Crosby, Stills and Nash

Crosby, Stills and Nash

Formed at the end of the '60s, folk rock supergroup Crosby, Stills and Nash remain legends to this day, as beloved for their perennial touring as they are for their influential legacy in American music history. The group, occasionally accompanied by Neil Young, has weathered over four decades of dramatic highs and lows, coming out no worse for the wear — in 2012 they released their fourth live album CSN 2012, proving their intricate vocal harmonies were as exquisite as ever and building anticipation for their 2014 tour dates.FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:\"Their voices were magnificent. While getting to King's Theatre was a bit nerve wracking, the concert and the venue were amazing. CSN still do an amazing job of harmonizing and making you feel like your lifelong dedication to their music and philosophy is well worth it. David Crosby can sing better than ever, Graham Nash is amazing and Stephen's guitar playing rocked the house over and over again. When they played Suite Judy Blue Eyes the crowd went wild, and Stephen pulled it off, with a little help from his friends! Clear view of the stage, but with no large screen broadcasting the stage you do miss the interactions between the singers as you are too far away to see their faces clearly.

This was a night to remember. As David Crosby said onstage, "What a beautiful place, just a fuckin' beautiful place". I wrote that down because it was so apt. The venue is just spectacular. Jude & I are recommending The Kings to all our friends & family, no kidding. The staff are top notch, friendly, knowledgable and competent. Having workied in & around the Rock & Roll biz since 1969, I'm very happy to add this room to my list of favorite music halls. It's a new place, they have some catching up to do, but that's to be expected. Do yourself a favor, check out the calender for a band you like and GO! We'll be back!

They didn't quite hit every highlight from "the songbook," but when you think about it, how COULD they? I liked the covers of other 60's and 70's giants that they did... they made those songs their own without being untrue to the originals. They also made some very different arrangements of their own classics, which was very much A Good Thing! See, I saw them about 15 years ago and they were trying to sing the "standard" arrangements. Well, those arrangements were made for the voices they had in 1968, not 1994. The arrangements we heard here were made for the voices they HAVE, not the voices they HAD. SO much better!

Recently went to Crosby, Stills, and Nash and it was absolutely amazing. These three are well known for the great musicians they are. However, I must comment on their voices. The harmonies were fabulous -- they truly could have performed the whole show a capella as their voices, alone, resonate the songs in full! An unforgettable show!

I've seen CSN at least 5 or 6 times, this was not one of their finest. While their voices are still awesome - I didn't go to the concert to hear them sing other artists songs. Sorry, I would not go see them again - it seemed like this show was about what they wanted to sing - not what their fans wanted to hear...

I was really suprised how well CSN sounded overall. They did a host of cover songs during the first half of the show of other artist's tunes they wished they had recorded. Some were interesting and sounded great, others were out of tune and just not what you would expect from them. They did Jackson Browne and the Rolling Stones proud though. The most suprising thing all night was Stephen Stills guitar playing. WOW! What a kick ass jam session he put on. David Crosby still has that booming voice and was superb. Graham Nash was Graham Nash.

6 couples (early 60's) went to the concert, and everyone was disappointed, to the point that we left early. The sound engineer must have stayed in Chicago, because the sound was so loud, that all of the words and music was muffled and unintelligible, even the ballads. In addition, the song selection was awful. Very few of the songs that most people came to hear, too many of their obscure songs and too many guitar solos by Stephen Stills.

I know these guys are pros, but it really sounded like a garage rehersal. I was very disappointed. Vocals were off big time. Instruments ok, except the 2nd half they had to give Stills a big solo in every song - that gets old fast. They only played (I think) 2 old songs, all the rest were songs that they just released. So, it's hard to get into it if you don't know the songs. I apologized to my husband for making him come with me to the concert.

Saw them in Detroit about 20-years ago. Was excited to see and hear the songs that made them so popular, what a disapointment! The first half they played crap songs very few but the hard-core groupies knew. Nash said something about their agent or whomever making them play these songs because it's going to be on their new album. He must have felt like we did, it sucked! I think they played a total of 5 songs that got the crowd excited. Don't know if this is true but I also heard they had the U.S. Flag taken down. The flag pole was lite but there was no flag flying which was kind of strange.. Does anyone know if this is true?

I've always been a fan, and this was my second chance to see them live . Amazing show, amazing vocals. They did some awesome covers that they don't usually play, and apparently a CD will be coming out soon. Only downside was that I had backstage passes and they had to leave before they could do a meet and greet. FABULOUS.

Loved this concert and loved this venue! Got there later than planned and still found great seats on the field, really really close - no need for opera glasses. They played some 'covers' at the beginning, saying that this was new for them... they played Beatles, Dead, James Taylor, all very good! Then they continued with their own...Would've liked to hear Cathedral and Darkstar but other than that I think they hit all the others I was hoping for. They played two sets, and the concert lasted from a prompt start at 8pm till about 10:30pm...

While I didn't care for CSN's accoustic set (the harmonies are unfortunately not what they use to be) the sets with the band, playing all the old favorites and a few new songs was terrific. Their energy and engagement with the crowd was fantastic. Even my 17 year old son thought they were great. He particularly enjoyed the messages of peace, simple living and harmony that CSN has always been known for. Alas, isn't that why we all love them still !!!

Stephen Still's voice was weak and as a result they performed very few of their well known songs. Nash was in good form; Crosby started out weak but his voice got stronger into the concert. As a result we heard a lot of jazz guitar, not why I attended. I was very disappointed if I had known in advance would not have gone.

I really enjoyed this concert, the smaller venue was perfect for these guys. I enjoyed hearing all the "new" stuff and was not dissapointed at all by what they played. Crosby, Stills and Nash -Bring back the memories and making new ones that will last for many years to come. I was one of the many people that attended Crosby, Stills, Nash ans Young on thier final concert tour many many years ago. So being able to attend this event made this awesome experience come full circle. Great music, many fans really enoying these moments made this a time to remember for my husband and myself. It braught back some of the much needed care free spirit of youth. Would do it again.

Stills can't sing anymore although he plays the guitar with that blues tinged rock style that is still as distinctive and original as it was in the buff spring days. David seemed bored, like he couldn't wait for the show to end so he could climb aboard the marakesh express. Graham was, as he always has been, the inveterate showman. He seemed to be in charge of the trio, took a lot of the solo spotlight, and seemed like he was having the time of his life. The supporting players, including David's son on keyboards, we're proficient and versatile. If you like the music from the 60 and 70s you'll love this show despite the flaws. It was good fun.

Having seen CSN before, I was concerned by what kind of show I would see this time. It was great. They were all sober and playing at their best. Steven Stills had a couple of "musician moments" but otherwise it was a really enjoyable show. My only regret is that I did not get to hear "Tree Top Flyer". Oh Well- maybe next year. Rock On CSN!

These guys are like fine wine; they just get better with age. I was blown away! I have seen Clapton,Stones, Pink Floyd, Who, U2 and many more super groups but I would put this concert above all of them! No frills just great raw talent. They played all the old great stuff and some new songs I've not heard which was also great. Can't say enough about how impressed I was and surprised that after all these years 40+ they haven't lost a drop of talent. I absolutely LOVE them!

WOW!! How many adjectives can I use? This was one of the best concerts ever. CS&N played and sang with youthful exuberance! The band was tight. They played all the favorites and did some new songs that were really good. Stills still has great guitar skills! Their harmonies were spot on. They looked and acted like they were thoroughly enjoying themselves, and they showed appreciation to us, the fans. All in all, this was an outstanding concert and we were happy to be a part of it!! Rock on!!

First of All? This show was great! The best I've seen them play in their last four appearances in South Florida, the "Hard Rock" in Hollywood! However, compared to the show they gave Orlando's Hard Rock? We saw about two thirds of their show! Opening with their usual "Carry On/Questions" and following with their outstanding songbook, all the selections were done as you would expect, flawless! I despise reading the set list of the same act I just saw and feel I've been had! About the same show I just saw? They may have played more in Orlando but they had problems and this show was nothing less than outstanding! I would rather hear their stuff instead of Jefferson Airplane's but Dylan's "Girl from the North Country" was exquisite and the extended encore of "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes" took me back to the days of Old! Why else do we go see & hear our music from our younger days? I think that was the payback for skipping a few gems, I'll take it! Go see them tonight? "IF YOU CAN"!

My primary reason for attending this show was to hear CSN play their iconic first album from start to finish. What a treat! I haven't been to a show in awhile where there was such anticipation from the audience prior to the show. Graham came out before the show began to explain the sequence of the evenings events, that being the first set would be a combination of old and new songs and that the second set would be the first album plus. Opening with Carry On, the boys started rocking right away. My overall description of the night was gentle, but rocking. The harmonies were great, save for an occasional flat note, and Stephen just rocked the house. It's said too often what an underrated guitarist he is. Bluebird and Wooden Ships blew me away. Unfortunately this was the last show of the tour, but given the reception for the first album, maybe, like Steely Dan, they will again decide to perform albums in their entirety. Hopefully at the Beacon, my favorite venue.

CSN's performance exceeded my expectations in every way! From my vantage point, I saw the close connection they share and the respect they have for their band. The set list was SO satisfying! Their harmony and unique sound often gave me chills and brought tears to my eyes. Their banter added another dimension of richness, as did CSN's warm, engaging connection with the audience. Seeing each member showcased as well as each band member was also a plus! I was so happy to see Sean Fontaine once again. Rumor that CSN just doesn't "have it" anymore is FALSE! They are seasoned, singers, musicians, song writers and caring human beings bringing awareness to important issues through their music. To experience CSN for 2 3/4 hours at the beautiful Beacon Theater was a thrill! And sitting so close to the stage, I could see Graham's bare feet...cracked me up!

They sound as great as ever. Stills can milk beautiful, amazing sounds out of a guitar. Great interaction with the crowd as they all poked fun at themselves, each other - and even the audience (one guy kept yelling "I love you, David" and he replied something like, "Get your sister to say that; reminds me of prison.") They did some good new music which is fine except instead of three in a row it would've been better to intersperse that with the long-time favorites that are in our heads and hearts. Nash referenced coming to America on the "You'll be OK" from his friend Donovan, who was in the audience! Nash sprang around barefoot, appearing to be having a great time. Stills came forward-stage several times when he jammed. Crosby stood solid, with his hands in his pockets when he wasn't playing guitar, and out flowed this strong, so-tuned voice. A++

Old hippies playing to a crowd of old hippies. Being one of them, I enjoyed the show immensely. I forgot how political they are which was funny seeing them right after the debates round two. They are not on 100% of the time. A little pitchy, some mistakes here and there but their harmonies are still pretty good for the most part. Stills was a little inconsistent, ripping at times, other times not. IMO he is one of the best guitar players, albeit underrated. I've seen him better. Good commentary and banter with the crowd. For the faithful, a memorable night.

This was a very special concert for me and and my 33 year old daughter. We drove to Redrock from St Louis, MO and attended the concert. It was one of the most memorable moments in our relationship. The venue is by far the most exciting place that I have ever seen a great band. The performance was outstanding, think they played for three hours with a 15 min break and no opening act. Their talent is as evident today as it was 40 plus years ago all be it that they have all weathered a bit. If you are a child of the sixes or just love the music of CSN this is a must see music event. My wife and I attended the May 15th show here in Brooklyn. I've loved Crosby Stills and Nash since they first started singing together at Woodstock in 1969, but have never seen them. It's hard to believe these guys are still touring and making music at the age of 70+. The Kings Theater which holds about 3200 was packed. They opened with "Carry On/Question" and played for a little over an hour with a 15 minute intermission. They can still harmonize and you can tell they really love to perform by the way they spoke to the audience. They came back after intermission and in Nash's words "OK enough of this slow sh*t, let's rock out". Boy did they ever! Stills doesn't get the credit he deserves for his incredible guitar playing. He just killed it on his tobacco-colored Fender Stratocaster. Their back-up band is tight and is probably "the best we've ever had" (Nash's words.) and includes Crosby's son James on keyboards. Near the end of the show, there wasn't an audience member who wasn't standing, clapping and singing along which CSN openly encouraged. They did two encores. The first was "Teach Your Children", the second "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes". Based on the comments I heard leaving the theater, CSN left everyone feeling wonderful after putting on what I would call a stellar show.

CS and N are obviously old. The history and quality of the classic songs as well as the artists themselves are worth going for. Too many new songs and not enough classics. Trouble with the new music is old guys singing unfamiliar songs. I say "old guys" as I'm getting there as well but just a fact. Love the guys and their band was awesome and very talented. I don't think it was worth the $250 x 2 that I paid for VIP tix. Saw much better CSN shows at Pier 6 just a few years ago for much less. I will say concerts at the Hippadrome are incredible for sound quality.

They started with Carry On, and next played Chicago ("rules and regulations, who needs them"! and adlib line - "Dont' ask Obama because he won't listen"), Our House, Love the One You're With, Deja Vu (Crosby's comments in front of this song and others were a hoot, but I won't repeat them because of salty language...), Sourthern Cross, Delta, Long Time Gone, Guinevere and others.

This band broke through at Woodstock in '69. Slightly before my formative years, but my older siblings exposed me to their 70's conscience music. It stuck. These men have always produced socially eye opening lyrics and continue to do so. The band came on at 8pm and played a 3 hour flashback that was wonderful. Yes, they have aged and maybe are not as crisp as they once were. However, it was a pleasure to be part of this trip. If you get the chance treat yourself to one of the most creative group of musicians of our time. I wasn't disappointed and if you appreciate real music you won't be either. Additionally, The Pearl Theater in Vegas is a great place to see a concert. Sound, sight, and crowd were awesome.

After all of these years, it's amazing these guys can still belt it out on key! The show started out strong, 3 top hits which all sounded amazing. We were so excited to be there! Unfortunately that medley was followed by what seemed like hours of slow, tedious, instrumental, mediocre songs that literally had the guy next to me snoring. The show ended with two more hits, thank goodness, but at that point my group was more than ready to go. Bottom line, the show was a bit of a disappointment. The guys can still sing, their old music sounds incredible, but the show... not so much. They did not perform enough of their hits, which unfortunately killed the enthusiasm of the crowd.

They may be Seniors, but their energy was not! Graham Nash was barefoot the entire show. David Crosby was really funny, including his quip when an audience member yelled "You look good" and he quickly replied "You need glasses"! They did a nice blend of old and new, and they all did several individual solos. A much better show than I expected, and a very appreciative, well behaved crowd added to a wonderful event to be at. Played from 8 pm to about 11, with a 20 min intermission. So glad we were able to go and will do it again in a heartbeat!

Been waiting since Woodstock to see these guys and it finally happened. Great combination of hearing the old tunes again and appreciating the timelessness of the songs and the group. May be a little dust in the pipes but there were some high notes well hit, especially by Nash and Crosby in "Guinevere". Steven Stills, still has some of the fastest hands in the business. The quality of the band is also excellent. All three primaries had a chance to show their stuff and the trio together brought back our youth in flashes of remembrance. If you have a chance to see them and don't, shame on you. This was a moment not to be missed. I think they had a good time too.

They never cease to amaze me. Each time I see them they bring back memories both turbulent and happy of days past. They have been and are a big part of my life. I first saw Buffalo Springfield at a high school dance around 1966 and have been hooked every since.

The boys were in great voice, excellent mix of oldies and new ones --especially liked Graham Nash's tribute to Levon Helm. And Stills rocked, Crosby rolled. Sound was tinny for the first two songs, then it cleared up throughout. Saenger is a great venue.

If there is any thought that CSN is over the hill, that myth was totally dispelled on Friday night. With a harmony as tight as Dick's hatband, this band performed to a packed BJCC concert hall. They first brought the fans to their feet and then brought the house down with old, beloved tunes and new works to boot. Crosby Stills Nash, you brought it to town and just when we thought it couldn't get any hotter, it did! Bravo!

Cost of Tickets: $$$$ Smile & feeling like 16 again: Priceless! These individuals write, sing and play multiple instruments and do it superbly. It is amazing compared to some of today's groups that only do one thing! And Stephen Stills excels at playing rock guitar and writing rock music, while Graham Nash (barefoot) writes anthems, and David Crosby writes the weird stuff! This was according to David Crosby! Imagine 3 so distinct styles combining and staying together beautifully all these years! I LOVED EVERY MINUTE, OLD SONGS AND NEW AS WELL! Worth every dollar!

When you can go to a concert where the mood of everyone is happy even before the music starts, you know you're in for a good show! Starting right on time, Crosby Stills and Nash started with a bundle of classics. Our seats were exactly center stage, the row directly in front of the sound board. Let me tell you, the harmony between David Crosby and Graham Nash is as magical as it must have been when they first got together. Stephen Stills jammed lead guitar with all energy and accuracy. The joy came form hearing Croz sing. Sing? Really, his voice seems fully restored. His humor came across as good humored. And he gave us some new original songs including one he wrote after his latest CD "Croz". It is good to see and hear. With the rest of the band made up of top shelf musicians was right on time. The music and lyrics are as relevant today as at any other time. The band? Just as relevant...living on and on.

I was surprised to hear how young their voices sounded. Their harmonies are as complex and ear-pleasing as ever. And their guitar work is just as intricate and powerful, as in their original recordings. They also chose some incredibly talented backup artists. Great show! High energy and nostalgia make an interesting combination.

The CSN concert was fabulous but the theatre venue was an unexpected bonus. The acoustics were fabulous and it had such a sense of intimacy in spite of being full and a sold-out performance. All three were in great form though in the beginning it felt like they were not hitting the high notes -- but they warmed up and got better and better.

The band was great. They started on time, no opening act, and opened with a few of their old big hits. They played approx 3 hours with a 20 min intermission. They did many old and some new songs, which were really good. Their voices are still great ( not Stephen Stills') and their harmonies even better. Stills' guitar playing is phenomenal. They did a few Buffalo Springfield songs and the audience sang along. The audience also sang along to Teach Your Children and Our House. Great Concert!

This has had to have been the most memorable musical event I have ever seen! Besides the enormous musical talent, the evening was filled with warmth, compassion and humanity Despite their 'years', these artists still sounded perfect in harmony. They can put any new band in their place. Their new music was wonderful. Graham Nash and David Crosby have some wonderful new heartfelt lyrics. Stephen Stills plays a guitar that I have to say I didn't know he could. Great Show!

I have always wanted to see Crosby, Still and Nash since I was a child in the late 1960's. Last night I had a longtime wish fulfilled with their performance at the Hard Rock in Las Vegas, NV, They were incredible, with Steve Still's blistering guitar riffs, their combined vocals, and a great group of musicians backing the trio. From epic songs such as Woodstock to the ever beautiful Guinnevere, their performance is so perfect, yet fresh as a new song. I would love to see them again. The acoustics of the Hard Rock's Rogue Theater was perfect for CSN. A surprise in the show was the performance of songs from artists, or as David Crosby put it, "songs we wish we had written!". Their performance was just over two and a half hours with a fifteen minute break, If you get the chance to see them, be sure you do. They are truly icons of rock.

CSN have been a favorite of mine since the 70's. I have always been moved by their music and harmony. Last night was no exception. They played the music that I grew up, including songs by other artists, like the Beatles and the Allman Brothers. The highlight of the night was the song "Winchester Cathedral". I took my son, who is now 23 years old, and he loved the music as much as I do. CSN's music transcends generations and will always be classic rock.

It was not worth the money I paid for the seats. It was an average show given by men who are way past their prime. While the music was OK, the show was average. I saw the 9/19/09 show at Ironstone & I am still smiling from the experience. CSN was at once joyfully harmonious, beautifully melodious, playful, relaxed, and distinctly memorable in their song choices. Starting the first set with covers from James Taylor, Grateful Dead, Dylan, Beatles, The Stones etc was genius. I have been to every SF Bay Area, CA show (including CSN&Y) for the past 15 years and I have never heard them sing covers. It was a treat for the fans. When Steven Stills sang his solos it brought tears to my eyes. A moment to remember. Graham Nash was his usual brilliant self, singing in full voice & holding a glass of red wine at the end to take his bow. Classy, handsome man. And then there was the Great David Crosby. Feeling a little ill that night (he shared with the audience) but did anyone care or notice? We were all in the palm of his hand - do with us what you will Cros because you can do no wrong. For those of us who watch closely & have other shows to compare, "Almost Cut my Hair" was noticably missing, I suspect because it was difficult to sing with a sore throat.. But no mind, we were all taken with his voice, new music, and wit. I will watch & listen and continue to enjoy their concerts for as long as CSN shares with us the bliss that is their talent. They only get better with age. Devoted Bay Area fan.

It was a perfect night to see an amazing group of musicians. Though their voices were not as strong in their younger years, they are wonderful entertainers and artists. I was disappointed that they did not play "Woodstock", especially since it was just 40th anniversary, but they played many others. Ironstone is a great venue, though leaving the parking lot afterwards was a challenge and required patience.

Although the Ironstone venue in Murphys is a challenge getting to and from, the concert was well worth the effort. I saw these guys in concert at the Cal Expo Exhibition Hall ("Tractor Shed" as Dave Crosby called it back then) sometime around 1970. That was the last time I had seen them before last night, although I've never stopped listening to their music. It was great to see them again - showing their age as we all do these days - but the music has lived on. It was a wonderful event, with lots of jokes from Nash and Crosby mixed in with the great harmonies and the beautiful (and rockin') songs they are so well-known for.

The show started out slow and you could see aging Stills and Crosby (in particular) doing what they could to warm up their voices. Stills never said a word about his voice that was very raspy and had little power behind it. Crosby joked in and said that he had a sore throat and that with that it was the only part on his body that seemed to work! Nash never seemed to miss a beat in handling the highs and harmonies that he was always so capable at delivering! As the show continued CS&N not only warmed in voice but their instrumentation (especially Stephen Stills' guitar work!) and comforting banter with one another turned the corner of their overall performance to produce a show turned out to be a real blast! They're genius talent as musicians came through in the end even though many of their years may have been "wasted on the way".

Three living legends Crosby, Stills & Nash took the stage before an adoring, sold-out crowd at the lovely outdoor Murphys Amphitheatre Saturday night. The 2-1/2-hour show justified their legendary standing, but for different reasons than might have been in years past, when CSN shows often featured long, blistering guitar solos and extended versions of classic tunes. The power and memorability of this show lay primarily in the sheer quality of the songs themselves. They included Déja Vu, Guinnevere, and Long Time Gone by David Crosby; Wasted on the Way, Our House, and Just a Song Before I Go by Graham Nash, and Helplessly Hoping, along with three Buffalo Springfield gems, Rock and Roll Woman, Bluebird, and For What It s Worth, by Stephen Stills, to name just a few of the songs delivered. And, as a change of pace, the group performed several cover songs (which are reputedly going to be featured on an upcoming album), including the Rolling Stones Ruby Tuesday, You Can Close Your Eyes, by James Taylor, Girl from the North Country, by Bob Dylan, and a spirited version of the Grateful Dead classic, Uncle John s Band. The glue which held the show together tonight was Graham Nash. Long dismissed by many as the least talented of the three, this concert put that lie to rest, hopefully permanently. Nash was in superb voice throughout (often his harmony vocal dominated lead vocals by Stills), although for the most part the trademark 3-part vocal blend was evident. The highlights of the show, however, to me, were songs on which Crosby and Nash shared the vocals. Particularly haunting (and my favorite song of the evening) was Guinnevere, Crosby s ode to three different women (two of whom he has acknowledged are his former lovers Joni Mitchell and Christine Hinton, the first great love of his life who was killed in an auto crash). Crosby mentioned several times that he had a bad sore throat, but it didn t materially affect the quality or power of his vocals. Sadly, Stephen Stills appeared to be more vocally weathered than the other two. He has lost much of his vocal power and range from years past. This did not in any respect detract from his mastery of both acoustic and electric guitars. The late, great guitarist Michael Hedges once said that [A]nyone who thinks Clapton is God never heard Stephen Stills play the acoustic guitar. True enough. And there is no doubt who the lead guitarist of this bunch is. Given Crosby s well-documented history of substance abuse, and his near-death experience prior to his liver transplant, we were in some respects lucky to have the three of them still out there on the stage together. But the somewhat hoarse remnant of Stephen s voice, compared with my memory of the earlier lithe, soulful version, added a hint of sadness to the evening. Legendary, indeed and deservedly so. They just don t write songs like that anymore. They promised to return to Murphys, and when they do, we ll be there.

C-S-N rocked as usual. They played a lot of "other people's music", which they were considering making an album of. But they played plenty of their music also. I always prefer them to be more political, as in their early days. They were political in 2006 on their Freedom Tour with Neil Young. But regardless, they bring back such good memories. We need their music today more than ever, since the politics of America divide us so much. Bring on the Freedom!!!
