We first saw Marc Cohn at The Paradise in Boston, MA back in the late 80 s when he was touring in support of his first album. We have seen him several times since and thirty years later he continues to put on a great show. The recently renovated Aura is another wonderful spot to experience live music in Portland. The small venue allows you close proximity to the artist and the sound is excellent. Wonderful experience overall.

Great opening set by Nate Jones really got the crowd going....great mix of originals and covers. Marc Cohn was amazing. Backed by 2 others (organ and percussion), he told great stories and performed a set, hitting heavily on his first great album. Several standing ovations throughout the night. A must see artist !!

Marc and the band played through his entire first album in celebration of it's 25th anniversary. This venue was great for him as it's as intimate as his stories seem throughout the show. Really shows off the subdued but immensely talented band.

I took my husband and 19 year-old daughter - all of us loved the evening - his sultry voice, fantastic keyboards and lyrics (I even loved the remakes and can't wait till it's released!), the "scintillator" wowed us, being a part of the engaging audience was a blast. Thanks to MC for such an incredible evening!

Not very impressed with the BergenPAC itself, it's OK and certainly has lots of great shows. Marc Cohn always puts on a great show, and spends time engaging the audience. I always feel like I'm listening to a good friend. I also have a small crush on his guitarist, Shane. I would like to be his guitar. Suzanne Vega was also very good, In fact, better than I expected, though I really went to see Marc & Shane. Would like to give an extra 1/2 star for the post show signing. Especially because Marc & Shane allowed photos.

Suzanne Vega opened. She set the stage for the more or less acoustic night. Marc's show started slow and maintained that feeling. His piano playing was beautiful. He managed to play several songs I had not heard before...and I've been a fan since the beginning and have all the current CDs. He also played several tracks from his new CD which is not MC original songs. His first. A new take on some songs from 1970. Very nice to listen to. For me...I love the whole band experience and not the acoustic. Otherwise it was a perfect night. The sound was excellent. He was rather playful due to the fact that his next day concert was cancelled due to the snowstorm. He was going back home to NYC after the show instead of hitting the road.

Suzanne Vega co-billed the show and opened. I enjoy her music, but the sound system or the sound engineering left something to be desired. Initially I thought it was just because I was sitting in the third row and the sound guy was listening from the back - I couldn't hear or understand Suzanne Vega well at all and there was some noise interference with the sound of the instrumentation as well. Marc Cohn came up next though and I heard him fine. Marc Cohn was the reason I bought the tickets. I had seen him in concert before and was moved to tears. I love his music but Marc's performance live is phenomenal. Marc's performance last night was both emotionally charged and vulnerable. It's an honor to sit in the audience and share time with one of the best performers I've ever seen. Last night was all that and more. My only negative feeling about the entire evening was that I felt cheated because Marc had less time on stage because of Suzanne's opening act.

Marc Cohn -- An exceptionally gifted musical artist! His music, his words, his voice, his passion... His songs take you to wonderful places, and you want to stay there longer. What vitality and stage presence, and certainly, great rapport and comfort with his audience! Our 20- something and 30- something daughters have seen him at his rare concerts, loved him, and knew that their parents would love him, too... THEY WERE RIGHT!!! We thoroughly enjoyed his show! And btw, kudos to Shane Fontaine, too! Another fantastic musician!... loved the "dueling" guitars!

The concert was a mix of old and new songs. Marc Cohn's voice has gotten better with age. The arrangements were great and the performance had an "unplugged" feel to it. The songs and arrangements for his new album were inspiring. I am looking forward to purchasing and listening to the new album. I look forward to his next concert.

I must say that I WAS a moderate fan of Marc Cohn and knew even less about Suzanne Vega. After last nght's show, they both now have a MAJOR fan. They were both AMAZING live!! I would highly recommend the show. I am surprised that they do not sell out larger venues, but I'm glad I got to see them in a more intimate setting. I can't wait to hear them again!!!

It felt as intimate as a piano bar, with Marc interacting directly with the audience, honoring requests and answering questions. The venue allowed for incredibly close views of the artist and made you feel like a vital part of the evening. Marc also made a specific point to highlight Shane as the co-artist for the evening. They played wonderfully together. The music was interspersed with humor and fun.

I haven't been to too many concerts over the years, but I honestly think this may have been the best concert I've ever seen. For the most part, he played the tunes I wanted to hear. Wonderful stories and interaction with the audience. Marc is a fantastic singer songwriter whose fingers dance across the keyboard and guitar strings effortlessly (Shane Fontayne is great too). A big thumbs to Midwest Wireless - this was a bit of an experiment having a concert in a more intimate setting which I thought was great. Hopefully, they will bring Marc back or bring others in who can utilize this room.

Cohn's performance in Mankato was vibrant and exuberant. He was engaging and professional in his performance in front of a small crowd of about 500. He carried on and conversed with the crowd in a friendly manner. Best moment was his intro to walking in Memphis. He detailed the history of the songwriting and then delivered a soulful rendition of a song I'm sure he's played over a thousand times.

No matter where or when I have seen his show, Marc is consistently wonderful. His ability to tell a story with music compels his audience to pay attention and the reward is great! I enjoy his casual interaction with his audience. Shane Fontayne is a master on guitar and a delight to watch. I must say that the highlight of the evening was when Shane's son (Shane Barakan) came on stage to sing...the delight on Marc's face was evident, and that boy can sing! All in all, it was a wonderful evening, in an excellent venue and I am glad to have been there. Thanks guys!

Marc Cohn did not disappoint. He was spontaneous and went beyond his recorded music with a lot of riffs and prolonged blues vibes. Aura is a great space. The entrance security was a bit overwhelming and unexpected, but I guess that's the way it is these days. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because our seats were near the bar and entrance and we could hear a lot of people talking during the concert. Will get balcony seats next time.

Marc Cohn return to his hometown (nearly). The Cleveland native put his best foot forward at Akron's E.J. Thomas Hall Sunday, April 9th. Accompanied by two talented Musicians: Glenn Patscha on keyboards and vocals and Joe Bonadio on percussion, Marc lead us through a smorgasbord of his finest. He has great stage presence and delivered backstory anecdotes shedding light on his musical gems. An altogether fantastic evening. Glenn Patscha switched between piano and Hammond B3 seamlessly, and covered background vocals with ease. Marc Cohn left the piano several times to play acoustic guitar with a funky slap-fingerpicking style that was both melodic and rhythmic. Everything was anchored by Joe Bonadio's incredible djembe p[erformances.

Mark's a good guy. Tells some interesting stories about how he wrote Walking in Memphis along with some good intro to other songs. Unfortunately he didn't overwhelm. His three man band is limiting, they don't ever get going even on his hits. In addition, his improvisation on his hits is artistic but not what we were there to hear. I wanted a traditional version of Walking in Memphis, Ghost Train and Silver Thunderbird. I guess he's been singing these songs so long that he feels he needs to "jazz" them up. In my mind, I wish he'd stick with the classic recorded version. Mark Cohn is a heck of a musician. Simply wasn't "wowed".

We had the pleasure of seeing Marc Cohn at the Gracie and it was even better than anticipated. The venue (our first time there) was perfect. The size of the theater offers a great seat from anywhere and the acoustics were incredible. Both my wife and myself were extremely happy that he sounds identical in person to his albums. This particular concert was similar to the Storyteller tour type where he spoke about his first album and did the entire album in chronological order while enlightening his listeners as to the back-light of each song. Phenomenal. It was a rare "school night" out for us and we'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Marc Cohn is celebrating the 25th anniversary of his first CD and to that end, he has put together a performance that includes every song on that CD in order of original play, accompanied with visuals (photos, home movies) and charming disclosures and history about his lfe reflected through his music. This is not a rote performance of old songs, but rather a reinventing of delivery that includes jazz renditions and spontanneous riffs that make the classics seem new again. Hearing how and why the songs were written, what they mean to him, and stories about the people who have passed through his life or influenced him is an interesting way to style a performance. And it was a fun way to pass an evening, being reminded why I have enjoyed Cohn's work over the years, and revisiting my own memories triggered by each of those 11 songs. He is a smooth, charming, and effortless performer. I couldn't help but feel a little pandered to - though not insulted by it - because it is easy for your fans to love hearing the old music and feel as if we were receiving a gift of genuine intimacy that I am not so certain was real. Most everything, except Cohn's love of his music didn't seem to "dig down deep" and he remained as private as he has always seemed. That works for me. I prefer a little mystery rather than the leave-no-stone-unturned disclosures of current trends. I left satisfied.

I have seen both singers apart (not as a duo act). Shawn sang her heart out and told a few funny tid bits which was decent. then came along Marc, his set list was very very short, If I had never heard him do "walking In Memphis" before, I would be very disappointed. He would normally talk about the song, the story behind it and it sounded like the song we all came to love, This time it was more blues based and not near as good as the hit, to be honest I was disappointed. Marc only played what seemed like 20 minutes. Both Marc and Shawn had stated this was their fist show and first time sharing the stage together, that showed. Maybe when all is worked out, I'd change my opinion till then just sit and wait!!!

First let me say, I am a rocker (KISS, Motley, Etc) and my wife wanted to go see this show. However, I can appreciate talent and songwriting skill and this man is a master storyteller and a genuinely friendly and giving soul. How often do you get to shake the hand of a Grammy winner, yet he stayed to sign any and everything you wanted? He told behind the scenes stories of the music and took shouted out requests from the audience. His back up band is incredible and we were 6 songs in before I noticed there was no drummer because the arrangements filled up the room. With songs like "Walking in Memphis", "Paper Walls", "Walk Through This World", "29 Ways", "One Safe Place", "True Companion", "Perfect Love" there was never a dull moment. Go see him. It was my first time and I'll never miss another one of his shoes in my area.

If you only know Marc Cohn for his hit "Walkin in Memphis" you're missing out on a lot of soulful, emotional, and grooving tunes. This guy really connects with the crowd and seems genuinely spontaneous on some of his arrangements and lyrics. His guitarist Shane adds tasteful licks and the occasional backup vocal that fill up the songs just enough, but still leave Cohn's deep, gravely voice front and center. He now incorporates many of the cover songs from his latest CD which were all recorded in 1970 (e.g. The Letter, Maybe I'm Amazed, Into The Mystic, etc.), so if you're new to his music, there will be a few other songs you recognize.

This year we saw Marc Cohn at the Somerville Theatre in Somerville, MA. The show was super, Marc delivered a sincere, heartfelt, line up of old hits, new favorites, and wonderful tribute to Etta James. We saw Marc at Tupelo Music Hall last year but were too late to get tickets before they sold out. I enjoyed the show much better with the intimate setting of Tupelo. We were way in in the balcony and could hear and see everything quite well. It just lost some of the intimacy that he had with the smaller venue.

We caught Marc Cohn and band at the Burnsville Performing Arts Center. It's a nice facility, woefully underbooked (that's a whole other story), so we decided to go primarily because it was one of the first name acts at the joint. I own Marc's first two albums and had heard tracks from his latest effort, but hadn't really followed his career, so I really didn't know what to expect. Lucky me. Marc and band put on a first-rate concert, obviously inspired by the many die-hard fans in the full house. He played lots of tracks from those first two albums, and a few tracks from his latest. His voice was in fine form, helping create soulful performances of all his songs. He interacted well and often with the audience, responding to requests and telling stories. He told us this was his last gig for awhile (he said he was heading home where no one applauded when he walked into the room) and he wanted to make the night last. To that end he played more than two hours straight, no intermission. He came back for multiple encores, playing at least a half dozen songs after the official end of the show -- many requested by the audience. It's unusual to see a performer so genuinely inspired by the audience. It was a lovely evening of great music, and I'm very glad we came. The house certainly seemed to enjoy it.

Marc Cohn was amazing! He had an incredible percussionist and a great keyboard player with him. It was a perfect mix. Marc is very funny and told just the right amount of stories with his songs and his voice was incredible. I would love to see him again.

Marc Cohn is an incredible song writer, story teller and musician and his band was really tight. I loved the venue...no bad seats and the sound was incredible

This guy is so personable how can you not like him. Great voice, soulful lyrics, incredible partners on stage with him, great stories. It's like he is in your living room. Personally, the venue is a bit weird being in a shopping mall. I wanted to see him at the Coach House, but couldn't make that. Now , that's a music joint! Really, though it should all disappear if the performer is doing their job and Marc Cohn did his job. Would love to see him again.

We have been going to Marc Cohn concerts for twenty years. He tells interesting stories both in song and on stage while chatting to the audience. His voice is as rich as it was at the beginning of his career. Clearly, he has an audience filled with long-time fans who enjoy his performance as if for the first time. His show is uncluttered as he is accompanied simply by a gifted percussionist and brilliant keyboard player. Marc's concert is truly an example illustrating the validity of the expression less is more. We can't wait until Mark returns to Southern California.

First of all, the Scottish Rite Auditorium is a great venue. Beautiful facility. You can easily see the stage from anywhere you sit and no parking fee. I really came to see the Blind Boys of Alabama, but Marc Cohn was actually the headliner. The Blind Boys started out with a few songs, some from a new album and of course, their unusual version of Amazing Grace. Marc came on and joined them for one song and the Blind Boys left the stage. I actually didn't know who Marc was until I realized he did the Grammy Award winning song, Walking in Memphis. I found him to be humorous and enjoyed the songs he performed. The Blind Boys returned at the end of the show to do a few more songs with Marc including If I Had A Hammer and the concert ended on that note. Great show.

I have been lucky to see Marc in concert about a dozen times over his long and storied career, including at the beginning of his career, one of first concerts after the incident and to the present. This time, he showed up with something special...the Blind Boys of Alabama. Not only did they do an opening act, but they came back for a large part of Marc's set. Marc has always had the gospel influence in his music, but listening to his music WITH a gospel group was amazing. I have never jumped up from my seat to applaud, but I could not help doing so after many of the songs. And Marc looked like he was having as much fun as the audience. Thanks, Marc, for leaving a lasting memory in South Jersey.

All the artists are amazing gifts of talent. They perform truly from their heart and soul. The show blew away my expectations. Marc is an amazingly genuine person and it was a gift to be in his presence. Thank you for a great show and for being such a great person.

Marc Cohn on his own is a good show. Butt adding the Blind Boys of Alabama makes for a special and interesting collaboration. The respect they have for each other's music was evident. I'll add that the Scottish Rite Auditorium in Collingswood is a great venue.

In a word I'd say WOW!!!!! This is our third time seeing Marc Cohn and first time seeing the Blind Boys. The entire concert was just wonderful. The Blind Boys are so talented and so humble. The concert was uplifting and spiritual. I love how they introduced Marc as their Hebrew friend. Also, Marc is such a soulful and talented musician. Everyone should see him at least once. We plan on seeing him every time he tours. We love how he praises his fellow musicians on stage. He's very sincere, funny and makes the audience feel relaxed. It's always an intimate concert in whatever setting.

I had never seen Marc Cohn or the Blind Boys of Alabama in person but am familiar with their music. I knew it was going to be a great evening of great music; however, I didn't know that I would walk away feeling really uplifted. The harmonies of the BBOA were just beautiful and that Gospel sound is so compelling. Marc is quite personable and his songs tell such great stories....amusing and heartfelt. The venue is a nice place to see a show. The acoustics are great and I don't think there's a bad seat in the house. Mine was perfect. I would definitely recommend seeing Marc Cohn and the Blind Boys of Alabama....separately or together. It's an evening you will never forget.

Was enjoying the show until political opinions were injected. Musicians and actors are for entertainment, stick with your jobs. Because of this, will never attend again nor recommend. Interesting, he kept his opinions to himself when opening for Micheal McDonald as did Micheal. Cohen should use his example!

Outstanding performances by Marc Cohn and his three accompanying musicians on Sat. night. Hard to believe they'd only played three gigs together as of this show. All four were all-Pro, and Cohn himself (who I'd never seen in-person) showed versatility, craftsmanship, humility and a sense of humor that left me with only one regret: namely, that his set was too short. Just as we were "getting to know" Cohn and his bandmates, the set ended. The one encore was also too short. I would have loved listening to just the guitar player and other keyboardist if Cohn's pipes needed a rest. All in all, I came away with a new appreciation for an artist I'd enjoyed for many years.

Marc Cohn put on another excellent show at The Bear's Den. Played most of the audience's favorites and interacted with the audience during the entire show. Saw Marc the last time he was in WNY, both shows were great.

My only complaint about the show was that it was too short. He played amazing music, had a great rapport with the audience. The Bears Den is my favorite venue for any show. i saw Marc last year when he toured with Bonnie Raitte and it was great to see him again in such an intimate setting.

Marc was definitely in top form-he played until after 10pm. The energy of the crowd ignited his veritable talents. Marc told the stories behind, Walking in Memphis", "One Safe place" and more. I have seen him many, many times and he was the BEST EVER on August 3rd ( my birthday BTW) ! Thank you, Marc and thank you, Birchmere : )

Love Marc Cohn. he was wonderful! impressed with his opening act. We love the Birchmere. only issue was our seats had us looking at his back the entire time. It was my husbands bday and Birchmere wouldn't let us bring his cake in which was a bummer. overall it was great!!

Marc Cohn is entertaining, funny and so talented. His piano playing is just fantastic and his voice is rich and soulful. He took his own songs and added a bluesy twist to some of them to make them even more interesting as a live act.

More than 20 years after the release of his first album, singer-songwriter Marc Cohn clearly loves to perform and to connect with his audience. Accompanied only by keyboard player/singer, Glenn Patscha, Cohn played deeply affecting versions of many of his recordings and a couple of fun covers. His funny and warm comments in between songs were all intended to both reward the audience with his appreciation and to keep them engaged and amused...it worked. It was a great show and Cohn sat at a table and signed autographs and chatted with folks for a solid 45 minutes after the show.

What a wonderful concert! Marc Cohn is one of my favorite musicians and one of my favorite performers, and he never fails to be THE BEST. He seemed to give the crowd just a little bit more than is his usual -- and that's a lot. He's also funny! His voice gets better and better, and his musicianship is unequaled. As I said, Marc Cohn is THE MAN!

This was our second time seeing Marc in this same format and venue, yet he varied the set enough from the last time to make it worthwhile. It was just Marc and one other keyboard player (no drums, bass, etc). Marc varied the set between piano songs and guitar songs- WOW- he is awesome at both. He also truly opened up the set list for shout outs to play anything you desired, though don't ask for Freebird or he will make you leave. Still, he did all the favorites and hits. The only disappointment was that he didn't stick around to sign autographs this time because he did not have any new merch for sell. Oh well, it is about time for a new album from him anyway and we will be there when he is ready to come around again. Marc Cohn- a real American treasure! Get out and see him soon.

I had never seen Marc Cohn in person before and when I heard he was in Durham the same weekend I was visiting my son, I knew this was my chance. My son knew his songs from various long driving trips during the summer when he was about 10, and he was up for going to the concert with me. Marc lived up to my expectations and far exceeded them. It was fascinating to hear the stories behind the songs, and he had a great rapport with the audience, and interacted quite frequently, instead of just singing his songs. His voice sounded great. My son who is now 25 really enjoyed it as well. I joked with him later that sometimes you end up loving the music that your parents used to torture you with. I am sure Marc's show will be a good memory for my son!

What a great performance! The opening band was fun to listen to and Marc was absolutely phenomenal! He sounded just as good live as when he sings on his CDs. He had a clever sense of humor and could do stand up comedy perhaps in his next life. Something about his voice when he sings is almost magical. The only 2 things that I would have to complain about is that 1) the theater was too warm for me. I prefer the cold, and the air was very still for most of the performances except for about 10 minutes before it was about to end. 2) I wish I could've met Marc personally to ask him about the song Olana from his CD Burning the Daze. It's a song that has always intrigued me

We are longtime Marc Cohn fans. Friday at the Saban was typically wonderful. Marc was chatty and as always his conversation was witty, interesting, and articulate. His performance seemed a little more inventive than usual. In other words, he changed up many of his selected songs with clever endings or repeated phrases. There were four of us and we all felt his show was perfect. We were happy to see Shane appearing with Marc. The two together offer something extra special.

I have seen Marc before and he did not disappoint.. He's up and positive and has such a great supply of songs. With just Shane Fontaine playing guitar and himself , a lot of music is generated. It was easy-in/easy-out at the Saban and we had a relaxing evening.
