Stone Temple Pilots

Stone Temple Pilots

With the announcement in 2013 that Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington would be taking over lead vocals for the Stone Temple Pilots, any disappointment over the departure of longtime STP frontman Scott Weiland quickly turned to anticipation for the band’s new incarnation. STP are icons of ‘90s alternative rock; Bennington pioneered the rise of rap rock with Linkin Park in the 2000’’s – the 2013 announcement of Stone Temple Pilots with Chester Bennington rocked the music world and aroused high hopes among fans for this promising marriage of musical forces. The band lost no time, releasing High Rise, their first EP with Bennington, in October 2013 to positive reviews and a Top 40 spot on the Billboard 200. Singles like “Black Heart” and “Out of Time” featured STP’s catchy riffs and melodies, earning praise for retaining the band’s signature sound while exploring poppier territory with the addition of Bennington’s polished vocals.

Had never seen Bush but they were great. Had a lot of big hits they I had forgotten about. Went to see STP and they were excellent but it was disappointing that with 3 headliners, they only played for an hour. Left wanting more! Could have skipped The Cult. Couldn t remember their songs but after looking on YouTube I was really looking forward to hearing them. Highly disappointed. Sweet Soul Sister sounded more like a pep rally chant than the rock anthem of the 80 s. I understand that 30 years later the vocal range may no longer be there, but I felt like I could have heard a better cover at a local bar.

Well, this show was good, not great but good. The show started with Bush, they were better then ever and should ve been the headliner! Gavin was spot on playing hit after hit, the crowd was very reactive to him and he finished the show up in the crowd. The Cult came out and what a letdown....Ian couldn t get the crowd going if he had to and it was not good. Stone Temple Pilots played all of the songs I wanted to hear and kudos to the new lead frontman for filling Scott s shoes. I think he needs to focus less on what Scott used to do and find his own style of moves. If you ve ever seen them before he joined you ll understand what I m saying. Take out the Cult and it was a good show, not great but good!

If you re a fan of just one of these bands, you ll be rewarded with an amazing performance - and I m sure you ll walk away a fan of the other two bands. Different order every night, but each band gets the same stage time so no one is short changed. Great musicianship, great songs (they all play their hits with just a couple newer songs), the stage design and light show, decent ticket price. Lots of value there. Get off your couch and live. Go see live music, there is nothing like it.

Despite a kinda wierd hair job on Scott, the band sounded just awesome. They took their time on stage, announcing songs and generally were in a very mature space as regards their situation in life. The only boo boo was that they are not working on a "new" album but about to release a compilation. But hell it might just give people access to LP's of their older work. So, why not. Anyways, here's wishing them all the best for many long years of rocking and rolling.

Maybe you've heard, or read about bad STP shows. Starting late, or not at all, sloppy singing, no energy etc... Not this time! As a matter of fact, BOTH times I've seen STP now, they've kicked it out hard. Great energy, hard rockin', great songs. For this tour they've pulled out some of the songs that they haven't done in a long time. Even though you may not know those songs unless you're a true fan, they were still great. One of hard rock's best acts, I highly recommend you catch them while you can.

Weiland and team delivered. Highlights included Wicked Garden, Sex Type Thing, Crackerman, Vasoline, and the hits. Would have liked to hear something from the new album, but that's nitpicking, isn't it? STP proved that they were the most underrated band of the 90s, a claim I will defend to the grave. Hopefully the new album materializes by the end of the year.

The show was great except that the vocals were a bit drowned out by some overly distorted guitars. I kept thinking that the next song they would get the mix down but it was more of the same. Checked out all the different vantage points around the auditorium and the sound didn't vary any. Overall, a great show by a great band, high energy and into their fans. The venue is good.

This show was 90+ minutes of nonstop awesome. They came out, talked for a second, then just started ripping through every possible song I could've hoped for. A few of them were definitely surprises, but you could tell they wanted to just come out and blow the crowd away with favorites. I'd heard rumors that they still weren't quite getting along well, but if it's true, they sure didn't show it - they all did fantastically well and by the end of the show, there wasn't a single person around me who was unhappy. They covered all the bases and did it perfectly. The lighting, the awesome sound system, the great music, the smaller/intimate venue - it was all a perfect matchup. It was great to be able to hear the crowd singing along even with the audio blasting as hard as it was, so this was definitely the perfect place to have a show like this. In a bigger place, I think a lot of that connection with the band gets lost too easily. The crowd sang along with a little bit of AC/DC's "Dirty Deeds" while they all took a little rest midway through, which was great fun, and they gave a generous encore - 3 or 4 songs, I believe. Awesome, awesome, awesome show.

I have been a fan of Stone Temple Pilots since about 1994, but I never took the opportunity to see them perform live. Well, I'm glad that I finally took the plunge last night! The guys are currently working on new material, but last night was pretty much a greatest hits event. They performed most of the songs off their first album and almost all of the hits from their other releases. Scott sounded great and still likes to move around during the show. The rest of the guys are still rock solid and outstanding musicians! Just to keep it short, if they are performing anywhere near you, you should go see them! Peace

STP is my ALL TIME FAVORITE BAND! It was AN AMAZING - BREATHTAKING performance last night at the House of Blues on Sunset in Hollywood. It was Great to see Scott up there, I wanted to kiss him but I was happy just being right at the stage. As mentioned above, I cried because I was so Happy & So Fortunate to see these guys perform in such a intimate venue, it felt like a Private Concert! I LOVE YOU STP - KEEP ROCKING!!!!!

The concert was absolutely incredible. I thought they had delayed start a little, as they didn't start playing till around 9:30 but, soon forgot this as the band came on stage. And they played nearly non-stop for two hours after. I have seen STP at least 20 times and they have never disappointed me before and this concert was no different. They played a great varity of music from all their albums including some great tunes they rarely play live. STP is plane and simply one of the best "live" acts I have ever seen. And I have seen a lot of different bands at different venues. And the small size(intimacy) of the HOUSE OF BLUES Venue made the concert even more special. Dont miss a chance to see STP live if you get one !!!

What an unbelievable night! I had the great fortune to see their mindblowing show last year at the Hollywood bowl. I did not think they could ever have a show to equal that night. I was wrong! The band sounded fabulous! They did so many of their older songs, ones not heard live very often, that it was incredible. The crowd sang along with every song. It was small and intimate and felt like Scott was singing right to you. Rock on STP! I will continue to see every show that they play anywhere I can get to. This is a band that NEVER disappoints! I LOVE STP!

It left me pretty emotional. I was sad because it reminded me of Scott and how amazing he was. I was also blown away and appreciative. The band found someone that tries so hard to keep that sound alive as well as create new songs. Otherwise it would have died with Scott. We have seen members of the band together and separate. I didn t realize how much I missed them until I heard the songs that I grew up with played live once again. I hope they keep it up and die hard fans like my husband and I agree that they need to move forward and make music and touring.

First of all I have to say, The Myth is an incredible place to see a show. Now, as for the new STP...they are great! I've been looking forward to this show for a long time, in fact its been since Weenie Roast in Irvine, CA where they made their debut. This show was loud, in your face, and straight up awesome. Core: tons of songs Purple: a lot of songs Tiny Music: quite a few tunes #4: a good mix Shangri-La Dee Da: ZERO 2010 album: ZERO New EP: one song I was hoping they would play a couple more songs from the new EP.

Family and I did the meet and greet with STP. These guys were first class, down to earth guys. They treated us (and all in the meet and greet) as if we were family. No egos. No attitudes. They were appreciative for our fan ship. I considered these guys on of my favorite bands of all time. After this experience, they are number one! I highly recommend a meet and greet with these guys. Scott who? Chester Bennington pulled it off. I was amazed. Look forward to these four doing an album together.

Great show Friday night. I've never seen STP with what's-his-face, so I don't have a direct comparison - but I did see what's-his-face with Velvet Revolver (which I also thoroughly enjoyed), and they played a little STP, so I think you can trust me when I say, this was pure STP, if you love the band you will have no regrets with Chester at the helm.

I have always loved STP since listening to Core in 1992 and was a little worried about how they would sound with Chester leading the vocals. I was pleasantly surprised with his energy on stage as well as his powerful voice. While he does not hit the low notes like Scott did, he does an incredible job. Very glad I decided to go.

I got VIP tickets. We were told to meet at 6pm but it changed to 715pm when we got there, so we had to wait for over an hour! We were also told that we could take pictures in the meet and greet with our own phones but this was false when we got there. They had their own staff photographer and we had to download them from the House of Blues's Facebook page! The show itself was great but the mic for the lead singer Chester Bennington was turned so low we could barely hear the lyrics most of the time!

I saw them play w/ Chester at the HOB in AC a few years ago and they were awesome. This show was no less amazing. They played everything you'd wanna hear, both new and old stuff. These guys put on a great show every time - you can see they are still into their music and performance. And STP does a great job interacting with the audience you feel like you know them. At the end of the show, STP called up two guys from the audience to go up on stage - they were so psyched, they put on a performance themselves for the rest of us. Audience got a big kick out of them :-) House of Blues is a great venue too - not a bad seat in the house. Can't wait to see these guys again!

I went to the STP concert this past saturday, 4/25/15 in Montclair, NJ. The Wellmont Theater is one of the best venues I've been to because it's small and super intimate. I was excited for this concert because STP can make an unforgettable night... But this wasn't the case. I've seen STP twice in concert and with this one 3. Bottom line, STP is dead without Scott. Chester was terrible, I hated the vocals, too screamo not enough rock/alternative. The guy next to me and I were complaining we couldn't hear anything of what Chester was singing. He decided to go down and complain. He came back and said they would increase the vocal volume... 2 songs passed and the only thing that increased was the instrument volume and the disappointment. We both even thought they were doing that on purpose so people wouldn't notice the difference between Scott's voice and Chester's. I left after the 7th or 8th song. Hopefully money will talk and Scott will be back... til then, STP is dead.

I made it to front row without any problems. The bands live performance is spectacular, I was sad that wailand is no longer the lead singer but as soon as I heard Chester Bennington sing I completely became happy again. This shows that bennington is so talented in so many levels. The best thing is that the attention didn't just go to bennington but the band as a whole. All members were so humble and kind which really made me enjoy the performances even more. I really can't wait to see them again next time they tour.

this was my 3rd STP show and the first with Chester Bennington. Flawless! If you can go see them, do not miss this show, Trust me!!! I am an old school fan of STP, seeing them 4 times over the decades and I went into the show thinking I would be disappointed and came out absolutely blown away! Everyone was so impressed, They ripped it! They sounded better last night then I have ever heard them before and Chester is beyond the real deal and a seasoned professional. He is an absolute perfect front man for STP and he honestly sounded better than Scott has in 15 years. He interacted with the fans every song and took a very humble approach to the entire show and his role with this iconic band. They played about 17 songs and rocked the rafters at the House of Blues...it was way more than I expected and I am going to see them again in Jacksonville now and anywhere else I can drive. 5 Stars doesnt give them enough credit, it was a 6 star performance! Enjoy the show, its gonna amaze you! Chester is amazing and the rest of the band as you already know is flawless!

When I first heard Out of Time, it clearly had the STP sound, but definitely felt Linkin Park-ish! That being said, I love the song! When the tour was announced and the Atlantic City date at the House of Blues I jumped on a pair of tickets. Heading to the show, I listed to STP CD s and wondered how they were going to pull it off with Chester Bennington! They quickly dispelled any worry I had, by opening with Down , which was amazingly done by Chester,..knocked out of the park!! They rolled right into Big Bang Baby and once again, Chester nailed it!! I wished I had seen them prior to Scott s departure, but I don t feel cheated!! The whole show was fabulous!! If you missed the show in AC, do yourself a favor and catch this performance at a venue near, (or not near), you!! Too, Filter opened with a great set featuring songs like: Trip Like I Do, Jurassitol, What Do You Say, Take a Picture, and Hey Man Nice Shot!!

I was a little worried as the band had some problems earlier in the week and were forced to cancel a gig. As it turned out my worries were unfounded as the boys put on a great show. Show started on time and the band was very tight with Scott's vocals right on the mark. Spent the entire show on the floor right in front of Dean letting the marvelous sounds from his VHTs and Vox flow over me. Awesome! Such an under appreciated guitar player! Keep it up guys! Hoping for some new STP music in the coming year! Cheers! -Chris

You can't get a better venue for a concert than The Paramount in Huntington Village. There's not a bad spot in the house. This was a great show. I have never seen Stone Temple Pilots in concert and had heard that sometimes Scott Weiland is often late to shows but they started in a reasonable time after the opening act finished. (I don't know who the opening act was, but they were great.) They played mostly their popular songs but a few times they played songs I wasn't familiar with and apparently, neither was the rest of the audience, because there seemed to be a collective rest room break during these songs. Anyway the band played great and Weiland sounded great for the most part, albeit a little shaky at times - I love when he takes out the bullhorn. STP has been around for a long time but they still got it.

Bethel Woods Center for the Arts was beautiful, have never been to a nicer site for a concert. Bethel was very clean, well organized, event staff was very friendly. Crash Kings were good, but really came to see STP. After approx. an hour after opener finished, STP finally came on stage. A good set list with classics and new mixed in. Only one complaint - STP only performed for an Hour!!! For the travel time, cost of tickets, etc. expected it to last a little longer - Don't think I was only one surprised/let down by the short show. But came with the wife to see STP, and we did. And for the time they performed they were great. Will be looking for future shows at Bethel woods.

This was my first time seeing Stone Temple Pilots and I was so excited! The Rapids Theatre was more than I expected. A truly beautiful venue. The opening act...completely forgettable. The one thing that I didn't like was the fact that the band kept us (the crowd) waiting over an hour & half before they finally graced the stage. But it was worth the wait! They played every song you expected to hear & some deeper cuts you could only hope to hear. It was so great to see Scott looking so healthy & he was all over the stage & sounded great. I'm looking forward to seeing them again soon.

I was a little nervous seeing a band that I like in High School, I did not want my childhood memories shattered by a lack luster performance of once great musicians but that was not the case. They were AMAZING!!!! Possible even better than ever! I got a lot more than I was expecting for a $15 ticket. It was an $100 show!!!!

It's been years since I've seen STP in concert, 2001 to be exact, and they did not disappoint. Even after almost 20 years they still sound the same as if I was listening to a CD from 94. Only wish they could have played for hours...

Always been a fan of STP, but never got a chance to see live. I wish I had seen them sooner back in the 90's. The band was really tight and Scott Weiland was superb vocally and entertaining. The setlist that they put togeather was amazing, with all the songs that I wanted to hear. Very pleased and would go to see them again, hopefully sometime soon in the future!

The rain ended before a really good Rose Hill Drive band finished their set. So with GREAT music and the NYC skyline & sunset behind us, it was heavenly. This was a general admission standing only show, which I like because I will arrive early for an STP show no matter what & get a great up-close view. Great crowd, so the bands were really giving and so were we. Last September, I saw STP from the 8th row at a packed Jones Beach & I was really irked at the listless crowd when the band really was ON & ROCKIN' I like East River Park venue. They served beer, good Aussie wine & a variety of food that smelled good. I didn't eat though. Nice neighborhood over there too that I'd never seen before & I got a cool parking spot a few blocks away. A 5 STAR experience to start off a week that I really needed to be a good one. >;)

my first tape that I got as a birthday present was s.t.p. core! I think it was in 94... anyways I was changed! I didn't know what the hell I was missing! It was on from there! Now I love rock n' roll baby! So glad that this band is still around! I saw them last year at the fillmore in Detroit, so I knew I had to come back & see them again.. I watch'd an old video, the day before the concert on 420, from the house of blues & the first song they played was crackerman! So I was hoping to hear that & thats how it went down! AWESOME SHOW!! I play guitar & sing & hopefully will be on stage one day!! keep it up guys! peace, Detroit Firefighter....Joshua Springer

Excellent show, love it. I have seen probably 150 concerts in my life, everyone from Heart to Jefferson Starship to Van Halen to Aerosmith - STP does not disappoint. Period. We really enjoyed the show, Scott Weiland was in top form, and the entire band was just great. I highly recommend these guys to anyone who enjoys rock. Beautiful setting too! The acoustics are fantastic at the Woods, very nice.

I have seen STP 3 times in concert now, and this time was the best yet! The two previous concerts were at larger venues (nTelos in Portsmouth, VA, was one), so needless to say I was much closer to the stage this time. Overall, STP are just good musicians, and they get better and better every time. They add new things to the songs that you don't hear on the studio recordings if you listen carefully. They are not particularly flashy on stage, but they play so well, it doesn't matter. They have enough stage presence just looking cool playing their instruments. The sound was good and heavy, but the high range wasn't coming through loud and clear. Dean's guitar solos were a little hard to hear over everything else.

This was my first time at pier six for a show and I have to say it was unbelievable. The opening band Rose Hill Drive was Great and to top that off Stone Temple Pilots killed it. They were absolutely phenomenal. The lights were perfect and the crowd was good. They played several encore's and sounded great live.

The venue was the perfect place to see one of my all time favorite bands! It was large enough yet small enough to be intimate. We had tickets for the front section and were there early (not early enough!) to get close to the stage (but not close enough!). STP rocked; the sound was fantastic, the crowd awesome, and my girls and I shared a once-in-a-lifetime experience. They grew up listening to me play STP and are now old enough to appreciate the music and a live performance. They were super excited to get to go to the concert and were blown away by how awesome the guys were. Before the show, they enjoyed the music and childhood memories that went along with it. After the show, they were fans of the band. As for me, I'm still as much in love with the band as I was when I first heard them. To me, they're even better now. I hope they continue to work together and I can't wait to hear the next phase of their musical evolution. My only regret is that instead of full on basking in the wonderment, I attempted to capture it via photo and video.

I've seen STP 5 times since they reunited and this was by far the best show yet, for several reasons. First, the band was tight and together. They've started doing a new thing where they go into an improvised jam before busting into certain songs, which is unique and shows their musical range. Second, Scott's got it together, much more so than in the past, and it makes a huge difference. Third, the band looked like they were having fun, which was something that was lacking in many of the previous shows I've seen. Fourth, but not least, the FOH mixing (i.e. sound) was very good. Bottom Line: If you're an STP fan, the new and improved STP is a must see. How soon we forget just how big their catalog of music is and how big their sound is. One of my top 10 acts of all time, and that's saying something.

STP put on a REALLY great show Feb. 20 at the Biloxi, MS Hardrock! I was lucky enough to be on the second row of people away from the stage and was able to experience a still very desireable Scott Weiland move and shake close by. They played for about an hour and a half and threw out some momentos like picks and drum sticks ect....It was very sweet how Scott thanked the crowd after every song, the whole band seemed to be really pumped and genuinely happy to be playing for us. They played all my favorites and some awesome songs off of their newest album. The sound quality was superb! Very easy to get lost in the music. Scotts voice was surprisingly in excellent shape (I had no idea what to expect after his hard living) and was exactly what I wanted to hear. I was overall very pleased with the show and am SO glad that I made the 3 hr trip from Jackson to see it. About 10 yrs ago they played in Biloxi and I sadly missed it. I feel very fortunate to make up for lost time with such a great show!!!

The crowd was juiced and pumped after the San Francisco Giants had just won the World Series and Stone Temple Pilots pushed the energy level through the roof. Starting off with their classics and mingling in some new material STP grooved and rocked the Warfield fanatics to a blistering crescendo of adoring appreciation!

STP at the Warfield SF I have been to over 100 different bands shows in my lifetime and this was one of the best I have ever seen! I saw every tour from Core, Purple, Tiny Music, etc, but this show was by far the best show I ever saw them do. In the top 3 of all time best shows ever of all the bands I've seen. I'm so proud of STP right now and really do appreciate the gift they have given the fans. Such great song writers and such great music. I must rank STP up there with the best bands that have ever hit the music scene like the Stones, Beatles, & Zeppelin. Scott Wieland did a stellar job and his Vox were 5 star! All the negative talk about him should be rebuked and he should be given an award for being one of the all time best rock stars to ever exist. He looked great, he sounded great and he is great! Excellent job Scott and best of luck to you, stay strong brother! Dean DeLeo has such great tone with vintage guitars & amps. His style is truly unique and is a great song writer. He is heavy, light, melodic and over all just a great player. One of the best ever, right up there with Jimmy Page. Robert DeLeo is by far the best bass player I have ever seen live and in my opinion one of the best all time bass players ever! His stage presence, his moves, his gear, his chops, his song writing, I just can't say enough about how great he is. I will have to say he is my favorite bass player of all time. Eric Kretz was in the pocket and chopping it up. He has great style and his beats fit the songs like a glove. Never over or under plays, just plays what's right and has great style. 2 thumbs up for Kretz! For all of those of you who didn't get to see STP on this tour, I have to say, you missed out! This truly was a life experience I will remember forever and rank as one of the all time best times I have ever had. I sure do hope you come back soon STP. THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL THE GREAT MUSIC AND SUCH A GREAT SHOW.

It appeared to me that whatever issues STP had at the beginning of their tour has been resolved. The band sounded very tight and Scott Weiland (lead singer) looked and sounded healthy. It was refreshing to see all the band members kids run on stage at the end of the show. It showed me the band is maturing and figuring out their priorioties.

STP is such an amazing band! They put up a great show, as expected. The only downside of the San Diego show was the rescheduling. For an unknown reason the show had been postponed almost a month and half, with the result of an extremely low attendace for such great performers. The venue should have been changed to a smaller one, such as the House of Blues. In the end, I would recommend to go see this guys without a second thought.

I was in high school in the 90's, when STP was just coming out with their most popular stuff. This was what we blasted in our bedrooms after school, listened to in our cars all day, when we were hanging out with friends...but we never got a chance to see them live back then. This was an absolute treat! The show was fantastic because not only did they sound JUST like they used to, but it brought back a nostalgia that was such a joy to experience...right down the skunky smell that filled the air (despite the no smoking rule). Good times for sure. And so fun to see Scott Weiland dance! Watching the videos, it was always amusing to me. Couldn't wait to actually see him dance like that in real life. Definitely got my money's worth.

Sadly this was the first time I've been able to see STP, sad... because the show was just that good that I left trying to remember why it was I skipped out on previous opportunities. I'm by no means a new fan, as I remember waiting in line to pick up their first album from Best Buy during my school lunch break. The show was mainly a "hits" type show with the crowd knowing the songs, and being full of energy. The show was great, stage was simple, and the Deltaplex is a *small* venue. Not a club by any means, but still not even a small arena. Sound inside is always nice, and the show did sound great.

Weather was perfect, sound was exceptional, light show was awesome, STP ROCKED! This was my first time seeing STP and I was not disappointed. The sound was so well dialed in, it was the best sounding live performance I've heard in a while. The setlist was great. Even while playing new singles that it seems no one wants to hear, the place was rockin. Of course the place was on fire during Plush, Sex Type Thing...all the big ones. And they ended with an encore of Dead & Bloated followed by Trippin on a Hole, great way to close it out. Only lame part was when a few bozos started a fight near the stage. Scott even addressed it during their set, surely made them feel pretty stupid. Anyway, highly recommended, best concert I've seen since Metallica, and c'mon, who could really top them? Great show, would def see again! On a side note, Cage the Elephant was also awesome. They lived up to the intensity that I had been told about. Their singer seems to have no regard for his personal safety, very fun to watch. I wouldn't be suprised if these guys blow up soon.

The weather was perfect. Thank you mother nature. There was sexually charged energy in the air. Thank you crowd. I experienced one of the best concerts this year. Thank you CTE and STP. Soooo...Cage the Elephant came on earlier than expected, so I did miss the first 20 minutes of their jam session, BUT let me tell you, what I did see was well worth it. They got in there and pumped up the crowd for STP, some serious four-play action, thanks boys. STP, what can I say, you KILLED. Your music ran through my body the rest of night.

I listen to and adore this band since 1995. Couldn't miss this concert. They played awesome. I was a little annoyed when Cleveland was later added to tour stops because Cleveland is much nearer to me and I had already bought a ticket for Columbus. But the concert was totally worth driving there and back. I'm so happy this amazing band did not break up for Velvet Revolver. They played and played and played, did not waste time on talking nonsense. STP is a legend.
