Allen Americans

As I strolled into the Allen Event Center Friday evening I was suddenly struck with the question, Why are all these dogs here? Yes, it was canine night at the Allen American Hockey game. Dogs and hockey? They go together kind of like wombats and water skiing. Who came up with this? Oh who cares, it was time for a little puck and stick action. I hadn t been to hockey game in a couple of years, and I quickly noticed that the usually top seeded Allen Americans had dropped down a bit and were skating somewhere in the middle of the rankings this season. None the less, the faithful were on hand in their red, Allen American hockey jerseys with a throng of corgis, golden retrievers and dachshunds in tow. I didn t have dogs, but I did have my phone out because, even though it s hockey season, it s also March Madness, and I had to keep up with all of my Big 12 basketball teams. Hey, if people can bring their dogs to a hockey game I can keep up with college basketball at a hockey game. We all have our priorities . All the fans around me seem to know each other and even knew the usher by his first name. However, they were a rowdy bunch and screamed out, RED when the word was sung in the National Anthem. Yes, it was time to LIVE IN THE RED! Being an OSU fan, I m usually living in the orange, but then again, the Dallas Mavericks live in the blue and green while the Texas Rangers are now blue. Oh, so many colors to live in! I hear dogs are color blind, so I guess the canines on hand really didn t care what color they were living in as long as they were fed. So, on with the game. The cool thing about going to an Allen Americans game is that for the price of a couple of beers at a Dallas Stars game you can sit near the glass where you can nearly feel every time the hockey players slam each other into the glass, and there was plenty of slamming going on in this game! Of course, this resulted in the Americans taking a one-point lead in the first period as everyone jumped to their feet to sing along with, Don t stop livin in the red! Excuse me, but doesn t, living in the red mean you re in debt? Oh well, before I could ponder over the logic of it all they scored another goal giving them a two-point lead. Then more ram, bam, slam! Apparently too much slamming because one of the Mavericks had had enough, and the fight began! After three right hooks to the side of the one of the local boys head the angry Maverick from Missouri took the fight to the ice, and the two players had to be quickly pulled apart by the officials. Yes, there were very few times in this game when the penalty box wasn t occupied. And in great hockey tradition, when the opposing team s players were released from the penalty box the announcer would announce, Kansas City is back to full power. Of course, this announcement would be followed by the crowd yelling, And they still suck! As the second period came to an end the Americans were leading 3 to zip making me ask the question, Does this Maverick team indeed really suck? The crowd screamed their approval as their home team skated off the ice. Personally, I was more exited about the Kansas Jayhawks beating Clemson in the NCAA tournament, but I guess that s just me. But wait, there were more important things happening down on the ice for it was now time for the dachshund ice race where several weenie dogs were lined up to race across the ice. However, only one dog decided to participate in the race. The others just kind of stood there as if to say, This is ice you idiots! You run across this ice barefooted. I m not moving! I was kind of expecting a little yellow ice after the display of canine athleticism and apathy. Let s see the Zamboni fix that. Oh well, back to the game. Okay, the Americans had a commanding lead so this game is over\u2026or not. The Mavericks slapped in a shot putting them on the scoreboard. Then here comes another score from one of the Mavericks. Hockey players all tend to look alike. They re all a bunch of white guys with scraggly beards. It s hard to keep up with who is who. But none the less the score was now Americans 3 and the Mavericks 2. Okay, the clock is ticking. Only a couple of minutes left as both teams crowd around the American s net slashing and banging and slamming and, and, and\u2026game over! And everyone sang along with You re always livin in the RED! Whatever the heck that means. Now, I need to get ready for the Dallas Mavericks basketball game next week. Who knows. It might be, bring your goldfish night.

This was our first time to a hockey game for both me and my 12 year old son. We both had a great time. Only got to see one fight but I guess that's just how it is some times. Tickets are priced well and the traffic in this area isn't too bad considering.

Being from the midwest I don't remember having a lot of opportunities to experience a hockey game. This was my second Allen American's game. This time I brought my entire family and it was a blast for everyone from ages 2-40!!

Very nice venue....The parking is very good and it was free..The Allen Event Center is a brand new bldg and excellent place to watch Hockey.....The pace of the Hockey Game was incredible plus there was plenty entertainment during the whole game...ENJOYED>>>

Adults and kids had equal fun. We are new fans and look forward to attending more games. Easy to access the event center, not a bad seat in the house, easy to access all amenities, everything was great.

Game was awesome! I thought they had the game won, but the Oilers scored with about 2 minutes remaining. They played their hearts out. Great fans!

Some sloppy play by the Americans in the first period but they sure came on strong for a great win! Lots of fun!

We had a great time at the Allen Americans hockey game the other day. Cheaper then a movie and more fun. Brought the kids and they loved it. Very family friendly.

My husband and I had to move to other seats after the first period of the game. There was a group of at least 10+ kids (around 5-10 years old) right behind us. Because it was New Years eve they had all the noise makers besides their shrill screams. The kid behind my husband kept kicking the back of his seat. I know hockey is loud, we go to our grandson's games all the time but this was out of control. We moved down about 8 rows and enjoyed the rest of the game. While we were sitting in the lower seats one of the mothers with the group went up with more noise supplies and the blow up hockey sticks. We would buy season tickets but are afraid we would get stuck with tickets like these.

My husband & I bought last minutes tickets on NYE and it was great! The tickets are relatively inexpensive and the venue was easy to navigate. Also, I loved being able to print our tickets at home.

We had a great time at the Americans game on New Years Eve. We loved that everything we needed was in that same area. The game was great as always and we plan on going again.

Love the Allen Americans but the Game seemed so slow... Speed of skaters down to the young gals doing on the spots interviews and dance contest. Really thought it INAPPROPRIATE when she called the 8 year old and her younger friends sexy. I can endure the slower game, bc I love hockey but the added folks around the rink need some guidance!

Great seats at a great price Section 100 Row G. Would get seats a couple of rows lower so that view of entire rink would be through the glass instead of having a small part be through the net. Three quick goals in the 1st by the Americans right in front of us (pretty weak defense on one goal by the Bucks). Bucks won in overtime w/ less than 15 seconds left. My son & I were hoping for a shoot-out.

This was our first event at Allen Event Center. We recently moved to Texas and was extremely pleased with our purchase. It was a breeze to park and get to the event. The crowd was great and we will definitely visit again.

The Allen Americans are exciting to watch. The seating is great. we plan to visit again soon and bring others. Only 1 negative - Except this time we had a couple of frequent travelers in our aisle. They were in and out at least 2 times per period. They appeared to have been drinking a lot! Not rude, just annoying when you are trying to watch a game.

Listen...people in or near Allen, Texas, if you think you might like hockey, get over to the Allen American games! I used to be into Minor League Hockey back in the early 90's, in Phoenix Arizona where I was a hardcore Phoenix Roadrunners fan. Watching this game Saturday night reminded me of why I love Minor League hockey! Great Players Great atmosphere, and great effort...all worth the little I paid to get into the game!

didnt realize it was a preseason game. They didn't play hard and I wouldn't have gone.

The actual event was fun, but the seats on the glass behind the players are not good at all. I purchased 3 tickets and was not able to see much of the game because as soon as the game starts all the players are standing blocking the view and the coach was standing on the bench itself.

Game two was amazing. The speed and intensity of the game kept us all on the edge of our seats. If you haven't had a chance to come to Allen Americans game you are missing out! There's not a bad seat in the house. Go RED!!!

Awesome game!! Great family fun for not alot of money

Easy in, easy out, venue is very intimate. Average person can get up and close with some serious hockey players. (You can even hear the play calls yelled to each other!) If you never have gone to one of their games, I highly suggest it for simply the unique experience alone.

Terrible hockey game. Probably the worst I have ever seen. Way too many fights, bad refs who made poor calls and did not control the game. Both teams should be ashamed of themselves for such an unprofessional display. A friend sitting with us, left before the game ended, disgusted with the fighting. Do not let them watch the movie "Slapshot" before the game.

My wife and I had a great time. Awesome seats for the money. We will be back again to see the Americans.

Next to the Dallas Stars this is the best hockey in North Texas!

The ECHL is a fun developmental league and the Allen Americans have one heck of a team. Back to back champions. The city of Allen has done an amazing job with the arena and the surrounding area. The Allen Events Center is fantastic for hockey. Clean, great sight lines. There isn't a seat in the house that isn't great, seriously. Up and coming smaller cities in the suburbs need to look at what Allen has done and copy it. Wish the Woodlands TX had what Allen has!!!

The Allen Americans are CONSISTENTLY a great team and the best value in local professional sports. The action is 80-85% as good as the Dallas Stars and the venue really doesn't have a bad seat in the house. The fan base is great and pretty knowledgeable.

The game was good, and The Allen Americans won the game. My mom, and I enjoyed the game.

We attend the Allen Americans regularly. It is always fun and exciting. Buying tickets through Ticketmaster is so easy. GO RED. See you at the next game.

If you want to watch players who have perfected their skill to an art, the NHL's for you. If you want to watch a gritty physical game of hockey for 1/3 of the price, then this minor league club is where it's at. And the free garage parking makes it even better. As a Stars fan, I can say that the fans here are definitely more intense and the building acoustics make the crowd sound like a full house at the American Airlines Center. They've recently improved their arena experience, so it makes the game feel more like an event and less like a minor league team in a suburb. At the same time, it's still an atmosphere that you can bring the kids too.

Game was exciting. Tickets were good but all seats in AEC are good for hockey.

The game was frustrating, then nerve-wracking, then exciting, then AWESOME!!! To come from behind 3 goals and win in overtime was the best game of the year.

Much more intimate and very fun. Bring a coat and your support for your local team.

The season might have been winding down, but the action certainly wasn t. The American s were trying to gear up for the playoffs in an attempt to repeat last year s championship. Of course the Icemen from Evansville (wherever that is) were in town to cool down the American s spirit a bit. They even brought a few Icemen fans along with them. The home team took no time to score though. In fact, this happened even before I had made it to my seat. As I practiced my form for chuck a puck I just figured this was going to be an easy win for the home team. Unfortunately, the American s game plan went south (along with my chuck a puck attempt), and the American s went down 3 to 2 in the first Allen American defeat I had ever experienced in person. Oh well, I still had a great time and the American s are in the playoffs. I even brought along a couple of friends for their first time, ever hockey experience. Even though the outcome wasn t what we were hoping for they loved the game. And I still suck at chuck a puck.

Huge Star Wars fan and love the intimacy of an Americans game. It was more than worth it.

For anyone looking to enjoy a hockey game without paying way too much for nose bleed seats this is a great choice. While the players aren't NHL caliber (yet) they play hard and fast! And if you're a hockey fan who enjoys a fight you won't go wrong with going to an Americans game. This particular game there were 3 gloves off busted knuckle exchanges. And the Americans put another game in the win column!

I watch quite a few Allen Americans games each year and these seats were the best. We could see the bench, the cheerleaders, and the game as well. Sitting close to the glass is a great experience and the kids enjoyed it too.

I try to take in at least 1 game a season. Wonderful product. This is an outstanding organization on and off the ice. We lost on this day but it was still a blast. Great in house production. Incredible fans that really support the team. Family friendly product. The Allen Event Center is a great venue. Plenty of space, restrooms, concessions and FREE PARKING. You cant beat the ticket prices for this awesome team. Every seat is a great seat.

Hockey doesn't get any better than this! Not only did the Allen Americans manage to be the back-to-back Presidents Cup champs in the CHL, but this year, their first year in the ECHL, they managed to sweep up ip the Kelly Cup! How's that for a three-peat?! This team, no doubt because of their coach, is a force to be reckoned with! Go see them!

Great Hockey game. Both teams hustle and play with Great skill and an "All in Attitude." Playing for the Kelly cup and the last game of the season was fantastic.

My family loves going to Allen American games. Parking is free, food is cheaper than the other hockey team in town and every seat is a great seat. The AEC holds 6,000 fans and everyone sits within 26 rows!

BACK 2 BACK 2 BACK CHAMPIONS!! ALLEN AMERICANS proved it once again on Sunday taking a commanding lead with 2 goals in the 1st period, on their way to a 6-1 Victory over the Stingrays of S. Carolina. I bought 2 TIX the second I heard there was going to be a Game 7 and by the Grace of GOD, I got 4th Row seats next to the AA Cheerleaders! The chill coming off the Ice kept the beautiful ladies cool while they danced and cheered all game long WOW!! There must have been 20 FACE Offs right in front of me and thank GOD for the Glass as players kept slamming into it on their way to shooting the puck at the other teams goalie! The Americans had sooooo many Shots on Goal that there was action on the Ice 24-7!! Greatest Game 7 EVER! RED RED RED! Go ALLEN Go!! See ya next year!

Good game - great parking - good between quarters entertainment

We went to see the Allen Americans for the first time and REALLY enjoyed the game. The venue was super nice and the seats were incredible! The Allen Event Center was clean and everyone I talked to the worked at the event center was nice. Allen still has that "small town" attitude. Even the people selling food and drinks smiled.... Kinda strange if you've been to American Airlines Center or Cowboy's Stadium (AT&T Stadium), where nobody seems to enjoy their job.

Our seats were great. Just where we wanted to be. Good hockey, good fights, reasonable prices. Section 119 we had isle seats, free parking. Family had a great time. The only negative is that there are drums fans play through out the entire game. I will go see the Americans play again.

I mainly got the tickets to see Mountain Man. The hockey game was interesting but quite confusing . I guess I gotta brush up on the rules and how the game is played.

Most amazing playoff game yet. Only thing that would have been better is if the Referees weren't so blind.

The Allen American's continue to be the best bang for your buck you can spend on any sporting event in the entire DFW Metroplex! Very Fan Friendly, lots of Kids and not a bad seat in the house. And it may just be me but, it seems like the Game is a lot faster then the Stars Games too.

Probably the best entertainment for the dollar- in a great venue. I'm looking at trying to buy at least a half-season worth of tickets.

We went to Allen to see the Eagles play the Americans. The staff was very nice and accommodating. The Allen fans treated us with great respect and were very friendly. The only complaint I would have is that you can tell it was not built for hockey with teams coming out of tunnels on the far left side of the arena and are close enough to get into altercations. Also no scoreboard in the middle is odd but fine since there our scoreboards in all 4 sides that no matter where you sit you can see the SOG, score, and time clock.

The venue is nice, the workers were very friendly. Free parking! The concession stands were much cheaper than than places like the AAC. Tickets were inexpensive and there isn't a bad seat in the house. I will definitely go again!

watching the American play hockey at the allen event center is ALWAY a good game there is good hard hitting Hockey, they are not afraid to throw down and they don't sacrifice fighting for scoring its calculated and integrated. I was going to the Stars for years until I realized their tickets are overpriced and 1/2 the games I drive all the way to Dallas for, and pay 20 bucks for, parking for they lose. reminds me of games when I was a kid in the 70's and 80's good old time hockey putting on the foil

Went on a date, and the place was packed with Allen fans. Great chants, good energy. Lots of fun and the crowd made it that much better. They are proud of their team. Will definitely be back for another game.

We sat in section 117 which was close to the dancers and they rattled their pom poms the entire game which the sound and movement was a big distraction from the game. We were really bothered by it that we don't want to come back after going there for the first time. We ended up leaving the game.

My wife and I attended the hockey game on Friday night and we had a wonderful time. The game was exciting. All of the staff at the Allen Event Center that we interacted with were very warm and open. We highly recommend it to all of our family and friends.

We were looking for a safe, early New Year's Eve family activity. Found it at the Allen Americans game! Even the seats behind the goal offered great viewing, the prices are good, and the atmosphere is generally family friendly (can't control the fans and what they choose to yell). It helped that the Americans won 8-4. My hubbie and daughter left to get early snacks and missed 3 goals within 5 minutes!

The majority of the Allen Americans fans and the event center staff, treated us with respect and kindness. The only negative thing I can say is that they could have used more staff behind the concession counters.

First off, I am a huge NHL fan, but I have not watched much of the ECHL until this year because the Americans were not in the ECHL before. But this year they are and are int the finals. The atmosphere at this venue is unrivaled. Think the crowd is too tame at the American Airlines Center? Well you won't find that at an Allen Americans game. The crowd is really into it and you can tell they are real fans of the sport. Also, this venue is great and the prices are more than reasonable. Excellent experience all the way around!

Anytime the Allen Americans win a playoff game it is GREAT! However, this win over Rapid City, 8 to 1, was EXCELLENT! Keep up the good work guys!

Both teams came out with outstanding energy, and kept it up the entire game. Except for my team ultimately losing this one, it was a great show.

Great game with lots of action. I took my granddaughters who called this the greatest game ever. You couldn't help but cheer throughout the game and the fans around us were so friendly. Very good family venue with good food and prices. We will be back during the playoff games!

From the very onset, this was one of the best hockey games ever! A fight occurred at the opening face-off, clock was stopped after 3 seconds, and the rest is history. Great goal scoring, passing, and goal tending by the Allen Americans. We spanked them and sent them on a long bus ride home. An 8-1 victory for the home team. Couldn't have asked for a better game.

The Allen Americans game last Sunday was great. They won 8 to 2 and showed all those in attendance what a division champion looks like! This was a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
