Keeping it short and simple... overall, the event is a must go to event even if you re not the biggest golf fan. It s just fun. Three things I d recommend if you don t like the big crowd go earlier in the week ie friday, come early Saturday morning or later in the afternoon. I d say Sunday but the SB will usually be on. The only real downfalls I had were these. It s called the WMO the greenest show on grass but there was trash everywhere. I was at 16 and there was cans littering the stands, not enough trash receptacles. The next thing is that there doesn t seem to be enough bathroom for anyone. I witnessed a guy pee in a beer can because the lines were too long.

The greatest people watching Show on Earth, just also happens to be a golf tournament. Despite the hundreds of thousands people in attendance the venue was extremely well organized.

I was able to go to the golf tournament on 2 different days. I would recommend going during the pro am rather than a tournament day. The pros are more willing to give autographs and the crowds are much smaller. Then again if you are there for the crowd and the loud 16th hole you can't get that unless you go during the tournament.

We were amazed that this tournament was so well organized and moved thousands of people around the course. The way the course is designed, with lots of hills around the fairways and greens, it is possible to see all the action, either close up along the ropes or standing up on a hill. The volunteers were knowledgable and very friendly. Sitting in the bleachers at the 16th hole if totally a fun experience. We had a blast and will definately go again next year.

First time at this event. Fun venue, easy to watch the players up close. Crowds weren't bad on Thursday. Food and drink all cost $7, not allowed to carry in food. What was really disappointing was that having been to the Tucson TPC last year and Barrett Jackson this year with timely return shuttles to your car we walked out of this event to stand in line and were told it would be an hour and forty-five minutes before we would step on a bus!!! This is very poor planning and execution. The only negative of the whole event. We ended up walking back to our car (along with many others), about a 50 minute fast paced walk from the golf course to our car at WestWorld.

The tournament was amazing! The set-up was incredible! I can't believe how well it was organized. Nor can I believe how much fun it was. The birdsnest was the not well planned. As soon as I walked in I remarked to my friends "this is a disaster waiting to happen." Approximately 15 cops surrounded a person that had most likely been punched. We couldn't get in to the birdsnet as both entrances were packed with more people than the entry could hold. Getting a beer took 25 minutes. We finally got in and had an amazing time. O.A.R put on an incredible performance! We were finally able to get a drink and enjoy ourselves. However if you had to go to the bathroom you had to hold tight or head for the bathrooms. Seems simple, right? No! The fire marshal would not allow anyone to re-enter even though you had a ticket in hand. The event was clearly oversold.

It's was our first time attending an event like this, so we didn't know what to expect, etc. We got there at 8:00 am in the morning, went to the 16th hole and sat front row. We stood the whole time and the group of guys that were next to us had been attending for 3 years. It was so exciting to watch all the players come thru the 16th hole and cheer them on...It was a great experience, a great day, had so much fun! We are going back next year and making it a tradition! Loved it! My favorite moment was when I caught Ricky Barnes's golf ball on the 16th hole and my boyfriend caught Phil Mickelson's golf ball! Great Souvenirs that we will always remember! I love Ricky Barnes and I'm such a big fan, so to catch that golf ball was a dream come true! My boyfriend was thrilled to catch Phil's because he is a Phil Bigtime Fan! So we were both so excited the whole day!

If you don't like crowds this probably isn't for you. Especially on Sat. with all the drunk kids. I would suggest going on any of the other days when you don't have to wait in line for everything. I don't think they have enough bathrooms or concessions, but what event does. The weather is usually marvelous and its great to be outdoors.

If you want a college party vibe w/out the trashy downside. This is the event for you. I'm older and brought my teen durning the morning rounds, then we played golf in the afternoon. The real crazy happens later. Perfect for family days and hot nights. Everybody should do this at least one time. Great Buddy's Trip weekend. Would be very cool to co-host an LPGA event on other course at the same time. When the golf fans want a break from the madness they could watch the skill players on the other side.

Attended the Waste Management Phoenix Open (The People's Open) on Thursday and had the time of our lives. Each year is better than the one before and this year is no exception. 104,000 + people, great weather and great golf, what more is there. The tournament does a wonderful job of making the experience one of a life time. It is something that truly should be experienced if you are a sports fan. Even if golf is not your thing, the event is worth spending a day enjoying the weather and the atmosphere. Only thing that could make this better is Tiger being there, although if he were to show up not sure how they would handle the crowd! Highly recommended.

Easy in and out. Great course and LOTS of places to view great golf being played, but hands down, 16 is where the action is, and no, drinking was not a part of the draw for us. Everyone around us (in the bleachers by the green) was respectful.

The golf course is great for being able to see different shots from one spot . They keep adding more spots for drinkers and then it seems like they are only going after the partiers and not people who care about the game of golf. I would recommend that you see it at least once but if you don't like fighting crowds then do not try to follow the big name golfers.

First time attending this event. TV does not do it justice. It was a blast, spent two of our three days camped out on the 16th hole. Bring lots of money for beer! Over 200k people on Saturday but around 60k on Sunday. Friday was busy as well but not bad. Great organization, easy free parking, good food and drink, plenty of available bathrooms. We'd recommend this tournament to anyone who likes both golf and partying. AZ weather was perfect!

Everything else went well and it is a fun event to attend. But, in the play-offs an overzealous volunteer closed the number 17 crossing while players were still on the number 10 green. He refused, with police back-up to open it. So we moved to try to get someplace else. Only to find that he did give in to the crowd chanting and opened it up. By the time we got back and to the front, he closed it right in front of us again. First bad decision was to close it early and not let the crowd through but then to re-open it didn't make sense. We missed the final hole. I think he might have been getting instructions from a field marshal who is the one who screwed it up.

I'm sure this event is fun for the college crowd and men who enjoy scantily clad women, which actually I enjoy, as well. However, there were just too many people at the event and far too many of them were drunken idiots. I took my wife, who is from Thailand, and she was shocked at the behavior of the crowd. It was like being at a frat party. I was embarrassed it was so bad. On top of the huge crowd and drunkenness, it was difficult to find any comfortable vantage points. We spent the entire time walking from hole to hole which was OK, but, never really saw much action. My main goal was to get out of there early enough not to have deal with the masses. After experiencing this debacle, I will stick to watching golf on the TV in the future. Let the idiots waste their time and money.

As a person who loves the game and attends tournaments for another chance to be out on the course & watch the pros, this one was way too crowded. Attended on the busiest day (Saturday) which didn't help matters. All the concession stands were over-crowded, lines at least 30 minutes long. Many rowdy drunk attendees, not sure how the pros kept their concentration. Most of the top names not there, I've heard in part because of the disrespect in the crowd. Waited 40 minutes in line just to get back onto bus back to parking lot. No signage in lots so hundreds of people walking around trying to find their car. All that being said, it's a big fun party for anyone looking to pick up a date. I am glad that the organizers are able to make lots of money. Just wish there was a way to separate the extreme party from the game so we could all enjoy the day.

This is a beautiful course and there lots of room to roam around. Also, if you're not following the leaders, it is possible to see some good golf but the overall vibe of the place is a "frat party". I would estimate a good 50% of the people are not there to see golf but to be at a large event. With over 200,000 people there, you end up squished together trying to watch a putt where some shirtless drunk guy is yelling obscenities at the players and girls are almost falling over in high heel platforms with a drink in each hand. So, if that all sounds good to you, I'd recommend the WM Open.

The Waste Management Phoenix Open is an experience every sports fan, not just golf fan, but every sports fan should experience. On this Thursday a record crowd of over 120,000 enjoyed a near perfect weather day in the Valley and witnessed some pretty darn good golf. From Phoenix's favorite son Phil Mickelson to other greats like Jordan Spieth, Bubba Watson just to name a few, the golf is wonderful and the atmosphere is absolutely outstanding and we are not even at the 16th hole yet. The 16th is an experience only felt by being there, it cannot be described in mere words. In short it is truly the Greatest Show in Golf and other golf tournaments should use this as a model for bring the game of professional golf into prominence in the sporting world.

We traveled from out of town to enjoy what sounded like a fun day outdoors - watching golf, throwing a few back, and sampling some Phoenix eats. What we found was an event that was so oversold - we had to walk for over an hour to even enter the event. We thought the line was maybe just backed up from security... WRONG! It was shoulder to shoulder people from where our Lyft dropped is off until we finally found a small square of grass to sit down. Extremely long lines for food, drink, and bathroom. Not nearly enough port-a-potties, no organization of food or beer lines, not enough people selling wrist bands for booze. I understand waiting in line at big events but this was on another level. Way too many people in the space and all I kept thinking was how would we get out of there alive if something scary happened. Bottom line- wouldn t waste my money again. Definitely need to cap ticket sales for Saturdays in the future.... it shouldn t just be about how much money they can make - the sponsors need to consider the fan experience as well!!

An awesome event but there were way too many drunken spectators. On the 10th fairway the drunks were annoying but you could ignore them because of the open area. On Sunday I sat on the 16th and that was a huge mistake. I sat from 9-3 watching play but numerous college age spectators stood drinking during that same time. They were foul mouthed and several jeered the players. This was the first time that I attended the open and I will return one more year. If I witness the same drunkenness again then I will never return. But, I will never sit at 16 again

This was our first trip to the WMPO and I can tell you it won't be our last. Despite the large crowds, the venue does an excellent job accommodating the masses. From the ease of entry to the large number and variety of concessions to restrooms to open first come bleacher seating. First time at a PGA event and loved it. Very fun watching during play and also watching various warmup/practice routines. Crowds were big but still had a great view of action, sometimes withing 3-4 feet of players. Will be back next year. Love the changes of course layout.

The Phoenix is by far the biggest party on grass! It is so much fun and very entertaining to people watch!

We had out-of-town guests and were able to sit at the 16th hole. They couldn't believe it and we all had a blast. Met a lot of really nice people. Everything runs so smoothly that you can tell the organizers have had a lot of experience. The only suggestion I would make would be to have police or volunteers directing traffic for the mid-afternoon crowd coming in and the crowd that is trying to get out. The crowd that was walking both ways came to a complete standstill and there was no one to help.

The worst live golf event I have ever attended and the worst libve fan experience I have ever had. The transportation system was horrible. Parking was very remote and wait times high. I spent more time waiting and especially walking very long distances just to get to the course than I spent watching golf. And the weekend was "drunken college kids" day. They flooded the course with drunks that didn't even watch the play. The drunks desecrated a beautiful golf course with empty beer cans. These are not golf fans. Way too many tickets were sold. Just walking 100 feet could take 20 minutes. What a Waste of time!

Although the golf was great and the weather wasn't the biggest issue is the Coors Light Eagles Nest. It is the advertisement for the tournament and you, as a fan, can't get in. We tried but the corporate boxes have all the tickets. We tried on line and nothing. Be aware that if you go for that experience you'll probably get shut out.

The event was excessively crowded and truly felt like a fraternity party, which is definitely not what I expect at a golf tournament. Way too many people wasted and being rude to both the players and other attendees to the event. It was our first time at this event and of course we wanted to access hole 16 but we had a long wait to wait in and after a while we realized that the last group was already on 17 so the wait was pointless. I can understand that you can't put that many people in one space and that the crowd needed to be managed, but communication from the staff was non-existent and when asked they were rude about how everyone has to wait. It was great to be able to see the players, but I don't think I'll submit myself to the crowds again

The event was wonderful!!! The only problem was the buses were 40 minutes late. We almost missed our favorite golfer.

Absolutely insane golf was an after thought watching people is what this event is about not golf. It was a lot of fun the major problem is there is not enough restrooms. If you have to use one avoid the drunk tent area near the 10th tee. Older true golf fans 1 thru 8 and 17 are for you 16 can be but you have to get there early or forget it actually avoid it, if you are a younger person looking for a good time 16 and outside 16 is party central.

It was raining the day we went to the WMPO but that didn't stop us from having fun, (we are from the Oregon Coast) so a little rain wasn't a problem for us, as long as you are prepared for it. The time we spent at the 16th hole was well worth the cost of a ticket

It was a rainy day which impacted our enjoyment but certainly is not the fault of the event. We were able to get in easily and enjoyed seeing the golfers. The only negative was in regards to parking. Signs were confusing and in some parts, non existent.

What a debacle. Parking signs were all pointing in the wrong directions. There is little or no staff directing the thousands of drunk college kids, so if you actually care to watch golf you don't know where you are or what hole. Fights breaking out everywhere, and no security. I took my 6 year old and will never go back. I'm all for the kids having a great time, but this venue needs to take a lesson in crowd control and helping spectators.

I would have liked to see Blue Moon offered with the Coors and Miller light from the vendors walking around. I have to believe I was not the only one there that prefers micro beers. It was pouring rain and the 16th Hole was super crowded. I was curious if there have been discussions about making that area larger. Finally, the area where Garcias was was really crowded. Overall I had a great experience but as far as crowd control that needs to be managed better.

If you're a real golf fan, this tourney might now be for you. But if you're a golf fan and like to party, then this is definitely your main event. Total chaos, very little governance, basically a free for all party in the middle of a huge golf course. If you want to watch golf, you can still find pockets to get up against the rope. Would recommend staying in one spot if you want to watch golf, but if you don't mind huge crowds and tons of drunk people, it's also fun to walk from hole to hole and witness all the shenanigans.

It was a huge waste of time and money. Too crowded, poorly managed crowd control. Took grandsons and spent all day protecting them from drunks and jostling!

Great event to go to and heckle golfers on 16th hold. get there early and prepare for a long day of what ever goes. Bleacher seats are the way to go at this event puts you right along the course for a chance to interact with players as they walk by.

This isn't like any other golf tournament I've attended. The atmosphere is energetic and the crowd is extremely involved. I think a lot of other tournaments should learn from the Phoenix Open. People are tired of the stuffy uptight nature of golf tournaments. That is good in some instances. This tournament is the opposite of everything you picture at a golf tournament. I loved the experience and I'll be back.

This event was fantastic if a bit soggy. It is so completely different from the golf events in the UK. You have to get around the 16th hole even if you have to queue for an hour.

spectators were smoking all around the event. Visibility is very limited on 16, 17 & 18 for general admission ticket holders. The airplanes advertising created a lot of noise that added nothing and must have annoyed both players and spectators.

I believe that there should be a limited amount of tickets sold for this event. Too many people in attendance to comfortably navigate the grounds. Not enough staff to answer questions or give directions. Got 3 different answers looking for the shuttle bus locations. Transportation to and from the free parking lots was slow and disorganized. You still need to walk over 1/2 of a mile to the course once you are dropped off. A better solution needs to be found. I had just finished 6 months of chemotherapy and was exhausted by the time I got to the course, only to find very few workers able to answer questions of help figure out how to navigate the crowds. The website for the tournament does not have any accomodations/ instructions listed for those of us with disabilities or illnesses to be able to attend and enjoy the event.

The only problems were lack of information when I parked in lot W. The employees did not know where we parked, I did not know anything more than lot W, That left me lost in the dark trying to find my car. There were not enough buses, I waited over an hour in the rain on Thursday night trying to get to my car.

Had a great day watching golf. Was raining and wet at times but that didn't dampen the fun. The reason I gave it 3 starts had nothing to do with the golf. One of the major food sellers, Zinburger, ran out of food for a half hour right about lunch time. The worst part of the day was the bus service. Took us an hour to get from the Westworld lot to the event, but even worse was the 2 hour wait just to get back to our car at the end of the day. Seemed like an awful long wait!

This is our second year attending the Phoenix Open and once again we were not disappointed. This is the most smoothly run event I've ever attended and considering how large the crowds get, they do a fantastic job. Hole #16 is just as crazy as advertised and is something everyone should try and experience!

I enjoyed my day very much. I meet a lot of very interesting people along the way. I found it easier to find a spot and make myself at home. I sat on the hill on #8 an got very close to both Phil and Tiger. Was disappointed that they did not make the cut. I gave my rating a 5 star, however upon leaving when security told me I could not take the Coke, that I spent good money on, outside the course. I could understand not being able to bring the drink in, but come on now what kind of security problem could be encountered by taking my drink home with me. I came from the far east valley and having the rest of my drink would have been handy. You need to rethink that security measure in the future.
