James Blunt

James Blunt

James Blunt (aka James Hillier Blount) lived all over Europe as a child with a father in the British Army Air Corps, taking piano and violin sessions and later learning guitar and writing songs as a teenager. After graduating from the University of Bristol, Blunt served six years in the British Army and was stationed in Canada, Kosovo and Switzerland, achieving the rank of captain before he left the army in 2002. The next year, he signed to Custard Records and starting recording his first album in Los Angeles. Back to Bedlam came out in 2004, with five singles including “High,” “Wiseman,” and the smashes “You’re Beautiful” and “Goodbye My Lover,” and received five Grammy nominations.

James Blunt and band always leave you wanting more. Great performance and James is always at his best. I was at both performances in S. Cali, Fox Performing Arts Center in Riverside and The Belasco in LA. Both were fantastic shows, we all had a great time and enjoyed ourselves tremendously. He definitely gives you your money's worth and when JB is in town its a must see show. I am never disappointed. This Moon Landing World Tour 2014 was simply awesome!!

Fantastic performer, high energy with lots of interaction with the crowd. Disappointed with seating because row in front had temporary chairs 4 inches higher than permanent seating obstructing view (not mentioned when ordered tickets from Ticketmaster).

Unforgettable performance from James Blunt. Being at the Webster Hall NY made the performance more personable as where ever you stand you are close to the stage. Every song he gave it his all and he actually crowd surfed!! If you are not a James Blunt fan then go and see a performance by him and I assure you by the end of it you will be!

Can't say enough about the concert. Christina was good and somewhat nervous as to be expected in her first concert. But whatever flaws you saw in Christina were immediately overcome when James took the stage at 9:15pm. He is just such a great entertainer and he keeps knocking us out with song after song. My better half says we should enjoy the concerts in a House of Blues type venue because it won't be long when we will be buying tickets for TD BankNorth at $ 100 a pop to see our favorite, the one and only James Blunt because he will be a headliner like Rod Stewart whom we also saw about a month ago.

The recordings-- so sad-- now pale in comparison. The live performances of both artists were supremely sublime-- so passionate and powerful-- a whole order of magnitude more intense than the recordings. Blunt and Perri Cranked It Out! They are a well matched concert pair. Both are focus on emotional, somewhat melancholy themes-- passionately performed. Small, and both appreciated differences included: she was effervescent with joy and spoke intimately about her story between songs. He didn't take a breath between songs and kept his connection with the crowd within the music playing. We had MEZ tickets at House of Blues Boston. These were open standing room tickets on the mezzanine. Rather hard to say about the value-- since we "spent" the hour in the cold waiting for the doors to open we were able to get right on the railing next to a post to lean on. Others weren't so lucky. Not lucky enough to get at the railing even. It was hard for them to see. I'm kinda old and would have liked a seat. The top level seats weren't much more expensive and I would have paid the difference in order to sit but as far as I could tell they were NEVER available to the general public. Can see how if it was dance music it would be fun to have standing-- otherwise, it's a trying aspect of the experience that was otherwise wonderful. The sound was just right. No ringing in the ears on exiting and well balanced.

Christina Perri was a giggling school girl being it her first concert date on the tour. She seems to have alot of potential and her band was very creative. James Blunt gave 100% throughout the show. Unfortunately, the venue was oversold and filled with drunk screaming women (most in their 30s & 40s) falling down, pushing, shoving, and holding their cell phone proudly over their head as if the video would ever be viewable. Sad, really....

James Blunt put on a terrific concert. He worked very hard to involve all of the crowd. We arrived early to wait in line. When he arrived he walked down the line to shake our hands. He even went crowd surfing in the mosh pit! He played all of our favorite songs:a nice variety of old and new songs. He used several different guitars also. We loved every minute of it!

but even better! James Blunt is an amazing performer and incredibly talented. The concert was a lot of fun, and he played a great variety of songs. He entered from the back of the venue, instead of directly on stage with the rest of his band, and ran around the crowd shaking hands. He did this near the end of the show, taking one good lap around the crowd and got back up on stage not missing a beat. Definitely would have been a really high energy show had the venue and opening act been better suited. Which brings me to my only complaints; that the venue isn't really suited for this kind of concert, and the opening singer Christina Perri was boring. Her drummer was way more interesting than she was, though she is definitely talented, and what you hear on the radio is what you get. Just wish she had some better songs. The venue was all seating, and as I have noticed before with this venue, though it would make sense with a concert like this to set up a general admission/ pit area, they fail to do so. Anyway, all in all, the concert was great, and James Blunt was definitely not short on energy, though I would recommend he pick a different venue if he comes back to Reno.

This was the fourth time I have seen James Blunt in concert and he did not disappoint me in any way! His new haircut, his buffed up body, his beautiful vocals, and his never ending sense of humor made the night perfect. This was an audience of hardcore fans who knew every line to every song making the concert that much better. I had seen James on VH-1 Top 20 on Saturday morning and he was talking about how he loves Denver, the fans here, and Ryan Tedder, his songwriting mate, so he was very excited to be visiting our town. It showed in his brilliant performance. Can not wait for his return to the Mile High City. I'll be there!

Loved the show but waited over 2 hours before James Blunt came on. The event and tickets say it starts at 6:30 but didn't actually get to see him until almost 8:30. Was very disappointed that we could no get to our seats until 7:00 pm. i have a bad back and there was no where to sit to ease the pain. There should be some disclaimer as to when the actual headliner starts. We were left in the dark as to when he would appear. I realize there are warm up groups to start but let us in to get seated before the event starts. I also didn't like the use of the four letter word when the warm up group made its appearance. It just wasn't necessary as they were not a hard rock band and they weren't that good.

I really enjoyed the James Blunt concert at the Riverside Fox theater. It's a great place (my first time there). But more than that, I learned first hand that James Blunt is one of those artists who sounds just as good (if not better) in concert than he does on studio recordings. Both his singing voice and the music were wonderful. I could understand what he was singing - it wasn't overpowered by the music. If you are a James Blunt fan he does not disappoint and if you are not yet a James Blunt fan but like his style of music I think you'd enjoy seeing him in concert even if you don't know many of his songs.

I love the way James is the real deal. No vocal effects and fancy fireworks. Just his voice, his band, lyrics & music and lighting effects. Lighting is always all you really need to emphasize and entertain in concert, to me. It was a nice intimate venue. HIs energy was enigmatic and talent reaches in and touches the heart. The crowd was very eclectic, young and older and even young children. The only downside is that it was too short and he doesn't need a warm up band\u2026 because we are so anxious to hear James, it is clear the warm up band's for the venue to make some money in refreshments. But they were good, too. Just hard to hear the lyrics. Very happy I went!

The night began with a great intro from Oh Honey, who held an impromptu "meet and greet" in the foyer before James Blunt came on. Blunt delivered an excellent, engaging, funny, and emotional set of music for nearly 2 hours. The venue is intimate and the sound quality was great. The only down side was the disresptful, rip roaring drunk woman infront of us who screamed inappropriately until she left 20 minutes into the set. Thank goodness! Can't wait for his next concert!

James Blunt has changed his public image. There were more up-tempo songs than I was expecting. His voice sounded much stronger live than in any of his recordings. His band backed him up well. He had a good rapport with the audience, with flashes of humor. My favorite songs were the older ones: You're beautiful and Same Mistake were very well done. Goodbye Lover was performed solo with only piano accompaniment. I saw Elton John a few weeks ago in Vegas and I must say that I preferred this concert (Elton John's show was also very strong). The two shows began in the same way: Also Sprach Zarathustra by Strauss as the musicians entered the stage. James Blunt must have seen Elton's show too. However, after the classical music introduction he should have begun with a more up-tempo song instead of a ballad. I'm glad that I went. It is unusual to find an artist these days whose songs actually make sense. James Blunt is one of those artists and some of his songs serve as inspiration for the songs that I write. I can't say that about many singer/songwriters.

James Blunt performed nearly his entire new album plus many older gems. I think 22 songs in all. His voice was as strong as ever, he is a cute as ever, and so energetic. He really didn't need the opening act, Oh Honey, as they were kind of boring. I wish it was just James. I have seen him several times, and this was probably the worst venue and least inspiring crowd, but he still rocked the house! By the end of the set, he had everyone on their feet and singing a long with him. I am ready for his next album and next US tour. James is the man!

James Blunt performed a flawless set. The sound balance between the instruments and the vocals was perfect, and I had a really good view of the stage. I only wish I had been able to be down in the very front, because the crowd wasn't energetic enough up there. Maybe if there hadn't been chairs in the front, it would have been better. JAMES BLUNT hasn't performed in the San Francisco Bay Area for over 3 years...and although I would love to see him more often....he always puts on an extraordinary show when he is here. He played his more popular songs from his catelog and his setlist consisted of probably 20 songs during the main portion and 3 encore songs. He was backed a terrific band of musicians and he himself played both the piano as well as the guitar and other stringed instruments during the almost 2 hour show. He does a bit of hokey maneuvering around the stage at times which has become a James Blunt schtick....but hokey or not...he fully attempts to connect with his audience. At times he encourages crowd participation (singing along...waving cell phones) and at other times he requests the audience be silent and listen. James Blunt always gives a solid performance. Heres hoping he will return to the U.S. again sooner than 3 years from now.

Drove 4 hours in pouring rain. Arrived 40 minutes late but don't think I missed much because he was just starting to sweat. And I saw this clearly because I was able to get against to barricade about 15- 20 ft from center stage! It was awesome. I hung on that rail until he left the stage and body surfed the crowd. I made my way to center stage just 4 or 5 people from the barricade. I had a great view and was very content there for the remainder of an AWESOME performance. If he'd come some where close enough to drive I'd see him again. Because I know I missed "I'll be your man". I didn't even ask

The Hard Rock Cafe in Biloxi, Mississippi was certainly small compared to many of the enormous venues James Blunt/Band are playing around the world. It didn't matter. They worked that room! They are certainly more well known and appreciated in other countries, still, the music, the passion, the sweat, the enthusiasm and the appreciation for their audience is obvious. We were relieved of our anxieties for a few hours. There was no way to not have a good musical time! I am a trained musician/singer/entertainer for a living. I know a lot of songs and a lot of stats. I didn't know much about James and band mates until 1 1/2 yrs ago. He caught my attention because of a concert of his I recorded on my DVR. I heard songs called 'Carry You Home', "No Bravery' & Goodbye My Lover. I was speachless. I am 53 yrs old, and while I was young, I was around for the hippie/protest movement/songs and have heard a lot of music! I really didn't believe there could be anything new to write about. Along comes this former British Army Captain (my husband is British, hence filled me in on the details & Wiki'd James Blunt for me) who lived to write about his experiences. There are many references to his time spent in the millitary. He has an interesting family history in the British millitary as well. While I am not personally patriotic, I appreciate the passion that men & women have to put their lives on the line. James Blunt had a guitar strapped to the side of a millitary tank... he would play for the friendly locals while serving outside of Britain. Yes, I took a closer look at his work. I became a fan. I saw him twice in London in 2013, but not on this world tour. He is a good instrumentalist, singer and has something that's really important to me in my own act - he is great entertainer and gets the audience very much involved! I do that with my local audiences and now I know what it's like to be in the audience. It's just more FUN. Anyone can see that he and his mates are having a great time! I returned to the stage today energized! I need only to think of how hard these bands work, traveling, etc. to realize that, while I don't make that kind of money, I have the gift of music. I will continue to use it for the good. #MoonLandingWorldTour James Blunt & band mates were like a vitamin B12 injection for me! Thank you for letting me write, and for making it easy to get my ticket. Everything was perfect. Thank you very much.

Having seen James in Asheville, NC several years ago I was aware of how he has matured yet with the same awesome, creative lyrics and memorable music. He is a perfectionist and it shows on stage and in the set up---

The James Blunt show in Atlanta at Center Stage was truly amazing! It was my first time seeing him live and I couldn't have asked for a better experience! I LOVED the intimate setting of Center Stage. While I can see how his show would translate to a bigger venue, I'm so glad my first visit with him felt so....personal. It really felt like I was spending time with an old friend.

I anticipated that James Blunt would be a great concert at Centre Stage, but he was better than I even anticipated. His connection with both his music and the audience was unbelievable. This was my first concert although I have adored his music for years. I could not help thinking that James Blunt was an exceptionally performer/entertainer and one of the best concerts I have ever seen. It was absolutely money well spent to see him and I'd easily spend it again for the same reason!

One of the best concerts I've seen. I'm very sorry the hard rock booked him on the first night of our very large outdoor music festival! I felt bad for james not having it full like he would have. This was a great concert and he is very talented. He played everything I wanted to hear!

James Blount played FOR THE CROWD at the Center Stage last Thursday. He seemed sincerely interested in us having a fun time at his show. He played all his best known songs, moving from piano to several different guitars. It was amazing!!

Totally exceeded my expectations. James Blunt has so much energy and passion. His albums don't do him justice. You have to see him live. Just wonderful.

This was the 2nd time we saw James Blunt...other show was about 6 years ago. This one was even better!!! I see quite a few concerts and this is among my top three shows, others being Bon Jovi, and Bruce Springsteen. He is a wonderful entertainer and sounds exactly like his CDs. His new CD, "Moon Landing" is upbeat and wonderful. He did a great mix of new and old songs. This was my first time at Center Stage and it is an excellent, small venue. A perfect mother/daughter outing!!! Only wish he toured more.

The opening: Spotlight on James at piano singing "All the Flowers Turn to Face the Sun". Every note on the piano rich and clear, every syllable of the song the same! James went from one song to another, an excellent mix of the new and old songs...lots of interaction with the audience. The audience loved him, singing along with many of the numbers as James would step away from the microphone to give voice to the audience. The sound was incredible; center stage is a great venue! Yes, I loved it!!! Wish we could do it over again!

I have been a James Blunt fan for years and this was the first time I was able to see him in concert. The show exceeded all expectations and showcased the musical talents of Blunt and the members of the band. The performance was energetic, enjoyable and was a superb mix of favorites and new material. James was charming, personable and playfully magical on stage. The theatre was terrific too! And the opening band O Holy was great!

I've been a James Blunt fan girl ever since I heard his song, Beautiful. He's an amazing songwriter and singer, but it wasn't until I saw him live that I realized just how great he is. Last Tuesday inside the intimate Bergen PAC theater, I was thrilled to be in attendance. For almost two hours Mr. Blunt performed his heart and soul for us. Playing songs encompassing all of his albums, some were just him at the piano or on guitar, others were accompanied by his great band. Blunt was quite the showman. I was impressed and already look forward to his next tour.
