These were general admission tickets. I bought tickets like this before for concerts in the Forest Hills tennis stadium so we knew to go early. The Stadium opened at noon for a 1pm show so my daughter and I got on line early so that we would could get good seats. After finding good seats and checking with an usher who confirmed it was ok to sit there we waited for the show to start. Just as it was about to begin, a lady came by and said we were sitting in her seats. After some discussion, she got another usher to come by who said the section we were sitting in was actually reserved seating (even though there was no tape, signage or any indication of it being a reserved area) and that we would have to move. Of course, the stadium was full by then so we had to go all the way up. Shown are the before and after seats. I could have taken my time and allowed my daughter to participate in more activities instead of getting on the line to get into the stadium early. It was very disappointing for her and frustrating for me. They should just assign seats when they sell tickets. The acoustics for the show was terrible and difficult to hear what people on stage were saying or hear the music well without sounding muffled.

I took my daughter and 3 friends to the 2012 Arthur Ashe Kid's Day, and all I can say is WOW! The girls were so excited to see "The Wanted," "Carly Rae Jepson" & "Owl City." Then they were blown away by an act they were not familiar with "Mindless Behavior." Seeing the tennis pros was exciting enough, but amplified by appearance by Missy Frederick & Glee's Mathew Morrison. We were all dancing in our seats, including Mom. As we drove home, one of the girls declared "This was probably the best day of my life!" So sweet! Best $10 (per person) ever spent!!! We'll do it again next year for sure!!! Only disappointment was our general admission seats CLEARLY had section, row and seat assignment - but, alas, when we got there, we were told they were arbitrary numbers and had to find our own random seats.

The kids had an unforgettable time. The performances and energy of the entertainment was wonderful. It was a great way to teach the kids about tennis while allowing them to experience the music of the artists that they love. Unfortunately, our seats weren't that great. Despite the fact that we purchased tickets, once we got to the seating area everything was "first come-first served." Next year I will definitely be sure to purchase earlier to perhaps get seating on the lower level. Also, food at the stadium is pretty pricey for those on a budget.

It's hard to point out the best part of the show because it was so entertaining. This event is definitely kid oriented and although I'm 16 years old i must say......not too loud , i always look forward to the last week in august.

Skip the chaotic, overcrowded, and frustrating events earlier in the day. The lines are too long in the blazing sun, and they close down the events at 12:30 no matter how long you've been standing there. The concert was a bargain, and the kids had a great time. Get there early since even though your ticket has a seat number, it's a free for all to get general admission seats. I also appreciated the kids meal $5.00 coupons they distributed.

Our family has been going to AAKD for several years and we always have fun, even if the weather is poor. This year the weather was great. It's a bit crowded but the people are generally friendly and the staff is helpful. The fun for us is to be at a venue for an elite sporting event- you never know who you will see walking around or practicing. The stadium show is always exciting. kudos to the organizers for booking tween-relevant acts. Loved that the celebrity doubles match was twisted into a sketch/dance number. The buses were fast and efficient and the price is reasonable ($10 for stadium show/ free for the activities). Only downer - the food line was slow (between Armstrong/Grandstand). note: chicken fingers are going to be an in-demand item - USTA needs more stands that carry that (at least for kids day). the $5 meal is a great offer (but please expand beyond pbj or hot dogs: maybe add fries or chicken in there...).

this event had to many people and very little activity for children. the lines were so long my children refuse to go on them. players were unreachable. how can they inspire children if they wouldnt take the time to spend and talk to them. i wouldnt go back my self. not worth the trouble and expensive parking fees/ horrrible seats.

It was a fun day for the kids. There was confusion with the general admission seating. Most people did not know that even though the tickets had assigned seating, that is not where you sit. They failed to tell people that general admission means that you can sit anywhere you want in the top section of the stadium. Seats were first come first serve.

Way too crowded, tickets had seat and row numbers but they did not mean anything it was all first come first serve general admission. Sound system was not working really well and main M/C did not show up.

My 9 year old had a blast watching the tennis pros. I would have liked to see more games on the court geared to 9-12 years old as it seemed a lot were for much younger kids. We loved being able to see the players up close and personal. I do wish there was a rule that only kids can be in front rows to watch professionals as the adults made it difficult (and were sometimes plain nasty) for lots of kids to get down for autographs. But overall, great gifts, the volunteers were spectacular in helping move the crowds along and keeping order.

Sounds great on paper! But the crowds for the free areas were too much and the "event" was actually being part of a studio audience taping TV segments to air the following day. Would have been nice to expose the packed crowd to some actual tennis rather than cheap gimmicks and mediocre bands.

I had an amazing time at Arthur Ashe Kids' Day 2012! I was beyond excited. My favorite performance was by The Wanted! I am a massive fan (fanmily :3) and just seeing them made me so happy. Nathan, Max and Jay waved to me! I can't wait for their upcoming tour! Carly Rae, Owl City, Rachel Crow and Mindless Behavior did great as well! Congrats to them all! xoxo

The wanted should have been the main attraction, and not the opening acts for Carlie Rae Jepsen. Though I enjoyed CRJ, I think "The Wanted" had MORE songs and BETTER hits than CRJ.

Nice event for the younger kids (under 10). Must get there EARLY to take advantage of the clinics. Show was decent, but was under the impression that our tix that said "GA" for General Admission allowed us access anywhere on first serve basis - not true. Only the very top tier access. A little disappointing, but still had a fun day.

As always, the USTA and Arthur Ashe estate put on a phenomenal day for children to get close to their heros and she-roes of tennis - there were lots of great activities and the concert was fun too. The only drawbacks were (1) the Mets game taking place the same day, which made parking almost impossible (Next year I'll definitely take the train!) and (2) the $10 tickets were affordable, but when you went to find your seat, the stadium attendants just said "find something 'up there' if you can". no bueno for me with a 5 and 6 year old in tow...

Our kids loved the music acts in Arthur Ashe Stadium, but I thought the music at the Hess stage was also great. The numbers of kids playing the tennis games on the outside courts was exciting, but to play with them would have required sacrificing the rest of the grounds because the lines were long and there just wasn't enough time.

1. 45 min of slow moving traffic on Grand Central Parkway to get to the $22 parking lot 2. Short walk to entrance and short security queue 3. Quite a few kids activities (like face painting) but very long queues 4. Long queues for the restrooms The show: 1. Very bad sound system hardly anything audible: The performances, MC or the tennis stars speaking could hear nothing 2. Kids got completely restless 3. A completely disconnected order of events. Hardly any engagement from the crowd apart from when the stars came to the court. 4. The performances were sprinkled throughout the 2 hours with some random stuff happening in between. As soon as the crowd started to get a hang of what was being performed, it was over. My kids don't want to go again.

We very much enjoyed the opportunity to see all of the greatest tennis players in the world practicing. The improved seating opportunities for practice sessions are a really nice addition. The musical performances were energetic and big fun. Would like to see improvements to the traffic flow and parking. Prior years have been much better in that regard. Some concession stands were out of certain basic food and drink items that typically are always stocked up. Autograph opportunities for kids could be better.

I think that organisers need to make this day more about tennis and less about music. As it stands it appeals greatly to teens more so than kids overall and a greater emphasis on tennis would set that right

Extremely disappointing for my nieces, nephews, little brother and sister. Three hours of free events that will take 1-3 hours to participate in 1-2 events out of 5+ events. Does injustice to Arthur Ashe! On top of that, costs to eat and drink anything on the grounds is 3-4 times more than buying outside food. I bought tickets for the concert for $29, which was scheduled for 12:30pm but nothing started after sitting under the sun with blowup clappers for 45 minutes to an hour. I'm a New Yorker from Queens and like tennis. Was discouraging for kids who don't play tennis who I invited to come. They just did a lot of standing and walking in a big playground that had water mist fans.

The event itself was wonderful. It was great seeing such a diverse turnout at a tennis event. The website was difficult to navigate. There were kids events where the kids could use their own rackets, but the website said that rackets were prohibited. Parking was a disaster. It wasn't clear on the website how to prepay for parking. Having a 5 year old walk a mile after an event like this was not happiness for anyone. The well known music stars were as diverse as the crowd. The unknowns were monolithic and no reflection of the diversity of NYC or the attending audience.

Grounds are open to everyone , you do not need a ticket so you can just imagine how crowded it was. You couldn't even walk around without bumping into someone. The show was weak, same as last year. Kids hated it. Event has potential but needs to be totally revamped. For one they should not open the gates to the general public.

I was so excited to take my three kids, 8 year old twin boys and a 5 year old girl to Kids day for the first time, however, I was apprehensive after reading reviews that parking was disorganized, event too crowded with unbearable lines. I have to say I was very disappointed that the reviews from previous years were correct. Parking is a mess, poorly marked, making it very tough to find your car again at the end of the day. The lines made Disney world look good. At noon many of the popular courts were already closed. Once inside the stadium things flowed more smoothly. Kids said they would not go back for court activities...sad!

A lot of activities for everyone. Very organized and fun for children as well as adults. The players and talent who participated in activities were funny and accommodating. Food and drinks are a bit pricey, but it's the U.S. Open. The spritzer fans should be around the entire grounds area. Good Times for All.

I have gone to Kids' Day in previous years but it was never as bad an experience as this year was. It was so poorly managed from the entrance right up to the event! I hope they got their act together as far as parking and shuttle buses and entrance gate!! It took almost 2 hours to get from the exit ramp for the stadium on the Grand Central Parkway to the actual venue!! That is totally unacceptable! I am sorry that this was so badly coordinated and I will probably never go again. My grandchildren couldn't get to do anything because by the time we got to an event they closed the line since it was too late! We waited in traffic lines inside the park from 9:30 until 11:30 but then couldn't do anything else!! Just a horrible day and it shouldn't have been. Then where the seats were for the concert were fine but we couldn't bring the stroller up and the baby was sleeping so one of us had to walk around the venue until she woke up then had to give up the stroller and carry her all the way up the stands!! Since this was "KIDS'" day I would think some consideration should be made. So all in all it was not an event that I will attend again.

I purchased tickets to this event. But on the day of the event, there was no parking to be found. The lots which are usually used for the event were closed. In addition, the police and event people who were directing traffic had no idea when or if the parking lot would open and they kept directing me to a lot on College Avenue. Well, there is no parking lot on College avenue. Quite a frustrating day all around.

Organizers should start charging everyone so you can control the crowd...2 hours to just park the car and another hour and half to pick up the car is really bad management of the facilities. Not again, I find it easier to park and enjoy the games and practice courts on regular days as the concert is nothing to write about but too much crowd and too little is organized as to how it flows

One of the worst US Open experiences I have had. The parking lot under the subway where we always park was closed so we ended up driving around in circles looking for another option. There was no one to direct cars and there was only one sign that indicated parking for the US Open. We followed this sign which lead us to the same parking spot that was closed. There were no other signs, so we ended up parking a mile away in the shopping center. For a world class event it is unexceptable that my family would have to walk around raw sewage spilled on the streets to get to the tennis. So now we are delayed almost two hours because of the parking mess which made us miss all of the events before the concert. So now we get into Arthur Ash Stadium and there is no one the direct people to their seats. Finally we find someone and we are told that the seats on our tickets do not mean anything. It is first come, first serve seating. Finally the performers start and because the sound is of such poor quality that we can not hear anything anyone is saying. The organization of this event was extremely poor and made the whole experience very frustrating for our whole family.

I loved the idea and concept of this event. But the seating arrangement was a nightmare. No one could help us at the stadium to figure out where were our seats. The tkts had assigned seats but when we got there, we were told after asking 5 staff people that they were general seating so first come first basis. So why were there seats #s on the tkts?! It was very difficult to go up and down with a 9 and a 5 year old. this ruined the whole experience. Also the acoustic on the top level (300+) was awful. So the concert was lost and we left half time. Kids were very disappointed! If Novac didn't show up it would have been a total waste of our time!

It was nice and there was plenty to do however, the lines are soooo long we only had time to do the Virtual Realty game. My only suggestion is to get there early and pick one event you really want to do as there might not be time for anything else. Also, they don't allow back packs and aerosol sunscreen so leave those at home.

this was our first time at AAKD...had hoped for so much more. Parking was atrocious. It took an hour to find the lot that they were allowing cars to go in - plus had to navigate traffic from all other cars to get there. I've been to the US Open many other years/days, and never had a problem like this with the lots. It seemed like they closed many of them for the Mets game in the afternoon. The event itself was crowded - which resulted in long lines to participate in any of the attractions (like face painting or hair beading). We tried to escape the crowds by enjoying a nice lunch at one of the restaurants...only to realize that 2 of the 3 restaurants were closed (why would you have restaurants closed during the event! There were a ton a people there!) The show in AA stadium was disjointed and underwhelming. You could barely hear "Shawn T" and Brooke Taylor's involvement was totally unnecessary - she contributed nothing. We left an hour into the show when it was clear that it wasn't going to get any better.

David Ferrer was so intense. His practice session w Gasquet felt like a real match. They didn't hold back. They gave us an awesome show. Gasquet's serve I'd like to try to return. :D Ferrer was so hard on himself when he made a mistake. The Spanish blood is full of fuego! Awesome to have witnessed that session. My son got Kei Nishikori's autograph. He was kind of rude to us. But that's ok! I found out that he just had surgery, I guess that's why his practice session wasn't so good. There was so much to do and see that we missed 90% of the show. By the time we got there the stars were leaving so we caught 2 performances.

First things first.the timing for the events were real short.I took my daughter as a birthday gift but she was upset because she wasn't able to participate in the events because of the amount of people and time.plus I feel they should of had a certain time set up for the kids to be able to take pics and get autographs with the stars that were there.my 13 year old daughter was in tears because she really likes Serena Williams and mindless behavior and wanted a pic and autograph for her birthday. Plus the seating was just all messed up.I am very dissatisfied of the services we got especially traveling that far for my daughter birthday and her not leaving there happy.

The event in general has a fantastic atmosphere, the crowd was nice , we were able to see Murray, Nadal, Federer, training. BUT, once inside the stadium for the concert the acoustic was terrible!!!, it was much better in previous years without the roof. Whoever designed the place did not take into account the acoustic. One thing is to go for a game, and a totally different thing is to go for a concert, you can not hear a thing, just mumbling . I will definitely go back to the event to enjoy the grounds, but I am not planning to pay for the concert ticket again, it is not worthy.

Kid's Day is good for kids that are 12 years old and younger. Not so good for teenagers. Its mostly for young kids that enjoy face painting; tattoos; balloon animals; story telling etc. Not so much to offer for older kids. Except for the enjoyment of the over priced foods. The food was good and there were many types of food offered. Just wish the cost of the meals were a bit cheaper. The show at the stadium was lame. Again it was geared toward little kids. The hosts were young actors/singers from Disney. The performers this year was not so hot. Wish they invited bigger named performers that appeal to a larger age range of audiences At least last year they had Flo-Rida which even adults know and enjoy. Many years ago there were a lot more freebies given out. Now the only freebies given out was a CHASE plastic piggy bank which was actually the same thing they gave out last year. At least they should give out something different. They did gave caps but again its only for younger kids, Teenagers gets zippo nada sqwat. The only great thing that appeal to older kids and adults like myself is to watch the professional tennis players practice. And you were able to get seats that are close up and watch them. Which was quite cool. I though the parking there was horrible. There was no direction to point out where to exactly park. We literally circled the entire park and could not find the lot. Finally I stopped to ask someone and they said to park by Citifield. And the cost was $25 which I thought was a bit high, But it was a short walk to the Stadium. I think last year I parked in a lot that was $10 but had to wait on a long line to get onto a shuttle bus which got us to the stadium. And it was even a longer wait for the bus at the end of the day to get back to our car. So maybe paying the $25 was not so bad after all considering. Enough said. My final comment is I will not take my teenage kids there again. For the future for myself. If it was a beautiful day with nothing else to do I may go just to watch the pros practice for a bit. Take the subway in Carry a plastic bottle of water with me in. Plan on eating out afterwards. And definitely not pay to go into stadium to watch the dumb show. It should be more enjoyable and lot less costly.

Last year the event seemed more organized with more activities and items for the kids. Constructions was ongoing for a new court and the temporary Louis Armstrong court was located behind this, with no signs directing patrons. This year seemed to be haphazardly put together and last years concert was much more entertaining and the headliner was a known artist as opposed to random Disney Channel and YouTube entertainers.

Music was disappointing. Very little tennis - no exhibition games at all. Practices were better on other days. Way too much Disney advertising and no content.

Only 2 shuttle buses to transport customers to the stadium. We waited about 40 minutes which was equal to the shuttles returning 3 times. Once inside the area every line was ridiculously long. Face painting line was cut short due to overcrowds. The assistance blatantly told us "they didnt anticipate the crowd"..thus our daughter and many others were turned away. Ditto for character balloons. If you read someone enjoyed themselves their child had face painted or made the line to get a free character balloon. We arrived seemingly early, (11 am) and place was packed. Our seats for the 1pm show were fine. We didnt seek info on the performers and thus only knew the host. Good thing we captured great pics of Rafa, Venus and Federer otherwise it wouldve been boring. Oh, yes and good thing the roof was closed and the a/c was on.

Spent a great deal of time traveling from upstate, Poughkeepsie area, to get to the event. Spent most of the time standing in lines for everything, food, activities, Arthur Ashe show. The show was disappointing, the sound in the stadium was terrible. Couldn't understand most of the interviews. I would not go to this event again unless I lived close by.

Should be free not that entertaining. They can make plenty of money on the food stand to pay the acts as we all know the food is over priced.

This is our 3rd year coming to AAKD and the day is amazing! Each year we rush out to the stadium to experience the sights and sounds and each year it seems more and more exciting. Seeing the practices and experiencing tennis like this in NYC is truly a treat. The Concert: The only complain is in the stadium and for the third year in a row, the sound during the concert wasn't good at all. The first year we went you could barely hear because the microphones kept going out. last year the sound was muffled to the point where one of the singers after the show was over came back out to redo his song. this year Sofia's microphone went in and out and it felt as if they were catering to the TV audience and not us in the stadium. I might rethink the 10 buck nosebleeds next year.

Normally this day is full of fun activities and awesome giveaways for the kids with a concert that has at least one noteable name that makes the kids beg their parents to buy a ticket. None of that was true this year. Noteable absentees were past sponsors Hess - we miss their incredible trucks & planes they gave away. We miss the Time Warner area that had the BEST giveaway of all- artist that grew caricatures of each child playing tennis! I know it's owned by a different company but where was spectrums presence? The concert was the worst EVER! The acts were HORRIBLE & I never saw so many people leave DURING a show that you paid for!!! It was that bad! I stayed because I kept hoping it would get better but it never did. I purchased 8 tickets to the concert & invited my nephews for the first time because every year we have a blast but this time I was embarrassed! Staff at the end of the show just made it all worse. I was taking my toddler niece to the bathroom& was told by staff it was closed go down one level but when I arrived at the next level the supervisor- Tom said no one could have told me to come their or was for Suite/ vips only. Way to go Arthur Ashe Kid's Day staff for almost making a toddler wet herself are the toilet seats on the main level of the stadium made of gold? To not allow a toddler access to relieve herself is heartless! The food was soooooo overpriced. I spent $6 for a Gatorade and spent over $100 to feed 4 kids chicken fingers!!!! I don't believe anyone of them really wants to come back again. I know I don't! This is sad because we have awesome memories of past years before this new sponsor - Next generation, took over hopefully they get better

US open Arthur Ashe Day is really for younger kids. I brought my 15 years old and there was not a whole lot for them to do. They are beyond face painting: juggling; animal balloons. Very disappointed with the freebies. Not much was given out. What was given out was a nice Kids Day blue cap but it was only for 12 years old or younger which sucks. Can't they give out to everyone who attends this event, I remembered past years when they gave out free T-Shirts; key chains; lanyards even tennis rackets. This year we got free sample coffee and a small piggy bank. What a bummer. I also thought the parking price of $23 was a bit much. Good thing was they did have nice air conditioned coach buses that shuttled you to and from the parking lot. The transportation was well organized. Now here's some positive feedback: It was nice that they did allow you to bring in food and drinks from the outside. Also even though the the concession food prices are high the food was very good. And a lot of different kinds of food was offered. I had Korean food which was delicious.

This was my first time going to Arthur Ashe Kids' Day. I usually go when the US Open officially begins. I have never encountered problems with parking before and not sure if this was a one off incident or this always happens on Arthur Ashe Kids' Day, but we were directed so out of our way to park our cars, that it took an extra 40 minutes to park and then either had to take a shuttle to the venue or walk. I do know that when the tennis tournament begins, anyone who has a Mercedes Benz and parks doesn't have to pay for parking. Apparently that doesn't pertain to Arthur Ashe Kids' Day. We purchased tickets to see the concert inside Arthur Ashe Stadium. They didn't start on time (and when you have kids...it's very difficult to sit and wait) and then they started with just a whole bunch of nonsense stuff which just was completely non entertaining. I really would not recommend it at all.

Getting in and out of the city is torturous for me but there were signs and attendants directing where to go. Parking was steep at 23$. We walked in the gates at 11:45 and by the time we got to were the kids activities were the signs said line closes at 12:00 so unfortunately we didn't get to do any of that. I knew they ended at 12:30 but would've liked to have been forewarned about lines closing earlier. We liked the ease of walking into the seating to watch practice of players that was really neat. Cool to be so close up to Nadal and others. Getting in to the Arthur Ashe Stadium for the concert was ok but we beat the crowds a little by getting in around 12:30. However, the food stands were not all ready, the chicken finger stand was waiting on gas and took over 45 mins. That was not fun because i walked down to second level to check for food as well but they had other options. Good options, but not chicken fingers. everyone says how overpriced but i found it the same as all other venues i have been at. we had general admission tickets and they were good, no problem seeing the entertainers. however, would we go back probably not.

My 13 and 16 yr. old grandkids really enjoyed watching the pros practice on the courts. The show in Arthur Ashe Stadium was a big disappointment. Glad I only spent 10.00 a ticket for general admission. Could have saved the money and just watched the practices for free. Then I could have put the money towards the bad food and ridiculously high-priced bottles of water, at 4.50 for a small bottle, it's outrageous. Glad I don't ever have to go again!

Beside the poorly or non-existent signs or directions for parking, the long waits for everything, broken escalators, unruly crowds of tennis-ignorant free loaders, it was okay but not worth the 2 hours one-way drive.

Beyond the fact that when purchasing the ticket for the Arthur Ashe Kids day concert, I was unaware that the REST of the grounds were open to anyone without a ticket to the concert, there was NO information given to us as to where we could park or what events we could partake in at the venue. The parking was abysmal and we were sent from lot to lot to lot with no answers as WHERE we could park. Once we arrived, the grounds were beyond crowded and were told we had to get to the stadium over an hour earlier than originally planned due to the First Lady being there so the kids could not do anything else. It took over an hour PAST the start time to actually begin, meaning over 2 1/2 hours sitting around the stadium with NOTHING to do. Once we were seated, with tickets that were sold as "open seating", people came much later and were telling others in the area that they had those seats (as seats were printed on the ticket along with OPEN SEATING) and causing arguments and A LOT of stress. Once the "concert" began, it just got worse. The musical acts all lip synced (and not well) except for a surprise appearance by The Wanted (who were AWESOME), barely interacted with the crowd OR the tennis players and came on to sing one or two songs at most and left. The tennis pros were great and the challenges fun to watch but again, not much interaction with the crowd or musicians. Overall, the event was dreadful, sound systems not great, show was unexciting and the kids HIGHLY disappointed. I had spoken with friends who have gone to this for a few years and they said this year was horrendous and they were not sure they would plan to return.

It was my first time at US Open and I decided to check out Kids' Day as well. The atmosphere was good, because it was before the tournament and the players were all very relaxed and willing to sign for everyone. Just be at the right time at the right place. A good day to navigate yourself with courts before the tournament starts.
