KX is one of the worlds most underrated (from the public) Rock bands ever. And after 35+ years they can still bring it. The only problem now is that there are so many good songs for them to play, they cannot do it all in a single show! They are completely unique and awesome musicians. The sound was excellent, a perfect evening with my favorite band today.

Great show. Al started out solo, playing his first three songs on both the piano or the guitar. He explained that while his birthday is on February 5, the weather in NYC is not so good, and even moving his annual birthday concert up into early spring, it still didn't help, so he settled on June. After three numbers, an opening act (Will Dailey) appeared, and he was OK, played a short set which included a Dylan number. Then Al came back out with a 5-piece backing band, including bass, guitar, drums and two horn players. They played an assortment of Al's hits and did a great job. Throughout the show, Al took time to tell a few stories and explain a few thing about his music. After about an hour, they took a short break and then Al came back out with Jimmy Vivino and the same rhythm section and they played until after 11 PM. The final numbers were a tribute to the late BB King. All told the concert was three and a half hours....a great time was had by all.

Mark Lanegan is a hidden gem. Amazingly talented. His voice and lyrics will send a chill down your spine. See him perform and you will forget about the world outside and your problems for a couple of hours!

I'd never seen Little Richard in concert, and being a living legend, I was very excited with anticipation of entire show. An immediate notation here; I did not know that Little Richard had hip surgery in the past few months, and was still in recuperation. So with that into consideration.....here goes. Little Richard was class act. He played several of his classics, along with other older songs. He has several personal friend in the audience, so upon finding this about halfway through the show, it turned into a brief autograph session. He picked the show back up with his popular songs, and then had to end the show....you could tell he really wasn't in condition to perform, but he did it anyway. Thats a class act in itself. I got some great pictures and video. They can be seen on my facebook page of Jeff Smith "Little Richard @ BB King Club.

10,000 Light Years Band was great! All band members except guitarist Duffy King (amazing!), have played with the Moody Blues: John Lodge (Mr. Bass! and THE GUY), Gordy Marshall (drums), Alan Hewitt (keyboards) and Norda Mullen (flute, guitar). Intimate setting. Very nice venue. Amazing music! I'm hoping to see them all again!

I've listened to Loudness off and on for the 30 years they've been together. I first saw them in Japan in 1981 while in the Air Force. Loudness is one of the top metal bands to come out of Japan (along with Dead End and EZO). Unfortunately, due to several other bands canceling and another band was added, Loudness did not begin their set until almost midnight. I was standing at the stage in front of Akira Takasaki (see attached photos), and really enjoyed the concert! They played most of their recognizable music, and a couple from their latest CD: "King of Pain." In the smallish venue like Jaxx, I was no more than a foot away from the band members and was able to see them up close and personal. Although their stage show was minimal, they made up for it with their music and audience involvement. After 30 years with Loudness, Akira hasn't lost a step and continues to impress the heck out of me. If you want to see a rocking metal band from Japan, Loudness is a must see!

Heatwave took us back to the slow drag days. Lenny Williams can still do his thing. However, Teena Marie was OFF DA CHAIN. She is still as incredible as she was twenty years ago. Her pipes were amazing, the best time we had since we saw her at the House of Blues in Hollywood over ten years ago. For twenty five $$ a seat. it was the best deal in town. AMAZING.

Really enjoyed the Marillion concert at the Royale Boston theater last Friday. They played a number of their past hits along with their new material from the FEAR album. The venue was fantastic because it allowed you to quite close to the band. Looking forward to seeing them again in the future.

James delivered a solid acoustic performance. He sang a few deep tracks and mostly stuck to his fan favorites.
