Cults

Indiepop band Cults set the internet ablaze with their 2011 self-titled debut, earning praise from bloggers and fans alike for their retro sound and infectious melodies. The year 2013 saw no slowing down for the Manhattan duo, as they released their follow-up, "Static," and its single, "I Can Hardly Make You Mine," which added a darker edge to their sunny pop. On tour, they've also added new layers by filling out their lineup as a five-piece and showing a more aggressive guitar sound. Visually, they've even added a wall of static-playing TVs behind them on stage to match the static motif.

Great show, wonderfully arranged visuals to accompany each song made all of them stand out individually. Madeline's enticing dance moves paired with Brain's melodic chord progressions made this concert. Ending each song with a "thank you!" adds a charm and politeness, with everyone dancing and feeling the music the crappy weather outside didn't dampen anyone's mood. Amazing!

Love their new music it is amazing and has such a full sound. Everyone needs to here their new album Static. They also have one of the coolest light shows for a band their size. Hope everyone supports em so we can get them to the next level!

I was so excited for this concert, I love the cults and had been listening to them non stop in the days leading up to the concert. But when they came on, the songs were almost unrecognizable. The sound was horrible! Vocals could barely be heard, all the other instruments sounded messy and out of sync. It was such a disappointment that u left halfway through. It's a shame

this is a young band with only two lp, it should be difficult to remains interesting a whole show but they really have no filler. More over, the lightshow was really awesome.

Cults were really good and put on a good show. The vocals were a little muffled but overall the show was a good experience.

I really love the Cults and understand that they've got a particular sound. I've seen them live before, granted in a larger outdoor venue. The Fonda is one of my favorite music venues in L.A. and thought they would be epic there. Unfortunately, that was not the case. The sound appeared to be off by a few seconds from just in front of the stage. Others around me also commented that she sounded off beat and that it did not sound good. My companion and I headed further back towards the sound engineers to take a better listen, and it did not get better. Eventually, we left after a half hour of listening to their set. I was highly disappointed and saddened that a great venue and a band I love, just did not mix well together that evening.

The sound was terrible!! Everything was echoing the entire time. Acoustics sounded off key the whole time. The combination of bad sound with a semi unentertaining performance by the Cults made it a bad combination for a show.

I didn't know what to expect at first. I've heard people say they're not good live and from others that they're great. I had to check it out for myself. I love their music and couldn't miss this concert. This was a great concert! One of the best that I've been to. They are great live! I don't know why there is bad reviews, but this was a show to remember!

The band was great. They sounded pretty much like the album. The only thing that upset me was that they only played for 45 min set and did not play "Bad Things" off their debut. But over all I loved the performance and would love to see them again. I hope they always play small places b/c their sound I can not imagine in a big stadium. I hope to see the band live again real soon.

Cults were really spot on as a band. They sound just like the recordings live and they had a good stage setup. The rest of the show was bad though. The 2 opening bands (why were there 2 opening bands to begin with??) were bad. They had no reason to be on the same bill with cults. The 2 bands (especially Delicate Steve) sounded nothing like something you might expect for an opener and I sat in the lounge for most of the time until cults came on. The whole show started 30 min late also which made it worse - Cults didnt start until 11:30. I expected something better.

Vocals were under-amped. Maybe they were trying to replicate the sort of distant-vocals effect of the CD, but it doesn't work live; Madeline just gets swallowed up. Show was very short and hyper-faithful to the CD tracks; wish they'd experiment more musically and give us some stuff we can only get live.

Saw the Cults over the weekend! They put on a great show, they sounded amazing and had good energy. This was my first show at the Paradise, it's a wonderful venue, very cozy, great sound system. I'll definitely go back to the Paradise and will see the Cults wherever they play the next time they come to Boston.

They must be a studio band b/c her voice was awful, muffled (possibly intentionally) . i would have been happier listening to the album at home. Too bad b/c it's such a great album.

The band started way to early and ended right after we got there. Additionally, by that time you would expect some energy and by that time it seemed like the crowd was asleep. The singer's mic was way to low and you could not hear her voice (a pet peeve of mine.) Stick with the albums.

Sound was poorly set up. The drums were too loud, the lead singers mic was too low. You couldn't hear her unless she screamed the lyrics. Everyone in the audience started to lose interest and by the end of the show, most people were just talking among themselves.

The set times were innacurate since one of the openers bailed. Cults finished their set at 10:15! I've never been to a show that horrible. Sound was terrible or maybe it was her vocals? Regardless, worst show ever. And they ended the show saying, "We normally don't do encores..." who are you? The Stones?! PS. We don't need to see her face spawned 20 feet across as a projection.

Her voice was nothing like the recording. I still liked the show for the most part and still enjoy the cluts music... but disappointed in her live singing voice.

Great energy, really fun show. My only complaint is that it was a little on the short side.
