Gojira rocked the shit out of Terminal 5 on Sunday night for the last night of their Magma World Tour. They went on about 10PM and played until about 11:40. They thanked the crowd in thier best English and even brought on stage their little children. It was cool. I didn't see the opening acts. Terminal 5 is the worst: bad sight lines, nobody dances, security everywhere, and venue is located in no mans land in midtown west. I wish bands would stop signing deals to perform here. Don't they know that fans HATE Terminal 5?

This is one of the greatest atmospheric metal bands in history. Their live sound is better than listening to their CD which I didn't think possible considering how great their CD's are.

Gojira literally electrified the whole crowd that night. It was no pure coincidence this show took place at the Electric Factory. Tesseract could not have been a better choice for Gojira to tour with and have open for them. That was one of the tightest performances I've seen from any band by a long shot. After their set, Gojira took what Tesseract had already set up and pumped it up to 11. Simply an amazing performance from both bands, and by far the greatest show I have seen yet.

Atlas Moth was great opener. Knew of Devin Townsend Project, and am now obsessed. Gojira, what more can I say? They were so awesome my head nearly exploded. Great bands; honestly can say it was one of the best shows I have ever been to.

While Gojira put on an excellent performance, many of their songs sounds very much alike, and the audience responds in keeping with that. If moshing is your thing you'll love Gojira. Devin Townsend, on the other hand, engaged the audience in a completely different way, encouraging cheesy hand-waving, telling jokes, and projecting funny videos on the screen behind him. His stage presence was far more engaging musically, and it really left me wishing he'd headlined.

This was a night that was full of heavy riffs that get your head moving. The Atlas Moth opened up with a sort of post-rock/doom approach created a wall of sound atmosphere that will suck some people in and perhaps bore others. Devin Townsend and his band gave the best performance I've seen them give in the 3 times I've seen them, and he is absolutely an excellent showman. In the 20 years that Devin has been doing it he has not become one bit jaded - it is very evident that he loves his fans and he loves what he does. Much fun was had during his set. Gojira then, lastly, played an excellent selection of their best songs (listed blow) and their sound was perfect. The stage backdrop with the lightning was very cool as well. While it was evident that they are not experts at English, they still engaged the crowd very well. The performance was flawless and HEAVY.

Gojira is one of the best live bands I've ever seen...right up there with Slayer, Rush, and Iron Maiden. Very tight and crushingly heavy! Devin Townsend was also outstanding.

The Atlas Moth performance was fair; they have to be more forceful as how they project their music. Devin Townsend and Gojira, they believe in themselves; powerful acts. I was beside the sound console, great job done by the sound guys.

The air was like a sea of razor blades destroying all. The floor boiled and shook to the sonorous shock waves that blasted from the epicenter of the metal explosion that was Gojira. Lock-tight, dynamic, and technically devastating are words that described the performance. Lacerated, chainsaw-massacred, and hamburger-ground are words that described the audience on their way back to the mire of a life without live Gojira.

The Atlas Moth was slower than their following acts, but was a very pleasant surprise which will probably result in me purchasing an album. 4 stars Devin Townsend was just as good live as he always is. 5 stars Gojira? Just plain badass as expected. 5 stars

Gojira was incredible! No complaints whatsoever for the band. The Masquerade had a good ambiance for a metal concert. It was kinda gritty in a good way and a hint of danger because I kinda felt like the floor was going to collapse under the power of Gojira.

Both Devin Townsend Project and Gojira played energetic sets and kept the audience pumped throughout the show despite having stated in earlier Tweets that Devin Townsend and Joe Duplantier had both come down with the flu the previous week. Both bands played at recording quality. DTP's set was way too short. I arrived late at 8:30pm and was surprised to see the opening act, The Atlas Moth, was still on stage  maybe the show started off late as well. I gave it 4 stars due to the noisy sound quality of the Masquerade venue.

Let's be clear about this, the one-two punch of the Devin Townsend Project and Gojira will flatten you. The sheer charisma of Townsend combined with his huge melodies and the relentless attack of his ace band is almost overwhelming. Townsend just commands small rooms like this, as the sea of jazz hands for "Lucky Animals" proved. The closer "Grace" came off as an anthemic call to life in the middle of an ostensible death metal show. Very powerful. Then came Gojira, which only took the intensity up about five notches. Seldom has a heavy band sounded this good and tight. Not an ounce of wasted motion or energy. Just pretty much note-for-note pummelings of recent studio fare, a sort of greatest hits package clearly intended to stoke the fire of the bands growing US fandom. Mario Duplantier simply is not human and the band feeds off his demented energy behind the kit. Most interesting was big brother Joe's end-of-show comment that they'd be back "probably before the end of the year" which sounds like bigger venues in the fall after the summer European festival circuit. Good thing. Gojira can barely be contained in clubs anymore. Do have note that opener The Atlas Moth suffered from a horrible mix for their 30 min set. Just nothing but drone and mud. Never a good sign when the sound guy is fiddling compressors and limiters 10 min. into the gig.

After finding out that Devin Townsend was playing down here in sunny ol' Florida, my friend and I drove two hours up and stood in front of the doors since noon. So yeah, we were excited. The one downer in the entire night was Atlas Moth. Not only did we and the rest of the fans wait a whole hour to hear some incredible music but when Moth FINALLY decided to show up, imagine I and the rest of the fans disappointment when, after their first song.... was.... nothing interesting. Their music felt lazy, and all around awkward. The two of us looked around us and found blank faces of what should have been moshing and happily raging fans but really, all we found were stone faces. Course, maybe my opinion was soured by the fact that the lead singer was practically spitting on us and we had to constantly duck out of range of his guitar. But who knows. Maybe my screams of pain would have gotten them all the stage faster. In all honestly, during their entire set, I was more fascinated by their drummer's Poseidon like hair. Then, when they FINALLY left the stage, Townsend came out and the fans went crazy, as it should be. This was my second time seeing him and I wish that he would do his next full show down here so I can see him in all of his Ziltoidian glory.

Devin Townsend puts on the most amazing funny and creative shows I've ever seen. I've been following devin sence his days in strapping yung lad and there is still fire in his soul. His show unforgettable and should be enjoyed at least once if you've never been, you WILL BE ENTERTAINED even if you don't like the music. GOJIRA IS CRUSHING. They have the same awesome sound that's On their records yet they have an amazing stage presence and performance. This is apparently their first time headlining North America and I am really looking forward to the next time they play a full set. If you've never herd of Gojira I listen to them RIGHT NOW on YouTube and be amazed. Oh and by the way the drummer is the mastermind behind the band he also came out from behind the drum set and play guitar with his gloves on and sang. Simply amazing.

Devin Townsend is always an amazing performer. Such a good variety of his discography. The highlight of the night though was Gojira. WOW. Talk about an intense headbanging affair. Really good sound. Some of the tightest playing I've seen. It was just an offensive onslaught of metal which was very satisfying. If you could go see Gojira live, do it.

This was an amazing show.I had not heard of The Atlas Moth before that night but they totally rocked the stage. Both singers were good, great mixture of vocals. Then the almighty Devin Townswend comes out and totally amps up te crowd. He always throws the most entertaining shows, not only do you get great metal, but a good laugh along the way. And his visual effects on the screen was awesome work. Then Gojira comes out and blasts open with Explosia and the whole venue just gets crazy. Their shows are always amazing ,I have not once been disappointed with their live shows, they have great presence on stage.definitely a great night!

Gojira was every bit as good as I anticipated, although the setlist lacked a few songs I expected to hear (notably Explosia). I think the best part was the volume level was low enough to hear everything and enjoy it, yet loud enough to be forceful. Lights were pretty good too. I got the impression that they had to adjust their normal stage set to fit the venue. The video screen behind the band seemed to be cut off a little at the top, and the position of the fixed lighting truss above the stage meant that lights and reflections off the cymbals caused huge glare spots on the screen, making it hard to see what was there sometimes. Not a fan of drum solos (and I'm a drummer!) but this one had really great visuals to go along with it and of course Mario is a beast. The band has awesome energy, their music is so powerful, and the smallish crowd in the club as pretty into it. Can't wait to see them again.

One of the best shows I have seen. I don't remember all of the openers but one that they were touring with seemed kind of insincere in terms of stage performance. Gojira however seems like they truly enjoy what they are doing and embrace the crowd in a genuine manner. Really just wanted to write a review to post this photo.

One of the best concerts I've ever seen and I have seen hundreds of shows. Gojira fed off the crowd's energy and gave a very powerful, tight performance. Much more than I expected. This was the final show of the American tour so I think the band really put there all into it. No crowd like a New York City crowd. I have read other reviews about Terminal 5 that complain about drink prices. I say to those people buy your booze at the store and stay home and listen to a CD. I thought the sound at the show was great. The people were energetic and very into Gojira, Tessirac and Car Bomb!

The band was awesome. The art work that Mario the Drummer made for sale was so cool,. I just wish he had some larger pieces for sale. I had never seen them live before and now I will not miss them again. We met the band and they were all down to earth and so mellow to talk to. The manager was a jerk though he would not let us take a picture with the band only get autographs.???? A PICTURE ON SOMEONES FACE BOOK WOULD PROMOTE THE BAND AND GET THEM MORE FOLLOWERS. Getting right to it, if you're a fan of Gojira then you'd be very happy with the show. One thing that was nice is that it was just the two bands, Tesseract and Gojira. Sometimes these shows are overloaded with local bands who aren't necessarily bad but when you're there specifically for one band you don't want to sit through four others. Overall the sound in the venue was very good. Vocals seemed a little low occasionally but it wasn't anything that took away from the show. Some venues have this tendency to turn the volume up to 11 when the headliner comes on and they get speaker buzz. This didn't happen. It's important because Gojira is VERY heavy, chunky and there's a lot of bass in their sound. You felt their heaviness and the venue didn't overload their speakers. My drink vibrated in my hand but the sound was clear. Both bands performed well. Tesseract has some insane "math metal" rhythms and the vocalist has a fantastic voice with quite a range. Because they opened, there wasn't much to their performance, just a band performing their music which was tight and of good quality. Gojira, however, not only performed their music tightly, they also included some interesting visuals on a screen behind them. One song in particular was awesome in how it starts very fast with a crazy drum beat (I'm terrible at titles, I'm sorry), it's a song from Magma. With that they had an intense lightning visual on the screen with syncopated lights that went with the drums. It was a powerful effect. Not good for those prone to seizures. Both band played a variety of their songs, both old and new so it was likely that you got to hear some of your favorites. I went there to have my face melted and I got it.
