Venue itself was very nice!.... but the location itself does not have much to do in the immediate area prior to the show (parks, nice restaurants ( Althoug O'Sullivans was very nice, great staff, great food.....need more places like this close by). Having seen The Outfield 6 times and being a diehard fan, seeing Tony Lewis live again with new music was fabulous. The BEST part was being able to meet him and his wife after his set, thanks them, and take photos.

l attended the show on 7/11/2018 and was very disappointed in the sound crew's inability to mix ABC's (The Headliner) set. 1. The drummer's drum pad was not heard (maybe muted) in the house and his pad was very key in certain songs.. like "Look Of Love" & "Poison Arrow" 2.The background mics were VERY LOW..and the band was signaling the engineer to turn them up with no success..., they finally brought the volume up on the last part of the last song!!!....the band was visibly frustrated. 3.The stagehand that came out to adjust the amps, etc..looked like he just got out of bed...wearing an oversized (WHITE t shirt) and army fatigues. .

Limahl, Tony Lewis, ABC, and Modern English were all great. They played their hits and got the Bergen PAC rocking on a Saturday night! And, the place was packed! However, Belinda Carlisle was awful - she came out and sang her songs like she was in an empty room. She was completely disconnected from the crowd. She also left before the end of her last song! If you are going to see her, don't waste your money. But, the rest of the lineup was superb! We thoroughly enjoyed the evening!

I am a music fanatic. I have seen so many shows - new bands, old bands. I am, admittedly, a huge Thompson Twins fan so I am very biased. Disclaimer finished. Seeing Tom Bailey perform for the first time in twenty-seven years was a trip. I saw the Thompson Twins three times in the 1980s. I tend to like guitar-based bands REM, Silversun Pickups, and generally keyboard-based bands don't impress me live. HOWEVER, Tom Bailey is a giant exception. He sounds awesome, commands the stage, and seems to feel the lyrics. I wish this set of shows was in the middle of summer so I could have caught a few more. It was that kind of experience for me, my wife, and 21-year old daughter (who is also Thompson Twins geek.) Howard Jones was solid. The second half of his set was powerful. Midge Ure is a genius song writer. It was a treat to finally see him live... he rocked.

Katrina, China Crisis and Midge Ure played for 25 minutes apiece. Howard Jones and Tom Bailey played for 45 minutes each. Katrina was first, and she did about five songs, including "Going Down To Liverpool" (which she dedicated to The Bangles, whose cover of that song was the reason Katrina & The Waves got attention from record labels) and, of course, "Walking On Sunshine." From the front row her vocals were hard to hear, but fortunately the sound mix was much better for the rest of the acts. Next up was China Crisis, who had one song that was played here in L.A. on KROQ, "Working With Fire And Steel." This one song is also played frequently on outlets such as Sirius XM "1st Wave." Did they play it? NO! What? Them not playing "Working With Fire And Steel" would be like Midge Ure not playing "Reap The Wild Wind"! OH WAIT. Midge was next, and did he do "Reap The Wild Wind"? NO! What??? That would be like China Crisis not doing "Working With\u2026 Ah, you get the picture. Midge did do Ultravox's "Hymn," "Vienna" (gave me chills!) and "Dancing With Tears In My Eyes" (not as chills-inducing since he really can't hit that high note in the chorus anymore), as well as the solo tune "If I Was" and a song that he wrote and produced, Visage's "Fade To Grey." That was pretty cool, but I would've gladly traded it for "Reap The Wild Wind." I decided that after the show I was going to tweet Midge to ask why he didn't do my song! After those three acts, there was an intermission, and then came Howard. He is always awesome and fun. He did pretty much the same setlist as last year, including "Like To Get To Know You Well," "Everlasting Love," "The Prisoner," "What Is Love?" "Things Can Only Get Better" and "New Song." But he freshens them up to make them sound more modern, and of course he has the audience sing a lot of the parts. After another intermission was headliner Tom Bailey, who hadn't played in L.A. since 1987. I have to say that before the show I was surprised he was above Howard Jones on the bill, but, wow, did he put on a great show! He did all Thompson Twins material -- including "In The Name Of Love," "Lies," "You Take Me Up," "If You Were Here" (the song that played at the end of "Sixteen Candles" but was never a single), "Love On Your Side" and "Doctor! Doctor!"; the encore was "King For A Day" and "Hold Me Now," the latter of which was one of the best audience sing-alongs I have ever experienced. He even had his backing band stop playing, come to the front with him, and listen to all of us sing back to them. It was really cool! After the show, I was lucky enough to meet Midge and ask him in person, why no "Reap The Wild Wind"? He actually gave me a very detailed answer! He has never done it solo -- only with Ultravox -- because it requires a lot more instrumentation that what he uses solo, but he added that I may get a chance to hear it in the future because he's working on getting Ultravox to tour in the U.S.! WOW!

Katrina was okay but she set the show to just get better and better and best! China Crisis was fun and they seemed to enjoy themselves. When Midge Ure came out we thought it was odd that all 3 acts so far had the same players. Despite that Midge Ure's voice was spot on! He was missing the electronics of Ultravox and his solo stuff but it didn't take away from his set. HoJo was brilliant as always. ...and then Tom Bailey. I saw the Thompson Twins a couple times in the 80's and they were my top #1 all time favorite back then. Tom's performance was nothing short of what the Twins did back in the day. You Take Me Up and If You Were Here brought me to tears! Awesome night in an awesome location!!

This was one of the best concerts I have seen in a number of years. The Greek theater a perfect location for these artists to exploit their craft. It brought back so many memories of my younger days listening to, in my opinion, was the greatest decade for music. I really miss the sounds of new wave and would love to see a revival. This tour has been somewhat of a "refresher course" in how music should be played- Loved Katrina, China Crisis, Midge Urge and his excellent band, Howard Jones -fabulous set. Finally Tom Baily of the Thompson Twins after a 27 years gap- would love to see these bands again.

Wow what a nice surprise this amphitheater is- and a quick drive too. I would see any event at this place- can't wait to go back. The show was incredible- Midge Ure played every song i could want to hear from him and his voice is still perfect. China Crisis sounded great although i was not crazy about their set list. Howard Jones was awesome, and Tom Bailey took over the stage and played all the great hits, plus a few surprises that i never thought i would hear again live. A+ all around!

Five bands--Katrina of Katrina and the Waves, China Crisis, Midge Ure, Howard Jones and the best for last, Tom Bailey. Good show. Katrina looked great, China Crisis entertaining. Howard left me longing for more. Never realized Midge was such a rock star. Tom made the 27 years without his music worth the wait. Emily on drums for a few sets blew me away. Forget education, if I could do it all over again, I would have tended bar and played the tubs!!!

Possibly the best value you'll get for your money--much like a five course dinner at a fine restaurant. Led off by non-stop 30 min sets by Katrina, China Crisis, and Midge Ure sharing a backing band, then a short break to the always consistent Howard Jones. What a thrill to hear Tom Bailey do those great Thompson Twins songs. I'm sure everyone wished their favorites had more stage time, but no one could really complain with what they got.

Normally I have nothing but glowing reviews but between the sweltering humid heat, the overly cramped table setup at Chastain, the disappointing crowd turnout and some lack of energy by the warm-up acts it was literally a hot mess. Belinda Carlisle absolutely saved the day and left us all wondering why she was not the headliner. Modern English started off awkward and unprofessional but soon found their groove and should be fine the rest of the tour. They should headline only behind Belinda. ABC was on point and many great songs but those songs are not house rockers - they should have opened after Tony Lewis (Outfield). Why Tony wore NY Italian mafia sweatsuit in the 98 degree heat is a crime we will never solve. The big misses were the energy behind the one hit wonders - I Want Candy, Too Shy, and Josie were all half efforts and required crowd effort to drown out the lack of auto tune needed for at least 2 of these songs. Overall it s worth the price of a cheap seat but otherwise just create a Spotify playlist.

I went to this show super excited to not only see Howard Jones again, but to also see Paul Young for the first time. I was not disappointed at all by their performances, and was pleasantly surprised at the other groups as well. Katrina of Katrina and the Waves kicked off the show in a very strong three song set. She looked and sounded amazing!! Paul Young was next and I admit, his performance put a smile on my face that didn't leave the rest of the night! Modern English played familiar tunes that any 80's teen would recognize. The English Beat ripped their high energy set. The energy on stage was palpable and electrified! If that wasn't enough, Men Withou Hats dominated the stage with fun, light and love. Of course to top it all off was Howard Jones. His vocals are as clear and strong as they were three decades ago. His musicality is superb and his band is equally strong. His use of video made his performance a feast for the eyes and the ears. I left this show singing the songs I hadn't thought of for years (and downloading them all on iTunes). I loved it so much I had to get a ticket for another performance. Cannot wait to do it all over again!!

Overall the concert was good. The first 4 performances were good, but nothing to scream about. I understand that when you have several performers performing in a short period of time that some of the technical aspects are lost due to constraints. These performers did not get the sound quality check that would of made them better. They also did not get the lighting effects to enhance their performance due to performing in the day time. With that said, they did a nice job with what they had. They did at least 1 hit in their 3 song performances. In the final 3 performances, the sound and performances got better. Men Without Hats were fun. English Beat was definitely on their game and gave a high energy, spirited performance that had the crowd on their feet the whole time. The final performance was Howard Jones. Howard was exceptional with great sound, lighting, charisma, and energy to make for exceptional closing act. I highly recommend seeing him, even if solo. He was that good. Bravo Howard Jones.

Whenever you're going to attend a nostalgia show like this one, there's always the risk of it being lackluster and sad. This was NOT the case here. All the acts brought their A game. Katrina (formerly of Katrina and the Waves) rocked the house, China Crisis was wonderful, Midge Ure's vocal performance was tip top, Howard Jones was infectiously fun and Tom Bailey (formerly of The Thompson Twins) was simply magical. The audience did NOT want the show to end. When you're seeing 5 acts, that's quite an accomplishment! Nice job! The full set list is too long to fit below, so here it is... Katrina: "Rock n Roll Girl," "Red Wine and Whiskey," "Going Down to Liverpool," "Every Step," "Do You Want Crying," "Walking on Sunshine" China Crisis: "African and White," "Wishful Thinking," "Black Man Ray," "King in a Catholic Style," "Arizona Sky" Midge Ure: "Hymn," "Fade to Grey," "Vienna," "If I Was," "Dancing With Tears in My Eyes" Howard Jones: "The Human Touch," "Like to Get to Know You Well," "Everlasting Love," "No One Is to Blame," "The Prisoner," "What Is Love?" "Things Can Only Get Better," "New Song" Tom Bailey: "We Are Detective" (instrumental intro), "In the Name of Love," "Lies," "Sister of Mercy," "You Take Me Up," "If You Were Here," "Love on Your Side," "Doctor! Doctor!" "King For A Day," "Hold Me Now"

The Retro Futura tour (formerly the Regeneration Tour) is essentially a 1980s pop nostalgia show, this year featuring Belinda Carlisle, ABC, Modern English, Limahl from Kajagoogoo, and Tony Lewis from the Outfield. Also billed on the tour is Annabella of Bow Wow Wow, but she wasn't performing this night. In trying to cram 5 bands into one night, there were understandably short sets from everybody. In fact Limahl, Tony Lewis, and Modern English each played about 5 songs, each of which predictably ended with their huge 1980s hit (Kajagoogoo's "Too Shy", Modern English's' "I Melt With You", and The Outfield's "Your Love"). My main draw to this was Tony Lewis, who has just released his first solo album. I've been a huge fan of The Outfield ever since their debut album came out. Most power singers lose their voice over the years, but Tony Lewis sounded pretty much identical to how he sounded over 30 years ago. My only disappointment is that the roster didn't allow his set to be longer than 5 songs! He started with "Say It Isn't So" and "Since You've Been Gone", then "All The Love In The World". I was happy to hear the audience around me singing along with every line. Then he played the single "Into the Light" from his new album, and of course finishing with "Your Love". Of course, I enjoyed the other bands too. Modern English kept hilariously teasing the audience about "waiting for 'the' song". I wasn't sure if I would end up liking ABC, but I was really surprised. I had forgotten just how many great songs they had, and bought an ABC compilation the next day.

Awesome show. A little confusion because apparently Bowwowwow's lead vocalist--who appeared on the T shirt--was NOT at this particular performance. I guess she's in some concerts, not in others?! Otherwise, a fantastic show. The five acts all did their most famous songs, beginning with Limahl (ex-Kajagoogoo lead singer, 5 songs), Tony Lewis (ex-The Outfield lead singer, 5 songs) and Modern English, the lone holdover from last year's Retro Futura show (which I also attended; 5 songs). Then came kind of a surprise when Go-Go and solo star Belinda Carlisle came out and cranked out NINE melodies, followed by Martin Fry's ABC with TEN tunes. Absolutely awesome. The show ran slightly past its slated 11PM closing time, but I'm glad the powers that be let it run its course ;). If you're a fan of the acts in question, which I am to varying degrees, it was a fantastic!

I think, as with any oldies review show, you understand what your signing up for beforehand. The bands are often fragmented (very few original members) and for the one-hit wonders you may need to suffer through a few dud songs before you get to your favorites. In this case, much of that was true. While Limdal, The Outfield and Modern English were good leading acts (The Outfield was better of the trio given their more notable song list) the show was fragmented after Belinda Carlisle (who we all assumed would be the headliner) came on afterwards leaving ABC to follow her with an energetic but lesser known songs. We felt bad that many folks started leaving after Carlisle but understood it as she was great and a hard act to follow. Bottom line, understand which groups are going to be at a given performance and try and learn about the show's format beforehand to help gauge your night.

Went last year and LOVED it, artists played just the hits (no new music) and kept everyone dancing. Unfortunately the one band I didn t really enjoy last year, Modern English, was back. We thought Belinda Carlisle was he headliner but ABC closed. Belinda rocked the house, sang the her songs and Go Go s songs and had the whole place dancing and singing. ABC came on and played some stuff I never heard and the energy drained. I think about 30/40 percent of the audience just left. ABC sounded great but it was a let-down after Belinda. Missed English Beat, they were awesome last year. Not sure we will come back for this again.

The vocals through Kajagoogoo and The Outfield were extremely muddy and the music wasn't much better, the person running the mixing board could clearly use some lessons. The sound improved slightly for Modern English and it semed like they were finally figuring out what they were doing toward the end of the set. Unfortunately for Belinda Carlisle we took a huge step backwards and while the consummate professional and doing her best to work through it, Belinda was clearly frustrated with a wide variety of issues (her in ear monitors not being loud enough, her tambourine being missing and her mic stand continually collapsing). A couple songs into the set it seemed like they finally got a qualified audio tech in place as the vocals cleaned up markedly mid song and the music improved slightly through the rest of the set. With this being the first time I'd seen her solo in years I don't know if this was planned, but once her vocals were complete on her last song, Belinda seemed to storm off stage leaving the band to play the last 30 seconds or so of the song alone. The woman who appeared to be the stage manager seemed confused by Belinda walking past her, so I presume it wasn't planned.. The sound continued to be decent for ABC, with the highlight of their show being the sax player, unfortunately other than his solos his sound was was potted down too far and couldn't be heard. I had really looked forward to seeing Annabella as she was the only one on the tour I had never seen, but with no explanation she never played . I think that they used the wrong mics on both the drums and the sax as even when the rest of the sound improved the drums never sounded right and like I said other than the solos the sax was lost in the mix. Highlight of the evening was certainly Belinda, she had the crowd on their feet through her whole set and why she wasn't the headliner was beyond me as she is clearly the bigger star. When I saw them setting up for Belinda after Modern English, I had presumed that Annabella must be using Belinda's band as that was the only rational reason I could see to put Belinda not as the headliner. Overall I was disappointed in the show, last year was pretty great but this one kind of sucked. They are going to have to get a really great lineup of bands to pull me back in to see this tour again in the future

Retro Futura 2018 had a nice lineup of bands, solo acts.and solo acts that used to be in bands. I saw the Long Island show and local legend Larry The Duck came out at the beginning of the show to welcome the crowd but the we didn't see him or anyone else acting as the nights MC. If there was one it certainly would have made the transition between bands a little smoother. The music itself though was on point. All the bands sounded great. And from the opening vocals of Annabella to the closing notes from ABC, people were moving and grooving. Definitely worth getting out to see the remain dates on this tour...if you can get tickets.

The concert overall was pretty mediocre. The first two acts were short, but I would say they were okay. It didn't seem like Limahl put too much effort in with his vocals. I wasn't too familiar with The Outfield's songs, but Tony Lewis was okay. I had seen Modern English many years ago, but this time around I didn't think they were very good. The lead singer's vocals were just okay. I thought Belinda Carlisle sounded horrible. I was cringing at times because of her her warbly voice, just awful. I loved her solo album and have it on CD, but she is terrible live. Her band was really good, though. The only redeeming thing about this concert was ABC. Martin Fry's voice still sounds amazing and I didn't even know all of their songs. The band was really good as well. Chastain needs to install some big screens for the people sitting further back.

It was a good show, only half full. I liked that although there were 6 artists, there were no long delays in between. A nice steady flow from one act to another. Always a good view in Westbury.

We enjoyed the concert and reliving this great music, but there were sound problems at Chastain Park. The mike, or mikes, used by lead singers made their voices sound very muffled - especially noticeable with Limahl, Belinda and Martin Fry (ABC). They should have been clear as a bell; as it as, if I didn't know the songs, it would have been hard to understand the words. Also, there was a relatively long time between some sets; program could be tightened up more. And the T-shirts are ugly. But overall, we enjoyed the concert and it as worth the trip. I think this was the first stop on the tour so hopefully this feedback will be helpful.

I don't know who schedules these tours but there are several 80s concerts packed within a couple weeks in Atlanta...and outside where it is 1000 degrees. Seems like all the concert mgmt is trying to tap from the same limited fan base. As a result, crowd turnout was very low and that killed the energy level. Musically, Belinda Carlisle was amazing and best in show, but I did enjoy all of the bands.

What a great show and assembly of talent from the 80's. Each one of the groups who performed put on a great show and looked like they thoroughly enjoyed playing in the smaller venue.

The entire show at Retro Futura was excellent. I loved everyone and it was so great to see some of my favorites from high school. The show started pretty close to 7pm with only a few minutes in between each act. I am glad I was not late or else I would have missed Paul Young who only did 3 or 4 songs. Overall what a great concert!!

6 acts played to a small but enthusiastic crowd. Katrina (The Waves must have been busy) was surprisingly good. Paul Young was slightly creepy in a lounge sort of way, particular when he kissed back an older fan. Modern English reminded me of everything that was wrong with 80s pop - the cheesy keyboards, fuzzy arpegiated guitars. They nailed their one song though. The biggest high and low was captured by the English Beat. Dave Wakeling still has the great voice and the 9 piece band was in top form. But only 4 songs?? Did they have a date? We came mostly to see the Beat and while they crushed the set it was way too short. On the other hand Men Without Hats was way to long. They played Safety Dance twice, an ABBA cover and Pop Goes the World. Really? And they came after the Beat. Finally Howard Jones came out and did a proper set. I was never a big Jones fan in the 80s but have to admit he was great. He's an excellent songwriter and his voice was in top form - he's still nailing the high notes. Who knew EDM started in the 80s? His band - two drummers, a synth player, and a very talented guitar player (who was way too low in the mix) were tight. Jones has added layers of synth bass and drums to his 80s pop tunes to transform them into something modern. His set felt like the only new material all night. Well done Howard.

I might have been one of the youngest people at this show given that I was just a baby/young child in the 80s. I got into music at a very early age, however, and I personally feel the 80s is the best decade in music. So many great musicians emerged in the 80s, countless awesome songs were written and recorded. Sadly, the 80s - at least for the moment - seems to be a forgotten musical decade. Shows by "80s artists" just never seem to sell all that well for some unknown reason. Maybe there are a lot of people out there who think this music is "cheesy?" Well, they don't know what they are missing! Sure, there are many one-hit-wonders of the 80s, but there are also many established artists, and the Retro Futura tour had an interesting mix of both. This was one of the cheapest concerts I've been to since I was a little kid, and from a "bang for your buck" perspective, there was unbelievable value here. This was a really great show! I loved, loved, LOVED the middle acts in this show, who each performed about 5-6 songs. Modern English, a band with only one bona-fide hit, somehow had the crowd on their feet from the very start of their peppy set, and that was impressive to me. The next band to follow, The English Beat, I'd seen a few times before, and they always do a phenomenal job. Men Without Hats followed, and they were hugely entertaining. Katrina from Katrina and the Waves and Paul Young were the two "openers," and they each did a great job. Howard Jones was the headliner, on stage for about an hour or so. He played all the hits. His style of music tends to be a little too "cheery" for my personal taste, but he is an excellent live performer, and I respected his use of electronic instruments, including the famed keytar! The Retro Futura show was 4 hours of nearly non-stop live music from my favorite decade in music - what's not to love?! The only thing I could recommend for next time is to play slightly smaller venues where the show would be guaranteed to sell out.

FIrst off, if you are even considering whether or not to attend this concert, just buy your ticket now and GO! These bands and songs were the soundtrack of my high school and college years and they brought back great memories. Although I had only ever seen them in videos, seeing them perform live was amazing. Every performer looked and sounded great and had lots of energy and the crowd cheered and danced the whole time. Howard Jones was spectacular! But every act brought so much life to the stage. I miss this music so much! My husband came along mainly to appease me but he was thrilled to see these bands from the video era come to life before us. Such a great night!

Such a fun show, however for most of the bands, the mics were horrible! The lead singers mics were not loud enough. I also think they should have had fewer bands and let the opening bands do more than just 3 songs.

Each band was great and got the crowd on their feet dancing & singing! The only disappointment was that Paul Young went on stage 2nd (around 7:15pm) and half the people were still arriving and buying drinks, finding their seats etc. It was sunny and bright out and Paul only did 3 songs and nobody was paying attention, no one was standing up and dancing... very disappointed :-(

Although the weather could have been better, all artists who performed had very limited set lists comprised of their most recognizable songs. Only Modern English performed new material. The audience was very involved, dancing and standing for the majority of the performances. The venue was the perfect size for the audience who attended allowing the audience to be involved in the show to the extent they wanted. Overall, the sound was good, the artists knew what their audience wanted to here and a great time was had.

The show began with Katrina (of the Waves fame), Modern English, English Beat, Men Without Hats, and finally Howard Jones. We missed Katrina due to a personal snafu. I was surprised that Men Without Hats was considered more of a "headliner" than English Beat, considering the latter had more hits. All of the bands played really well, and were a lot of fun. English Beat and Modern English came off as very "real" bands. Men Without Hats came off as a pre-programmed dance club band with a computer playing the drums and bass. Howard Jones also had some programmed stuff, but he had a real drummer and a percussionist. We were sore the next day from dancing, and hoarse from singing along. That should tell you how good a show it was.
