd. She quickly captivated the crowd's attention with a stellar performance of a wide selection from Elements sprinkled with favorites from her previous album Stairwells. They included Valentine, Cambridge, In Your Arms and an encore throwback to her classic song Message From Your Heart that debuted during halftime of the 2008 Superbowl. With a strong show of solidarity from her most-capable bandmates, she shed some of her endearing awkwardness and took complete command of her music. The Beatle-esque screams from the adoring audience were in no small part a show of excitement and pride for the clear mastery of the musician and the music.

First time seeing Kina and we had a great time. She even took soooo much time after the show to interact with fans, meet and greet, and sign autographs. Like all good concerts, the only draw was that it seemed too "short," and she didn't do all of the songs that I would have liked from past albums, but I was glad to be a part of her new album concert series and really connected to many of them. Birchmere location was great too - good sound, close to stage, comfortable temp, and good service staff in clean environment. Come back more often!!! :)

This is my second time seeing Kina and it was even better than the first. First was fantastic, second was fantastic x2. Kina is a wonderful performer, in touch with the audience, and you can tell she does this because she absolutely loves it. Second time at Birchmere as well and it's a great venue. Organized, prices aren't too bad, I definitely always check their calendar.

Kina was more than what I hoped and expected for. She was humble, open to sharing about herself, and performed beautifully. It was also great to discover Imaginary Friend, her opening act. I thought it was so cool that she has her sister Emi there performing as well. She gave off the presence of a smart, charming and fun young woman focused on bettering herself as a person as well as showing focus on family and relationships. It's refreshing to see such an amazing role model up on stage performing so beautifully. I was smiling the entire time while watching and listening to her amazing art. Kina Grannis ROCKS!

Welcome Home Kina!!! What a magical evening outdoors at the John Anson Ford Amphitheatre in Hollywood. It was general admission seating, but really not a bad seat in the house: very intimate, with excellent sound and sightlines. A mellow all ages crowd of Kina fans to be sure, along with family in the house. Her sisters joined Kina onstage for several numbers. Kina's honesty, strength/vulnerability, sweetness, compelling lyricism and superb fretwork won us all over, and had us hanging on every word. Definately one of the most memorable performances I've ever attended!!!
