Spanic Boys

I've seen Sparks over thirty times - I really can't say any performance is better than any other performance, I always love them, but seeing them with a full orchestra was pretty amazing. This show featured the entire Kimono My House album, and then a selection of other songs, most obviously chosen because they went really well with an orchestra. Ron and Russell Mael were gracious and appeared happy, Russell's voice was pretty good, still hitting the falsetto parts on the Kimono My House stuff - it's only been 40 years since that album came out, that can't be easy. A great night, nice touch bringing Alex from Franz Ferdinand out for When do I get to Sing My Way.

Michael Stanley and The Resonators are some of the most talented musicians out there. They are such wonderful people, very much like family and they are so happy to be performing for their fans. Seen them many times and I look forward to seeing them again. I would see them perform every day of the week if I could. I need front row tickets though. Mark Lee Shannon you rock! Jennifer Lee you have such a beautiful voice and compliment Michael so well. God Bless each and everyone of you!

He looks and sounds as good as ever. Liverpool must be good for longevity!

Men of a "certain age" they rocked it, and the vocal harmonies were sublime. Seattle crowd loved these Scotsmen!

A lot of people stayed away from this show, I think, because the idea of Midge Ure going acoustic was hard to grasp. Ultravox, after all, was a pioneering synth act. The people who stayed home really missed out! From the moment Midge walked on stage, he was funny, personable and REAL. He talked with guests in the audience and told stories of the first time he came to New Orleans (with Ultravox in 1980, he believed.) "It was my first trip to America and I thought everything would look like what I had seen in Starsky and Hutch. Imagine my surprise when I came to New Orleans. I thought I woke up in Provence!" He even remembered the name of the now defunct club where they played! Sadly, only about 50 people showed for this acoustic show at HOB, but it made for a warmer and more intimate performance for those of us who did plunk down $22 to hear 20 or so songs (many of them classic Ultravox and solo songs.) That's about $1 a song, BTW!! And I don't think anyone missed the synth. HIs guitar playing was fantastic and his voice robust and passionate. And as a bonus, he ambled front stage after the show to sign autographs and take pictures with the guests who remained. This is an evening I will not soon forget! A knight in the British Empire, co-author of one of the best selling singles of all time ("Do They Know It's Christmas", which he didn't play LOL) and many other top selling songs around the world (Vienna, Dancing with Tears in My Eyes, Hymn, Lament, If I Was,) What a show!

Great band. 50 years of Rock. Legends. Mick Box's guitar solos, sweeps, and chunk chords echoed through my veins. Great musicians all around. Just tell Ken Hensley to drop in sometime. See you in Sept.

I had the best time. The show was entertaining and riveting. He sounded so goodddd. I thought Luther was in the building.
