I saw DEVO at Club Nokia in Los Angeles, CA earlier this year. I used you, Ticketmaster, to purchase the following package: Price Level 1 VIP EXPERIENCE, 21 & OVER FOR VIP LOUNGE HOUSE RIGHT SEATING. Breakdown of charges: Tickets/Items $111.55; Order Process Fee $5.65; TicketFast Delivery $2.50. The total paid by me to you was $119.70. THAT SHOW WAS WORTH EVERY SINGLE PENNY AND MORE. ONE OF THE GREATEST THRILLS OF MY LIFE. Now, regarding the DEVO show at The Grove on Aug 5, 2011, I purchased the following package you offered: J-TYPE FULL PRICE VIP W/MEET AND GREET. The total amount I paid = $122.85. DEVO was awesome but the "MEET AND GREET" was disingenuous. I had to wait in line for 1 hour then stood at a table and was told to hand over my camera for a photo with the band. It's a lovely photo of just me with not one of the band members posing or visible, I had 30 seconds and was rushed through like just another steer through the chute to the slaughter-house. When the band finished autographs/photo-ops, everyone was again being herded right out the lounge door. Even when Gerry Casale, co-founder of DEVO, snuck in the lounge to see his fans, we were all told to leave now. Gerry was kind enough to pose with me for a photo. While we were being photographed, a large security guard put his hand on my back and said "time to go". When Gerry told the guard "Hey, these are my friends" the guard ignored him and proceeded to nudge me (albeit gently) to the door. I'm disabled and receive $1000/mo and have 2 sons to support. $122.85 is a lot of food I went without. Not going back to The Grove but I'd gladly pay $100+ to actually "MEET and GREET" DEVO. I'd do it 100 more times.

What a fun show - they played lots of early stuff and almost all the popular stuff. The crowd was into it and dancing and having fun (and no mosh pit like at the Warfield six months ago - at least the employees kept people from rushing the stage here). The Mountian Winery may not have been the best venue for them - I come here all the time, and this was one of the first times it was clearly not full, but there were enough of us to make them feel welcome. We had a blast - I love Mark Mothersbaugh.

They rocked so hard it could have been 1985 (except I am now old enough to legally drink - and then some). There were energy domes, multiple costume changes, DEVO cupcakes tossed in the audience, and Booji Boy. Best show I have been to in quite some time.
The Music Box at the Fonda - Hollywood, CA - Tue, Nov 3, 2009
First of all, the venue was very small, which is good. I was sitting in the balcony and it was a perfect view and still very close. It was first come, first serve balconly seating which I loved and there was a bar right close by. Devo was amazing. They might be older, but they still have the same energy and sound like they did years ago.

Having seen DEVO many times over the last 26 years an in various tours, them playing my #1 All-Time album in sequence was a show I've been waiting for impatiently for several weeks now. I was lucky enough to be very close to the front on the right hand side right in front of the keyboard. Those guys were hi energy(domeless) from the get go and never stopped. I actually saw mark knelling down between songs trying to catch his breathbefore Gut Feeling. Mark made 2 appearances out in the crowd and I was happy to do the wierd screams/howls with him during Jock Homo, and help rip off some of his radiation suit during his first foray into the crowd. They just ROCKED and kept the commentary to a minimum, which was unusual for Jerry. For an encore they played my favorite song Smart Patrol/Mr. DNA and closed out the hour long show (yes only an hour, but action packed) with Gates of Steel, a teaser for tonights Freedom of Choice show.

Wonderful show. The only complaint I have is the show was so short. The opening act was pretty crappy, but it's hard to find a band to open for DEVO. Josh Freese rocked the drums as usual. The two sets of brothers sang and played guitar perfectly. It was a great night.

This was the first night of two back to back DEVO shows playing their most loved albums, Q: Are We Not Men? and Freedom of Choice. The Music Box at the Fonda is always a great venue, easy security, GREAT soundsystem, good vantage points. Opening act was a british guy with a sampler/looper who would beatbox and loop his rhythm tracks and sing over it. Quite novel, though just a guy alone with a looper is not enough to maintain the crowd's full love. Devo started their show with playing their short films of Secret Agent Man and Jocko Homo, which felt rather long to the Devo-loving crowd who've seen it plenty of times, but it was appropriate seeing them perform their first album in its entirety. The band came out and played fantastically. They sounded great, well rehearsed, Bob 2 looked like he dropped weight, they were full of energy and movement about the stage, the large LED lights behind the band were quite exciting at times too without being blinding. Josh Freese is a machine. The show was rather expensive and short. The band was done in under an hour. They played the two videos, the first album, and a two song encore. Short for $50 tickets. T-shirts sold out VERY fast, we were in line to get in before doors opened, and many shirts were sold out by the time we hit the merch table. The very cool looking windbreaker felt like $1 of material, $5 of screenprinting for the $45 price. And the CD's for sale were cut-out promo copies usually given away for free. For the price and the shortness of show, I'd recommend this to only hardcore fans. Their usual setlists seem comprised of two albums anyways, so it's not too special hearing the few remaining obscure tracks they weren't already playing live. We would have loved to hear the brand new songs they played earlier in the year as encore songs, but it was not to be. Why did they play Gates of Steel when it's part of the setlist for the next night?

Last night was great! this is my third Devo show my first was when i was 14, it was really cool being able to hear the songs you never hear live that's the plus when they sing a whole album. The crowd was so so but that's how it is at any concert you go to, someone let a bum in or something he was creepy,Mark almost got pretty close to me in the crowd before he turned and went back (buts that's ok I met all of them when i went to my first show =] ) and i almost got a piece of their clothes and a guitar pic, but other then all of that I had a blast! I love being able to see them and they sound so great just like listening to the album. I hope they play very soon again in L.A.

Devo still has it!! They rocked their entire first album with the same intensity, energy and voice strength as it was 30 years ago. Some songs had not been played live in more than 20 years...Shrivel Up, Praying Hands, Sloppy, Space Junk, etc... I highly recommend the VIP ticketsas I got a free signed poster and most importantly, got to meet all the band mambers after the show. The set is a solid hour with encore performances of Gates of Steel and Smart Patrol/Mr. DNA.

I feel like this should be a no brainer. I mean DEVO performing one of there best albums in its entirety. They still bring the storm too. Mark Mothersbaugh ran into the crowd so viciously. Grabbing kids shoving the mic in their faces to answer the question Are We Not Men? Truly punk rock! And every song better than the last. That album is more or less perfect. And thats how it was played! I'll remember this one for a long time.

I was 11 years old when I got my first record. Q: Are We Not Men? We Are DEVO was that record and it helped set me on the path to true music enlightenment. Even at that young age, I knew that was a special album. It turns out that it was probably one of the most influential albums ever. It is truly a quintessential recording that has withstood the test of time. I still listen to it on a regular basis. To see it performed live, in its entirety was monumental for me. Now at 42 years of age, I found myself completely caught up in the mayhem, front and center of the Music Box floor Tuesday evening. I was able to forget all about my job and how much I despise my boss. I was able to forget about the fact that I had to get up for work in a couple hours. I didn t think about money, the economy, my car trouble, etc. I, and other likeminded spuds, pogo d and spazzed out while singing along to my all-time favorite album being performed live. I forgot that I was getting old for the night. My body sure set me straight the next morning. The set started with the film that started it all. In The Beginning Was The End: The Truth About De-Evolution . This short film created by Mark and Jerry in 1974 while at Kent State contains classic, surreal versions of Secret Agent Man and Jocko Homo with intro by Booji Boy and General Boy. The band appeared shortly after sporting the traditional yellow suits. The craziness began as soon as the first chord of Uncontrollable Urge was played. I don t know about the rest of the people in attendance that night, but everyone down in front was having a great time. With the exception of a drum cymbal mishap (I believe during Jocko Homo) which caused things to get out of sync for a bit, each song was flawless. I ve seen DEVO many times. Most of this album gets performed routinely. However, it was great to hear some of the songs like Sloppy and Shrivel-Up that rarely get played live. While completely satisfied with hearing the whole album live, I was thrilled to see them come out for an encore which started out with my personal favorite, Smart Patrol/Mr. DNA . They finished up a very memorable night with Gates of Steel . Clocking in at one hour, the concert was relatively short, which is what I expected. They billed it as performing the first album in its entirety. That album is only about 45 minutes. The encore tracks were a bonus. I m sure a few in the crowd were a bit disappointed at the shortness of the set but I loved every minute. I can t wait for tonight. Freedom of Choice in its entirety! The only thing I could ever want is a 5 night stint with each night playing one album\u2026night one - Q: Are We Not Men?, night two - Duty Now For The Future, night three - Freedom of Choice, night four New Traditionalists, night five Oh, No! It s DEVO. Encores from Total DEVO and Shout would be in order. C mon boys \u2026 can you take it? Duty Now!

I first saw Devo live in 1982 on their New Traditionalist tour. To this day this show remains at the top of my favorite concert list. Their show on November 3, 2009 at the Music Box at the Fonda was just as amazing. These men rocked harder than some bands half their age! They rocketed from one song to the next filled with the spirit and energy of a band that apparently wanted to do nothing but completely satisfy and exhaust it's audience. There were a few minor technical issues, but this being the first night of the tour, some glitches are expected. These things also helped to illustrate that "what you see is what you get"-- nothing is pre-taped or looping on a digital sampler somewhere offstage. A 100% pure rock show-- something that is very rare in this day and age. Kudos to you, spuds!

I have long wanted to see this band, which I discovered in the 70s when they performed on Saturday Night Live - a transforming moment for this young teenage girl in a small southern town. So it was a long wait, but well worth it. The sold-out show was dedicated to performing "Are We Not Men" in its entirety. My fears that these 50-something guys might have lost enthusiasm for their old material or lacked their previous youthful energy were quickly put to rest when they took the stage and started powering through "Uncontrollable Urge". While I would have liked the band to do more of the robotic, quirky moves that were their trademark, their energy was high and all of them were clearly having a great time. Mark Mothersbaugh's voice is still youthful and strong, and twice during their set, he went offstage and reappeared, singing, among the dancing audience. Drummer Josh Freese (who has played with many bands, including Nine Inch Nails and Weezer), is wonderful to watch. Devo encored with "Smart Patrol" and "Gates of Steel". I was sorry that they didn't have more time to do other material - and even more sorry that I didn't also get tickets for the second night's performance of "Freedom of Choice" in its entirety. Devo fans will not be disappointed with this tour!

What can be said, these guys who are in their late 50's and 60's are more active on stage then most bands who are filled with 18 year olds. They played the entire album Q: Are we not men? A: We are Devo from cover to cover live. Mark Mothersbough interacted with the crowd in several occasions directly, even dawning a cowboy hat from the crowd during the performance of Come Back Jonee. The band delivered a solid performance though the venue had a few issues. The video feed to the projector for the band's opening movie which is their original film "The Truth about Devolution" was messed up it appeared by the venue who spent 20 minutes trying to figure out the video feed. Over all the show was awesome from the introduction act of JP Incorporated comedy to the legends themselves Devo.

Akron's favorite sons rocked a full house at The Regency Ballroom on Friday, November 9, 2009. The band performed its ground breaking first album in its entirety at this special show. DEVO fired up the crowd from the start with a super charged version of "Uncontrollable Urge" and never let up. The crowd was enrapt as rarely performed songs like: "Too Much Paranoias", "Praying Hands", and "Space Junk" filled the air. I have seen DEVO perform a dozen times over 30 years and I have never seen them perform with more vigor. Their yellow radiation suit may fit a little tighter in the mid-section and there may be some gray hair beneath their red energy dome hats, but the spirit of de-evolution can never be silenced. Duty Now, DEVO. Duty Now!

Devo has always been a fantastic live band and last night was no exception. The music was tight, the sound was good and the band enthusiastic. They played the entire Freedom of Choice album from start to finish and it was great to hear the deep cuts performed live. The only thing that keeps me from giving a 5 star rating is the unbelievably short performance time. We clocked the show at slightly over one hour. Frankly, that is not enough music for the money. But as a loyal spud for 30+ years, I'll cut them some slack on this one.

I first saw DEVO live in about 1978 or '79 at the Santa Monica Civic. I was hooked. Saw them again about 1980, New Years Eve at the Long Beach Arena, about 81 in Riverside, 91 at the Coach House, 2005 in Agura Hills, then Nov. 3 2009 in Hollywood. I ve seen many, many live bands over the years and DEVO is by far the most fun of all. I took my wife and 2 teenage sons to this one and they loved it too. (De-evolution is real!) The show was great as usual but I would like to advise the sound man (and DEVO) they could turn down the volume a little to allow more clarity. I am very familiar with all DEVO songs but needed to use my memory and imagination at times to pick out the Bob 1 great guitar work and mentally defragment and equalize in my brain what is normally very crisp music. The other 5 times I saw DEVO this was not an issue. My feeling and hope are\u2026this was the first show of their tour and the sound guy(s) and DEVO will fine-tune this and the shows will be super duper perfect as usual. I met and spoke with Bob 1 and Mark after the show at the meet and greet. Thank you both for being so polite and nice to me and my family. And most importantly thanks for keeping it going and helping me keep my old age gene turned off. DEVO is Number 1.

GREAT show. The "Q: Are We Not Men?" album in its entirety plus 2 encore songs. I had VIP tickets with the band meet & greet after. The meet & greet wasn't well organized but I managed to find everyone but Josh (the drummer). I was extremely disappointed that only 3 of us were dancing in the balcony (VIP section) - guess we were the only hardcore fans in the crowd. Venue comments: Bar on every floor. Normal "club" drink prices ($7 for beer). $20 parking next door to the venue; $10 across the street. First floor is standing; balcony is seated. No elevator (I was on crutches).

Having been a fan of Devo for the last 30 years, these pioneers of "New Wave" music certainly delivered a gut punching performance. I was amazed at how much energy these guys have. In speaking with Jerry Casale after the show, I asked him how they can keep up that pace night after night. He stated "It's not easy. I just put myself in the mindset of when I wrote the music and recapture what I was feeling back then" Don't miss your chance to see the band while on their back-to-back album tour this fall. I'm looking forward to tonight's Freedom Of Choice set and hanging with the band after the show. Purchase the Meet & Greet tickets and get to know the spuds and a couple nice souveniers too! Larry

Concert was supposed to start at 7pm, so I arrived at 6:45 only to stand in line for 45 minutes. Doors didn't open to start admitting people until shortly past 7. DEVO didn't come out to start performing until I had been seated and slowly nursed down two cocktails. And to top it off, DEVO didn't even include "Whip It" in their set list. That was one of the songs I knew they'd include so us old guys who grew up with their music could go nuts. The concert was mostly a tribute to Bob Casale who's son came out to play with the band near the end. It seemed like they only played for maybe an hour. I was disappointed in the length and only felt the old DEVO-tee energy I remember from my younger days on only a handful of songs.

It was Saturday Night at the Fox Theater in Oakland and DEVO was set to perform the songs that did not make them famous. This was Hardcore DEVO, RAW and Creative. 4 figures appear in the basement and it is 1974 kids can smoke and Gerald Ford was taking over for Nixon and everything was good in the world. Mark Mothersbaugh with his now working smokers Emphysema Voicebox working kicks things off with Mechanical Man. Humor ran through the entire set of around 23 songs and for the casual fan it wasn't until around the middle of the set that things got recognizable with DEVO's classic cover of (I can't get no) Satisfaction by the Rolling Stones. Then nearing the end of the set things the crowd seemed to pick up as we neared 1977 and the first DEVO album and songs started popping up that end up on the debut album. Songs like Uncontrollable Urge, Gut Feeling and Jocko Homo. I live Hardcore so this was a must see concert for me, my friend who went with me still enjoyed the concert even though they only played one or two songs that he knew. The set was ended with Booji Boy's Funeral and Booji coming out with a walker and performing U Got Me Bugged, then the band coming out and bringing Bob2's son out to play bass on Clock Out a song that Bob2 always played bass on and now that he himself had clocked out it seemed appropriate that his son stepped up to fill his shoes and energy dome. If you Love DEVO as much as I do and you missed this show...kick yourself you missed out.

the Spuds rocked the house! The band turned what I imagine could have been an esoteric rendering of throwaway numbers from a dank basement in addled minds, into a rocking show that presented to us the youthful energy this band always seems to bring to its shows. We were treated to songs that snapped our necks back when first we heard them so many years ago. Small talk but not small ideas rearranged our faces, melting onto the floor at a spectacular venue!

For Hardcore DEVO, it was something I thought I would never see. Truly at their best. A couple of songs did not need to be played (I would have rather seen something like The Rope Song or 37 rather than Satisfaction or Mongoloid) but were technically of the era. I can die happy if I don't see another DEVO show because this was them at their best. RIP Alan and Bob II

My hat goes off to these guys for still cranking out this weirdness after all these years. Their spirits and interest/ability to perform is still great. The fact that they pushed on without Bob C is also a plus, and that they pulled it off. The song selection was good, although they left out a few key songs... but that's always the case at a show. The main complaint I have was the sound was way too loud. Not "too loud" because I'm too old and can't handle it (I had ear plugs), but distorted and poorly mixed. The Wiltern is a classic venue, but the sound in the room isn't ideal either. But the level needed to be much lower to get the right, un-strained mix. This early music uses space or silence as a voice - extremely minimalistic by design. This stripped down music needs to breath, but unfortunately when everything is cranked up so much, the audience, natural reverb and echo of the room fill in all the blanks. It was hard to get a clean, articulate, album sounding vocal on any song as well (same reasons), so the fun and subtle hook of the songs was just lost. It was just a wall of noise. The stage performances and the fact that I saw these really old songs live still made it worth going, but I'll leave you with this thought. At 43, I still go to a show about once a month, and 9 out of 10 I'm going with a friend or 2. I went to this show alone by design, not wanting to worry about my companion that I dragged out (if they are enjoying the show or not). Very glad of this.

For me and my girlfriend DEVO was disappointing . We expected a show with a lot of energy and found ourselves bored for most of their set . I think it was a combo of the choice of songs and the band itself ... Zero energy . I take that back . There was brief moments when it was a concert ... brief moments !!! The Wiltern was not the issue .

They did NOT play The Girl You Want, Freedom of Choice, Working in a Coal Mine nor Whip It. They did not wear their domes. But they did wear their construction outfits for We Are Devo. Maybe a better concert for those that know all of their songs. I still enjoyed the 90 min concert. But left unfulfilled.

As a loong time DEVO fan, I've always thought it would be great to see them perform songs from the "early days". At long last, that time has come. I was not disappointed!! We traveled back in time to 1974 and then moved forward song by song. As always, the band sounds awesome live. They still have plenty of energy and seemed as happy to be playing as I was to be listening. At the end of the show, the crowd hung on, savoring the moment and hoping for more. The set list was full of HardCore songs, but there were a few classics in there as well. If you've never heard the hardcore songs, they are rougher, raunchier, and as twisted as anything DEVO produced in later years. Don't miss a chance to see this live. It is most likely the only chance you will get. I love DEVO, and this, if it does end up being their final tour, was something truly special.

Third time in last few years and each show was different and GREAT! This one had historical references to their early days and they played music that we didn't get to hear at either of the previous shows that were some of our favs, although not their biggest hits. Great show and love the Fox Theatre in Oakland.

When I heard that Bob 2 (Casale) had passed, I figured I had probably seen the last of the Spudboys. I was wrong. As a tribute to their fallen comrade, the surviving members of DEVO took to the road to perform a list of songs that even this seasoned veteran hasn't heard save for the archived recordings and scratchy demos. Looking more fit than their last swing through Oakland, the band started their set sitting down, inviting the crowd into their Way-Back Machine, back to the year 1974, when the boys from Akron first got together to explore the truth about De-Evolution. After a few tunes from their stools, the guys got on their feet and started to show us all they can still rock the house in the new century. There was no "Whip It" or "Beautiful World." Instead there was "Soo Bawlz" and "Auto Mowdown." By the end of the evening, there were some new converts, and when Mark asked us "Are We Not Men?" We all knew the answer: We are ALL DEVO.

I knew what to expect - hard core devo - played all the demos and songs for the stiff records' Devo Be Stiff. However, there were some in the audience who did not get the message and expected to hear some of Devo's 80 hits such as Whip It. Boy were they pissed off. I really wanted to hear Baby Talkin Britches and Mongolod which they played at other venues earlier in the tour; however did not play in Oakland. Very good lighting show in the 2nd set; however it did not help in making the show a memborable one. I would give it 2 stars. T-shirts were $30, way too much for my budget.

Devo brought their patented showmanship. Alternately intense, weird, humorous and rocking. The sound was kind of a let down. Saem as the Kraftwerk show I just really could not hear much low mid. Certain instruments just seem to disapear from the mix. Not sure if it is poor mixing or a poorly set up line array. The subs are obviously working, but many times the sound is just thin. I'd also like to point out that the event staff were not doing a very good job of controlling some audience members. A very drunk couple in front of me 'decided' to sit in seats that were not theirs. While that did not affect me directly. The constant moving back and forth of audience members in that row of seats to accomodate these two drunk idiots was very annoying. Especially since that could have all been avoided if the usher had simply pressed home the seat # ticket # correlation.

I love DEVO, and I listened to them a lot back in the late 1970's and early 1980's. I had heard that their live shows are great. This one was not. Perhaps it was an off night for them. They started with several newer tunes. Then they moved into the classic material. They did well with their older material, and just as the show was starting to gear-up, it was over. They played for around one hour. Overall, it seemed a bit tepid and too short. Oh well...

This was an awesome show. This was my sixth time seeing Devo in concert and they are always on fire. I was not warming up to the new album "Somthing for Everbody" when I saw it live though it helped me understand how much DEVO still rocks and how relavent their message is. My hope is that they continue on and release more albums. DEVO has to be the most underappreciated band in human history. They have put out so many fantastic albums and the only song that people know is Whip it. My dream is to have DEVO play at my 50th B-Day! The only dowside was the venue. We were to the side of the stage and coluld not see the awesome graphic screen that DEVO had at the back of the stage. Try to get a seat in the middle if your venue has a deep stage.

The venue was an interesting one. It was a small space, which was great, however it seemed more suited to a corporate conference or a motivational speaker rather than a concert. The chairs were probably the most comfortable concert seats I've ever had, but the experience would have been greatly enhanced if there was stadium seats rather than flat seats, as the view was easily obstructed by tall folks sitting, standing, and dancing in front of us. The show kicked off with The English Beat, who were fantastic. They played the hits including "I Confess," "Tears of a Clown," "Save it for Later," and "Mirror in the Bathroom," as well as "Tenderness" by lead singer Dave Wakeling's other band, General Public. The crowd was enthusiastic and the whole floor was shaking in rhythm with the band. They were fantastic and I'd definitely see them again. Next on stage was Tom Tom Club. They opened with what sounded like a remix version of their big hit "Genius of Love" that was vaguely familiar, but the lyrics were different. Tina Weymouth then proceeded to give long rambling explanations of each song they played as though they were on VH1 Storytellers and the songs proved equally slow and dull. Eventually they did play "Genius of Love" followed by some fun upbeat numbers. They closed their set with a two songs from their "first band" the Talking Heads, playing "Take Me to the River" and "Psycho Killer" and the crowd was happy to hear more familiar (and brilliant) songs. DEVO closed out the night, and were fantastic. I've seen them once before and have yet to be let down. Once again the floor was shaking to the offbeat rhythm of the band. They too played their hits including "Whip It," "Girl U Want," "Freedom of Choice," as well as a few songs off their new album that blended seamlessly into the rest of the set. Their set included multiple costume changes including their trademark yellow paper suits and "flower pot" hats, this time in blue. My only reason for giving this show 4 stars instead of 5 is Tom Tom Club. I respect that they're still out there touring and doing what they love, but I felt that they weren't a great fit for the show, and really brought the energy down after The English Beat got the room going. Even if they hadn't been replaced by another band, I think the show would have been greatly improved had their set been before English Beat, as the energy of the show wouldn't have lulled in the middle.

DEVO is now less the Pioneers Who Got Scalped and more The Grandfathers who BRING IT. As the second tour in two years in support of the same album, DEVO does what they have done for years... they span their career rather than focusing on one release. There is still nothing in the set from "Shout," "Total DEVO" and "Smooth Noodle Maps," but these remain the weakest of all their records. Still, I could do with "Wake Up Puppet Boy" or "Happy Guy" being revived. No, they are not capable of the physicality they brought to their classic agitprop performances of 1978, but what they can do, they do better than anyone else.

The venue was petite, in a strip mall next to a warehouse with a church, so we knew a devolved night was in store. Hot dogs were on sale inside the Northern Lights near a pair of long bars extending into the area which faced the stage. The intimate setting was perfect for hardcore fans, newbies and press (bloggers?) to feel the pulse of DEVO's tight performance radiate within, even while standing still. Few failed to move with the music sets which pleased me more. Jeff Friedl, sitting in for Josh Freese who was on tour with Weezer, was spectacular on the drums. Hope to see him again in the future. New songs from their first studio release in 20 years were few and far between but that was to be expected given their significant catalog of audience favorites. Would I have traded "Going Under" for "Human Rocket" that night? Probably. I really do want to see them perform the entire new album. This show had no less energy than the back-to-back nights last November in NYC where _Are We Not Men_ and _Freedom of Choice_ were performed in full. That was novel and I hope the music industry leans that direction for future releases. Overall, the audience was a decent mix of costumed fans spanning the 70s forward to a gent in a home-made vest for 'Don't Shoot! I'm a Man' standing next to a young child in the red dome and knee-pads. Blue domes, gray masks and balding heads added to the diversity. VIP tickets allowed us access to the 'after show' which was very different than the VIP experience in NYC. The staff at Northern Lights was not well informed about 'the plan' up to and including during the show. Discussions with others confirmed the inconsistency as few of us were even offered the special sticker for the back room. Unfortunate for the DEVOtee collectors who participated.

DEVO has as much energy as they did in the '80s! I couldn't have been more impressed and thrilled to finally see them! I've been waiting to see DEVO since 1981 and never thought I would get to. I introduced my boys to DEVO 2 yrs ago, and they are as much a fan as I am. We drove 6 hours just to see the show, had great seats, and enjoyed meeting other DEVOTEES who showed up wearing Energy Domes and T's or radiation suits. I sure hope they plan on yet another album and tour! I'll be there!

This was my first Devo show. I've listened to and enjoyed the band for the last 15 years, but had no idea what to expect from their live performance. My girlfriend and I were blown away. Their energy on stage was incredible. Video displays, costume changes, and a rocking performance, this was an absolutely fantastic show. The only down side was the $50 extra charge to meet the band afterward, which I couldn't justify. (That and the fact that my t-shirt size sold out. Damn my procrastination!). Anyway -- if you ever get a chance to see Devo perform, DO IT. Everyone owes it to themselves to catch the spuds in action.

Best concert in a strip mall ever... and in true DEVO form the spud boys were tight, funny, and one of the most entertaining acts I have ever seen. From the video backgrounds, multiple costume changes and an appearance by the Booji Boy himself it was a night of intensity and fun. With many people dressed in costume, this show bordered on that of a demented Star Trek convention. If they are playing anywhere near you I highly recommend that you GO!

Loved every min. ~ it was great seeing this show with my son and his girlfriend... to hear him singing along to the songs, was so much fun! When he was a child I would be playing Devo on my car stereo (cassette tapes)... and he loved them as such as I did... he took over my tapes and years later (2010) he says he going to the show and asked if I wanted to go too! How wonderful is that! Devo sounded just as great today as they did back then! Great new tunes to go right along with their history hits! LOVED hearing the Rolling Stones song "Satisfaction"... which back in the day I thought Devo's version was better than "the Stones"... sorry RS's but Devo made that song better! 07/09/2010: A very rainy evening, but the ticket states "Rain or Shine." Being that the previous two incarnations of this venue: The IC Light Amphitheater and The Chevrolet Amphitheater had a tent covering the audience standing area, I assumed the tent would be there to protect the audience from the rain. From that assumption, and because of the "Rain or Shine" statement on the ticket, I did not even think twice to make the long trip from Butler, to the Trib Total Media Amphitheatre. I was wrong. There is no longer a tent over the audience at this venue. I don't know what they were thinking when they resurrected this outdoor venue, keeping all the other fixtures, but negating the rain covering! Any other outdoor venue has a pavilion to cover the reserved seat ticket holders, and a lawn for general admission. At the Trib Total Media Amphitheatre, all concert goers are at the mercy of the elements.

Devo still has it 30 years later. They packed the MN Zoo amplitheater on a hot July 3rd night. Once they hit the stage the audience stood up and never sat down again. With great visuals and a non stopping rocking drummer, they cranked out a concert filled with the classics and a few from the new disc. Entertaining as always and sometimes corny, they did the concert at a full throtte pace. Muscianship wise they were spot on and surprised the crowd a bit by really working the guitar solos....guitar solosby Devo? Songs included; satisfaction, mongoloid, beautiful world, girl u want, are we not men, secret agent man, whip it, uncontrollable urge and more.

Devo put on a great show at the Zoo. Excellent mix of old and new stuff. They pretty much kept close to the set lists they've been playing lately. Loved the video screen in back and how they showed some old videos and their new ones with the songs they performed. For the most part the sound was good, although at the end it seemed to be a bit too loud and even shrill in parts. Loved seeing all the old costumes. The image collage of all the old videos and bits was a great way to get the crowd going prior to them coming up on stage.

OK, so not everybody 'gets' DEVO. I guess that's part of the overall appeal. It's like a self-selecting sub-culture that prides itself on wit, intelligence and a decent-sized scoop of tongue in cheek-ness. I remember the first time I heard DEVO, I knew that this was something different - and that was the point. Even 30+ years later, it's still different - but relevant and timely. The concert experience met and exceeded all expectations. I've seen DEVO before, but for this limited tour they were offering a Meet&Greet package - with a VIP experience. If they continue with this as an option, I definitely recommend. As part of the VIP treatment, we were let in early and given that it was general admission, we got right up to the stage - and after the show we got a chance to meet the band (who were all very gracious). The show recreated the Freedom Of Choice album start to finish. The band was tight and the sound was perfect for the venue. The intimate setting was something to experience; a bit surreal looking up and seeing Mark Mothersbaugh or Jerry Casale hovering just feet above where I was standing. The show progressed straight through the album tracks, with a cute gothy-new wave girl holding up cards announcing the tracks like rounds in a prize fight. The tracks, many not usually played live, came to life and reminded everyone in the crowd why they were DEVO fans in the first place. It's an odd assortment of people, bonded through one of the most misunderstood and influential bands of the time. But that's ok, deep down - We're all DEVO.

As always, a very energetic, polished performance. They have taken their show to the next level with excellent videos, well coordinated with the musical performance. They have come a long way since the 3-Devo fiasco of the Oh No era! The new material from SFE was excellent! I wish they'd do more songs from New Traditionalists, which is often underrepresented in their setlists. I like their new SFE uniforms, but I am glad that they did the second half of the show in their classic yellow suits. Mark's voice was as sharp as ever, Jerry looks like he's lost weight (and grown some hair on his head!). The Bobs are always steady and reliable, with Bob1 fully recovered from his hand injury and nailing those solos with abandon (good rendition of Secret Agent Man too!). And Josh Freese has proven himself a worthy Spudboy, though I'll always love Alan Myers best! Don't miss Devo!

It is hard to resist a chance to see DEVO perform live, but then again I have seen them perform over 12 times or more now. I also saw them perform this last March at the Warfield and it was also an equally entertaining evening. I was front stage at that show, and I went almost deaf. I loved every second of it. Although they played the exact same set, and I knew they would. I wouldn't have missed it for the world. I was in a car accident a few days before this and was in agony, but I couldn't miss this show. I couldn't say nicer things about the venue, it was a dream. The only problem was getting there. The hill it is on , is very hard to get to. I wish the guys in the band would have changed their set. I am not sure they know that most of the crowd had already seen the same set at the Warfield. They are getting older, and the never EVER jam. It would have been nice to hear at least one number that they didn't play in March.I wish they would have played at least one other tune from the new album. This might be due to the wonderful visuals they have playing behind them duing their show. They work very hard on those timing issues I would imagine. They still could leave a whole in their set to play a new or older tune, but I guess we are lucky that they are playing at all. GO DEVO. This is an act you shouldn't miss. I also got a signed drumstick from the Drummer Jeff Friedl, Josh Freese wasn't at this show. GO SEE DEVO IS ALL I CAN SAY. THEY KICK BUTT.

This was another great show. Esentially the same set they played at the Warfield 6 months ago, the show was chock full of hits both new and old. They play all the new songs and "Whip it," very early in the set, and then treat you to a number of classics including, "Frredom of Choice," "Beautiful World." "Peek a boo": and others. Not a weak song in the bunch, and they all sound better live thanks to the quality of the performance. Even if you don't like their songs, you'd probably enjoy yourself just from the sheer exuberance the band brings to the stage. Highly recommended.

Very simple. I love blues, rock...many forms of music. My mainline to Truth is these boys, and they put it out in a very danceworthy form. Music is better when you're not asked to check your brain at the gate, and better still if you don't arrive with the intention of doing that. DEVO= fun, truth, a good sensory workout. Don't be afraid to engage yourself.

Devo never disappoints. One of the best bands ever! The staging, lighting, projections & of course the Music and Musicianship. My first time attending a show at The Mountain Winery, which is only 10 minutes away taking some back roads. The most beautiful Venue I have EVER been to. Spectacular. Not a bad seat in the house.

The venue was really good. Devo played well. The stage was very small for the kind of showmanship they can provide. What was up with Dj Real ??? That guy totally sucked. Next time, lose him and just put Devo on.

I thought the Mountain Winery, would have been great place for my wife to rest her back. The seats were comfortable but the walking distance around the venue was obnoxious. The scenery was beautiful, The staff was friendly and accomodating. The show was great and the food and drink prices were obnoxious.

I was really glad to see DEVO at last. They provided the soundtrack for my childhood. The show was great with fun songs new and old, many costume changes, stage antics, and audience involvement. I was bummed it ended so soon, but I think the venue had a curfew.

One of the most fun and entertaining band performances I've seen in a long time. They did a mixture of old (Mongoloid, Satisfaction, Smart Patrol) and new (Don't Shoot!). Devo was having lots of fun, and not just going through the motions. Lots of energy and fun. Don't miss!

Combining tight music with fun theatricality and video. Everyone on their feet for most of the show. Lots of fun.
