They sounded just like their recorded songs! Very polished and talented. Loved how tuned in to the audience they were. The flute & sax performances were spectacular!

MTB concert was great! All the band members are multi talented, humble and patriotic! We really enjoyed the concert at The Grand Casino and we love this venue. We loved all of the songs they performed and really appreciated how genuine they seemed, really down to earth people. I am not sure why there are many negative reviews about MTB , maybe it is the venue and issues with sound, not the band?

The opening act was a talented group of musicians and better than Marshall Tucker Band where there was too much rambling talking and unending jam sessions, and not a whole lot of singing going on. They did do their biggest hits, but lead singer is way past his prime. On the positive, and the reason this review earns a generous average, the facility was phenomenal. Modern, clean, spacious open air amphiteather, good view from all seats and easy-access free parking.

Marshall Tucker Band was amazing. Doug Gray--original co-founder -- at 61 was awesome. He did have help with vocals from other band members and his nephew--who was a phenomenal singer ! The fellow on flute and sax was the most incredible musician on those two instruments that I've ever heard -- no matter what style of music. The venue -- Mable House Amphitheater was fantastic as well. Best outdoor venue I've ever been to. The concert was well worth it and I would see MTB again in a heartbeat!

The band did a great job , they sounded better than ever considering the music has been around for 39 years. But the lead singer, if you can still call him that, just needs to let the crowd enjoy the music. Stop the chatter and just sing so we can remember those great hits. He totally ruined the mood with his constant talking. Just shut up and sing!

The show was really fun and entertaining, but they played a total of 6 songs in 1 1/2 hours! I love it when musicians add some "talking" in betweeen songs, but this was a bit much. They stopped "Can't You See" 3 times to talk to the audience and have us sing the chorus for at least 6-7 rounds, and I just thought it was too much, and it frankly got a little annoying. I just wanted to hear them sing the song! I would have liked it much better if there had been a little more playing and a little less talking.

I grew up with MTB and other southern rockers. I've been to over 15 MYB concerts over the years from the 70's to the present. We went to the concert at DTE to see MTB along with the Atlanta Rhythm Section and the Georgia Satellites. The weather was rainy and cold, Upon entering DTE, there was hardly anyone there. We got to our seats (2 rows from the stage) and waited for the show to start. Satellites came on 1st and then ARS (which IMO was the better of the 3). There was only about 400 people, maybe 500 at the tops for this concert and the weather didn't help. Heck when we 1st came into DTE there was only about 10 people sitting on the hill. Anyways, the crowd was somewhat into MTB but not like other concerts that we have recently been to or other MTB shows that we have went to. Doug Gray's voice wasn't sounding to good and he seemed to have others sing more than himself. He also spent a lot of time walking around talking to the band members while on stage then singing or getting the crowd going. He did get pissed off at a woman in the crowd for some reason, I think it as because all she did was sit there and not move or could of been sleeping for all I know as I didn't see her. But he definitely made mention to her a few times for a reasonable amount of time. As for the show itself, they played 6 or 7 songs with NO encore. When they played "Can't You See" for the 3rd song" , I knew they wasn't going to be on long. My hubby and I left right afterwards and we both agree that this would be the last MTB show that we go to. We'll still listen to them, but won't be attending any shows for awhile

The Marshall Tucker Band has been active going on 40 years. They have one original member , Doug Gray. I expect Mr Gray has quite a bit of clout within the band and they pretty much follow his lead.Mr Gray cannot expect MTB to fill large venues especially in inclement weather. They only played for an hour and left when Mr Gray couldn't work the crowd to suit him. MTB is a great band composed of highly skilled and energetic musicians.Good luck boys!

The leader of the band was poor at best. All he did was talk, mostly incoherently. He was very poor with the lyrics and he covered up what music the band was playing. Thankfully, they only played a few songs and wrapped.

I was really expeciting a pretty good show, but when the band started playing, it was obvious I was in for a disappointing evening. The worst of the worst was the lead singer, who must have been so stoned he wasn't sure what planet he was on. I ended up leaving after 3 songs (my ears couldn't take it anymore). I heard many people in the audience who were grumbling about the same pathetic performance.

Lifetime
As a lifelong fan on the MTB I was sorely disappointed with this show. It seemed to me that the music, which is what we all came to hear, was second fiddle for most of the show. An extreme amount of conversation and long drawn out solos by every band member seemed to dampen the spirit of the show. I know it did for me. After nearly two hours on stage the band had just finished the third song! Having already stood on my feet for several hours before the MTB started, listening to the late on stage Atl. Rhythm Section, I was exhausted. Let's face it , none of us there were spring chickens! I wish them many more years of success but I'm afraid this will be my last show. I like their music the way I grew up loving it, soulfull, upbeat, and without excess baggage.

Satellites and ARS did a great job. Marshall Tucker came up last - DUDE! - he could not even remember the words to the songs - too high or too old, I'm not sure, but I sure wished I'd kept my cash. I guess when it's gone, it's gone - and the Marshall Tucker Band is gone.

The opening band, Atlanta Rhythm, was excellent. The lead singer was wonderful in voice and showmanship. Really enjoyed them. But quite the opposite with Marshall Tucker Band. What a disappointment! The lead singer has lost his voice, and can't sing anymore. To that point, he spent the entire show holding the mic to the audience to sing ! We didn't intent to be a part of a sing-a-long. No one in the audience could sing either. Their show was a total waste. We were very unhappy, and over heard one employee say, "That guy can't sing, and I could sing better!" And we paid good cash for this show......

I've been a fan from the beginning and have seen some great performances by Marshall Tucker over the years. The show at the Paramount 12/7/17 was a huge disappointment! Doug Gray should retire now. He can't sing anymore. Played slow songs all night that nobody cared about. Can't you see and Fire on the Mountain were improvised and sounded horrible! Was very disappointed as was the crowd!

I have been tracking the Marshall Tucker Band for a year trying to catch them close to Baton Rouge because they are fantastic! I'm glad Mr. Gary's ankle is not broken too. His voice is as sweet and soothing as the album's I have been listening to since the 70s. I loved the Outlaws too and to witness B.B.Borden's drum solo was great. I thought Mick Fleetwood was the best drum soloist I had ever seen but maybe not now. I cannot say enough about the music and solos to ever describe how happy I was to finally see MTB. My new goal will be to catch a show with Bob Away My Blues on the set list.

I was lucky enough to score front row seats for this show. It was amazing, we were literally 3 feet away from the band. I can honestly say that there are very few "bad" seats, so I assume I would have enjoyed it from anywhere. The band was real receptive to the crowd and syed a lot of great music.

Singer and tambourine player Doug Gray is the last original MTB member after 40 years. It showed... like he's tired... bless his heart. It appeared as if he was allowing the rest of the band to hold up the band high as a whole. And they did! Flute, SAX, keyboard, singer Marcus Henderson was amazing! A must see! He and the bassist/ guitaris(s) must of made Toy and Tommy Cadwell deeply proud (RIP).. keeping the MTB passion hot! Many of audience look forward to hear a bands top hit, like "Can't you see". My biggest disappointment; many older bands, have the audience participate by singing along with the bands the big bullet song. I've heard over and over the audience wants the band to jam full tilt boogie with themselves, ie. "Can't You See?". The audience takes away, though it can be fun, from the richness of the song. That's my only disappointment. I wanted the band to carry "Cant' You See" without the audience.

Doesn't matter if MTB makes you stomp your feet to Hillbilly Band or makes you sway to Desert Sky, this band always delivers authentic vintage Southern Fried rock and roll. Really like these guys ever since I got their albums back in the 1974! Went with friends and heard Marshall Tucker play the great hits. This is my second rock band at the new Canyon in Santa Clarita however my wife and I will not go back due to a horrible sound system. The sound mix was so bad it hurt our ears, even the flute sound higher notes. The band stopped playing to ask if the sound mix could be adjusted. There are some great groups coming to the Canyon. They and the customers deserve enjoyable clear audio!!

I'v been a fan of their music sense 1974-- been to 4 of their concerts years ago. They sang only a few of their old hits maybe 3? mostly cover music. leed singer (Gray?) has a bad back which was part of the problem i guess. I love their music but not this concert. If you don't.know their music go see them. if expecting the old stuff listen to your old lp's.

This was one of the worst concerts I ve ever attended. There were very little vocals . Mostly long guitar and drum solos. Lead singer sang maybe 3 lines the entire night then he had to go take a seat on the side of the stage. I know he s getting up in years but seriously if he can t sing along with the band he should return. The others band members who did sing, again there wasn t a whole lot of sininging, were good. They should bill themselves as a tribute band and drop the old dude and go out and SING! I will never go see them again.

They did not play " Fire on the Mountain" or "Searchin' for a Rainbow." Their 69 year-old lead singer (Doug Gray) was terrible. If ever a cover band was in need of a younger singer capable of handling its catalogue, it's the current line-up of MTB.

Doug Gray, the sole original member left in the band was having a tough time singing. He mentioned that he was on some painkillers from a recent traffic accident. The rest of the band filled in capably but what really left me perturbed was the shortness of the show, 88 minutes for $60 per seat. The venue crowded in as many seats as they could and it really took the energy out of the room.

Bought tickets to see MTB as my husband is a HUGE fan for many years. The lead singer was hard to understand, he sat down on a stool for the entire show. Then he took an extended break while the guitarist played extended solo. ALL IN ALL A HUGE FAIL. Whole concert lasted maybe 40 minutes. My husband was NOT liking it for the $$ and TIME we invested to support MTB. My husband said that as a fan he felt incredibly ripped off by the poor performance of an over the hill band. He said for me to chalk this up as his last time to ever go see them. V/r SM

Band was very solid. I am guessing 3 were original members? Had more of a "bluesy" feel than I expected, which was good. Lead singer kind of went his own way in a few spots and didn't seem to keep pace with the band. "Can't you see" was over the top and got the house rockin. Hoped some of the songs would sound a bit more like the recorded versions. "Desert skies" was a bit too slow. Encore of "24 hours at a time" was great, but could have sounded a bit closer to the original. All in all, a good show that I would recommend. BB Kings is a great venue but food and drinks are way overpriced. Overall 3.5 stars.

I didn't expect there to be 2 opening acts for one thing. Concert had an 8 oclock start, I was in my seat at 7:57, 1st opening band was good and then out came a 2nd. They were good too but wasn't until 10 pm when MTB finally came out. They did play until midnight but didn't finish signing all the songs, sang half of them and then it was a jam session for the rest of the song. I have always wanted to see them and was a little disappointed that they did not sign the entire songs. They can still jam though. Overall, glad I went but wouldn't see them again.

Marshall Tucker Band was disappointing, they refused to play "Heard It In a Love Song" at the end, instead played some unknown and disappointing song for an encore. They need to realize that when people pay that amount of money to see a group that does not have that many great hits, they want to hear the songs that bring back memories of what they were doing when that song came out. In addition, Doug Gray, the only original member, seemed very self-absorbed and talked endlessly between songs, while his singing abilities had obviously declined. I saw Marshall Tucker in the 70's at August Jam in Charlotte, NC and they were fantastic. Now they are just average, not worth the money to go see. I could have gone to see a cover band, and heard the songs I wanted to hear, and they would have probably been performed much better!

Being that so many of my childhood musicians are passing on, one has to decide whether or not to try to see them in concert or not. on one hand, we remember are stars in their youth, their voices strong, and unwavering. On the other, you take a chance that they will not live up to your expectations of "When they were their best". Marshall Tucker may be long in the tooth, but man can they still get a crowd moving!!! While there were a few moments where voices cracked or were slightly off-key, the energy the crowd brought helped Marshall Tucker get past those bumps. No, I am not being critical, because it was in these few moments the band connected best with the crowd. If you have not seen these men, this band that helped usher in the Southern Rock movement, you are missing out...their energy and ability to have fun with the crowd and each other makes this group a worthwhile event.

ii've been a big MTB fan since the early 70's and seen the band several times. poor doug gray just doesn't have the voice anymore, but he's such a nice guy. the band was very good, but the sound system was terrible. it was much too loud that the voices and music was so distorted. it wasn't the venue, because the opening band sounded fine... they were actually pretty good. i've talked to others that were there and they also felt the same way. i'll just play my old recordings and envision the way they were in the old days.

If you're not a diehard Marshall Tucker fan don't bother with this show. They are proud of the fact that they've been around for 45 years which is about 15 years too long.

Short set and missed most of their popular songs. Did a lot of instrumental and low energy. They showed up and that's about it.

The guys put in another great show, been seeing them for years. One of the last jam bands still around. The show was only about one hour and 30 minutes long, due to a request from the casino to cut the show short. What a shame, I've seen MT play for 3 hours many times. But, I would go see MT weekly if I could.

Either we had the worse seats or the acoustics at this venue (TalkingStick) are terrible, or both. Doug Gray seemed tired. We did enjoy the set list. Would have enjoyed a fiddle, even if not Charlie Daniels, on "This 'Ol Cowboy". "As soon as I kiss the lips of another woman, I'm gonna forget all about you", one of the best lines ever.

show was exactly what I expected. I was never a huge marshall tucker fan but enjoyed some songs so was expecting a good competent band with good energy and an entertaining show. that's exactly what I got really enjoyed it, guitar players were very good, singer sounded good, actually both guitar players were great singers too. good energy songs well paced. knew more of their songs than I had realized. venue is best place in town to see a show, great sight lines sound was crystal clear. go see marshall tucker whenever they come to town you will be thoroughly entertained

My wife & I have been lucky enough to see Marshall Tucker twice this year. They are a great band to see live, as they can still kick it after 45 years. While Doug Gray isn't the singer he used to be, the band is great, esp. Marcus Henderson, who plays keyboards, flute & sax and also does some vocals. What a great talent! "Can't You See" was great as always and "Hillbilly Band" was a song they don't always play. Chris Hicks does a great job on lead guitar & his "Dog Eat Dog World" was excellent. Be sure and see this great band while you can, as you won't be disappointed!

Marshall Tucker, after so many years, retains their legacy of great American music. I commend them for being able to provide such an evoking rendition of their various hits and bring us all back to the time when we first heard them and loved them into becoming classics for our generation. Still soulful and energizing after so many years. Thank you for the music Marshall Tucker Band!

They were truly one of my favorite bands. Wondered if the lead singer might have had a stroke and unsure who were among the original members but the guitar players and sax sounded like the old days. Just sad. I still would have went but happy no one bought the extra 6 tickets I had.

Great show! The group of us only knew their biggest hits but we went since it was close to home - we are now watching the calendar for when they'll be back! They were GREAT! Such an extremely talented group of musicians. Sure, the main guy doesn't do as much as back in the day, but what do you expect....he's older?! But age doesn't matter because he is excellent and he surrounds himself with great musicians - these guys were tight and spot on!

I've wanted to see Marshall Tucker forever and my husband surprised me with tickets this weekend. I was so excited and looking forward to a great show but wound up being soooo disappointed. The flute/sax player was okay, but the sound was terrible, the singing was terrible, they played a few songs with lots of mediocre solos and played for 1 hour - that's it. Worst concert I've ever been to, what a let down. I think it's time Marshall Tucker went to the house and stayed there.

Worst concert we have ever attended. It was so bad we walked out after an hour. The one original band member, the main guy, cannot sing at all anymore, he butchered his own songs. Most of the hour that we were there it was his bandmates each taking turns playing their instruments as a solo. If you get comp'd tickets, go for it, the venue is actually good and no bad seats. Do not pay money to see this band.

The Marshall Tucker Band has a special following of rockers, young and old, blues lovers, 70's concert groupies, southern classic rock fans, and a couple of hard core gospel "sangers" thrown in the mix. No matter how you take your music, props go to the indescribable talents that stand on stage under the MTB Stagecoach every night. These guys have hammered away at an incredible sound with love, celestial talent, and musical mastery for years. To put it mildly, an MTB concert is a HOLY experience. Rock on super NOVAS. Love your sound.

iI've never left a review, good or bad, on this site. But we were so disappointed with the Marshall Tucker concert on Sept. 16, 2017 in Biloxi....I feel like maybe I could save someone somewhere some of that disappointment. Doug Gray's voice is past the expiration date. I realize voices change as we age and some people can still pull it off. Doug Gray cannot. (Neither can Eddie Money) Additionally, the instrumentals between verses were EXCESSIVE!! I mean, 10-15 minutes. Frankly, I lost interest in the songs after the first 5 minutes of no singing. The band was on stage for 75 minutes and they played 6 songs. You do the math. And last, no encore. They said good-night, walked off stage and the house lights went up immediately. Would not buy tickets again and would only recommend them to others if they know ahead of time what to expect.

Will never go to see them again. Show was either cut short or poorly planned. Played maybe 5-6 songs, said goodnight, and walked off the stage. Crowd was booing with disappointment. Was expecting so much more for what we paid. Totally unacceptable. Two thumbs down!
