No surprises, Todd put on another great show. Mixed in a few new stories, a few new tunes and dug up some oldies. We brought three "newbies" to the show and I think we have converted all three.

My husband and I are probably not typical Todd Snider fans, although we have several CD's. Todd is so entertaining and kind of a cross between hiippy genious and derelict savant. Hard to describe him. He just seems to have a humble, little boy quality that is completely endearing, yet if you listen to the lyrics and occasional verbal rants, they are chock full of witty satire, political commnetary and downright awe. How does he come up with this stuff??? Loved him.

Todd Snider is one of the best songwriters of our time. He has a strong voice and the wisdom of a Native American medicine man. He's an amazing storyteller, did a handful of requests. Amazing entertainer. Nuff said.

After 15 years of buying his albums, I finally got a chance to see Todd Snider live. I was not disappointed. His songs are short stories told with great musical hooks and plenty of humor. His banter with the audience between songs was also very entertaining.

The opening act, Ashleigh Flynn I believe, was worth the price of admission alone. And then Todd Snider comes out, barefoot and full of stories to tell. The dude just did what he does and what he does is some of the best songwritting I've ever heard. If you haven't checked this guy out before then do yourself a favor and pick up a CD or go see him live (live is always better). Great venue, great show, great vibe. I left with a huge smile and a little less weight on my shoulders. Thank You.

Todd Snider and Great American Taxi totally rocked. Lots of new stuff, some of the best of the old, 2 encores, the last a medley of "Fortunate Son" and "Sympathy for the Devil" played to the tune of "Heartbreaker" (Stones). I will not pass up any opportunity to see Todd Snider again.

Show was great. The great american taxi band was awesome. Expected him to do a bit more storytelling. A little dissapointed to not hear "Luchenbach" / "Ms. Virgie song since that is one of our all time favorites but all in all very good show. Did not let us down.

Todd was awesome as usual. We arrived late and did not see the opening band. They did stand in with Todd for most of his set and were very good. The Park West is still one of my favorite places in Chicago to see live music.

Todd and Co. put on a really nice show at the sold out Shank Hall. Too bad is was SRO only and we had to leave before the end because our friends got tired standing for several hours. Anyway, we didn't miss much and everyone had a fun time. This was my first Snider show and will definately not be the last. He played a great deal of his newer material and some of his fun stuff like Beer Run.

Loved Robert Keen and Bruce Robinson. Made great connection with their rather rowdy audience. Music great and running commentary both insightful and hilarious. Todd Snider stole the show IMO and I would love to see him again. Kind of a country/folk cross and the audience just loved him. The second half of the show they were all on stage and took turns doing their songs with the other artists playing backup. Keen during this part of the show played mandolin for both Robinson and Snider. Awesome!

What is not to love about Todd Snider? His clever approach to life keeps me thinking and contrary to what he says at the opening of his shows (I only say this because it rhymes) I think his refreshing view of our crazy world is such a nice break for those of us who tend to take life too seriously. Love love love him!

I have heard that Snider can be different depending on the environment that he plays in, if so Ann Arbor is the ultimate place to see him. He loves a crowd that appreciates him and if so the crowd at the Ark loved him and he loved them back. He told stories and related his unique take on life to make a fabulous show. Two Encores. Let the crowd pick his play list. Even did covers.

Todd Snider continues to poke the soft white underbelly of our collective complacency with the very sharp stick of his rapier wit. Caustic without being callous, angry without being strident, humorous without being sophmoric,Snider comes off as The Last Pissed-Off Troubador. His vast and varied catalog of work encompasses all the vagaries and vicissitudes that make up the American experience. His Ann Arbor show was a tour de force of harnessed energy, aimed squarely at his adoring audience. They sang, clapped, laughed, hollered out requests and generally acted as Greek chorus for Snider's tales of losers, miscreants and dead-enders,with much of his ire aimed directly at himself. His self-deprecating humor is surely the most endearing of his many fine song writing qualities and the beautiful, intimate setting of The Ark only added to his connection with his audience. Please go and see this man the first chance you get. You wil not be disappointed.

I am an old fan of Todd's since his first album and tour with Jimmy Biuffett, so i was excited to see him again. I did no prior research on this show, so i had no idea it was a part of a book tour. Still, the show was a good mix of his humorous stories and his music, with a short film sandwiched in-between. It was certainly not something the non-fan (i.e., my girlfriend) would find overly enjoyable; however, he won even her over with some of his humorous anecdotes and observations. I think her biggest issue was the language and drug references. Although his work may not appeal to everyone, Todd is truly a voice of his time.

Our first time seeing and hearing Todd Snider. He began with a reading from his book, which actually served as a good introduction, as it is autobiographical--funny, and illuminating. Then a 20-minute "documentary" film was shown, featuring Todd and Elizabeth Cook, with not much dialogue--interesting, but went on a bit long, as we were ready to hear some music. Then, Todd performed, and took requests shouted from the audience. He sang and played very well, and established very good rapport with the audience, who seemed to really enjoy.

Todd Snider is so fantastic. An amazing storyteller and a wonderful song writer. His lyrics are so well done-- unexpected and interesting. I wish he came around more often. The only downside was that the show ran really late. He was supposed to come on at 9 and didn't come on until 10. We had to leave after the first set, which was a bummer.

As far as I'm concerned, anybody who can sum up everything that's wrong with this world with a song entitled, "Conservative, Christian, Right-wing Republican, Straight, White , American Males" is ok in my book. But, then, when it comes to Todd Snider, you not only get that, you also get more...a lot more! Songs like Greencastle Blues, Tension, Stuck on the Corner, and Sunshine ( and many, many more!). So listen up all good people of this or any world: Get yo' bad self to the nearest Todd Snider concert you can find!! However, do keep in mind, if the other people at the show smell a little funny, just smile, sniff the other way, and let it go. Amen, brothers and sisters.

I'm a huge Todd Snider fan and have seen him many times including multiple times at the Birchmere. I agree with most of the reviews for this show though, the flex stage is not as good at seeing him in the dining hall and he was just off this night. I enjoyed the opening acts, but was disappointed that TS only played for about 40 minutes. Lots of slurring and forgetting words and whole verses. He did not look good. I'm also not a huge fan of completely switching up the music and pace to some of my favorite songs. Normally the best part of of a TS show is the stories and he didn't really tell any in his short set. My advice would be DEFINITELY see Todd Snider, but check him out when he's only got one or two openers and he's playing acoustic.

My wife and I go to the Birchmere a lot but we'd never been to a Flex Stage performance. Neither of us are big fans of standing or trying to crowd up to the stage so that may color my review. There were three acts before Todd Snider, and I would have been just as happy to have skipped them. Also, the time between sets was rather long as they rearranged the stage so that the first act went on at 7:30pm but Todd Snider didn't go on until 10:15 and then played until 11:30. I liked seeing him with a band and playing electric guitar but if I knew then what I know now, I'd have gone at 10pm and skipped the earlier acts.

I've known a couple people who would go see Todd Snider every time he was in a 100-mile radius of where they live. One of them gave me his Storyteller CD, which made me laugh hard. But until I experienced a Todd Snider concert, I didn't totally understand the extent of the enthusiasm. His laid back charm and direct engagement with his audience, his guitar plucking intensity, and his masterful way around a story make him truly one of a kind. A Todd Snider concert is not just fun; it is a love fest that goes both ways -- with a barely cynical edge and a wink, of course. Elizabeth Cook was a great opener. She is funny, smart, sassy, and has a voice that raises every song. A great night.

Don't get me wrong. I've been a long time fan of Todd Snider for years. The good, well Todd came out strumming. The bad, it seemed he didn't want to be there. And to his defense, the crowd seemed a little thin. I was curious about the advertisment for this event. I actually bought tickets online after looking up Todds touring schedule. Never heard a thing anywhere else? The highlight to me, was the up and coming band, "The Wild Feathers". These guys have it going on. Got a harmonizing sound that reminds an old guy like me of the Eagles. If these kids don't screw this up, they will go along way. I'm looking forward to hearing and seeing more of them. As for Todd, well I hope that it was just the fact that there was not much crowd. However, I was expecting a little more from him.

Very intimate venue which I was amazed didn't sell out, though the fans there were hardcore fans. Todd seemed to lose his groove pretty early on when some fans in the front insisted on clapping to the beat. At that point forward, he didn't tell any more of his signature, funny, personal stories. He didn't play anything from Peace Queer, but played a great range from across the decades. Totally rocked a version of Free Bird (a request from smart alecky audience members).

I have been a fan of Todd Snider since I heard Songs for the Daily Planet many years ago. As is the custom at his concerts, the man spends as much time just riffing on stories as in singing. I loved the story of how he ran into the songwriter who wrote Garth Brooks "If Tomorrow Never Comes" (Kent Blazy), who explained to him the difference between borrowing an idea for a song and stealing it, and then he segued into his own unique song with the same title but a completely different meaning. I also liked the admission that all his melodies are basically "Johnny B. Goode", and he demonstrated that concept by segueing into Chuck Berry's song from his own and back again. This was Todd's 50th birthday bash and the audience was primarily longtime fans who knew every word to every song, and Todd not only didn't mind that they sang along but encouraged us to do so. It was an unforgettable show by the master at the peak of his art.

He walked off stage after a very strange first half where he seemed to forget what he was doing, I took a friend very embarrassing for me, pretty pricey $73 for 2 tics, looking into a refund, Todd said on his way out we could all get out money back I feel we deserve it.

There was just something off about the show. The venue was very strange. You could hear everything except the music. and Todd walked off the stage in the middle of the show. Im not sure what is going on with him. he wasnt his normal self. The crowd was very rude as well. Made me very sad

I wouldn't spend your money on Todd Snider tickets expecting to get an enjoyable evening of his music. He was unable to remember what verses he had just sung, stopped often before a song was finished, and mused that his hands were "yellow"... guess he's never been under stage lights? After intermission, he sang a couple verses of Beer Run, started several songs and stopped, "I'm not feeling it" and then tossed his guitar on the stage, stood up and walked off saying we could all get our money back. I would love to get my money back. Would be a nice trick if we could get a wasted evening back also.

I purchased these tickets because my lady friend wanted to see this show, and enjoy it she did. I was only familiar with his "Alright Kinda Guy" song, so I was surprised that his entire catalog of songs were satire/comedy. His was very entertaining and funny, but the show was a bit long for my taste. Being a guitar player myself, I found it rather odd that he played a nylon string guitar all night, especially considering his playing style was heavily influenced by country blues. Perhaps he wants to take the attention away from the guitar. But then I like my country blues played on a steel string guitar. A nice OM or OO would do the trick. Anyway, my lady friend really enjoyed the show, so mission accomplished. One more thing. I don't think playing a few serious country blues tunes would hurt his show along with a steel string guitar.

Todd Snider more than delivered. Great song lineup, awesome stories, and the shoes came off. He said he was going to play two sets. I didn't believe him. He did though. Thanks Todd. Sorry I doubted you. I was also very impressed with the seating. They told me "there isn't a bad seat in the house". I believe them now. We were seated all the way to the back left on the main floor and we felt very much "in touch" with Todd. Only disappointment was all the noise in the entry during the warm up act. Thanks for the memories!!!

I have been going to see live music for 42 years, and this is by far the best concert I have ever been to. Todd is a master storyteller, a deeply thoughtful songwriter and a spectacular musician. His sense of humor really made the evening a delight. Todd Snider is at the top of my list of artists I will never miss.

Great singer/songwriter. Great wit. Took requests from audience for at least half the show. If you haven't seen him or heard of him, do yourself a favor and check him out.

Even if you have never heard of Todd Snider, if you were to see him live just one time you would instantly be a fan. He connects with the audience, he's witty and every word of every song is honest. You don't get that with just anybody. Now mix in Patterson Hood, who is one of the most skilled songwriters alive today and you have one heck of a show. I will warn you that Hood likes his Patron, whiskey and beer. I kind of prefer my musicians a little inebriated though because it makes it more real.

I have been to a lot of shows, but this was my favorite live performance. Todd Snider is funny and just tells it like it is. The setting was perfect for a singer-songwriter like him because the acoustics were great and he was not just a little blip in the distance. I was on the balcony, and it felt like they were right in front of me. I did not know much about Patterson Hood before this, but I am a fan now. Thanks!

This was a great show by two fantastic musicians and friends. Songs about me and everyone I know were performed by true masters. Thanks!

The concert was my first in the Mother Church and was beyond my expectation. Todd really was enjoying himself and the audience was feeding off of that too. JT Earle was great too and this was the first time I had heard him and it was enjoyable.
