Corky Laing

Corky was very entertaining. He told some fun stories about writing and performing the music of Mountain. The musicians that played with him were great. Chris Shutters played the guitar and sang with an amazing voice. The guitar work was beautiful and clear. Mark Mikel kept the base thumping and did some great vocal work. For a 70 year old Corky can still play the drums that keep the beat going. I wish him many more years of rock and roll and I will keep my eye out for more musical work by Chris and Mark All in all a great show THANK YOU

Mama's Pride

It had been awhile since my husband and I attended a concert at the Pageant! This was an early b'day present for my husband! Needless to say, everything was excellent! No problems with traffic, no problems with parking, we had a drink and dinner across the street @ Pi! The staff at the Pageant were wonderful! But most importantly, words cannot describe just how excellent Mama's Pride was! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!! The only downside - it would have been cool had some type of plaque been presented to the band from K-SHE!!

Ray Manzarek

What an incredible, fantastic event! The Wilbur Theater was packed to see Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger, with David Brock of the tribute band "Wild Child" doing a great Jim Morrison stand-in. They played all the old songs, the favorites, lots of blues. Robby was the highlight of the night with his incredible guitar playing. Brought the house down! I loved that Brock didn't steal the show, which belonged all to the original Doors members, even though Brock looks and sounds like Morrison. This show is a MUST see if you want to experience what it must have been like to see the Doors in concert. The guys, though approaching 70, still have it; fantastic performers and they honestly look like they are having the time of their lives.

Ian McLagan

It has been since 1975 (Faces final tour) that I have seen Ian McLagan. After buying, "Never Say Never," a few years ago I quickly regained interest in his career. When I saw he was playing Birdy's I immediately got tickets. This was for the most part, a solo show. Bassist/guitarist, Jon Notarthomas accompanied on several songs. Ian played a good mix of solo and Faces material with his distinct style and sound. Aside from a few starts and stops to get keyboard settings correct and the occasional lyric flub, Ian played a wonderful show. Interspersed with some great music were entertaining stories of his time with Small Faces and Faces. Ian promised to make a return with full band in the future, a date I'm anxiously awaiting. Following the show Ian spent a good amount of time doing a "Meet and Greet" and was very charming and engaging, chatting with each fan, taking photographs and signing anything and everything put in front of him. It's always a treat when one has the opportunity to see, hear and meet a Rock legend; Ian didn't disappoint.

the show was cool, fairly well rehearsed (not to be taken for granted with reunion shows). sounded a bit like zz top with an organ, which is what one would expect. but they did just about everything the original band recorded. audio was fairly clear, but not very loud. the bb king club staff were pretty horrible, very pushy, very rude. the VIP meet and greet was a sham, more rudeness. basically stood in a crowd of angry VIPs waiting for nothing... if a band was playing anywhere else, i'd go there instead, really kinda ruined the experience for me.

Awesome. Every song a Golden Hit. Peter Noone is just as fantastic in his sixties as when he was performing in the sixties.

Great Canadian internationally renowned band originally from Calgary - love Marigold - and so many of their songs -- they are funny, charming, amazing musicians I find myself focusing in on the guitarist, the drummer, bass player taking in all their moves, licks and individual skill as well as the whole musical artistry that makes their music just solid great rock and roll --- second time to see them and they are coming back in October, they say --- when the tickets go on, I'll be picking them up. All I can say is wow! Major fun night if you love lyrical rock, a fat bass sound, and driving rock and roll drumming along with amazing guitar riffs and solos. I think the Calgary Stampeders should adopt Marigold as their theme song, since they are originally from Calgary and a song about a horse, wow that rockin' gallop would be awesome - I'll add that note the next time I review a Stamps game haha.
