This was one of the best concerts I have ever been to. I still can't believe it didn't sell out! Although, being a long time fan of The Postal Service from their big break back in 2005, it kind of made me feel like they were still somewhat 'underground'. Fans were great. View was great. Sound was great. The only complaint I have is the disgust from the opening acts. The first band sounded pretty good and started to set the mood but quickly removed any respect with a comment akin to "thank you for not booing us off stage". No confidence in your performance means no confidence in you from the audience. The second opening act was ALOT worse. No one around could imagine why a crude rapping booty dance band was supposed to be introducing PS?! Very strange. In the end, it didn't even effect my rating for the overall concert, though. PS was just that good. REDEMPTION!

The Postal Service themselves were phenomenal. I was so glad to be able to watch them live. Even Ben Gibbard's dancing was endearing. The musical acts leading up to them, however, were questionable. Thank goodness I missed the first band, but the act right before The Postal Service was Big Freedia. It consisted of terrible hip hop with a lot of twerking. I saw so much of those girls that I felt like I should be tipping them. Now, I have NO problem with hip hop. In fact, I've gone to see Wu Tang Clan and Ghostface. So I'm a fan. But Big Freedia... it was just bad. And it was also really strange for them to open up for The Postal Service. The crowd wasn't exactly a hip hop crowd. Also, the Open Aire is one of the better SD venues in terms of sound (it sounds amazing), but I couldn't stand all the people smoking pot and having that waft up to me. I have a baby to go home to; I wasn't amused having to shower at midnight to get that skunk smell off of me.

This was hands-down the best show I've ever seen. They are so professional and experienced and got on well with the crowd. They played for a sufficient amount of time and came back for an encore. Perfect! I could've think of a single criticism.

The opening act was not very good. The venue could have been better. It was just a giant square room so it was hard to see the stage. But the Postal Service was amazing!

The Postal Service was amazing in every degree of the word. The setlist was perfectly chosen, the band looked great, the light coordination was spectacular & the venue was AWESOME. I love the cosmo & I'm glad they played at the chelsea ballroom oher than any other venue in vegas, security even escorted me & my date to the front so it was so packed

Seeing the Postal Service was like visiting an old friend and having one of the best nights of your life. They sounded amazing, the vibe at the crowd was perfect. Only complaint was drink prices the Cosmopoltian - greedy, forsure. But after a decade of waiting to see them they did not disappoint. On the other hand, the opening band YACHT was not very good. Besides there underground hit, VooDoo City I found there set to be painful to watch.

I am glad that the music was good. I was so disappointed though that the venue was so packed that I could not see the stage at all. I wish that there was screens in the outdoor bar area, so at least I would have been able to see the band on the stage at least once. And it is not like I am a short person--i'm 5'6", so reasonably I should have been able to see the stage on one of the elevations of the floor area. However, it was not possible because the room was so overpacked.

I like the Postal Service, but I'm not the biggest fan. Give Up is a fantastic album, but the new songs they wrote for the 10th anniversary re-release were a bit disappointing. I think the Mondavi Center was a poor choice in venue. The crowd was dead, and I felt like the band was, too. They sounded really good, don't get me wrong, but they didn't surprise me in any way. Their music is pretty soft, not the most energetic stuff out there. The light show could've been better, that would've helped. I thought that maybe they'd take more liberties with their songs, too. Nothing about the concert exceeded my low expectations. If you're a big fan of The Postal Service, go see them in concert. If you only "like" them, then you should pass.

I have waited 10 years to see the Postal Service and it was pretty well worth the wait! It was my first time at the Mondavi Center, and I was supremely impressed. I would LOVE to go see all shows at the Mondavi Center. Postal Service was high energy and played all the songs I love. I gave this show a 4/5 because the show was only a little over an hour long which was disappointing. Most shows from such popular bands (especially if they haven't played in a very long time) would be at LEAST 1.5 hours but more like 2 hours.

The Postal Service played their 2nd show in 9 years, and it was well worth the wait. The 16 songs they played were exactly what you would want to hear. It may be another decade before they come again so I would highly recommend catching this show. Not a dull moment so grab your beer and take your squirt before they come on.

After a *nine year* absence, The Postal Service has returned to play most of the tracks from their Give Up album released 10 years ago. Unfortunately, while the songs were great, they sounded just like the album. For some this might be a good thing, but I was hoping they'd switch it up a bit. I enjoyed hearing the new material, but after so many years of listening to Give Up I would have appreciated a new spin to some of the songs. Imagine if they'd have done Iron Wine's version of Such Great Heights... I also wish they'd have interacted a bit more with the audience, but I prefer more personable performers. The room at GSR was ok. It was actually pretty nice seating until a group of 8 people or so decided to come stand in front of our table just minutes before the show was about to start. No view of the stage for the rest of the show was a bummer. We were seated in a booth, so unless we wanted to further clog to isle there wasn't anything we could do. Getting up to use the restroom I noticed that this wasn't the case for most of the other seating, so just bad (and rude) luck in our case.

TPS was great. They were energetic, interactive, and thoroughly entertaining. Their openers, Mates of State, were also a good choice.
The Postal Service concert was so amazing!!! After 10 years of waiting, I was finally able to see them and they totally lived up to my expectations! Jenny & Ben are amazing together. It was a surreal experience. I would HIGHLY recommend seeing them if you get the chance because it might be your first and last opportunity. AMAZING CONCERT!
I was kinda weary about how the album was translate to a live arena. They surpassed my expectations. They basically performed the whole album. Ben Gibbard dancing like a robotic solider was funny. Jenny was good as always, the interplay between all the band members was memorable. Plus its a beautiful venue in the middle of Griffith Park.
I've been looking forward to seeing the Postal Service since their album released in 2003. They did not disappoint at all. Jenny Lewis and Ben Gibbard sounded great together. Jimmy Tamborello was talented as usual and Laura Burhenn was great on back up. They complained of technical difficulties but I didn't notice anything major. I guess they were video taping this show as it was the last of their tour.
Couldn't be happier that after 10 years of liking The Postal Service, I finally got to see the group that I would easily place in to my top 5 favorite artists/groups of all time! It was my first time catching anything at the Greek, so I wasn't sure what kind,of vibe to expect, but the ambiance of the venue, blended with the brilliance of the show, was a perfect backdrop for fun. The musical chemistry between Jenny Lewis and Ben Gibbard is engaging and frankly, adorable. Leaving no favorite undone, Give Up was brought back to life in the best way possible, and the production was fit for a grand 10th anniversary celebration!
This was a great show! Big Freedia was so much fun; lots of energy and charisma. The Postal Service was really, really good. I didn't know what to expect but the album translated really well live. It was a wonderful experience. I'm so glad I went.
The Postal Service was sooooo good live. I cannot believe how much better they were live than recorded. Ms Lewis was on point! What other band has ever come out with only one album, and then go tour over 10 years later, and somehow manage to sell out a significant number of large venues???
The Postal Service at the Greek Theater in Berkeley was a once-in-a-lifetime experience! I'm glad I saw this band at this venue, and vice versa, I'm glad that if this was the only show I ever see at the Greek (even though it probably won't be) it was this band.
The Postal Service concert was wonderful. It was such a surreal experience to listen to songs from one of my all time favorite albums played live and not only live, but also executed so flawlessly that at times it was hard to distinguish the live performance from the recording. I also appreciated hearing some of the new tracks performed live. The concert was the first time I had heard these tracks before. I believe this made me appreciate them more than I would have if I had heard the recording before the show. Lastly, while the opening act Big Freedia was ultimately a polarizing choice for many concert goers, I thought the quirky unconventional choice was awesome. The group that I attended the concert with got a huge kick out of the performance and thoroughly enjoyed the nonsense and whimsical nature of this highly unusual act. Kudos for being brave enough to choose them as your opener.
I like Postal Service and they put on a good show but they don't take advantage of all the talent they have onstage. When your band consists of songwriters like Ben Gibbard, Jenny Lewis and Laura Burhenn try to take some of the songs from their other bands (Death Cab for Cutie, Rilo Kiley, Jenny & Johnny & The Mynabirds) and put a Postal Service spin on those songs. If you were luck y enough to have seen Monsters of Folk or David Byrne & St. Vincent recently you know that they knew playing songs from one record was not enough and included material from all of their catalogs. Maybe Ben Gibbard lacks that performer's mentality because DCFC shows are always missing something as well.
The Postal Service put on a great show. Ben and Jenny were amazing, but the crowd was either on downers or they were paraplegics because nobody was dancing. They just stood there like the stage was a glowing box with hypnotic powers. Seriously people. It's a concert. Have fun! They are checked off my bucket list. My company was the saving grace.
It was a sold out show, so there were lots and lots of people. But Postal Service did great, sounded great, and were so entertaining. Would love to see them again. Plus, anything at the Greek Theater in Berkeley is always good.
Baths and The Devine Fits were great bands to open for The Postal Service, I really enjoyed their music and the way they performed. When the Postal Service got on stage everyone in the audience went wild and the excitement levels were high until the very end when everyone was leaving the venue. The Postal Service is one of my absolute favorite bands and their performance was beyond what I could have imagined. It was an experience I'll never forget! I wish I could get my hands on a tour video because there was a crew member going around the audience getting film of random peoole and I got to be one of those people!
So glad I was finally able to see this live as I have to admit I didn't think it would ever happen. I would much rather have seen this band put out a couple more albums versus what was seen from Death Cab (I realize there are three other bands but I stand firm that Death Cab's popularity prevented Postal Service from coming out with anything else). If you have the opportunity I highly recommend it whether you know the band or not!!
The venue and show were both amazing!! My husband and I LOVE The Postal Service!

I am a big fan of Postal Service but this show was pretty disapointing. I went to the Friday show and unfortunately had to sit through the Big Fredia opener, which was ten minutes less The PS set. Big Fredia ruined the tone that should have been set before The PS. Postal Service only played songs from the tenth anniversary edition of the album and left out Against All Odds and both Flaming Lips covers, which I would have rather heard over Recycled Air or This Place is a Prison. I liked the heavy bass to make the songs a little different and the singer is pretty good on drums. I still like the Postal Service a lot, I probably wont go see them live again though.

I enjoyed everything about my evening. The seats at the Greek were great, the venue was lovely, the weather was perfect, and, of course, the band rocked. The Postal Service were good, but not great. They played everything I wanted them to, and while staying true to their original sound, I felt the performance lacked some of the spirit that made Give Up a great album. Ten years later I can imagine they would have some trouble getting back into the mindset they were in while writing those songs, but I think as professional musicians charging 60 bucks a ticket, they could have captured a bit more of the subtlety and emotion that are in that album. The album has a very emo/indie rock kind of feeling, and the live show was almost like a big dance party, except the music was still mellow enough that people weren't dancing much. I'd like to see this tour redone in smaller venues, maybe playing Give Up from start to finish, since they basically did that anyway with some alterations and filler songs thrown in. I want to pay for music, not spectacle.

After 10 years, these guys play like its only been a day. Never would have imagined the live performance would be as good as the album but I was wrong. They did all their songs, plus a couple new ones and a couple covers (couldn't tell which was which). Energy in the crowd was amazing - we've all been waiting a looooong time for this :D not too loud, either - in section 221 volume was nice and Barclay offers a great view from anywhere. Only complaint was the super loud thumping bass that often drowned out the music - surely that crap isn't intentional? It was great, though, Jenny and Ben are just awesome on stage and Ben is hilarious with his little dance moves. A+++++ show would see again!

Ben Gibbard came out with lots of energy as expected. I saw him play with DCFC in Seattle when I lived there back in 2011 and this concert was edgier with the P.S. faster beats and loud bass reverberating your entire body. He played 75% old songs, 25% new. Old songs still sound the best. The light show on stage was fun to get lost in and matched the rhythms and tones of each song perfectly. Cool how Ben played both guitar and drums too. He is a true musician, and one of the few capable of writing really creative and good sounding music. The only drawback to the concert was the short 1 hr 15 min setlist. I guess P.S. doesn't really have as large a pool of songs to draw from with only one official album released in a decade. Overall, this was an easy access, fun concert so you should go see it if you get a chance! By the way, the opening act, Ra Ra Riot was very talented. Their music was a good prelude to Postal. -EFOX

They put on what could be a once in a lifetime show, and they made sure it is worth-while. This was one of the best shows I have been to! Not to mention that the Chelsea Ballroom was packed full of people, as it was a sold out show. I was EXTREMELY pleasantly surprised by the fact that they were selling tour merch there. By "tour merch", I mean that there was a shirt that had the tour dates on the back. Nearly all of the shows I've been to in the past 3-4 years haven't had that. Of course, they had other shirts as well, which is always great! The show was unforgettable, and I honestly hope that they decide to tour more after this one is over.

The show was awesome! Definitely a once in a lifetime experience to see the Postal Service play 10 years after their first and only album release and for the last time (3rd to final show on their tour!) Many others have stated how they felt their set was 'short', but it is important to remember they only had one album and 3 EPs of material to cover (~15 songs plus 1 cover, a DNTEL song Ben sang in) so I was pleased when they hit basically every song they have ever done plus some bonus stuff. The bass was pretty loud, but admittedly, I was right next to the stage so I could still hear everything quite well (I could understand how the bass could rumble out everything the farther away you were sitting, however). Definitely something you felt in your chest, but there was something really all encompassing about it that was pretty awesome when you were up close. The light show was pretty stellar, the crowd around me was obviously excited to be there. Dancing to the Postal Service seems so inappropriate, however - the mood of the show was definitely more inline with a Death Cab for Cutie show, despite most of the music being set to a electronic beat. People WERE pumped to be there, but how does one really react to such melancholy music set to such an enthusiastic beat? There was some jumping around for some of the more up tempo songs (which caught me WAY off guard) but most people were singing, clapping along or generally enthused. For me, at least, seeing/hearing these songs performed life injected so much more meaning into them then when you hear them on the album. They took on a more story like quality and linked together beautifully. Maybe it was just the order they were played in or how they all have many more years of music making under their belt now, but seeing them live resparked my love for the Give Up Album (that I have been listening to regularly over the years since it came out in 2003). Mates of State also did a stellar job. I have heard them passively a few times, but never really listened to one of their albums in entirety. After seeing their show, I am paying a lot more attention to them! Not too many opening acts can leave an impression like that, but they did a really awesome job! Overall, it was a really great show! I understand why some people may have been disappointed, but once you consider what you are really going to see ( a band with one album recorded 10 years ago where most song themes are about lost love despite sounding extremely upbeat on the surface) the atmosphere was appropriate and the show was very memorable!

Bass was so loud and misbalanced we had to leave after 3 songs. Bad mixture of a poor music venue and an inadequate sound board operator.

The Postal Service put on an amazing show in St. Paul. Amazing talent, great laser/lights show, with some excellent covers thrown in. I would definitely go see them again.

I've been to hundreds of concerts and I get that bass is always loud but it drowned out everything else in this case. Love the details in this music but couldn't hear any of them. Crowd was not engaged at all either. Too bad after 10 years of waiting.

My husband and I are recent fans of Postal Service, and were very excited to learn that they were joining back up to go on tour. We've been anticipating this concert all summer. It was nice to hear familiar songs, but I don't know if concert-goers felt satisfied after a ten-year absence. The concert was quite short because of this too. Their set maybe lasted 90 minutes, including the encore. We were disappointed though with the amount of bass. It was so overbearing that it was often difficult to hear any of the other elements of the song. We were wearing high-quality musician's earplugs, seated towards the back of the balcony, and occasionally found bass to be uncomfortable even on our protected ears. Granted, Postal Service's songs are generally "low-key" and "toned-down", but there wasn't much energy in the room. Even those fans close to the stage weren't moving around much. The performers' moved around the stage very little, and when they did, their movements seemed a bit choreographed. All in all, not very interesting to watch. This was our first time at the Roy Wilkins auditorium. It looked like a high school gymnasium with high school auditorium seats surrounding it in the balcony. I was expecting more from this venue.

Extremely pretty visually, but a short set. This was to be expected because of the length of the album, but if they had not done an encore i wold have left very upset.

I've been a fan of the Postal Service since their first (and only) album came out, so I was excited to see them play live. But it was ruined by the sound mix, which was beyond awful. All you could hear was the bass, which was so loud it shook your eyeballs. If I were seeing a different artist, like one of the heavy metal variety, that might be good, even welcome, but Postal Service never struck me as as drum n' bass sort of band. This was the first time I've left a concert early it was so bad. There was no reason to stay because you couldn't hear the songs over the bass.

The sound was great, this was my first time seeing the band live. I was hesitant about the quality of their live performance given their heavy electronic background. However, the whole band was great and the different instruments added to a great experience.

The Postal Service show itself was enjoyable, if short. The first opening act ("Baths") was fair, but the vocals were screechy and indistinct. The second opening act ("Big Freedia") was intolerable. This act is a "bounce show" -- apparently by one of the luminaries of the New Orleans genre. There are three dancers whose main move is to face away from the audience and gyrate their hips. This is amusing for about two songs, but rapidly grows repetitive and tiresome, despite the energetic (and occasionally acrobatic) performance by the dancers. I would be hard pressed to pick an act that is a worse fit for The Postal Service, although the band themselves seem to be fans. By the time The Postal Service finally hit the stage, The Greek's uncomfortable concrete seating was really taking its toll, but the show itself was entertaining and the performance solid. The band rapidly advanced from song to song with minimal chatter or crowd interaction. On the one hand, this is nice -- you don't feel that you're paying for patter. On the other hand, one does expect a certain amount of acknowledgement of the audience at a live show. Combined with the relatively short setlist, you may leave wondering if the band had someplace to be later in the evening. I gather that Big Fredia's portion of the tour is over. If you will see TPS later on the tour, consider yourself fortunate to miss them.

The show was SO AMAZING. Knew that Postal Service would knock my socks off (they delivered), but was so blown away by the venue as well! Lawn seats were fantastic, I could see the stage perfectly, and had a wonderful little cheese and crackers dinner.

It was a good show that was reasonably priced for a packed show. Bartenders were very quick and had good service. There was alot of greeters that helped us find our seats even after the show had already started. The band was really good of course and had really good lighting effects. Overall a good night thanks to the Greek theater crew.

Ten years later, the Postal Service's Give Up is still a classic. To see them live at the Greek has been one for the history books. The venue caused me to skip the sub-par venues of San Diego and drive up to Griffith Park just to be nestled away to watch the Postal Service.

Well, it felt like I was attending EDM concert where very loud bass over powered all other sound. It is too bad since I loved mellow sound of Postal Services.

The show was an excellent romantic night out with the Mrs. Which seemed like the right idea as the venue seemed filled with cuddling couples. The band was much better than I expected in their showmanship and musicianship. After this experience, however, I would really only see them again if they played a smaller venue like El Rey, Wiltern, HoB etc.

The Postal Service is a great live band. The songs they played sounded very similar to the album recordings I know and love, but with a marked analog sound and improvised performance bits. It was a great concert, and the band is definitely worth seeing live.
