Rush

2014 marks thirty years since drummer and lyricist Neil Peart joined Rush and together with Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson set forward a course that would change the very concept of how musical and complicated rock can be. These progressive rock revolutionaries blazed a trail that would eventually lead to their induction in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame in 2013. Over that long 25-million-record-selling journey, there would be two generations of ticket holders whose minds and faces were melted in concerts shows that are otherworldly exhibitions of musicianship. Whether tearing through international hits like "Tom Sawyer" and "Limelight," or playing the long album tracks beloved by their fans, rock's "holy trinity" never stopped reaching for new heights.

Rush can retire now because it just won't get any better than the R40 tour. My wife is the hardcore Rush fan and loved the show, but even for the casual fan like myself the show was quite good. The sound at the Forum is excellent (have not seen a concert here since 1985) so didn't know what to expect. The Forum was well staffed and were friendlier than most venues. Rush combined deep cuts with FM classics to try to appease both hardcore and casual fans. Some may complain about the setlist but unless they played for 6 hours some songs had to be left out. The tour is over so not sure how helpful the review is, but the DVD should be out in time for Christmas.

Without question, for 41 years now, the band called Rush has been the ultimate blend of the best of 1970s British progressive rock (Yes, Genesis, Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull) and British hard rock of the same period (Led Zeppelin, The Who, Black Sabbath, and Deep Purple). Unfairly classified as heavy metal, the Canadian trio routinely mixed the edgier side of Zeppelin and Sabbath with the lengthier passages by their prog rock counterparts, to often stirring effect. On their recent tour, culminating in the August 1 show at the Los Angeles Forum, the final stop on their 40th anniversary campaign (it is actually the 41st anniversary of the trio as a recording and performing act), they take their fans back to their 1970s roots in a two-set performance which starts with the newest material, from 2012's Clockwork Angels, and continues in reverse chronological order, with select tracks from the 2000s, 1990s, 1980s, eventually ending with a spirited 1970s collection. Arguably, what most diehard Rush followers deem as the band's creative peak is the period when the band first coalesced and most adventurously experimented with their songwriting and musicianship: 1976-1981. Beginning the August 1 second set with two paramount tracks from 1981's Moving Pictures album, Rush received the biggest response from the audience, ostensibly filled with fans who recalled the album firsthand 34 years ago. Perhaps the band's most popular song, Tom Sawyer, began the set, followed by Red Barchetta, which had been an alternate to other Moving Pictures songs on the tour. From there, Rush played key tracks from 1980's Permanent Waves album, including the perennial celebration of their hometown Toronto radio station, the song The Spirit of Radio which has opened many a Rush show over the past 35 years. Alas, the best was still yet to come. Selecting key tracks from the album 1978's Hemispheres, 1977's A Farewell to Kings, and 1976's 2112 for their first live Rush treatment in many decades was bold, breathtaking, and surreal, given their rare inclusion in live Rush shows since the early 1980s. It is with these three albums that Rush cemented its following, locked in its sound, and aesthetically became the band which has been beloved since. In a sense, returning to this material for what could be the band's final major tour was the ultimate statement on who Rush are as artists and how their singular synthesis of classic British rock arrived at something that was at once an homage to the greatness of prog and hard rock's founding fathers and simultaneously made the band wholly original. In the encore section of the show, Rush returned to their first three albums, playing obscure tracks while reducing their trademark stage, light and pyrotechnics show to its earliest mid-1970s incarnation when they were an opening act for bands such as Kiss and played tiny gymnasiums in the Toronto area with amplifiers set upon classroom chairs. When Rush closed the show, in one of their rare instances of onstage bonding, drummer Neil Peart, likely the greatest drummer ever in rock music, joined bandmates Alex Lifeson (guitar) and Geddy Lee (bass, keyboards, and vocals) at centre stage for a group bow and possibly final goodbye. For many reasons, this was a tremendous moment in the life of the band and its diehard fans, especially seeing the trio, huddled together, saluting the crowd, with the notoriously shy and reclusive Peart right in the middle. With all three members now in their early 60s, and the days of 200 concerts a year with back-to-back one night stands long gone, Rush tours, this one included, have gotten shorter, have been divided by an intermission, and have had gigs spaced out between them. As such, the dynamics of the band have changed, and their fan following, though as strong and wide as ever, understands and has accepted this new relationship. That said, with Clockwork Angels representing some of their most ambitious recorded music in decades, one hopes that the band will continue to at least record new material and play select live dates if not embark on massive full tours.

I love this band so much. I am only 18, but I feel like I have been listening to them forever. Hearing they were going on tour made me so happy, but then finding out I would be at AIT during the time was a major let-down, before I realized they would be playing in Bristow, VA which is a two-and-a-half hour drive from Fort Lee, VA. That made me so happy, and I will be loaded by then. RUSH, here I come.

Since the Moving Pictures Tour in '81, I have seen Rush 22 times, the last time being in Jacksonville, FL 4/17/08. All I can say is if you take the time to familiarize yourself with any of their material, and then see it live.......something happens that is truly life altering. The greatest downside to Rush is also their greatest compliment.. They completely ruin it for all other musicians! If you have any doubt, just go to one show.

I have seen the boys every time they have come to St. Louis since 1984 and twice in KC for a total of 15 times! And they have always been AMAZING!! When they were here in 2008 I got third row seats and it was the best show ever! This time to hear all of Moving Pictures will be a real treat! I can't wait to hear some of the new stuff, I am sure it will be fantastic! For all the newbies, Welcome to the TIME MACHINE!

My first live encounter with the boys was ther Signals tour (1983) They performed live at Reunion Arena in Dallas, Texas ( Wher I live ) and Reunion no longer exist. It was an incredible show and have been a die hard fan ever since. Alex, Neil and that un-forgetable bass and vocals of Geddy stay with you forever, This Time Machine Tour 2010 I will gleefully be in the audience as usual viewing in total awe just how mind blowing they are as musicians live in concert. Thank you Rush for 27 years and counting of nothing less than perfect rock music and lyrics that you have privledge your fans to admire and respect for more than four decades. This summers tour will mark my 26th show I have seen live and have never left the venue they have played disappointed,

In 1976, I went to the UTEP campus to see Iron Butterfly in El Paso, TX. It was announced that they were a no-show and a group named RUSH would perform in their place. Needless to say, we were irate for the no show until RUSH came out crankin! 2112 was intense...I was immediately a fan, purchased all their albums and have been a serious fan since. August 16th will be the 3rd time seeing them at Red Rocks in Morrison , CO, the best venue for them that I've been a part of.

I have always been a fan of Rush ever since I first heard 2112. I got the chance to see them for the first time in Kansas City back in 1986. Now I get to come back to the city that first brought them to me. I am ready to rock it hard!!!!! I highly recommend a Rush concert to anyone who loves good music, thoughful lyrics and the talents of three masterful, magical musicians who know just how to put it all together. July First, Kansas City here I come!!!!!!!!!!

Been a fan since highschool (1980). Saw them in Oakland, Ca during Moving Pictures tour -how cool that they are playing the entire album!!! Saw twice last year in Concord, Ca. (Snakes and Arrows) which was a nice surprise after some of the albums in the 90's that I wasn't too keen on. This is the absolute essence of supreme talent. I don't care if you hate Geddy Lee's voice, you have to admit the guy can jam on the bass, Alex is a guitar wizard, and Neil...well Neil is the absolute flippin' god of the drum kit. Period.

I'm really looking forward to this tour! Just a few weeks ago I was telling my wife that if Rush ever toured again, I would take my 9 year old son with me. And then this tour was announced! I'm glad to see that I'm not the only die hard Rush fan out there. I've been a life-long Rush fan, but only saw my first Rush concert in my late 20s in '97 (Test for Echo), then again in '02 (Vapor Trails). For their 30th anniversary tour, me and a few friends saw them in Dallas, San Antonio and Houston. Then again completed the tri-fecta for the Snakes and Arrows in 2007 and their second pass in 2008 (although I believe it was Austin vs San Antonio for one of those tours). Anyway, I'm definitely planning to see them in Houston this September, and just maybe another tri-fecta is in order. Best live music, rock band concert you'll ever experience. Hands down.

It will have been the greatest night of your life!!! Everyone who has ever seen Rush has seen Tom Sawyer, YYZ, Limelight & maybe Red Barchetta. I've seen them play Whitch Hunt before, which was fantastic. (No pun intended) The Camera Eye & Vital Signs along with the fore mentioned & you know it will be great. Plus what else will they have in store for you??? Better get your 3-D Glasses on. They may try to scare you. I can see it now, Geddy wearing his Converse, Jeans & a Brewers Jersey. He may sing "One likes to believe in the freedom of "Baseball!" It will be "he MUST SEE CONCERT OF THE YEAR!!!" Neil really feeds off of a big crowd as does the rest of the Band.

When Rush announced this tour back in January, I knew I had to be there. I've seen this band perform live many times, as far back as the Fly By Night tour back in the 70s. As usual, these guys put on an incredible show June 8th at Nationwide Arena. I love how they went backward in time, from their new material to their self-titled debut. The stage changed as they went, going from full-on Clockwork Angels fury to the stacks of amps of earlier years to the simple setup of a band just starting out. Very Cool. I hope this wasn't the end for the Power Trio, but I will never forget the great times and awesome music they've given me over the years. Thanks Rush!

My third visit to Nationwide Arena and second time seeing Rush live in concert in what was a memorable, progressive-rock flavored experience, featuring two and a half hours of classic Rush music, a state-of-the-art laser light show complete with pyrotechnics, a fully-animated video backdrop flanked by video monitors on either side of the elaborate stage (featuring props from the Time Machine Tour), an energetic and finely-tuned band, along with an atmosphere of high-tech, new millennium rock and roll that, along with shafts of laser light, flooded the arena and could even be heard from outside the venue and well into the night. From the moment the R40-adorned curtain went up before a zealous, capacity crowd, the excitement and anticipation of the audience was rewarded by a smoking 3-song suite from the Clockwork Angels album, backed by album-themed video and multicolored lighting that was synchronized with the band's performance, and at times even flashed in unison with its riffs and drum beats. Once again, I had an excellent view of the stage from the AEP Power Level, and about the only drawback from being so high up (aside from the cramped, miniaturized seating) was a lackluster mix in which it was tough to discern the multitude of "sound events" from one another. This was first noticeable as the band launched into "Far Cry" (Snakes and Arrows) and the bass and rhythm guitars simply overpowered (or perhaps crushed) any live synthesizer samples that may have been triggered throughout the song. As the band segued into its first instrumental (The Main Monkey Business), the synth (samples) could be heard better for the remainder of set one, which included hit singles from Vapor Trails, Counterparts, Roll The Bones, Grace Under Pressure, and Signals; the songs "Distant Early Warning" and "Subdivisions" closed out the set and were highlighted by the original videos from 1984 and 1982, respectively. Following a twenty-minute intermission, the curtain went up for a second time and the band re-emerged onstage, performing "Tom Sawyer", followed by "Red Barchetta" (accompanied by Moving Pictures-themed video animation) along with "The Spirit of Radio". These songs were by far the most crowd-participatory (unless you consider the overture of 2112) and there was no way I was sitting down for any of them. The marquee number of the second set for me was "Jacob's Ladder"-a song that the band had not performed live since 1980-and I was pleased to see Geddy perform all of the original synthesizer parts on his Roland Fantom-X7. He also sang remarkably well for someone who has been fronting the band for over forty years (and, yes, he still has plenty of high notes in his usable range along with all of his bass guitar chops). Following authentic renditions of Cygnus X-1 Book II (Hemispheres Part I Prelude) and Book 1 (from "A Farewell to Kings"), the band continued delving into its 1970's discography, performing "Closer to the Heart" and a spectacular rendition of "Xanadu", featuring a classical, English-themed stage setup along with double-neck electric and bass guitars and Geddy's (Little Phatty) Moog synth (which sadly has been separated from his X7 on this tour). And just when you thought the second set couldn't possibly get any better, the band closed it out with an abbreviated version of 2112, incorporating intergalactic video and another spectacular laser light show, which provided an out-of-this-world space odyssey for a jubilant audience. For the encore, Rush opened with "Lakeside Park" (from 1975's Caress of Steel album) - a fitting summer anthem that echoed throughout Nationwide Arena and could even be heard from outside its walls in the heart of the Arena District, on what was memorable, seventy-something degree night in downtown Columbus.

Coming into the event we had seats in the 300 section to watch the event but to our astonishment as we walked up to the escalator to ride to the top, we were approached by an Amalie Arena associate who asked us how many people were in our group (which was three). He then proceeded to grant us a seat upgrade right there in the corridor. Our seats were now 116 row E, yeah only a few feet from ice level. Wooooo! What a surprise. Thanks to the people at Amalie for the upgrade. In regards to Rush and the R40 tour, WOW, it was amazing. The guys did an awesome job at cranking out the tunes to a packed arena with people of all ages. My sister, the misses and myself came to celebrate an early birthday for my sister and she absolutely loved it. I was just playing around on the computer last Friday morning and brought up the concert for that night held in New Orleans. I had just seen this show on Wednesday night, and when I saw a great seat pop up on Alex's side, 16 rows up in line with what is the second row, I purchased the ticket. I took off 1/2 day at work, came home and got my favorite RUSH jersey, and off I went to New Orleans on a solo trip. I got there after the end of the third song, no biggy. They played Camera Eye which they did not play when in Houston. This was a big treat for me. I was not enamored with the first part of this show (tour) but the second half of the show is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!! Makes it all worth the over 700 mile round trip. I would do it again! I had heard that this venue was not the best for music events, and that's kind of true. The vocals were muddy enough that it was hard to make out the words of songs we didn't know well (and there were a lot of those, with 40 years of music for the band to choose from). Still, the concert was an awesome experience. The tech work involved (including laser lights and live camera projections on the screens) was nearly as impressive as the musicians. The only bad thing about this event was the parking, which was difficult to get into (and expensive!), and took even longer to escape from. I think if I went to another event at this venue, I'd find a closer hotel and walk.

RUSH's final tour (for now) was one of the best staged shows I've seen in decades. Giving fans a sample of everything that RUSH has been for the past 40 years. Starting with Clockwork Angels and working their way over the course of 3 hours to their debut album "RUSH". Staging morphing throughout the set from their elaborate amp rigs to 2 simple amps propped on chairs by the end. This was a epic poem to fans who have held true to this band for 40 years. Sound and Imagery were completely on point the entire night. Hitting you between the eyes with songs like "Distant Early Warning" and "Subdivisions". Moving moments when they performed a song they've never done live "Losing It" featuring Jonathan Dinklage on Violin. Kicking back into their second set with the blistering "Tom Sawyer" and "Spirit of Radio". Overall this was an incredible send off for a band who has been consistent with fans, and absolute road dogs for the course of their career.

These guys pour it down with musicianship and top class. They make fun of each other but treat their music so seriously. Respect and love each other. They seem to be 3 regular guys but when they go at it (play their music) it seems like is an orchestra performing. There's a reason they were voted the best live band on the internet. Without being Mainstream!! You got to see them to know why. Amazing show. I can cross now one of my bucket list items as I was very fortunate and honored to share this concert with my son and being his first concert ever! what a double treat.

In the last 33 or so years of going to Rush shows I have never once left the arena disappointed and this was no exception. From "The Anarchist to Working Man" the trio delivered a high energy performance that had the crowd standing for the entirety of the 3+ hour performance. "I wish I could live it all again..."

Why did I wait 41 years to see Rush? I thought the show was great - it was wonderful to see three musicians so in tune with each other and still playing good music. I liked how the stage set-up changed during the show to reflect the stage technology at the time that each song was released. I loved the projection of a high school gym at the end - reflecting the band's start. Alex Lifeson is a really underappreciated guitarist - I was amazed by his playing. I have always been a big fan of Geddy's - now with Squire gone, he is the premier bassist in the hard/progressive genre. And finally, I got to see my favorite living drummer - the fantastic Neil Peart. After the show, I heard some guys complaining, but I was amazed and delighted by the musicianship of these three guys, now in their sixties. I was hoping for "YYZ" or "La Villa Strangiato," but you can't have everything in a retrospective show. It was definitely worth traveling from Sacramento to attend the show. I hope it won't be the last one either. Happy Birthday to Geddy - BTW!

This was one of the best, if not the best show I've ever seen. The quality of their playing and musicianship is unmatched by no one. This was my 4th Rush concert and my 14 year old daughters first. The set list and stage/lighting show was perfect. If this was their last tour, they went out on top! Thank you Rush for the great memories!

I grew up on the post-punk/new-wave thing, and, although Rush did flirt with the synthy timbres of this style, I never really got interested until later. Now I'm making up for lost time and exploring their vast catalog, and really appreciating them for what they are: art music in a rock idiom. But, unlike other so-called art-rock groups, whenever you think their music will cross the line into pretension, it swings back and just rocks out hard. Music for the head AND heart. Anyway, their musicianship is uncanny. Easily the best rock instrumentalists to play as a collective. I'm so glad I got to see them on what may end up being their last full-scale tour.

From the moment they took the stage, the crowd was standing. The show was incredible, the videos highly entertaining, showcasing the sense of humour we have all come to love about Geddy Alex and Neil. The devolvement of the sets, from complex and hi tech to the boys on stage with just their guitars and drums and a couple of spotlights....showcases their 40 years in just one night. I truly hope this is not the end of their touring days, and we will see them again! Hats off to the best Canadian ( and world-wide) trio of musicians and entertainers.

Oh Rush, dear Rush, where have you gone. The electricity of the crowd was awaiting the onslaught only to be let down by a boring first set and the horrible sound mix in the enclosed arena. After the break they got the crowd going with a few hits but Getty's voice was so annoying it ruined the night. They tried but we left feeling let down. They are talented but obviously were using a backing track to fill in the voids. I love Rush but this night was a miss.

This was only my second RUSH show and it was amazing. The first set was a good mix of "new" songs and a few old ones with the second set consisting of most of their classics. It was amazing just to watch them each play their instruments with such technical mastery to go along with an ever changing set. It was all I could have hoped for. the only complaint I have is that the section I was in stayed seated through the whole show, including Tom Sawyer. I did stand and got into an argument with a person behind me whose argument was that nobody else in the section was standing. Other than that I had no complaints.

This is my 11th Rush concert that I've attended and I must say that each concert gets better every time I see them. Although the band is in their 60's, their age doesn't show and they always give a great performance with 100% effort. Geddy Lee is simply amazing with his bass playing as he switched to different instruments after each song! Alex Lifeson's playing is memorizing and still amazing to hear. Of course, nothing tops the Master of the Drum Kit than Neil Peart! He gave a terrific drum solo and his setup is still incredible as he uses every piece of instrument! He didn't use his signature rotating drum kit stage this time , but it didn't matter as his timing and workmanship was great and perfect. The band started off with songs from their more recent albums and went back in order by ending with songs from their first album. After the intermission, Geddy and Alex had a huge stack of amplifiers on stage only to be broken down to just one for each at the end of the concert simulating their earlier days playing in their high school gym back then. Overall, the sound quality of MSG was great and so were the lighting, lasers and background videos used. I really hope that this is not their last major tour of this scale as they stated earlier but they will still continue to play live even in smaller venues. I will still continue to see them as long as they play live.

Rush is one of the greatest bands of all time, and they showed it again at The Garden. Unbelievable. Tight as ever, there's just not enough adjectives to use to even begin to explain how good they are. It was great to hear the old stuff. Losing It was out of this world. Xanadu, insane. Lakeside Park is one of my favorites, I was kinda bummed they didn't play the whole thing, but still good to hear part of it. Working Man was SO on point! I hope they will still do a block of shows in NYC next year, but it remains to be seen.

Rush delivered a superb show, leaving me both amazed & wanting more. For as many times as I've seen them I'm always amazed how all that sound comes from just 3 musicians- all of whom are virtuosos at their main instruments. It's understandable that they may not want to tour anymore, but they don't show any signs of slowing down. I liked how the set list featured their music in chronological order, most recent to earliest. "The Main Monkey Business" was a pleasant surprise considering how obscure it is in comparison to their overall catalogue. The screens were entertaining and well-produced. In all I would highly recommend audiences to see RUSH.

R40 shows that the members of Rush are still amazing and can still play at a very high level. I've always wished that their set list contained a few more "songs" versus the mostly instrumental tracks. That said, as Geddy does all the singing I can appreciate the balancing act. They play "Distant Early Warning" every other tour stop so I was disappointed to have missed that. That said, they do 2 sets and an encore; so 27 songs. Even without an opening act you'll hear about 2 hours worth of live music. For some reason, Lifeson didn't seem very animated. I've been to previous Rush concerts where she was a bit more lively.

I bought my tickets to this show back in February, and I couldn't wait for June 23rd to come. I felt like a kid waiting for summer vacation to start! Rush's R40 show was such a gift to their fans. Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson and Neil Peart gave us a retrospective show that started with the song "The Anarchist" off of their 2012 release, Clockwork Angels, and ended with "Working Man", their first single off of their self-titled first album from 1976. These men put their hearts into the music they performed for us. I can't imagine the amount of work and practice it took to prepare for this tour, but it has certainly paid off. Geddy's mature vocal chords are still strong and hitting the notes on point, and I love watching him sing while playing bass, keys, and foot pedals. Alex was phenomenal. His personality on stage is always fun to watch, and he is still shredding like he did back in the day. The Professor, aka Neil Peart, is precision personified. He always looks so calm and composed while playing incredibly fast across the entire kit. His arms and legs engaged the entire show. I don't know how he does it. In addition to the great music, they had fun video snippets featuring folks like the Trailer Park Boys, Paul Rudd, Jason Segel, Tom Morello, and more. I wish that I could live it all again!

Once again a fantastic show by Rush, each tour seems to get better and better, which is incredible considering these guys are in their 60s and they play a pretty intense style of music. All the basslines, Guitar solos and drum fills were accounted for in every song. No cheating, no glossing over, or phoning it in. These guys RULE, bottom line.

Rush was totally awesome for three hour tour! Listening to Xanadu and Jacob's Ladder for the first time live was absolutely awesome! This was my 11th time seeing them and they've only gotten better every single time! Even the out take video in between sets was absolutely awesome and funny! After a humorous intro video were assaulted by the thundering drums of Anarchist soon to be accompanied by Alex then Geddy. Within seconds any doubts of whether they could bring it were dispelled. Tight, powerful and confident they blasted deep into the catalog providing a significant change from the 2 previous tours. As the music moved back in time so did the scenery, stage hands in red R40 coveralls changed everything from steampunk, the washed up theme (with dinosaurs) all the way to the high school auditorium. The guys held nothing back and Howard Ungerleider delivered another amazing light show. If in fact this is it, let it be known they are at the top of their game. Alex solos are tighter and more inspired than ever. Geddy, still hitting the high notes and slapping the BASS hard (From I Love You Man) Neil, Fast & Accurate and the highest praise...Musical.

After 40 plus years of working together, the Canadian Trio continues to prove why they belong in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They preformed a wonderful reverse discography, playing a couple songs from each album starting with their most recent release and finishing with songs from their debut album. The stage was also constantly changing to approximate the look of their stage shows throughout the years. I am never disappointed with a RUSH concert and would go again in a heartbeat.

Rush's R40 concert last week at the Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Nebraska was an amazing experience. The music was as tight and precise as one would expect from these masters of their craft. The band played a nostalgic set list that started with their latest work and travelled back in time as the show progressed. As the evening went on the stage sets also slowly transformed. Alex's high tech projection orbs and Geddy's Steam Punk props were gradually replaced with sets that reflected the era of the song they were playing at the time. It was as if we were getting a quick glimpse of what it was like to see Rush in all of their different musical stages. By the end of the show we were transported back to a school gym with Alex and Geddy's amps propped up on school chairs with mics dangling over them. The band played for almost 3 hours (including a brief intermission) This may be the last "big" tour for Rush so if you have a chance get out there and sees these masters while you can.

Love 'em or hate 'em (and, full disclosure, I do I love 'em), Rush can still play their butts off. I liked that they started with new stuff and worked their way back to 2112. Ged had a tough time reaching some of the high notes in the second half of the show, but give the guy a break, he's 60-something fer pete's sake. I'm 46 and my vocal range isn't what it was when I was 20, either! The overall R40 sound seemed "extra crunchy" for lack of a better description, but I very much liked the harder, grittier sound. I thought The Camera Eye, The Spirit of Radio and Closer to the Heart especially benefitted from extra crunch. Were there a couple things I'd have liked to hear that didn't get played? Sure, but that'll be the case with any group that has a large catalog. Was I happy with the stuff that did get played? Absolutely. Rush has stopped short of saying this is a farewell tour, but if they go out again, it's definitely going to be a while. IF this was it, I couldn't be happier with it.

I have completely lost track of how many Rush concerts I've attended over the years - my very first was in 1983. This was the best show I've seen...and I thought the Time Machine Tour was pretty great. The first half seemed like it went by in a flash. One of the cooler aspects was the happenings going on around the guys playing - red jump suited crew members were continually changing and rearranging the set. It was interesting because they were obviously playing from present day into the past and the set changes was a reflection of that agenda. A fantastic time was had by all including the three stooges on stage - they smiled more than I've ever seen them smile. :-) This was also my first time inside of BOK Center - it's a terrific venue that's squeaky clean with many very friendly employees there to help.

This was my first live Rush show to attend, but I've been a fan of Rush since 1974. I've studied the band, read reviews, watched Blu Rays, DVD's, 8-track, cassettes, CD's, You Tube videos and finally saw them live, on opening night for the R40 Tour and it was worth the wait! Absolutely one of my favorite concerts ever! The setlist was great (Act II my favorite) and the culmination was 2112, Lakeside Park, Working Man and Jacob's Ladder for me personally. I'd go again in a flash if I could afford it and get to the next venue! Don't miss this show, you'll regret it especially since it could very well be their final multi city tour and the reality of retirement is facing them and us as fans.... Long live Rush. It amazes me that three guys, some in their sixties and some pushing sixty can still perform with such gusto after playing together for close to forty years. No wonder this group has such a following. A following that has packed arenas and amphitheaters on weekdays no less. To say I enjoyed this show is an understatement. I saw the first leg of this tour and enjoyed it very much. For this performance, they played another set list that did not disappoint one bit. The sound for this venue is a little to be desired but Rush can play in a tin can make it sound good. I was able to hear the strings much better for this performance and it too did not disappoint. The strings played for YYZ and it was a nice touch to a classic song. I hope with batted breath for the next tour. I know Rush will not disappoint. This is a group that still enjoys performing together and it shows on stage. What else can you ask for? A band that loves to tour, loves to tour together and show it to their fans. That all makes it an enjoyable and memorable evening for fans. Thanks guys. Please keep it going. Attention all planets of the solar federation, Rush "has" assumed control!
