This is my wife's favorite show and I've never seen it until now. We sat on the side about 10 rows back from the front. They were great seats, so I thought. First, I would say that the show started way too late (8pm) for a 3 hour show. Second, it was really hard to hear from my angle. I was able to listen hard and understand what they were singing, but after 1 hour, 2 hours and 3 hours....I got tired of concentrating because it was getting much later in the evening. A couple of recommendations for everyone: 1. Read the story of the play in the program they give you before you see the show. It helped me to follow what was going on without understanding what they were singing. (Yes, it's all singing...be ready for that) 2. Get seats in the middle of this venue.

I had always wanted to see the play of Les Miserables and brought 3 girlfriends who were not so sure if they wanted to see it. I assured them that it would be amazing and the performance delivered an unforgettable performance and then some! All 3 friends just loved it and I loved it more than I imagined!

An Amazing story of redemption on so many levels, performed by amazingly talented teens at every level. What commitment. What passion. What excellence. They did Victor Hugo proud.

I have seen Les Miserables 3 times now and of all the shows I have seen it remains my favorite. This production with it's new scenery effects was amazing. However we were with a group of 6 and all of us were very disappointed with the sound system at the Marcus Center. I know the show very well so it was slightly less of a problem, however those of my group who had not seen the show before had alot of difficulty understanding the words. The vocal ability of all the cast members was superb, but the story line is equally important. It seemed to more of a problem when the singers were down stage near the edge of the orchestra pit - they were somewhat drowned out by the musicians. Have had that same problem with other productions in this house. Still remains my favorite.

This is the 25th year Anniversary for the legendary musical Les Miserables. The songs were as beautiful as ever. The cast was absolutely top-notch. The stage scenery was magnificent. Gone now is the former stage which on a revolving turn table now replaced by lavish settings and Victor Hugo inspired back drops. It was truly a most memorable night.

The performance was amazing...I had goosebumps most of the time. The set of the barricade was ingenious and thrilling...all the voices were wonderful! Can't believe I hadn't seen this earlier in my life...so many songs I already know by heart. Too bad about the Packer t-shirt at the end and the shameless pitch for donations. I wanted to remember the actors in character!!

Worst production I have seen. My husband wanted to leave at intermission. Weak vocals, terrible lighting and sound. The performance felt very rushed, like they were trying to cut 15 minutes off the show. Maybe they needed to because at the end of the show, we had to listen to a PBS-like plea for donations. We were very disappointed because we really were looking forward to the show.

If you are a longtime Les Mis fan, it is difficult to not enjoy it thuroughly. That being said there were some disappointing aspects to this 25th Anniversary production. The entire first act seemed rushed, almost as if they were told, this needs to be done in 3 hours. Some of the leads were very weak. Fantine sounded and looked like she was 12 years old. Eponine seemed lost and her voice was all over the place. The climax to the end of the first act was definitely not as spectacular as the original production. The scene where Javare jumps from the bridge, does not work. The mechaical lift did not give the same effect without the strobing. One thing that really angered me was a TV monitor off stage right that was totally visible. When I turned my attention toward Valjean as he was dying, all I could see was the glare of a TV monitor. Overall, it was OK, but not worth revisiting.

Seldom do I go to a play or musical and get "goose bumps! This one I did. The voices of Jean Valjean, Javert, and Marius were felt in the back rows. The parting of Javert was really creative. I really enjoyed the digital effects , especially the tunnel. Some little distractions were the noise of moving the barricades while a song was being sung and the moving arms of the conductor shadowed on the upper walls of the hall. Sitting in the back made it hard to clearly see the characters especially since the spotlight was often only on their face. When Eponine sang "On My Own" it seemed like she shouted parts of it out rather than crying it out. Whatever she did, the song did not "grab me" like it should have. I was really glad I was able to bring my family to this event.

What an amazing performance. At times the mics were too quiet and it was hard to hear when the singing was in the lower registers or was just really soft and perhaps it was because it was the first night's performance but other than that, it was awe-inspiring. Beautiful voices and the acting was really very good and polished. The sets were incredible...really blow you away at times. I loved how they portrayed the death of Javert and Valjean carrying Marius through the sewers. Really enjoyed the performance a lot. Jean Valjeans prayer "bring him home" was amazing. I loved the beginning in the boat, the rowing prisoners.

We have never seen Les Miserables before but have been to the theatre many times. From New York to Chicago to Las Vegas to England we have enjoyed many plays. We were disappointed for a few reasons. #1- at times it was very difficult to hear what the actors were singing, we are not old or hard of hearing but strained at times to understand dialogue. #2- Lighting was very dark and being in the back it was hard to tell who the characters were at times. #3 Though some of the actors were very good, the majority of the singing was just so,so. #4 For almost $100 a ticket it was hard to walk away not really happy about the show.

This play was awesome and I cannot get over the amount and depth of talent in this area. I have seen 4 or 5 plays on Broadway and the quality of this performance was right on par with these! The talent and the sets were terrific for this production. I think it compared well with professional productions in large cities. Unfortunately, the sound quality was so poor that it greatly interfered with our enjoyment. We could only understand about one word in three, particularly when many members were singing at the same time. It seems to have been a combination of the acoustics in the hall and the sound system. I do not fault the cast at all. If the Playhouse is going to do another musical of this magnitude, perhaps they need to find a different venue. It was really too bad to see all that wonderful talent wasted.

We are great fans of Les Miserables and have seen it in many venues over the years. We purchased the tickets to the DECC and thought it would be an adequate rendition. From the moment the curtain rose to the final bow, we were spell bound. It was reasonable to assume that there would be one, or several stand out performers in a local production. Every single person on the stage was a stand out. The casting, costuming, set.....all of it.....perfection! Bravo!!

The Duluth Playhouse, Duluth Superipr Symphony Orchestra, Minnesota Ballet production of Les Misrables went way beyond what one can expect of local talent from a community the size of Duluth Superior. The entire production, including vocals, orchestra, choreography, set and lighting were all on a professional level that one could expect to experience only in a major city. Kudos to everyone involved with this wonderful production.

The DECC was a wonderful place for the staging of Les Miserables, the voices were strong and the musicians were amazing. I heard people complain about the ticket price, but I felt it was well worth the cost. The scenery worked well for all of the changes and it was easy to imagine Fantine in the hospital, and the prisoners rowing a boat. My only regret is that we didn't get tickets earlier to be closer to the stage.

Les Miserables is one of my favorite plays, and this performance at the DECC was my favorite performance of the play. It was done to perfection. Each member of the cast was superb in his/her role. The costuming was wonderful. The set , though very simple, was effective!. Everything about the play caused me to wish that the evening wouldn't end!!! The duets performed by both Eponine and Marius and Cosette and Marius were breathtaking...as was the song at the end of the play with Jean Valjean, Fantine, Cosette, and Marius. The revolution battle scene was so very well done. I could go on and on!!! The entire play was wonderful!!!!! Each and every cast member was wonderful!! The Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra was perfect. So much talent!! The Orchestra did not overpower the vocals, yet its presence was known and felt throughout the play. I will remember this production forever. I am so glad that I chose to make the 100 mile journey to attend this production of Les Miserables. Thank you everyone, for your efforts to entertain and delight the audience. It was evident that you love the play too!!!

We made a special trip to Duluth from southern Minnesota and it was worth it. We have seen many productions of this show--from the touring Broadway troupe to the Chanhassen to the recent film--and this show measured up well. The lead characters all sounded fantastic. They deserved the standing ovation given at the end of the show. My husband was very impressed with the sets. We were there on opening night, and although ther did seem to be some technical difficulties with the sound system, it did not detract from the quality of the show.

The new sets allow for reinterpretation of the libretto and allow for more acting and more visual interest. This particular cast has a great set of voices. Javier was fantastic in a way that I have never heard before. Also, Eponine played by Chasten Harmon was truly, truly exceptional. Her ability to purely capture a note and attenuate it is second to none! Great job!!!

Although I didn't like some of the casting, the music of Les Miserables wins out every time. I love the score and the emotion it conveys. Le Miz is my favorite musical. My husband and I had 2nd row seats and we were just amazed. The acting was incredibly well done, the storylines were believable, and the music was fabulous. Les Mis is packed with info and feeling and sometimes that makes it a little difficult to keep up but since we already knew the story line, we didn't have any trouble. Awesome experience - one I would definitely recommend.

Took my mom to see Les Miserables at the nearby Riverside theatre and sincerely enjoyed it. The intimate setting was a breath of fresh air and truly allowed every seat to be spectacular. After seeing multiple productions at the Pantages in Los Angeles, I was slightly skeptical of the quality of experience we would have, but I was pleasantly surprised! Our positive outing certainly motivates me to tune into other opportunities at this theatre. My only complaint: they ran out of playbills by 7:45 p.m. when the theatre was less than half full!

A high school quality production with little chemistry in the cast, lighting that hid faces, uneven female chorus and stage direction that confused with busy blocking. An annoying device of having the line character either center stage, or the chorus was busy tossing the flag to the one with the next line. Rich Schaffner as the Bishop characterized the gravitas of the musical with his physical bearing, strong voice and well-timed movements.Paul Kehler did a fine job of creating of the complexity and narrow chink in the armor that allowed our audience sympathy to enter. The tempi went too brightly to allow words to be understood by the chorus. I have seen this production several times and hope that first time viewers have the same opportunity.

The Fox Performing Arts Theatre is a beautiful venue but the performance of Les Miserables was less so. The actor playing Jean Valjean was not a good enough singer to play this part. His terrible performance was a distraction at best. The actors portraying Javert, Fantine, and Enjolas, however, were outstanding and deserve their own encore. The sets looked like high school theatre sets and were unimpressive. Overall, the experience was not worth the cost.

A+ to the orchestra, many of the vocals (top were The Bishop, Javert and Enjorles), barricade set and death scene at the barricade. B- to the sewer scene C- to the most of the set, the technical sound (microphones either too much treble to understand the words (I understood about 1/3 of the inn keepers wife), overall staging lacked character. D- to the casts connection to each other. At no time was I moved to emotion. They did not, for me, create he depth of character necessary for Les miserable. They didn't seem to be a part of the same musical. Just separate characters on a stage. This is not to say every moment but overall. I will always give credit to those that get on stage and perform. I applaud you for that!

I told a friend I was going to Les Miserables, and never having seen it before, she suggested I read about it first, so I had an "idea" of the story line. I am so glad I did or I am afraid I would have been lost. The cast and orchestra were excellent. Knowing one of the characters personally, made it that much better. This was a simply superb production of Les Miz, with excellent singing and orchestra. The acting and costuming were very good. The pacing was spot-on, without ever a gap or awkward moment as actors moved on and off. My only complaint was that very little of the action was played center stage. Far too often, crucial scenes were enacted on the catwalk, back underneath it, or on the crude steps on both sides of the stage. Since I was sitting only three seats in from the right-hand wall, this meant that there were several scenes which I missed entirely. Who stages a play in such a way that a good portion of the audience has to miss scenes? The worst was the scene at the end as Jean Valjean was dying and was reunited once more with Cosette. If they had just brought the action down to the lowest landing on those steps, everyone could have seen it. As it was, everyone in the three or four seats on the right side of the theatre was reduced to leaning left in a fruitless attempt to see what was going on. By the same token, scenes staged on the opposite side steps were far away. These side areas were sometimes used well, as brief bits passed there, or for movement, but when the actors spent several minutes there, I couldn't help but think it would have been better if they had been closer to the audience and visible to all. However, that is a minor gripe about a production which was simply fabulous in every other respect. My greatest respect and praise to all the fine actors and singers.

nice performance by actors. good sets. very good motion and movements. singing was nice also. good lighting too. enjoyed these aspects. However, the sound mixing and acoustics were horrible. could not hear through the muddy bass laden speakers and dead sound of the auditorium. the sound people dropped the ball. this was on opening night .my 19 year old daughter couldn't hear or understand 70 % of play. the sound stripped the success from the play for us. the audio folks need to get up and about to check what they Think is working. the computers and mixing boards can't do that.

I went with two of my friends. All three of us absolutely loved the show. The actors/actresses made it seem so real. They are all very talented and I would definitely see them again!!

I have been to the NYC Broadway production of Les Miserable, and UTEP Dinner Theater was comparible in performance. The set designs were awesome. Fantine was amazing! Greg Taylor should be commended on his hard work, vision and dedication to the El Paso Community!

Fantastic production of Les Mis! Have see many times at different venues from broadway to community theater, and this ranks up there with one of the best. Best Javert Ive seen! While not ALfie Boe, he was very close as Jean Val Jean

About 10 years ago I saw the Broadway production of Les Mis and have never forgotten it. Now that my kids are old enough I wanted to take them to see it as well. The performers at Drury Lane could go toe-to-toe with the others....they were so talented. It wasn't lacking at all in that area! They were terrific! The orchestra was beautiful as well. The only area that seemed a little underwhelming was the size of the stage. They were limited on what they could do, but that being said, they made the most of it. I just wasn't "blown away" by the entire production like I was in the past. But that couldn't be helped. The performances were brilliant and my family all loved it. I would definitely go back.

Our experience was perfect. Dinner and a show at Dury Lane is the perfect date night for any couple. We sat front row for the show and had the best time ever. I can't wait until another opportunity arises to visit.

Great show. Wonderful adaptation for this theater. Extraordinary cast performances by Jean Valjean and Javert portrayers. Only downside was the child actors did not have powerful enough voice to project

One of the best productions anywhere in the country. As a professional musician myself, I tend to listen to the orchestra a little more while still taking in what is going on with the cast. The orchestra was the best I have heard play this show. This includes National Tours and Broadway. Completely working together as professional musicians should. Outstanding! The cast was absolutely superb especially Javert! His stage presence and diction was a clinic for performers. Enjolvas, Marius, Cosette, Eponine and Fantine were perfectly cast and performed. To me I thought the Valjean was the weakest vocally. His upper range lacked breath support and sounded like a young boy instead of man trying to find himself and doing better with his life.

This was as good as any Broadway play that I've seen (and I've seen many Broadway plays in NYC!) The entire cast was excellent but the actors who played Jean Valjean and Javier were outstanding! It brought me to tears! I loved every minute of it! Go see it! It was powerful!

Amazing! Very impressive for a small stage. I have seen Les Mis several times, Chicago, NYC, London...did not think this production would be as good. Quentin Earl Darrington was absolutely the very best Javert I have EVER SEEN. And...Christina Nieves stole my heart in her performance as Eponine! I would highly recommend anyone see this company's performance. Very Well Done! Bravo!

To think that this was little o'l EL Paso. The talent was unbelievable! The stage settings, the wardrobe, the music was beyond anything I had expected. I could have been in a theater in any big metro area but no, I was at the UTEP Theater seeing yet another great presentation. This particular production exceeding all my expectations. I applaud the wonderful talent that is right here in El Paso. BRAVO!

Another fantastic production at Drury Lane. We've seen Les Miserables numerous times at other venues and this one at Drury Lane was superb. Top notch performers with beautiful singing voices. Joe Tokarz, particularly, is one of the best Jean Valjeans we have seen/heard!! Thank you for a wonderful theatrical experience.
