Nobody really entertain me. Singers moved a little while. They looked tired.

One of the worst Chitown Blues Festival events. Having the Calvin Richardson R&B mixed in with blues artist was disappointing. Pokey Bear performance was embarrassing to hear and witness as he lip sync and had no band to play for him. More embarrassing was the person who followed him on stage recording him with a mobile phone.

Blues legend, Bobby Rush, was fantastic. A great singer, a great performer and harmonica player with a great band behind him. He is one of the old-school, professional blues performers who knows what the people like. However, I was unhappy with some of the other performers, i.e, Poke somebody, and I left after that performance. Willie Clayton was supposed to be on the show, but I don't know if he ever performed because I was so turned off by that guy Poke who did not have a band and was not really a BLUES singer. He is the reason I didn't give the show 5 stars, but I want to commend and recommend Bobby Rush and Bennie Latimore. I am a big BLUES fan. April 7th was my birthday and I was looking forward to enjoying a nice "Blues" show. At 69 years old, when I go to a show billed as a Chi-Town Blues Festival, I expect to see Blues singers, not Poke running across the stage with no band singing, "I love the Blues". The performer Calvin Reese (?) had a nice voice, but he was NOT a Blues singer. And his YOUNG band played so loud when they started that the lady next to me put her fingers in her ears when they started playing. The only saving grace for the performer "Calvin" was that he sang two Bobby Womack songs, which back in the day were considered Rhythm and Blues (R&B). Calvin R would be okay in another setting, but not in a Blues Festival. It was as if the people who produced or marketed the show were just sticking "anybody" in the line-up. They should have allowed Latimore to perform longer as he is more of a Blues legend rather than let that Poke guy stay out there so long as if they were "stalling for time" for a possible "missing" performer, but as I said, I left the show after Poke and do not know who performed next at about 10:00 pm.

This was my 1st time seeing Pokey Bear. He was entertaining. I would definitely see him again. The age group for this concert was around 40 and up. I was so embarrassed to see our people standing at the bottom of the stage like they were 21, trying to touch their hand and snatch cd's. Seriously, you touched his hand now what? They had to get security at a 40 and up concert. Other than the embarrassment, Pokey Bear did put on a good show.
